The moment the dragons started flying above Hogsmeade, Edmund started looking for his little sister. They came here together, though they'd drifted apart soon enough. Honestly, it wasn't a surprise. The two had entirely different interests and as much as Ed liked spending time with his younger sister, the Winter Festival was fun because of all the different things there. He wanted to see what all he could, especially when it came to Quidditch supplies. Sure, there was the normal Quidditch supply store in Hogsmeade, but some of the stands had new state-of-the-art equipment. At least, that's what they tried to sell it as. The better thing was that he'd met Addi here, so they looked at Quidditch things together and then they were planning on just spending the day together. It was nice to be able to do that away from his family.
Still, the moment he saw and heard the dragons, his mind flew to his little sister. She already got in one accident this year that he wasn't around for. If anything happened to her today, he'd definitely have a hard time forgiving himself. He made his way to the center of Hogsmeade, grabbing Addi's hand and dragging her along. Hopefully Lusie would be there. "Lusie!" he shouted as he searched, but he couldn't find her anywhere. Somewhere along the line he lost Addi's hand and got separated from her, but he was too worried for Lusie to be able to worry about Addi too. He was sure she'd be able to take care of herself too. Once the fight seemed to be dying down, he renewed his energy into his search. "Lusie!" he called again, searching the crowd for his sister's familiar figure. Where was she?

After Hugo had saved her from the first dragon attack, and the second, he had somehow gotten her to safety, she let him go off and fight the dragons while she found refuge in a shop, which seemed to have been constantly bombarded with shield charms. Dozens, maybe more, students and adults alike had found their way into the shelter, though she had no idea what the outside of the building looked like. Once they were given the clear that the dragons had gone, or had been taken away, she didn’t know, maybe they had all been killed after all, all the people in the shop began to stumble out, dazed and confused. Lusie was among those numbers. She wasn’t sure what to do from here, she supposed it would be best to find a floo network and go home, if any such fireplace remained. But then she heard her brothers voice, and her spirits lifted entirely. “Ed!?” she called back, running forward a bit, towards the voice until he came into view, at which point, she ran and threw her arms around her older brother, almost crying into his shoulder. That was the most scared that Lusie Windsor had ever been in her entire life.

Ed was going crazy. Where was his little sister?! She was here in the village somewhere and he was hoping that she was all right, but he had no proof of that yet. He was searching for her, asking anyone he recognized where she was, but no one had seen her. He was starting to feel sick. He walked down the street, searching the injured people when he finally heard her voice. "Lus!" he called, looking up and searching for her. She was running toward him and Ed caught her when she reached him. He held her tightly, squeezing her hard. "Are you okay? Where were you during the attack? I couldn't find you anywhere!" His words came spilling out, there was no controlling his anxiety. His heart was still pounding furiously. But at least she was still here. She was safe. "Are you hurt at all?" he asked, not letting her go at all.

It was over, thankfully. Lusie had been at Hogwarts for all of the attacks so far, but this dragon attack had been the single most terrifying event to happen to her. Probably, she thought, because it was the first one that she found herself in the middle of. She hadn’t been hurt or affected before, but today she had escaped death on more than one occasion. “I was towards the outskirts of town.” she admitted. She was far down the lane at some of the merchant stalls when Hugo found her. “I’m okay…” she told him. Her skin was slightly blackened by dirt and smoke from fires, but, she was okay. Her clothing was dirty and torn in a few places, but she was okay. She was shaken and scared. But she was okay. “Are you okay?” she asked him, she wasn’t sure what he had been up to during the attack. Maybe her had got into a shop too.

