He snorted, saying that he was there a few times a week. She raised an eyebrow, surprised by that. But then he clarified that it was more like every night drinking and occasionally gambling. Andy turned to look where his eyes were going, toward the bartender, but the guy didn't do anything. She looked back to Renard as he continued, saying that his accounts were taxed but that he liked the atmosphere there the most. She shook her head, "well, I guess it's nice you found a niche..." it was an odd niche to her, that was certain. She kind of understood the appeal though. Knowing everyone was just as desperate as you were was sobering - in a good way. He said he knew when to stop most of the time, after a pause. She nodded, "sounds like you know the system well enough for yourself, then. That's smart. If you're happy then I salute you," she offered, taking another long sip of her drink. Then she turned toward the tables behind them, "where should we start? I'll admit, I'm a bit of a gambling novice," she explained. "Might have to guide me through it."renard walt goyle

@lestrange Niche or addiction? Renard wasn’t going to admit to himself that he had a problem, even though it was right out there in the open for everyone to see. Donna knew. Hans knew. He was positive his sister knew. And know Andy knew. But this wasn’t some sort of revelation he was having because Hans had let him into the quality liqueur for him. The underlying cause of his draining bank account had been sitting in front of him almost every night for the last few years. The casino was the only place where nonsense wasn’t allowed, mostly because his cousin didn’t allow rabble-rousers in her establishment. More than a few times Donna had warned him about barking up the wrong tree (or half-giant). The thing though, was that he was always going to be let back in no matter what he did. Being a regular had its perks, the main one being his cousin couldn’t bear to lose his money. Renard liked to think of it as tossing free money her way. He lost at the tables more often than not and then drank and slept the night away at the bar and accompanying hotel. He was exactly like the old sods that came in every morning because they liked the all you can eat breakfast, pretending it was a mini-Vegas. His money would run out before he ever reached that point, thankfully.
“Oh we’re gambling?” he raised an eyebrow at her. He had been under the impression it was just a drink. Now she was pushing into his territory and expertise. “For you, probably Blackjack. The rules are easier and I like playing against the house,” Renard explained as he slid off his seat, drink in hand. Motioning for Andy to follow him, he headed towards the appropriate tables. “The slots aren’t all that bad, but you usually end up burning more than you win. At least the card games you have some chance at getting a return.”

He suggested Blackjack and she listens to his suggestion as to why. It made sense to her. She didn't even know what slots were, at least with cards she had some sort of understanding of the value. She nodded, "Blackjack it is. 'Against the house'. I like the way that sounds," she finished her drink, maybe a little too quickly, and when he was ready they set off. She had a decent amount of money on her so she didn't mind losing much. Plus, it was kind of fun to watch Renard be so confident and guide her around the place. She was glad she'd stumbled on him, even if it was somewhat of a random encounter with someone she didn't even know very well. She was just glad to have a reason to be distracted, to do something interesting, to spend some time out and about. Renard made things fun by being mysterious but obvious at the same time. Well, that was how she perceived him. Maybe they'd run into one another again. renard walt goyleIt's OVER Exodus 4:28
