Aerick had been put on a mission tonight, personally requested by Elaine Dupree herself. He assumed the reason he was chosen was because of his bartender status at Club Indigo, and because Elaine claimed he was by far the best looking bartender there, but regardless he was ready. His mission was to be on the lookout for a girl a year or so younger than him that answered to the name of Jessavette, or Jess. Elaine had sent her an invitation to the Club on behalf of one of his fellow Purifiers, who remained anonymous, to meet him here at ten in the evening for a night to remember. Aerick had smirked at the words, for the second task he had been set to was to ensure Jess always had a drink in hand, whether she knew it was alcohol or not. Aerick had learned some charms from the previous bartender before he left how to enchant a stiff drink to look and taste like water, so if it came to that he could pull that off quite easily. He was secretly glad that Clodagh was never around at nights; just one look into those beautiful doe eyes and he’d never be able to complete his mission. Aerick stood behind the bar, his black tee shirt tight enough that some of the female patrons were doubling their tips. He had a white dish towel slung across his shoulder, and was just finishing a round of mojitos for a hen party when he spotted the girl Elaine wished him to interact with. Target acquired, he thought grimly, but gave the girl a winning smile as she made her way over to him. “I don’t mean any offence by this miss, but you sure do look you could use a drink,” he said smoothly, his hand hovering over a glass to make whatever she desired. @jessavette

The moment Jess received the invitation from Fin, she couldn't help but be excited. She wasn't really a drinker, so she didn't spend a lot of time in bars or clubs, but honestly she just wanted to be with Fin. Ever since they decided they were dating, she couldn't get enough time with him. A part of her wished they would have known one another earlier, before they both got jobs, because then it definitely would have been easier to spend more time together. The way things were now, they were both busy often enough that any opportunity to see him was still a treat for her.
However, a part of her was nervous as well. She was still getting to know Fin and wasn't exactly sure what he would want to do at Club Indigo. She'd heard of the place before, but never actually went there. She knew there was lots of dancing and drinking, and certainly other things, but she just didn't know what to expect or what Fin expected and the thought made her anxious. Not enough that she wouldn't go, but she felt nervous about it. She dressed nicely, but Jess wasn't really a dress kind of girl, so she wore dark jeans with a simple blouse, curling her hair before she went in an effort to look a little nicer than normal.
Fin asked her to meet him there at ten, but she went early, as per usual. Jess couldn't stand being late to anything. It was fine. She could just wait for him inside, right? So she found herself walking inside around nine forty-five, looking around herself a little curiously, but also hopefully. The hope was pointless. He wasn't there yet. She took a deep breath as she made her way over to the bar. That was probably the best place to wait for him, right? Everyone went to the bar in a club at one point or another, so Fin was sure to notice her here. The bartender grinned at her and Jess offered a hesitant smile, chuckling a little when he told her she looked like she could use a drink. She probably wasn't doing a good job at hiding her nerves at all. "Oh no, I'm just ... I'm waiting for someone," she answered. "So just water for me, please." She had no intention of getting herself drunk before Fin showed up. Well ... she didn't plan on getting drunk no matter what, but definitely not before she saw her boyfriend. She glanced at the floor again, her eyes sweeping around as she searched for Fin. He wasn't here yet, and she really just needed to take a few deep breaths and relax a little.

Aerick had assumed she would decline the drink at first, not until her handsome prince got there. He knew the type; they were the good girls, the girls who were perfect in every way. There were always layers to this kind of girl though, and it was his job to peel some of those layers back. “Right away,” he said, inclining his head towards her. He reached for the glass and silently filled her glass with straight vodka instead of water. If Jess looked behind the bar, which he doubt she was, it would look like he was filling it with water from the gun. He silently incanted the spell that would make it taste and smell like water before handing it up to her. “Cheers, no charge for you,” he told her with a roguish wink. Water of course was no charge, but Elaine had promised him double any expenses Jess racked up with the night she had ahead of her, not that she needed to know that. Aerick watched her scan the room, clearly eager for someone to arrive. “Hot date? Or boyfriend?” he asked, nodding towards the door. “You keep on nervously checking the time and looking at the door, like you’re waiting for someone,” he commented. “You want to talk about him, don’t you?” he wheedled, grinning at her. All girls liked to talk about their boyfriends, and Aerick could be a listening ear. @jessavette

