Summer was here. Bern had moved back with his parents for the Holiday and was, unfortunately, working at his family restaurant in London. The money was good, and he loved spending time with his family and his siblings, whom he didn’t see a lot of during the school year. But he had moral disagreements with the place and the food it served, however, as the only vegetarian in his family, he was ignored and often had rolled eyes cast in his direction if he ever spoke up. He had learned not to do so and to just hold his tongue whenever necessary.
On his lunch break, which he normally took during busy hour as a little rebellion against the establishment, Bern liked to sit in the park a few blocks away. London was a bustling city, filled with people and cars and buildings. But this park seemed to shelter everyone in it from the business around them. People walked their dogs on the paved and dirt trails, surrounded by trees of various colors and sizes. Kids played in the grass and the wind blew gently. England summers were rarely hot, so a light sweater was necessary, even on a typical summer's day. Bern sat on a bench and sipped his soda, which he bought at a little stand a few blocks back. He had already finished his sandwich and was just sitting, enjoying the calm before heading back to the restaurant.

Growing up so close to London, one would think Rose Weasley would have spent more time in the city itself but the red head rarely ever did. She was always either at school, tied up in reading or furthering or studies, or occasionally relaxing. That is, whenever she wasn't grooming herself to become an official Ministry employee. She was finally there! Though, she was an intern. But that still counted! She had waited for the day she could become an employee since she was a little girl. Having two parents that worked in the Ministry and were well known officials, it had always been a dream of hers. Now she just needed to make a name for herself.
Rose was off today and she took the free time to frolick around the city of London. She didn't have much to do with work just yet, being that work had just started and she was an intern. She was mainly running memos back and forth between offices and taking notes every now and then. It was still weird to see her old classmates in the Ministry with her in a different environment. But it was a nice change. It was so like Rose to be thinking about work on her off day, even as she walked around the London park. After a while, she found her legs got quite tired and she decided to rest. She found a park bench with just one other person sitting upon it and she walked over. "Excuse me, but is anyone sitting here?" She asked, pointing to the other side of the bench.

Bern looked up when he heard footsteps nearby, people watching was one of his favorite lunchtime activities. The part was mostly full of muggles since London was primarily a muggle city. Bern took muggle studies in school, but was easily bored by the subject. He found them a lot more interesting in person than he did in the pages of a textbook or as the subjects of a lecture. They were people, just like he was. And while he still wasn’t sure he’d want to socialize with them in any intimate form, he was used to having them around in the restaurant. And in half of his family since his dad was a muggle. However, this was maybe the first time so far this summer that he had seen a witch walking the trail in the park.
She walked over and asking if anyone was sitting in the spot next to him. He shook his head and nodded that she could sit. He knew who she was, but he was guessing by her formality that she didn’t know him. He didn’t blame her. He knew her because she was a Weasley. However, there was really no reason for her to know him. She was older than him and had been in a different house. They had probably never interacted. “Rose Weasley, right?” he asked, wondering if she’d think it was awkward that he recognized her.
