As an Obliviator, River worked closely with the ACCIDENTAL MAGIC REVERSAL SQUAD. Depending on the situation they would call a member of the Oblivating team to come with them on an assignment, to assess the damage and decide if obliviation was necessary. It had been a slow last few days, which wasn't good for River. She wanted to be distracted right now and her mind was all sorts of upside down and all around and skiwompus. She wasn't happy sitting at her desk and waiting for the next thing to happen. Not that wanted something really bad to happen, but she could really use a distraction right now.
Her boyfriend, or something, had recently returned from being presumed dead for the last four years. She wasn't really sure how to cope with the whole thing. Apparently he had been back for months and just didn't want to worry her by telling her that he was in the hospital. His parents didn't contact her either. A strong part of her was mad. Really mad. But she was a Hufflepuff, wasn't she put in that house because of her ability to forgive, forget and remain loyal to those she cared about?
She sighed under her breath, the last thing she wanted to do was sit here and think about Ian all day long. Just then, right on cue, she was called forward to her supervisors desk. "Miss Morris, they need an Oblivator quickly," he handed her a peace of paper with an address and she nodded, tearing out the door. Finally, something to do.

Tom was busy as ever, well for the most part. It had been a rather boring week, just having to sit around and watch some place and record what was going on there and who was seen there as well. It was an assignment that he had received as a hit wizard, all because he said something against the minister of magic and so he got the shaft and got put on stake out duty. Thankfully that stupid and boring as hell assignment was over with. And tonight he was just out for a stroll with Shadow, his black panther familiar, when both of them had heard the commotion up ahead. He took off at a flat out dead sprint, drawing his wand as he did so. Shadow got there first and was busy subduing one of the wizards that was there fighting.
When Tom got there he engaged the other wizard and in short order he was able to get that wizard subdued. He confiscated both wizard’s wands and then he sent a message off to the Ministry asking for an obliviator to take care of all of the muggles that had seen the short duel between the drunk wizards who apparently had a misunderstanding over some little matter such as where to meet for a party, or something like that. As he waited Tom looked around and noticed all of the scorch marks and damaged buildings and what not. Those two sure had done a number on missing each other. He waved his wand and repaired all of the damage to the buildings and cleaned everything up as the muggles watched with blank stares, that such a thing as magic existed. And this whole time the two wizards were sitting back to back and bound with anti-apparition and anti-animagus ropes, so that they could not escape, and plus if they tried anything Shadow would put them in their place.
He heard several loud cracks as two trainee-aurors appeared and took the two wizards away, and then he heard the third crack. But he did not see where the person was at, but he was sure that it was the obliviator that he had requested.

As River apparated onto the scene, she rolled her eyes at the visual of the two wizards tied up off to the side.. Several muggles had been huddled into one area, awaiting assistance and inscruction. River saw Tom Sharpe, another ministry official. She assumed he had been the one to call for an obvliviator. She crossed over to him and offered her hand, "Mr. Sharpe. I'm River Morris, from the obliviation department. Whats the situation?" she smiled, but only for a brief moment. This didn't really seem like anything that serious, but she didn't want to seem like she was taking her job lightly. It looked as though Tom had already cleaned up the mess, if there had been one, and did some damage control. She was grateful for that.
River had never officially met Tom, but they had been in the same general area more than once for assignments and briefings. Plus, Rivers memory was unusually good and she never forgot a name or a face, especially if she felt it was in her benefit to remember them. Tom was one of those people, being a ministry official and all. Plus, she couldn't deny that he had a very charismatic face, which made it even easier to remember.

"Mr. Sharpe. I'm River Morris, from the obliviation department. Whats the situation?" Tom turned his to find that it was indeed River Morris an obliviator. He took her offered hand and shook it. “Nice to finally meet you River, you don’t mind if I call you by your first name do you? Oh and you can call me Tom.” He said in response to River’s greeting. “Well the two who were here just a few seconds ago had an altercation and started dueling one another out here in the street. And those muggles over there witnessed the whole thing. They will need their memories modified of what those two did and also of what spells I had to use in order to clean up the mess. And it would probably be a good thing if they also didn’t remember seeing Shadow.” Tom gave a quick rundown of what had happened and what needed to be done.
He could have easily done the memory modifications himself but he knew that it would not sit well with the Ministry. Tom stood there as Shadow came over and sat done next to him, and out of habit Tom began to scratch behind Shadow’s ears. It was something that the panther liked a lot. It was all a reflexive movement. As he stood there waiting Tom had an idea. “I am sure that you do not want to go back to your office, so once you get done modifying memories care to join me and shadow for a stroll?” Tom asked, I mean who would want to go back to the Ministry and sit in their office with nothing to do. Well Tom sure as hell wasn’t going to do so cause he hated his office, and being in the same place as the minister of magic was not his idea of fun. Or at least this current minister. More rules and regulations had been put in place by that damn man than anything else and they mostly impeded the Magical Law Enforcement Department from doing its job.