Jess smiled, looking around after the bartender said he'd get her some water. She was glad that he wasn't trying to push her into drinking something else, though she didn't think that most bartenders did that. It would probably drive away business. Then again, didn't most people come to clubs and places like this to get drunk? Probably. He spoke again and Jess turned to face him, smiling when he told her there was no charge and winking at her. "Why thank you," she answered, taking the glass and lifting it to her lips, sipping a little of the water as her eyes scanned the room. It was cool and fresh on her tongue and Jess realized that she was actually much more thirsty than she originally thought. She downed the entire glass as she searched the room a few times. When was Fin going to get here? When she put the empty glass back down on the counter, she looked over at the bartender again and flushed. "I guess I was a lot more thirsty than I realized," she admitted, then her eyebrows furrowed, "Or nervous." That could be it too. She was still very nervous right now.
He started to ask who she was waiting for and Jess quirked an eyebrow at him as he explained how he knew that she was waiting for someone. She supposed she was being a little obvious about that, but she was in a new atmosphere and wasn't really sure how to handle herself. She wanted Fin to get here already. Once he did she would feel much more comfortable. "Can't it be both?" she asked in a teasing tone. Honestly though, Fin could count as both a hot date and her boyfriend. He asked if she wanted to talk about him and Jess shrugged. "I don't know what to tell you about him," she admitted, neither confirming or denying his question. A part of her wondered why he would want to hear her talk about the guy she was waiting for, but then again ... he was asking and smiling and seemed to actually want to know.

Aerick watched, trying to hide his impressed face, as Jess downed the glass of vodka like it was water. Of course, it did taste like water so he supposed he had done his spell well. He refilled her glass with actual water; he doubted Elaine would care if Jess got alcohol poisoning, but Aerick felt otherwise. There was a line between being drunk and needing to go to the hospital, and Elaine had only said to get her drunk. Since she didn’t mention the hospital, he would make sure she didn’t need to go. “It happens to the best of us,” he assured her. “I can get you another type of drink; we have a variety of sodas and juices if you want something aside from the water,” he added, trying to get an idea of what drinks she would like when she finally decided to order one. Aerick chuckled at Jess’ not so subtle attempt to indirectly answer his question. “You don’t have to tell me about him if you don’t want to. But a pretty girl like you needs to watch herself around this club. If your boy isn’t here to protect him, I can step in and throw a dude out no problem,” he told her, snapping his fingers to show how easy it would be. As if on cue, a man stumbled up and tried to drunkenly start a conversation with Jess. “Excuse me sir, but the lady here is not interested,” Aerick warned, his eyes flashing dangerous. The man started, as if he wanted to say something to Aerick, but a look at Aericks’ biceps made him think otherwise and he left her alone. Aerick poured himself a glass of Coke and took a sip. “See what I mean? The men are already beginning to notice you here,” he told Jess casually. @jessavette

The bartender was watching her pretty intently, but Jess tried to ignore that. She wished Fin was here already. He normally came to meet her early, though not as early as she did. He should be here any minute. The bartender handed her another glass of water and Jess offered him a smile, drinking this one a bit slower than her last glass. Then he offered to get her a soda or juice and she looked back to him. She shrugged a little, feeling warmer than normal "A Coke? Or Fanta? I don't really care what flavor." Why was she so nervous today? She'd met Fin several times during the last few weeks. This was ridiculous.
He started explaining that she didn't have to tell him about Fin, but that she'd need to watch herself or he could help out a little bit. She started to shake her head a little, about to try and explain a bit about Fin even though she didn't really know what to say. She was new to situations like this, but the bartender seemed nice enough to trust. "I wasn't saying I wouldn't tell you about-" Jess cut off when some drunk guy was suddenly beside her. Before she could say a word, the bartender told the man off and he left. Jess turned to him gratefully. "Thanks," she muttered. Then he mentioned that people were starting to notice her and her eyebrows furrowed. "Why would they notice me? There are plenty of other people here." Sure, Jess didn't normally come to places like this, but was that obvious to the world?
She paused before deciding to answer the man's previous question. "His name is Fin," she started hesitantly. Still, it wasn't a secret that they were dating, so she didn't feel bad telling this guy. "We went to school together and recently ran into one another again. He's tall and strong, with dark hair and eyes," she paused, realizing she probably wasn't doing a very good job of describing him. "I'm not good at this," Jess mumbled, glancing around the room for Fin yet again.