Ed was still holding his little sister tightly as she started to explain a little bit. Honestly, he was just so glad she was okay. When the attack started and he looked around, realizing she was nowhere in sight, he'd begun to worry. During most of the other attacks they had to endure at Hogwarts, he'd almost always been with her. Not knowing where she was or whether or not she was all right was pure torture. He nodded when she said that she'd been near the outskirts of town, but that she was okay. "How'd you get to the center of town so quickly?" he asked, his eyebrows furrowing a little. "Were you all by yourself?" It would make him feel better if he knew that she hadn't gone through the entire ordeal on her own.
He nodded when she returned his question back on him. "I'm just fine, Lus. No need to worry about me," he told her, finally loosening his tight hold on her. "I was just with Addi for most of it. We were looking for you." Ed smiled a little, not embarrassed to let her know that he was worried about her. If anything happened to her ... Ed would have been furious.

He didn’t let her go and for that she was thankful. Lusie hadn’t used to be a very physical person, but she had noticed that changing a little throughout the last year. She hugged a lot more than she used to, but today she had probably been in contact with people more than she had been ever before, between burying her face into Hugo’s chest and now locked safely in her older brothers arms. It was a little overwhelming, but not in a bad way. It felt safe. Which was a feeling that she currently missed. While the dragons were obviously gone, she still felt her heart racing. “I didn’t get here quickly, or at least it didn’t seem like it happened quickly. Hugo Weasley saw the first dragon try to kill me and pushed me out of the way, then he helped me to down.” Lusie explained, she had no idea what sort of relationship her brother had with the Gryffindor boy, but she didn’t really care. He had saved her either way.
“Where’s Addi now? Is she okay?” the fact that he had been looking for her wasn’t really surprising, though, Lusie hoped that she hadn’t been his top priority with Addi right there with him. Though, from what she knew of Addi, she didn’t need much taking care of. Lusie on the other hand, was always seconds away from an accident, or so it felt at least.

Lusie was still holding tightly to him and after a few seconds Ed decided that he wasn't going to be the one to pull away. He could tell that she was somewhat traumatized by what happened (no wonder) and he was determined to be there for her as long as she'd let him. He nodded as she explained that she came this way slowly with Hugo Weasley. Huh. He knew who the other guy was- he was Head Boy this year with Addi, after all- but Ed hadn't really paid attention to him before now. Maybe now that would need to change since he'd saved Ed's little sister. "Well, I'm glad he was there for you. So he came into town with you?" Ed didn't want to make her think of this more than she wanted to, but Lusie seemed okay, so he figured she wasn't done with the questions yet.
He nodded easily, smiling when Lusie started to ask about Addi. "She's fine. We were together during the attack. We separated once we got here to look for you." Besides that, he was sure Addi would get distracted talking to people. She was social like that, and would likely be helping other people as well. He was just happy that he finally found his little sister. He pulled back a little to look at Lusie. "So you're perfectly okay? No bruises Will is gonna get mad at me for?" he teased, a small smile sliding onto his face now that Lusie was with him.

“Yeah he came with me. I’m sure he’s somewhere…” she had wondered where he had gotten off too, but that wasn’t her top priority, she knew that he was strong and capable, he could take care of himself. It was admirable. A lot about the head boy was admirable, really… He assured her that Addi was fine and that they had separated once the attack was over to look for Lusie. Lusie nodded. That was good to hear at least. “I’m fine… yeah a few bruises. Maybe some scrapes. Bit of smoke in my lungs but I’m fine.” she assured him. Compared to some, or most, others, she had probably fared very well. She detached herself from her brother and rather put her hand on his cheek, looking at him, “What about you, are you alright?” she asked. “You’re not hurt?” she checked in. “Did you face a dragon?”

Ed nodded when Lusie explained that Hugo did come in with her, that he was probably around somewhere. That made sense. Ed would have to find him later and thank him for taking care of his sister. He'd been so busy looking for Lusie during the attack that he hadn't really paid attention to those around him ... maybe that was a bad thing, but Ed couldn't help it. She confirmed, again, that she was fine, explaining that she might be a little banged up. Ed sighed, relaxing this time as he finally started to believe her. "I'm glad. Will would kill me if you got hurt and I wasn't around to protect you." Not that Ed would care what his older brother said. He'd be too busy blaming himself anyway.
She pulled away from his hug and Ed looked down as Lusie touched his cheek. He smiled, "I'm fine. Addi and I were in the middle of town for most of the thing, so we let the others fight while we looked for you. Mostly, we were going into buildings and calling for you, running between them when we couldn't find you." He shrugged, shaking his head at her last question. "No, there were plenty of other people fighting the dragons here. Didn't really feel like they needed me," he glanced away, "but I thought you mind." That was the crux of the whole thing. Out of everyone in Hogsmeade, Lusie was the one person he thought might need him. That's why he looked for her so fiercely. He smiled, "Really, I'm fine. So is Addi."

