hello there, my name is avalbane gaeaf but you can call me ava. i'm a/an student and 15 so that makes me a 5th year at hogwarts/formerly ilvermorny. You could say I'm intelligent, knowledgeable, & witty but I personally think that I am deathly shy, nervous, and clumsy. People say I look a lot like nastya zhidkova, but I don't really see it...

Ava would like to be an artist of some sort.
9 inches, willow, unicorn hair
Height: 4'10 Ava is... unusual that is for sure. The girl was born with Oculocutaneous Albinism, which is to say that her body doesn't create melanin. So, in a nutshell... she doesn't have any pigment. Her hair is naturally white, her skin pale, and her eyes appear to be violet. It should be known that her eyes aren't violet, not really. Because her eyes lack pigment, her pupils are actually translucent, so they always have a purple/pinkish hue to them. You are literally seeing the blood vessels in her eyes.
Ava comes from an extremely wealthy family, and her clothes show it. While they definitely aren't her style, her parents have built a vast wardrobe of design clothes, all tailored specifically to her body. Being quite petite it actually can be a challenge for her to find clothes that fit her properly, so everything she wears has to be taken in.
Being albino has, unfortunately, plagued the girl with quite a few problems through her life. A lack of pigment can be far more harmful then many people realize. She has several eye problems. She is sensitive to light (bright lights can be uncomfortable and sometimes even painful). Her vision in general is poor, but it hasn't gotten too bad yet (her eyesight is slowly getting worse) so she does need to wear glasses to read anything and to see anything that is too far away. She also has Nystagmus (also common in albinism), which is irregular rapid eye movement. Basically, her eyes will sometimes begin to 'shake' very quickly back and forth. Her skin is also affected, in the sense that she is completely incapable of tanning (no pigment=no tan), but also far more receptive to sunburning because she doesn't have that layer of protection. She literally has to cake on the sunscreen if she's going to be out for more then a few minutes.
She wears a special pair of glasses (magically enchanted, of course) that help correct her vision but also protect her eyes from bright lights.
dusk small spaces being alone or with one/two people she trusts drawing being indoors exploring (indoors of course.) reading adventure novels butterflies (She has quite a few books on them.)
new people crowds (she classifies 3 people a crowd.) the outdoors bright days parties people asking too many questions being touched unexpectedly people looking at her big/open spaces. Being called her full name.
Ava really wants to get over her.... trouble with people. She's the sort of girl that wants to be confident, and strong, and be liked.
the ocean breeeze (reminds her of home), old books, dust.
Ava has severe social anxiety, and is absolutely terrified of strangers. To the point that she goes out of her way to avoid everyone that she doesn't know and would burst into tears when confronted during her younger years.
Ava, for lack of better words, is a pathetic human being. She has led an unusually sheltered life so, because of that it's had a negative impact on her personality. She has very, very poor social skills. But even that it an understatement. The girl is deathly shy, to the point that when she was a child she actually cried if you so much as looked at her. Thankfully she's outgrown that but she does get very squirmy if she catches you staring at her for more then a few seconds. For obvious reasons she is very self conscious, and she has problems with her appearance being brought up by anyone (even her own parents.). Even those that know her can sometimes struggle to get her to speak much, her verbal communication usually short sweet and to the point. She doesn't bother much with useless conversation fluff, making her quite direct.
The girl is, to no surprise, a loner. She's always struggled with making friends but she is extremely loyal to the few she does get close to. She isn't the sort of person to have any half hearted friendships, or short lived ones. So if you managed to get on this girl's good side you'll have a friend for life. She is very sweet as well, without a mean bone in her body. She is quick to compliment others, quick to encourage, and quick to point out praiseworthy achievements of those she cares for. If there is anyone that can make you feel like you are an extraordinary human being, it's Ava.
She has always been a very artistic person, though understandably doesn't share her art with anyone. She's also infamous for just.... disappearing when she feels overwhelmed. The girl has an uncanny ability to find hiding places to the point where she will seek them out upon first getting familiarized with a location.
Ava is very jumpy, and unfortunately clumsy at the same time. So you can easily startle her... and she'll likely fall on her face in the same moment. Her sheltered upbringing has left her naive and clueless to many things in life, but also very unassuming. She does't go around asking questions to things she doesn't feel a drive to know. While she is naturally curious about new places she is not curious about life and people.
biological mother: Eira Varbel, died at 23 adopted mother: Mari Varbel-Gaeaf, 51, influential MACUSA employee
biological father: Fenrir Greyback (unknown to her.) adopted father: Cadogan Gaeaf, 53, owner (ceo) of a highly successful company within the magical world
None... as far as she knows. She has several half siblings that she is completely unaware of being related to.
