He is fair skinned, usually preferring to stay indoors and doesn't often sport a tan. His black hair is kept long, usually somewhere between ear-length and chin-length. He runs his hands through it often so it may look disheveled most of the time. He has brown eyes that sometimes look tired due to his profession as a late night bartender. Sometimes when he is alone, he may wear his glasses. He has one or two facial moles by his nose that are only visible if you are up close to his face but lucky for him he never lets people that close.

overall personality:
It's easy to see from up close and afar that Uriah isn't really a nice guy. His quiet nature often comes off as very standoffish because he prefers being alone in a crowd than making friends or small talk (two things he isn't good at anyway.) Because of this, Uriah spent a lot of time in school studying and getting good grades instead of making many friends. But that's how Uriah liked it. He preferred to watch from the sidelines, rather than participate. He was never much of a team player, anyway. Uriah does not do well on a team. He isn't very bossy, but he doesn't take orders well. He prefers to march to the beat of his own drum rather than to a drumline. He hates losing though, and even if he works alone will stop at nothing to prevent his own self losing or hiding the humiliation he will inevitably feel when he does lose.
Uriah has an insane temper. Another reason he normally stays quiet. People usually end up disappointing the Slytherin alum and his usual high expectations. He tends to throw tantrums either silently or very loudly when things don't go his way. This can make him quite scary sometimes, he knows. And while he likes being alone and having the reputation of the scary, mean guy, Uriah longs for human companionship. He would never admit, but he would welcome it in any form. Though, Uriah isn't even sure how he would handle that even if it did happen to him.
Being a Slytherin, Uriah is truly quite manipulative. He makes part of his living as a smuggler, often using the Hog's Head to smuggle things in on the low. His manipulative nature has helped him with his poker face, and in turn has also helped earn him a bit of a gambling problem. Everyone has their vices, and instead of turning to the drink like so many of his annoying customers, Uriah turns to the cards.

history:
The Fletcher family was believed to be dying within the pureblood wizarding world, Mundungus Fletcher being one of the last descendants with magical blood. Harrison Fletcher was born as a cousin to Mundungus Fletcher, his own parents being of pureblood as well. However, Harrison never showed any sign of magic in his whole life. In the wizarding world, Harrison is what is referred to as a 'Squib.' Or a wizard-born muggle. They are quite rare, but the Fletcher family looked down upon Harrison's status as a Squib and saw it as a 'disability.' He wasn't disowned, but he certainly wasn't a model family member. Since Harrison had no strong family ties to his family, after he graduated muggle high school he moved out and began to make a name for himself. He decided he wanted no part in the wizarding world that his family was a part of. So Harrison met the lovely Carrie Hamill, a muggle. The two were smitten with one another though it took a few years of flirting back and forth until they finally tied the knot and welcomed a bouncing baby boy into their lives.
Benjamin Uriah Fletcher was a happy, healthy baby boy. Harrison and Carrie were thrilled; in love with their baby and with one another. Things were great, it was like Harrison's rough past with his family wasn't real. It felt like it was a lifetime ago. So much so that it never once crossed Harrison's mind that his son, Ben, could have magical blood in him. So it never came up. Carrie never asked about Harrison's family, and Harrison never spoke about them. So the fat that he came from a magical family went completely unaddressed until Ben was about two when strange things started happening. When Carrie was at home with Ben, she would notice that things would always disappear and end up wherever Ben was playing or had been playing. Books, toys she had taken away from him, food... it was odd. Carrie tried to brush it off for around two years, chalking it up to a severe paranoia caused by something postpartum. It wasn't until Ben was almost four when Carrie found him in the kitchen around Christmas, floating the pumpkin pie she had made from the counter over to the other side of the kitchen where he stood. Needless to say, Carrie was freaked.
Young Ben had been very, very close with his mother. With Harrison always working, Ben was a big mommy's boy. So when his mother rejected him and feared him, it scared the young boy. Carrie had taken Ben after the pie incident and locked him in his room that night until Harrison returned home from work. Ben was too young to really understand what was going on, but outside of his room he knew his parents were talking. It was quiet for a while (Harrison coming clean and explaining to Carrie what his family was, and what their son had inherited from them,) and then there was yelling and shouting (she clearly either didn't believe him or was too afraid.) Ben continued to wait in his room for his mother to come get him out. She had told him to wait there, after all. But she never came. Little Ben fell asleep in his bed that night, thinking his mother would be out in the kitchen making breakfast in the morning.
Carrie had left that night. Ben woke up and the poor boy had to be told by his father that his mother was going away for a while and she couldn't say bye because it was "urgent." Ben didn't quite understand what that meant at that age, so he didn't really know what to make of it. Harrison began to raise Ben on his own. He was honest about what his family was, and what Ben was too. The older Ben got, the more he began to understand he was far more different than his peers in his daycare and preschool. Harrison continued to work, and Ben spent a lot of his time at school and home. When he was at school with the other kids, he certainly felt different. But a lot of that was due to the fact that Harrison had ingrained into his brain that he was different. So Ben kind of held his head higher than the other kids, and thought himself to be a little bit better than the rest of them. This didn't necessarily help him make friends. And it was something that would affect him into his years at Hogwarts, too.