Aerick poured Jess a coke, with some hidden rum in it. Personally this was one of his favorite old school drinks that he used to sling back when he first started at Club Indigo at the tender age of eighteen. He sometimes would mix it up with a Jack and Coke, but rum was his poison of choice. If he remembered correctly, he had been drinking rum the night of his one night stand with Angela, which had coincidentally led to his toddler aged daughter Olive. He wondered what Elaine wanted on Jess; she was pretty of course, but she seemed rather shy and innocent. She had no idea her bartender was spiking her drinks with hard alcohol from the look of it at least.
Then she said the name of the boy she was meeting; Fin. There were a few Fins Aerick had heard of in passing, but one in particular he knew was very close to Elaine. “Not Fin O’Neill?” he asked, his surprise genuine. If Fin was meeting up with this girl, he was very likely into her. He couldn’t be positive, but he had a hunch that Jessavette was not a full pureblood, which was why he had been sent to cause some trouble with her. Elaine, being a pureblood, was happy to accept any and all followers, but like her preceding Dark Lords, had a distaste for Muggleborns, or No-Maj’s as he grew up knowing them as. All in all, this was a very interesting discovery, and the picture for Elaine’s plan was becoming more clear. “Used to see him in here quite a bit, now I see why he hasn’t been in in awhile,” Aerick told her, winking as he sipped on his own water. “You’ll be fine love, all you gotta do is act confident, even if you don’t fully feel it. Fin, from what I’ve seen of him, loves a girl with confidence.” Aerick could not be positive this was true, but if he was best friends with Elaine he had to at least like people with confidence - who didn’t?

Jess took the drink from him and sighed as she sipped it. She hadn't had coke in a while. She wasn't avoiding it or anything, but it tasted better than she remembered. She drank it slowly, enjoying the taste thoroughly. She even closed her eyes for a second in appreciation, before starting to look around the room for Fin again. What was taking him so long? It was starting to get hot in here too. Jess fanned her face with her hand, turning in surprise when she heard the bartender say Fin's whole name. He knew Fin? He had her complete attention now. Jess gave an easy smile, feeling more comfortable with the guy than she really expected to. "You know him?" she asked curiously, though it was obvious his answer to that would be yes. Jess giggled (something she didn't normally do) when he winked at her, after telling her that he used to see Fin a lot, but hadn't for a while. She glanced around again, looking at the place with interest. Did Fin really used to spend a lot of time here? She looked back at the bartender when he told her that she'd be fine. She rolled her eyes, "I don't feel uncomfortable around Fin," her voice was teasing. "We're dating." She paused to take another sip of coke. "I'm not used to places like this," she gestured around them. "I don't fit in here." Like that was news to the bartender. He probably knew that from the second she walked in.

