@addilyn 10.31.2024 Two words: Halloween. Dance. Party. Okay, so that was actually three, but the necessary addition of dance before party and after Halloween made all the difference. Enough so that all of the fliers Lily had plastered to literally every corridor wall in Hogwarts had ‘Dance!’ now scribbled between ‘Halloween’ and ‘Party’. The theme? Angels vs. Devils. Or Devils vs. Angels, depending on which side the guests were on. Lily was feeling more inclined to follow the devil side this year, where in the past she would get off to being dressed up as an angel and still doing dastardly things to the partygoers. No, this year she was going to let her inner demons come out, though not nearly as much as they had over the summer. This party was the direct response to all of that after all. Being able to let loose and get two school’s worth of students into one party within the first two months of the term? Obviously she was the only one that could manage to do that. Her resume was fairly solid too, when it came to larger parties, the one held the previous March hosting the students from Durmstrang and Beauxbatons. The grim realization that almost all of them were dead now didn’t set in until she was planning out the invites, and when a little birdy caught wind of what was going on.
Now, Lily was no stranger to her parties being ‘monitored’, as the Aurors from the March one called it. They had stationed themselves quite nicely outside of the room, and there may have been a few inside sneaking glasses of spiked punch at one point or another. So when Head Girl extraordinaire Addi Slater waltzed up to her and offered to help out with the shindig, who was she to turn down the extra help? Being buddy-buddy with the school’s defacto law enforcement meant they would help maintain some semblance of order, but also not crack down super hard because one of their leaders was assisting in it. In her mind, that was a foolproof plan, destined for success and probably a legendary night overall.
As usual, the location of the party was the Room of Requirement. It hadn’t failed the Gryffindor yet, and the ability to pop a place into existence with literally everything she needed was pretty nifty indeed. There were a few added decorations here and there and obviously a few surprises for her people to find once they were in there and dancing their butts off. There also seemed to be bats flying around in the rafters of the room, but she was unsure if they were real or magicked in ones. Regardless, things went smoothly in the planning stages, and now it was Halloween – only minutes away from kicking this thing off! Lily was perched in front of the entrance, rocking back and forth on her heels like the jittery ball of energy she was, already in her devil get-up and waiting for her partner in crime to appear from wherever she had gone off to.
[hello everyone! you may be wondering, "gee colin, why have you only tagged one person so far?" well curious friends, that's because after addi is posted, then i'll do the super long breakdown i did for the last party and then tag all of your characters in that. i think a little set up usually helps, so that's what this and the next post are. if you have any questions about things you want your kids to say/do during this, hit up me or suzie on discord (or in the plotting channel on discord) and we can talk deets there. thx ]

Addilyn had been to enough Hogwarts student dance parties to know that they were awesome affairs, albeit sometimes a little under-supervised. She felt that now, as Head Girl, it was her duty to assure the students safety and part of that was making sure that Lily's party for Halloween didn't go completely out of control. Addilyn also felt responsible for camaraderie among the students, and what better what to lead that than to help out with the dance party? Once she saw Lily advertising for it she approached her to discuss helping out, and Lily was very accepting. Addilyn was surprised by that fact, thinking that Lily would rather not have the Head Girl right there with her, but she was glad the Gryffindor accepted. Now the two of them had been getting the Room of Requirement ready and it was almost time for the guests to arrive. The theme, as Lily chose, was Angels vs. Devils. To no ones surprise, Addilyn had chosen to be an angel and Lily a devil. Addilyn turned to the door as Lily rocked back and forth, preparing for the guests to enter. "Is Halloween your favorite holiday, Lily?" Addilyn guessed, chuckling as she chose to stand in the center of the room for now, a better vantage point to see the guests to come. lily luna potter (take it away!)