River smiled as he offered for them to be on a first name basis, "Works for me, Tom," she nodded right before releasing his hand and turning to survey the scene as he described what was going on. She turned back to him and cocked an eyebrow in confusion at one word though, "Shadow?" she asked. Was that a person? A special spell? His nickname?
Eventually, she figured out that he was talking about the large animal that came and sat beside him. She placed a hand over her heart, startled, for a moment before chuckling. "I would love that! I wonder what my little black cat would think of him... she chuckled at the thought of her little cat meeting this one. He'd probably climb on its back and try to tell it who was boss. The thought was comical. "You might want to turn the corner though, so they don't see Shadow again," she suggested. River smiled one last time at the pair before turned toward the muggles and making her way toward them.
It only took her a moment, but she had the muggles memories modified and had them on their merry way shortly. She had a little trouble with a child that was among them, for children saw what they wanted to see. But she was sure that she had convinced him, using magic, that it was all just in his fantastic imagination. That was the least harmful way to obliviate, to convince them that what they saw made sense in a way. With children, it was harder to make them believe it wasn't real, but you could still leave traces of magic in there.

"I would love that! I wonder what my little black cat would think of him... You might want to turn the corner though, so they don't see Shadow again," Tom laughed at the comment of a little cat. It made him think of all the countless little cats that had come up to shadow. The big cat would play with them if they were kittens otherwise he would just ignore the bigger cats. Except for a few certain ones. “Yeah it might be best if I take him around the corner.” Tom agreed as River walked over to the muggles.
“Come on Shadow lets go over to that corner and wait for River.” Tom said to the black panther that was still sitting next to him. They walked about a half of a block up the street and waited on the corner. Tom leaned against a light pole that was on the corner as Shadow went over and hid behind a bush that was there on the corner as well. Tom could still see Shadow, who was watching for who knows what, behind the bush and he was glad that a long time ago he had found the panther or rather it had found him. He wasn’t really sure but that was a long story about how they ended up as friends.
Tom took a glance over towards the direction that they had come. He noticed that River had an easy job to do, well with most of the people it was easy except for the trouble that a child gave her. But soon enough he noticed that she had finished and now he wondered whether or not if she was going to keep her word and take him up on his offer of going for a stroll.

As soon as River was finished she said goodbye to the others who had come to help them and made her way around the corner that Tom had just turned. He was looking in her direction, leaning against a light pole. "Where to, Mr. Sharpe?" she asked with a large smile. She really was looking forward to taking some time off for the day. The department really wasn't that picky about the whereabouts of their workers, for they were almost always doing something worthwhile. River also understood the need for a break, especially on a slow day like today. Granted, slow days meant that things were going better in the world, so she really should be grateful for them.
She looked around a little before spotting the panther behind a bush. It was hidden well, but she was used to looking for things out of the ordinary. The panther really was a beauty to look at. River took a step closer to it before raising an eyebrow at Tom, "May I?" she asked, lifting her hand slightly toward the creature. It was always wise to check with the owner of an animal before touching it. They would know the most about how their personalities meshed with others. She understood this. Although, if you happened to come across an animal who didn't have an owner... well, you'd just have to be kind, respectful and generous to get on their good side. In the case of this panther, she figured that whether Tom was technically her owner or just a friend, he would know about the cats boundaries.

"Well we can head this way.” Tom said as he waved a hand to a street that led out of the town. “Shall we?” He asked as he stood up and watched as shadow came out from where he was hiding or rather waiting expectantly for them to continue on their way. “Sure, but I suggest asking him. He seems to have a unique ability to understand what humans say, kind of like owls do.” Tom said in response to River’s question. It really was something quite simple to ask Shadow. Tom talked to the panther all the time and ever since the time that Shadow had saved his life, they had been inseperable, and the panther could understand everything that people said.
Granted the panther also had his own unique personality. Most times he was quiet and when he wasn’t quiet he was very energetic and playful. But piss him off and well you might as well play dead or you might end up that way. But anyone who was friends with Tom, Shadow instantly took to them, especially women and kids. It was actually quite comical sometimes to see the panther running around with kids on his back or just letting them climb all over him. These kinds of things happened the most at the park in Godric’s Hollow or wherever they might be at the time.
Tom began walking and was glad to see that River was walking next to him. “So River how is work going besides that little mess you just cleaned up?” Tom asked out of curiosity wondering just how busy she was since in his own department he could do almost anything that he wanted to. Well except for anything that had been restricted by the Minister for Magic. In Tom’s opinion the current Minister was a fool for not letting any of the departments in the Magical Law Enforcement do their job.
(sorry I had to do a little godmoding to get them started on their journey)

"We shall," she followed his gesture as they started to walk, listening to his answer about her question referring to the big animal. "I see!' she turned the the large creature and gave a short bow. "Hello, Shadow. I was wondering if you'd enjoy a pat on the head, maybe some ear scratching?" she asked in a sweet voice. She felt a little strange, but it wasn't that weird. She lived alone with her cat for so long that they had full fledged conversations consisting of a lot of Meows on her kitties end. Still, this animal was a lot bigger than she was!
As she awaited an answer from the creature, the three began walking. "It's going.. well. It's good not to be busy, you know? Means things are peaceful. What about you?" she asked, cocking an eyebrow at him, "how is law enforcement? I must admit it's not entirely my cup of tea, really-all the battles," she explained. She really wasn't one to put up a fight. Especially since war reminded her so much of Ian. Well, that wasn't as bad now that Ian was back from the dead, but the memories of while he was gone were still hard.
(not a problem, love!)