Aerick smiled at the girl. He was quite certain she had no idea about her beau’s secret endeavors with the Purifiers, and judging from Elaine’s mark on her, she wasn’t supposed to know. Well, at least not yet; if this relationship continued with Elaine’s disapproval, Fin’s affiliation with her would be made known to Jess at some point. She would probably use it as a last resort though, as she did seem to have a strange soft spot for Fin. It was very unlike her, but Aerick knew better than to question anything the Dark Lady did. “We’ve crossed paths from time to time. Like I said, when he first graduated I saw him here...quite a bit. But it looks like he’d found other ways of entertaining himself,” he told her with a chortle. Jess would know exactly what he meant, and from his impression the girl would probably blush furiously in a few heartbeats. Aerick stroked his chin thoughtfully, as though he was trying to come up with a way to make Jess feel more comfortable while waiting for Fin. He filled up a glass of ‘water’, and set it down on the bar. “To cleanse your palate after the coke,” he told her, though what was really inside the glass would not cleanse anything. It would however, possibly get her to loosen up a little more. “You just have to relax a little. Your shoulders are a bit shrugged up towards your ears, and when you cross your arms around your chest it makes you look unapproachable,” he commented, leaning forward on one forearm on the bar. “I’m not saying you should make it seem like everyone should come talk to you, but let’s just stay shrinking away from standing out here gets you noticed more than anyone up on that pole,” he told her, nodding towards the girl dancing on the pole a few feet from them. Jess obviously already had Elaine’s attention, but it wasn’t because of her presence at Club Indigo. They did get a few interesting patrons sometimes that liked to bully the wallflowers, and for some reason Aerick’s instinct was to protect her from that. @jessavette

Jess nodded at the bartender explained how he and Fin knew one another. It took a moment for his implication to his her, but once it did she ducked her head, a strong blush coming on. "We haven't been dating for a long time, just a few weeks," she explained, trying to ignore her raging blush. She wasn't the reason Fin stopped coming here, she didn't think. Or was she? No ... she started to get confused and shook her head, trying to clear it.
He gave her some more water and Jess took it, hoping that maybe it would help cool her blush, or at least stop the bartender from noticing that she was blushing. She drank a third of it and lowered the glass to the counter as she took a step away to look around for Fin again. Where was he? The man behind the counter started talking again and Jess turned to face him, a curious smile on her lips as he started to talk, then she giggled. She needed to relax? At his words, she tried to relax her body, lowering her shoulders and moving to lean an elbow on the bar. Unfortunately, she misjudged the distance and found herself losing her balance and stumbling into the bar. Once she wasn't falling over, she leaned her onto the bar to try and help keep her balance, though she couldn't seem to stop herself from laughing. After a minute she turned to the man behind the bar. "This any better? Or do I need to relax more?" she asked in a playful tone, her voice much louder than she actually meant it to be. She reached for the glass and took another drink as she watched him, waiting for whatever he was going to say.

Aerick couldn’t help but smirk a little bit at Jess’ obvious discomfort, but it wasn’t a malevolent look. This was clearly someone who was not used to being in a relationship, and the attention and affection that went along with it. It reminded him a lot of Clodagh; at the thought of his girlfriend, Aericks’ stomach twisted uncomfortably. What would she think of what he was doing right now? Would she understand that he didn’t really have a choice in the matter - that if he had refused Elaine would pick off the people he cared for one by one, each time he disobeyed? He had joined the Purifiers originally because of his No-Maj disgusting excuse of a father, but he was beginning to realize it was very similar to Mafia; once you’re in, you’re in for life.
Aerick’s hand automatically reached out when she stumbled into the bar; clearly he was doing a good job of following Elaine’s orders to get the girl drunk. “Easy there,” he said, letting go as soon as he realized she would be okay on her own. “I think you’re good,” he added, not being able to help but laugh himself. He filled up a glass of water and handed it to her. “We have this stuff back in the States called Giggle Water; it’s alcoholic but pretty tame. Do you want to start off with that? It’ll make you laugh more, but it’s pretty tasty,” he suggested. The bar was technically a Muggle inhabited area, but he kept a few specialty wizard drinks in the back for special occasions, and this could turn out to be one of those times.