@addilyn 10.31.2024 It didn’t take long for the Head Girl to arrive – though thinking back through that thought, it made Lily giggle. Typically that would mean she was about to be slapped silly with detentions. This time she was a lucky lion. Everything that happened during this party that was completely beyond her control (and surprisingly that was possible), she had Addi to take the fall with her. Of course Lily would never throw the Slytherin under the bus, but they were in this together. If one went down for spiked punch or dirty dancing, then they were both taking the hit. Simple as that. Though if she knew anything about the last party that was policed, anything was possible as the night wore on.
“Oh look at you love! Absolutely stunning!” she clapped her hands together in front of her as the angel entered the room. “Funny how we matched our personalities, isn’t it? Or am I mistaken that you’re actually a little devilish inside,” winking at the Slytherin, Lily spun around in a circle, just then wishing she had decided to be an angel so she could have wings as well. They would have been so fun to have whipping around behind her! All she had were her stubby, little horns and a tail pinned onto her belt loop, which was totally going to get stepped on at some point. “It is! How’d you know? Like, the snow is great and all for Christmas, but having an entire holiday dedicated to freaks like me? Uh, yeah I’ll take that!” Muggles didn’t even know the beginning of it. They could only dress up as werewolves; she could become one. But having people celebrate what she was, was also kind of awesome. “Oh! Oh! The candy too. I’m sure Al never noticed that he was missing a few pieces here and there when we were younger,” shrugging, Lily noticed that they weren’t the only ones in the room anymore. The first guest was here! “At attention Addilyn! The battle begins!”

With the exception of perhaps some of the youngest students and the Ilvermorny transfers, no one was exactly shocked to see the posters that had been stuck to nearly every wall in the castle to advertise a Halloween (dance!) party. If any of those posters had been torn down, either, Max hadn’t seen them. Everyone knew that they were Lily Potter’s doing, and—while she didn’t think that the party met with all of the staff’s approval—Max figured that the potential for spiked punch was one of the more harmless things that could happen at Hogwarts, anyway.
Dressed in costume, as she imagined that everyone else would be, Max made her way up to the Room of Requirement from the Slytherin Common Room. She assumed that she would be slightly early, based on the fact that some of the girls in her dormitory were still in the process of getting ready when she left, but she didn’t realize how early she was until she saw that she was one of the first to arrive into the room.
“Hi, Lily. Hi, Addi,” she greeted the two girls who were already there—Lily Potter (of course) and Addilyn Slater, whom Max knew a little bit better since the start of the year because of the fact that she was a Prefect and Addilyn was Head Girl.
Compared to the costume that Addilyn wore, hers was that of a fallen angel, complete with black wings, dress, and halo. It felt somehow more appropriate to her than did wearing ivory or white. A year before, she had been in a place that she hoped never to return to again. Dressing as a devil, meanwhile, while still related to the theme of the party, didn’t seem quite right, either, especially if she had any younger students approach her while still in costume. Not wanting to run into any trouble if she left her prefect badge elsewhere, Max had pinned it to the underside of the hem of her dress—accessible if she needed it but not a distraction for everyone else.
“Everything looks nice,” she commented, not sure if she was more relieved to have beaten the crowd this time. Usually, she would have come once most people were already there, probably found the snacks, and stayed away from the dance floor if she could avoid it.

Apparently this was a thing they did at Hogwarts. Random dance parties in this 'Room of Requirement'. They'd had parties at Ilvermorny, of course, but this was different. Just like everything here was different. Katherine had dressed up as a devil, of course, and she dared her brother to wear a very specific type of angel costume. She had considered ditching the party last minute, but she had to see if her brother followed through and it would be nice to have some fun for Halloween, especially since she'd be meeting Lance there most likely. She didn't ask him what type of being he would be dressing up as, but if she had to guess she could see him easily being an angel over a devil. It would be interesting if he surprised her with the other, but she didn't expect that. She followed the general Slytherin crowd making their way to the party, arriving in a cluster and breaking away from the group as soon as she entered the room. She looked around, actually rather impressed with the decor and such. Her eyes fell upon Addilyn Slater, the Head Girl and all around someone Katherine decided she didn't like. In theory, they would probably be good friends, but being Head Girl meant she was part of Lance's whole prefect thing which meant she got to spend time with Lance which meant Katherine was immediately jealous of her. Then she caught sight of Lily, who she had met in Hogsmeade. She liked her, not that she would really admit that out loud. For now, though, she just hung on the sidelines, eyes on the door, awaiting the arrival of her brother or her... Lance. (Mentioned: lily luna potter , @addilyn , @jacob , lancelot ray linley . Lily calling her stunning caused Addilyn to grin in spite of herself. It was hard not to when someone as enthusiastic as Lily Potter was being enthusiastic about you. Addi laughed, "yes, a little devilish. When necessary," she admitted. She did have her moments, especially in previous years. Her curiosity often got the best of her and she'd wander a little more than she really should have. It was amazing that she never got caught for any of the exploring that she did. Though, whenever she came close to getting caught she'd usually convince the person doing the catching to join her. "I'm not surprised at your devil choice, Lils," she admitted, chuckling a little. She shrugged when Lily asked how she knew Halloween was her favorite holiday. "Just a guess. You seem confident in whatever, so I can see you liking the dressing up part," she explained her logic behind the guess. Of course Lily loved the candy as well, that wasn't a big surprise. Addi liked her fair share of sweets, but probably not as much as the Gryffindor did. Addilyn laughed at the mention of stealing Al's candy, "I'm sure you were very clever in acquiring it," she complimented. Then the guests started to arrive and Addilyn straightened up, maintaining her position in the middle of the dance floor for now. As people started to arrive, Addilyn took stock of who was there, who wasn't, and who had chosen angels verses devils. It would have been an interesting psychological experiment to ask them why they had chosen what they did. Max had taken a bit of an interesting twist with the fallen angel look. "Hey, Max. Thank you! You look fantastic, what an interesting choice," she complimented, smiling brightly. Addilyn was always happy to see any of the prefects anywhere, really, but especially when they were out participating. maxima ruqayyah greyback lily luna potter