Hogwarts. When Ben got his letter, he was nervous. His father hadn't really had a lot to say about it since he hadn't gone but he had watched his own brother go and had some kind of belief of how it all worked. So Harrison took Ben to get all his supplies when he was eleven and soon enough, he was off to Hogwarts. It was certainly something else. It was exciting but also frightening all at the same time. Ben wondered if he would meet anyone else like him, and what they would be like. But he soon found out that some people at Hogwarts weren't so kind. There were kids there that came from families known as "purebloods." There was a particular group of kids who would always come up to Ben and tell him he had "dirty" blood, and make fun of him for how his father was a shame to the Fletcher name. It wasn't really until his second year that he began to understand what all of that meant.
There were families out there who believed that pureblood wizards were the only ones worthy of teaching and learning magic. There were others who were called halfbloods, who came from often times pureblood and non-magical families. The non-magical people were called "Muggles." His beloved mother had been a muggle. Ben had met muggleborns and he probably had the most in common with a lot of them. But he was immensely jealous of them. Their muggle parents hadn't run away like his did. Then Ben learned of Squibs, or wizard-born muggles, and that was what his father was. And somewhere along the line between his studying and learning about Squibs, muggles, and purebloods... Ben became very resentful. It was around the age of thirteen that Ben finally began to really hate his mother for what he did. She left because she didn't understand, she feared people like him and she feared her son. But Ben also became very angry with his father for hiding it from Carrie. Harrison, of course, had no clue his son would end up being a wizard but Ben didn't care. He had lied and been the reason his mother had gone away. Ben became so full of hate toward both his parents, it began to bleed over into how he treated others.
Fifteen year old Ben was a quiet, cynical individual. He kept more to himself and immersed himself in his studies, wanting to make a better name for himself and not be known as the boy who was born of a Squib and a muggle. Ben began to read and study more things that weren't taught at school, such as Occlumency and Legilimency. He didn't want anyone to hurt him like the his mother had; the wound she had left after abandoning him just for being different was larger than he ever let on and his relationship with his father began to suffer because of it. So Ben began to study the two practices, and in the process cut himself off more to those around him.
Ben didn't really have a plan for after he graduated and this fact didn't settle well with Harrison. Ben stayed in his room often, and since Harrison worked a lot they hardly saw one another. When they did, Ben would push his father more and more away. Arguments would ensue every now and then, but for the most part it was a broken home that had no communication and Ben only grew to resent his father more because of it. After Ben graduated, he moved out. He didn't know what career he was going to fall into so he studied more Legilimens and Occlumency while he searched for a job; ultimately landing a job as a bus boy at the Hog's Head. It was at the age of eightteen that Ben decided to start going by his middle name instead of his first, too. When people asked him who he was, he would tell them "Uriah" and usually left it at that. He was usually so unsocial that people normally left it there and didn't ask anything else. And that was the way Uriah liked it.
Uriah continued to work at the Hog's Head. Eventually he became a bartender and worked his way up slowly from there. Once he became one of the head bartenders when he was twenty-four, Uriah discovered the back door business of 'smuggling.' The Hog's Head brought in a lot of questionable people and with them, a lot of questionable deeds. Uriah got involved in the trading and smuggling business, usually working as a middle man for people needing expensive, dark or illegal goods. The Hog's Head was the perfect cover and since he was one of the head bartenders, no one ever questioned him. Uriah became the manager, directly under the owner of the bar when he turned twenty-eight. His smuggling behind the scenes going fairly well, too. And even earning him quite a good bit of money on the side. Ben Fletcher a thing of his past.
When the kidnappings at Hogwarts happened, it brought a lot of talk and rumors into the Hog's Head. Word of a "new Voldemort" from what Uriah understood. Someone who wanted to do away with all non-magical folk. This was something that resonated with the man. He had been so wronged (he felt,) by non-magical people in his life that he really felt a lot of resentment toward all of them. He wanted to join the cause behind the kidnappings and killings so he kept his ear low to the ground. Eventually, he found an in to the group known as The Purifiers. He was a part of the King's Cross explosions, he worked with the head witch herself known as Elaine. Uriah's skills as a smuggler often came in handy, and with his position at the Hog's Head he always had an ear in the community.
The explosions after the Tri-Wizard tournament meant little to him. With no siblings or any sort of familial attachment to any young students, he really had no opinion. Same with the Ilvemorny transfers. Just more muggles they would have to deal with. However, with more destruction around him and happening within their world, a part of Uriah feels a tug to end this darkness every day. He wishes his mother had never left him and he wished he and his father had had a good relationship. But everything he wishes for he doesn't believe in. Right? Ben Fletcher is supposed to have been buried in the past... but Uriah has a feeling that he won't be able to keep him buried forever.