The bartender reached forward to try and help her when Jess stumbled and she grinned at him, still giggling. "Sorry. I can be a bit of a clutz sometimes." It wasn't particularly true; Jess normally did pretty well when it came to her balance. Well ... except for when she got tripped, or when people bumped her. Oh, alright! She was fairly clumsy on a good day. Still, this guy couldn't know that so it didn't do any harm for her to say something about it. "I'm fine," she added, leaning on the bar a bit more than she meant to. He gave her another glass and she looked at it, but didn't pick it up yet.
He mentioned something called Giggle Water, an alcoholic drink from America and Jess giggled at the name, nodding her head instantly. "Why not? It sounds like fun." She hesitated a moment, a touch of something bothering her. She couldn't place it, so after a second she decided to ignore the feeling. She laughed again, "Maybe it'll help distract me from my nerves." She looked around the room for Fin, pushing off the bar for a moment and stepping away to try and get a better glimpse. She promptly lost her balance and stumbled back, losing her balance but not as badly as the last time. Well, this guy was definitely going to think she was an idiot, but she found herself not really caring, which was a strange sensation. What an interesting night this was turning out to be.

Aerick couldn’t help but smile a little. “Don’t worry about it, my girlfriends a bit of one too,” he said, shaking his head as he thought of Clo. Sometimes he wondered if she was actually klutzy or if she just got too nervous in social situations. Honestly, it was probably a bit of both. “I’ve had to catch her arm a few times to save her from face planting,” he added, chuckling. He wished that she would come out at night, especially on his nights off. She was always mysteriously unavailable though. He knew she was hiding something, and he of course didn’t want to pressure her into telling him, but his curiosity was starting to spike. He’d find out hopefully, sooner rather than later.
Aerick disappeared to the back room, grabbing a bottle of Giggle Water for Jess. He poured it into a glass and set it down on the counter next to her water. “Don’t be surprised from the giggle that escapes your lips when you take a sip,” he warned her, then gestured to watch him demonstrate. He poured a miniscule amount into a shot glass and toasted Jess before taking a sip. As soon as the liquid went down his throat, an absurd sounding giggle burst forth and he covered his mouth, his shoulders shaking with mirth. “Your turn,” he told her, gesturing to the glass.

Jess smiled and nodded as the bartender explained that his girlfriend wasn't the most graceful of people either. Well that was nice to know. It also explained why he'd reached for her so smoothly. He was probably used to catching her and reached for Jess instinctively. She was glad, even though she didn't really feel like she needed him to save her.
He left, probably to get that Giggle Water and Jess glanced around, not letting go of the counter. He set the glass down and she reached for it, pausing when he warned her about the giggling it would cause. He drank some first and Jess found herself laughing softly in response to his giggle. All right, this definitely seemed like it was going to be interesting. "Okay, here I go." She nodded at him before lifting the glass to her lips and taking a sip. It tasted nice- like he said it would- and then she felt the giggle bubble up and escape her mouth. It was the strangest sensation. Even more, the fact that she didn't really want to stop giggling. Jess laughed, even once the need passed and then smiled at him. "I like it." She took another swallow, giggling repeatedly as she did so. This was one type of alcohol she actually liked.

Aerick couldn’t help but smile a little as Jess tried the Giggle Water and had the same type of reaction he did. “Looks like it’s doing the trick,” he told her with a chuckle. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a figure move swiftly in the dark shadows. He wasn’t sure who it was, but he had a sinking feeling that it was one of Elaine’s cronies coming to check on him. That could only mean one thing; Elaine was close by, and waiting to make a grand entrance in one of her little disguises. Likely the Anise girl; she seemed to like going out as the blonde barmaid. Aerick didn’t really question her, he was not stupid enough to do so. But Jess was not quite at the level she had instructed Aerick to get her to before her arrival, so he had to think fast. “Here, this will make the giggles die down a bit,” he said, quickly charming a large glass of vodka to be tasteless and odorless. “It’s a little tonic I try to keep back here for times like these. Most people don’t order giggle water since it’s a big American thing, but since I’m American..” he trailed off, shrugging nonchalantly. “When did you say your boyfriend was supposed to meet you again?” he asked, checking his watch for the time. It was nearly ten o’clock at night, which made sense for why Elaine’s lackeys were slinking about. He was just concerned that Fin would be one of them. @jessavette