As soon as he saw the first posters for some Halloween dance party that was being held at Hogwarts itself, Zeke knew that he would be in attendance. Halloween had always been pretty cool—he had so many memories of trick-or-treating as a kid, and being an actual wizard on Halloween had only added to the fun once he’d gotten to Ilvermorny.
Seeing that the party’s theme was one of angels and devils, he’d fashioned some devil horns for himself out of paper and bought a red cape, wearing a black dress shirt and dress pants underneath, plus sneakers to dance in.
He made his way up to where the room was supposed to be and found it with less trouble than he thought he would, entering not far behind a group of others. It was definitely a Halloween party inside—complete with bats in the rafters—though it was still early, and people were still arriving.
Among those already there was Katherine Kowalski, so it looked like the word had spread among the other students from Ilvermorny, too. She looked to be waiting for someone else, though, so Zeke went further into the room, checking out what all was in there.

“Hey, Max,” Addilyn responded to her. “Thank you!”
Although Max had been saying how nice the décor looked to make conversation, it really did look impressive. She guessed that that was one of the reasons why Lily hadn’t strayed from using the Room of Requirement for her parties; it could come up with just about anything that anyone could imagine, besides, perhaps, the few exceptions to Gamp’s Law.
“You look fantastic,” Addilyn complimented her. “What an interesting choice.”
“Thanks,” Max replied. “You look great, too.”

- ONLY DUST SETTLES -
ELI had always loved dances. Be it the kind in a steamy, strobe lit club. Or, the awkward, sweaty school kind where all the boys stood on one side of the room, and the girls on the other. The stench of hormones and anxiety just misting up the all the windows and bespectacled kid's frames. But, you know what beat a school dance and a club? A Halloween Dance Party. Eli had watched the flyers pop up around campus with more and more abundance until they were extremely hard to ignore. And he loved it, the theme, the idea of decorations. The entire holiday just reeked of mischief and madness. However, even though he oozed excitement, Eli had always been a bit troubled with costumes. Even as a child, all his best ones were hand sewn by his mother. Elaborate beast costumes with real horns and pelts that felt real, but never were. This year, Eli was on his own, and he's briefly thought about agonising over what he'd wear. In the end, he stuck on a pressed green shirt he'd worn at a Thanksgiving party two years ago and fashioned a pair of white wings from a rectangle of cardboard, and some impressive thread work (not). The straps tight around his armpits. For his halo, Eli had managed to find a thin luminescent glow stick from a joke shop at Hogsmeade. He'd circled it around his neck and fastened it together. Like a glowing necklace that made his skin look ten shades whiter than usual, which was really saying something. And as he arranged to meet with Brigh, his date, outside of the designated room, he worried at the plastic ring, while rocking back and forth on his heels. He'd asked Brigh because she was by far the friendliest student he'd met since coming to the UK. It helped that she was funny and could keep up with him, too. For her, he held another glow stick in his free hand. Unaware as to what she would come as, it was a bit of a slapdash invite. He'd never been good at this kind of stuff. "Brigh?" He asked, catching sight of the back of a fiery red head. "That you?" So many students milling around, it was hard to tell. - BRÍGH ENNIS O'DALAIGH