Ava's life does not begin the way she believes it does. It starts with her biological mother, Eira Varbel, barely out of her teens and making poor life choices. The woman was a Squib, able to interact with the Magical world but unable to perform any magic like her older sister Mari. This fact left Eira angry, spiteful, and reckless. She felt useless and unwanted, the non-magical child of her magical parents. So, she did a lot of things she shouldn't have without any regard for the consequences. IT was through these constant acts that she ended up knocked up several times. Each time she aborted the child. Ava was a very different pregnancy though. You could say she was an incredibly easy one, to the point where Eira didn't even know she was pregnant until near the end of the second trimester, and then she only knew because she was physically starting to show. Her reaction was, of course, another abortion, but her parents finally intervened and convinced the young mother to carry the child to term and then let Mari and her husband adopt the child. Mari and Cadogan had tried for years to have their own children but been unable to conceive due to a number of health complications. They were at a point where the only possibility to have a family would be through adoption or surrogacy. So, Eira agreed and finished carrying Ava to term. To this day Ava is still unaware of her adoption..
At birth it was clear that Ava was different. Albino, the doctors said. Wispy white hair, porcelain pale skin, lavender (not really) eyes. Ava's biological mother thought the child was a defect but her adopted parents (and biological Aunt and Uncle) thought she was perfect and proceeded with the adoption. Off the bat Ava had many health complications, some associated with her albinism, and others simply due to her biological mother's reckless lifestyle while carrying the child. Her adopted parents had hoped to one day tell Ava about her 'Aunt' being her biological mother, but those dreams were cut short when Eira returned to her reckless lifestyle and was killed in a drunk driving automobile accident.
Ava's childhood, as far as she believed was quite normal and boring. Both her parents worked so Ava was raised by a nanny in one of her parents extravagantly large mansions. She child, of course, didn't understand that her 'normal' life was very over the top. Her parents were extremely wealthy. She didn't know that it wasn't normal to have your own nanny, or a team of maids and house keepers or a personal chef. Being an only child as well she always got what she asked for as well, spoiling her to no end. Unfortunately her parents over protective natures (due to her health complications) prevented her from much socializing with children her own age, or strangers in any way. She didn't leave the family estate often, and when she did it was only in the company of both her parents and a team of her parents' security detail. But to her, this was all very normal.
The girl showed signs of magic very young, though it wasn't always recognized as magic. Due to her severe undersocializing Ava became a deathly shy individual. She spent much of her time hiding from the world, and magic assisted her get into nooks and crannies that should have been beyond her capability, or moving heavy objects in front of doors (to keep them shut) when she didn't want to deal with someone. These magical outbursts made her quite a handful for her nannies, and she had a bad habit of going through them like wildfire (especially because none stuck around long enough to actually let Ava get comfortable with them. If one had stuck it out she eventually would have been fine with their presence and stopped.). It also didn't help that her parents had a bad habit of inviting guests to the estate, many staying for days on end.
As Ava got older, a serious problem came up. School. Like most magical children she was accepted to a magical school at the age of 11. In her case, Ilvermorny. If their daughter couldn't socialize with a few strangers, how would she handle school? Her parents though wholeheartedly believed she'd get over it, shipped her off for her first year.
Ava's first several years at Ilvermorny were..... rough to say the least. Her stranger danger was on red alert at all times, rarely able to relax for more then a few minutes. By the end of each school year though she would finally grow used to the people she'd been around and be somewhat fine... Only to repeat the whole thing the next year with the new first years. It's a constant battle for her. Her third year happened to be the year that Hogwarts was having so many problems with students being killed. But, her sheltered life made her unaware (or rather, unwilling to be aware) of what was happening. SHe was oblivious, only knowing anything because of what she overheard and never actually going to try to find answers on her own. Her fourth year was almost the same. Knowing about the Tournament but being naturally uncurious about it all, and only knowing bits and pieces from others.
Of course, the vandalism at Ilvermorny this summer did catch her attention. Because She'd spent four years getting to know the school and all it's secrets. She was going to have to start all over at Hogwarts. She'd heard the castle was large though, so there was a bit of excitement to explore it's halls. But she is definitely not looking forward to all these new people. To make matters worse, her parents have shipped her off to England early to spend the summer with an old family friend of their's that scared her to death as a child...