Lusie shrugged when Ed said that Will would kill him if Lusie had gotten hurt and he wasn’t there to help her. “Well Will wasn’t here either, so I don’t know how much he could blame you.” This wasn’t the first time recently that Lusie had gotten hurt ‘under Ed’s watch’ she knew, and both times, thus far, someone other than her brother had come to save her. There had to be a point where Ed was no longer her keeper and she became responsible for herself. Though, she feared that custody of her would only transfer from her brother to her boyfriend, if she ever got one.
Ed admitted that they hadn’t fought a dragon and she was thankful for that, not that she didn’t think that Edmund was strong enough for such a battle, but she still didn’t want her brother to have to fight a dragon, she didn’t want to have to fight one either. “Well I’m glad that you’re okay. I’m sorry that I scared you. I’m fine.” she said again. “And now it’s all over and we can go home and be lucky if mum ever lets us leave again.” she contemplated. Their mother, a muggle, always worried.

Ed scoffed at Lusie's comment. He wasn't angry at her, but from his point of view Will was rarely logical when he was upset, especially when it was in behalf of their youngest sister. "Oh, I'm sure he can find a way," he commented. Then he smiled down at his sister, "But don't worry. I'll try to not get too uptight." He didn't want to have a big row with his brother so soon after Christmas, especially since he knew Lusie hated it when they fought. She'd probably hate it even more if she knew it was over her.
She said that she was glad he was okay and added that she was sorry she scared him. Ed sighed, "It's fine. I guess no one could have predicted a dragon attack in the middle of the festival." He scrunched his nose when she mentioned how worried their mother would be. "If Will and Susan are smart they won't mention it to her," he grumbled, though he knew it was a small likelihood that that would happen. "D'you want to go back now or wait a little bit?" he asked. Honestly, Ed didn't want to go home yet. He didn't want to deal with their upset mother, but he'd do whatever Lusie wanted.

She listened as edmund continued to talk but she only spoke up herself when he asked if she wanted to go home or stay around here for a bit. He was right, there was a chance, she supposed, that her mother would never know. But she had to imagine that she would find out. There was no way to keep something like that from her. What would they say when she asked why they were dirty and why her youngest daughter was crying? “I want to go home. I want to take a shower and crawl into bed with ice cream, and forgot that I almost died on multiple occasions.” she decided, and she was extremely sure of her decision. She wasn’t put off about coming to Hogsmeade every again, at least not that she knew of right now, but currently, she wanted to be anywhere but here.

Lusie was being uncharacteristically quiet. At least, that's how Ed saw it. He was used to his younger sister being cheery and chatty most of the time, if not all. He didn't say anything about it, since he figured it probably had something to do with her being in the middle of the attacks and he didn't want to upset her in any way. He turned to Lusie, waiting for her to decide what they should do now. Her answer came almost immediately. She wanted to go home. It wasn't really a surprise to Ed, though he did feel a little bad about it. He nodded. "Okay. What kind of ice cream do you want? I can get it for you while you shower. Maybe we can watch a movie or something if you want?" He hadn't been in the middle of everything like she had, but he was more than willing to try and be there for her for the rest of the day, if she wanted him to. He held out his arm to her and apparated them both close to home, walking Lusie back to the castle and hoping they wouldn't run into someone right away. Ed wasn't sure if he had the patience to deal with people today. --- the end --- @lusie