@katie 10.31.2024 Hogwarts’ Halloween Happenings were pretty damn impressive. Steve had been worried – back home they celebrated Halloween like most good Canadians did, and how he assumed most of his newly minted American friends did as well. The trick was whether or not these crazy Europeans did the same as the folks from North America. He wasn’t disappointed yet, and the few days leading up to it, with the festival the Hogwarts students put on, it was like a never ending week of Halloween. They certainly didn’t do that in Canada.
The theme of the party, from what Steve had seen on the fliers scattered across the school, was angels and devils. While he knew that he and Nora could come across as a bit devilish at times (or all the time, depending on who was asked), dressing up along either of those parameters seemed silly to him, but it was the theme in the end. Nora obviously chose an angel, though he was positive that he saw her hiding devil horns somewhere in her costume when she thought he wasn’t looking. It wouldn’t be his sister if she didn’t mix things up and do whatever it was that she did. As for himself? He had to go with a devil. Omitting the whole horns thing, Steve opted for a black suit and sunglasses, making sure to slick back his hair as much as possible. Even if he looked like he belonged in the mob, a little sweet talking would make the ladies start talking to him, vampire charm or not.
Trying not to be the first one there but also not wanting to miss out on anything, Steve hovered around the hallways directly adjacent to the one where the party was being held, waiting until the time was right. During one of his strolls around, a significantly large group of students looked like they were heading inside, which was perfect for him. Sneaking into the back of said group, Steve flashed a toothy grin at the girls standing in the entrance way and then immediately made his way over to the refreshments stand. There was no way the punch bowl would be spiked yet (and he assumed it was going to happen by the end of the night), so getting a clean drink wasn’t going to be bothersome just yet. As he gently took his first sip of punch, his eyes scanned the still forming crowd for anyone that looked remotely interesting and that he could strike up a conversation with.
The girl he picked out was standing off to the side, which Steve took as an open invite to introduce himself. Making his way towards her, he gave a small wave to try and get her attention. “So are you one of the real devils, or just one of those fake ones that think they are?” he asked as he finished his approach. The same could be said about half of the girls dressed up as angels, proclaiming that they were holier than thou. “I’m Steve, Canadian wonder, King of the Great White North, and occasionally half-vampire if I’m feeling like it,” he rifled off over the drone of the music, holding his free hand out to the girl. Laying it all out there was never a bad tactic, especially with someone he had never met before. It gave plenty of options for questions, or reasons for her to walk away. If he could get her talking though, it was basically hook, line, and sinker.

HALLOWEEN wasn't Jimmie's favourite holiday. But, it beat Valentines Day. She liked the candy and the parties at Halloween, but she didn't like the masks and that every corner most definitely held an overeager loser just waiting to scare her. Not that she was scared, but what was funny in being scared anyway? But, at the very least, Lily Potter was sure to throw the best Halloween Dance Party ever. And when Jimmie stepped in to the revamped Room of Requirement, she was not disappointed. From the appearance of bats flying in the rafters, to the spread of punch and decorations. She had to admit, it was impressive. Even for a wannabe organiser herself. Ladling punch in to a plastic cup, Jimmie's head bobbed as she people watched. The costumes were as elaborate as they were insane. Leave it to Lily to impose a strict Angels vs. Devils theme. Jimmie had gone for a bit of both in her own bid to fit in. Her short navy cami dress wouldn't win the night, but she'd bought it last year and never had a chance to wear it. So, she'd simply purchased a little toy angel and a little stuffed devil from Hogsmeade. And, with some thread, a needle and a touch of magic, had attached them both to either of her shoulders. Honestly, it took all of her self control not to just buy two pygmy puffs and dress them up, but she thought that might draw too many opinions. It was a night for dancing not debating. Cup in hand, Jimmie finally saw Lily among the throng of students. She weaved through them without spilling a drop of her drink. "Lily, right?" Jimmie asked, as if she didn't already know. "You killed it tonight!" She praised, raising her voice slightly to be heard over the music. She lifted the rim of her cup to her lips and took a dainty sip, not expecting the sharp burn of alcohol to nip the back of her throat. Coughing slightly, Jimmie's eyes widened. "God, what is in this?!" She asked, aghast for moment before taking another cautionary sip. - lily luna potter

