Tamara laughed nodding her head, “I agree—” she said truthfully. Tamara had always been the apple of her mother’s eye, and it showed. She always was showered with love from her mother, especially when it came to punishments on the twins. Tia got a stern word, and Tamara simply got a pep talk, something that was never really fair when it came to the way they were raised. Tamara wanted her mother or father to yell at her, to treat her just like they did her sister—but it was like she could do no wrong in their eyes, and sometimes she just gave up.
Tamara leaned closer to her friend as she spoke, smiling with a huge grin upon her face. “Oh—do you remember any of the stories she told you?” she questioned, curiosity filling her being as she prayed that her friend remembered at least one. Perhaps knowing one story about this man will help her in this community that she was entering into.

Dana Knox had always found herself envying Tamara and Tia. Their parents were…real. Scolded when the time was right, praised at other moments. At home, Dana felt distant from her own parents because of their own problems, their own arguments. And instead the eleven year old had to grow rather quickly. Her siblings, only a few years shy of her own saw the eldest Knox as their mother while Aya, their actual mother hid in her study.
”I bet she must be so scared.” The blonde breathed, detaching her eyes from the window to look upon her friend. Tamara was born a muggle, who had no idea that magic somehow ran in the family history and Dana once lived a similar life. Except that she was lied to. She had been a half-blood the whole time. ”That you and Tia are going to a new place…A wizarding school!” She laughed, keeping the smile on her lips.
When asked about the memory of the stories Dana was once told, her lips scrunched up in thought. It was something the blonde usually done when she had to recall small things, but nevertheless she did remember. Nodding, Dana’s hands reached out for her legs, pulling them up so she crossed them over one another, completely sitting upon the train’s seating. ”A few!” she began, the faint sound of the train being heard. It was the perfect scenario for a story to be told. ”The one that always made me worry the most, was the one she called the Battle of Hogwarts!” Dana cleared her throat, pushing herself up so she sat more comfortably. ”She changed some things, so I could actually…Sleep at night. But it was interesting! Harry Potter who I’m sure Mum called Harry Powell— Silly I know — decided to destroy an item important to an evil wizard…Something that affected almost everything!”

‘I bet she must be so scared. That you and Tia are going to a new place…A wizarding school!’ Tamara shrugged her shoulders, not knowing what was going through her mothers or her father’s brains at that moment. When the people had come to give the letter to her parents and explain everything, they had seemed shocked and somewhat confused about the whole ordeal. After a while, they seemed to lighten to the idea of their daughters being witches while their son lacked in the magic department. RJ had been slightly upset, even jealous that his sisters were special in something that he didn’t have, but she was sure he lightened up—he was happy when they left for the train. Their mother and father were beaming on the ride to the train station and kissed them lightly on the cheeks before sending them off. Was her mother scared? She was unsure, but she knew that the older woman was proud.
When asked about the story of the legendary wizard, Dana didn’t remember much but revealed something about a Battle at the school and something about destroying an item that changed the outcome of the battle. Her eyes widened, and she smiled slightly, “Wow—we’re going to a school that has such a hero? I wonder what house he was in—maybe we’ll be in the same one!” she said, giddy with excitement. Tamara didn’t see herself that brave though, but who knows what the school will change about her – for better or for worst.

DANA REMEMBERED THE day as if it were yesterday. When she received her letter. In all fairness, it had only been a few weeks back, leading to a busy schedule being developed for the eldest child, measurements for Uniforms, the perfect wand for her first day…Everything was a little hectic. As she sat crossed legged on the seats of the train, pale blue eyes tried to read the expression on Tamara’s shoulders. Her friend had always been a little hard to read, in terms of emotion. At least Dana liked to believe so. In some way, Tamara reminded her of her mother. Except the brunette was a lot nicer, not a liar and…Friendlier.
Harry Potter had become an icon for many people, and from the tales her mother once recalled to her for bedtime stories had proved so. To Dana, he was brave, willing to do anything for the safety of others. The Knox wished she could be the same if the time came, or if it was simply right. ”Right?!” She giggled in excitement. ”I think…Mum said something about Griff’s?” The wording of Hogwart’s wizarding school had left her mind, but the excitement for her own sorting remained. ”I think its the Red one! I wanna get into the Green one!”
There was no pink one for the Knox to enjoy, but from the logo colours she had seen from the enrolment letter, the shade of green was just right.