The party of the month (probably the semester, actually) was taking place in the Room of Requirement, and there was no question of Ashley going. She was. Ash loved parties! She loved the chance to meet new people, dance, flirt and just plain have fun. The nice thing now was that she knew enough people at Hogwarts that finding people she actually wanted to spend the evening with shouldn't be too hard at all. Ash wasn't that big into dressing up. For some reason, it just never appealed to her, but she did realize that if she didn't do something to adhere to the theme she'd stick out like a sore thumb, which wasn't quite what she wanted this time. So she found a red dress and transfigured a hair tie into a headband with horns on it. Sure. She could go as a devil. There would probably be a few people there that would see that as fitting, and she honestly didn't care what they thought. There were few people in Hogwarts whose opinions mattered to her at all. She walked into the Room of Requirement a little late, not wanting to be first to the party. It only took a quick glance around the room for her to spot her friend Katherine. Ashley immediately started heading her way, pausing when some guy walked up to her friend. Ash frowned slightly, but nodded and smirked to Katherine as she walked past the girl and stood against the wall, glancing through the crowd. As per usual, her eyes immediately spotted a head with dark curls and she found herself looking at Eli. Her spirits dropped, though she kept a smile on her face. She didn't want to see him here. He'd make things complicated, and he wouldn't even know it. Ugh. With a lot more determination than it should have taken, Ash pulled her gaze away from Eli and looked around the room once again. Was there anyone here who she actually wanted to spend time with? Her smile became a little more real when she saw a familiar figure, curious to see if he'd approach her. If Sav didn't, she was definitely going to walk up and say something. mentioned: @katie , Elijah Theron Fleming tag: @sav ! muahaha

Sav had never once in his time at Hogwarts turned down a party that he knew about. It went against everything that he was to not at least make an appearance at a party. However, this was the first party in the last little while that he hadn’t come with the intent to spike the punch bowl, which was one of his signature moves. The reason he hadn’t spiked the punch: he just forgot. He left his flask sitting on his bed in his dorm and couldn’t be bothered to go back and get it. Plus, now that people were expecting it from him, he wondered how many people he could trick by lingering near the bowl for long enough and then getting a glass for himself.
Once he had his drink in his hand, Sav scanned the room for something to do or someone interesting to go and talk to. He spotted the little blonde along the wall, looking at him through the crowd and he smirked as he made his way over. “Hey there songbird.” he teased a bit once he got to her. “How do you like your first Hogwarts party?”
@ashley And anyone else who wants to bother/approach Sav.

Fiona wasn’t sure how she got talked into coming to this party, but there she was, standing against the wall, watching the people dance and talk and exist with other people without feeling socially awkward. She felt like she was radiating awkwardness from the wall and almost like she should just leave. This wasn’t her, was it? Sure had gotten a lot braver over the last few months, and she had made more friends and knew most of the faces in the room, however, none of them seemed to know or notice her. Fiona was used to being invisible, but sometimes, she really wished that she stood out, at least to someone.
*Slightly angsty Fiona has arrived*

After all of the work that she and everyone else had put into the Haunted Hogwarts event the previous night, Kaylee was glad to know that, at this party, she would be able to let loose. The last Hogwarts-related party that she had attended—Gilderoy’s party in July—had been fun, so there was no question that she would be coming to this dance party. She wasn’t in charge of any of the planning, which was fortunate. She could just breathe a sigh of relief that none of that responsibility was on her shoulders and have fun.
Kaylee had found a white dress among the clothing in her trunk, which went well enough with the theme. It was long-sleeved, at least, so hopefully she would be forgiven for not having a pair of angel wings to go with it. She stuck her hair up into a bun—primarily to get it out of her face—and slid on the first pair of formal shoes she could find among her belongings, a pair of sandals that were gold in color. Kaylee then decided to accessorize her look with the necklace her parents had sent her for her birthday—a gold plumeria pendant on a delicate gold chain, which she knew must have cost a fortune—and was ready to go upstairs.
She wasn’t the first to arrive to the Room of Requirement, and she doubted that she would be the last, either. Once inside, she saw a handful of people whom she knew or otherwise recognized from having seen them around the school, which was a positive. Seeing a girl whom she recognized as being in her year standing against the wall, Kaylee approached her. She was fairly certain that the same girl had been at Gilderoy’s party, too, come to think of it…
“Hi,” Kaylee smiled as she spoke. “I don’t know if I’ve ever introduced myself. I’m Kaylee Mahi’ai.”
