When Lilith had signed up for the Blishwick blind dating service, it had been to force herself to try something new. In the years that had passed since Josie's death, Lilith had led but a half life of vengeance. She wanted retribution for the animalistic manner in which her love had been killed. Every now and again, Lilith thought of what Josie would say about her chosen path. She would not approve- the girl had been so full of light and life. It was one of these moments in which Lilith had decided to sign up for the dating service, and try life out again.
But as she entered the arcade at the allotted time dressed simply in dark jeans, a white blouse and a black blazer, Lilith regretted her decision. Though years had passed, she still loved Josie. She couldn't let go. And she didn't want to meet a stranger to talk about it. She had to stick to her initial decision though. If it was really dreadful, she would just leave. Josie would have wanted her to at least give it a chance.
Lilith sidled up to the bar and ordered a gin and slim. After a moment, she added "Er, make it a double please." She didn't know how she would recognise her date, or how her date would recognise her. Perhaps someone in the arcade would know. Or perhaps Blishwick had a few more tricks up his sleeve than Lilith knew.

Lucy had signed up for this blind date event like she had all the rest of them. It was something to do. It was someone to meet. And it was always interesting, to say the least. The last time she had signed up she had gotten paired with Imogen, who had turned out to be important to her at the time. But now that things with them had settled, Lucy was back on the prowl, as she always was. Lucy wasn’t the type to be pinned down, at least not for too long. She liked to date, and she loved intimacy, but she didn’t ever want to get married. What was the point? It seemed stupid. And especially now after having watched her sister go through what she was going through with Oscar.
She walked into the bar trying to keep those kinds of thoughts off her mind. This was casual. This was just a blind date for fun. Maybe, like last time, she would know the person and it wouldn’t be entirely awkward. Lucy couldn’t do awkward. It drove her crazy. Upon walking in, she saw the familiar blonde sitting at the bar. The girl ordered as she walked up. “You’re not my date, are you?” Lucy teased as she landed at the bar beside the woman. They were similarly affiliated and had ran in many of the same circles.

Nerves coursed through Lilith as she ordered a stiff drink at the bar. She couldn’t come to terms with why she had signed up for this in the first place. She was just taking a sip when a familiar voice rang in her ears. She turned, still mid-sip and a look of mild surprise on her face. Lilith lowered her drink and grinned, breathing a sign of relief. “Oh blimey, thank Merlin if I am. Unless there are any other blind daters around?” She asked, peering around the place. It seemed however that it would be just her and Lucy as the three patrons consisted of three pimply youths shouting at a shooting game, a mother and daughter and a grossly overweight middle aged female.
With another long drink, Lilith felt the tension slip away from her bones. Lucy was familiar, and there wouldn’t be any sort of expectation. She leaned forward and gave the finger a kiss on the cheek in greeting. “You’re looking exvwptionally well. How have you been the past few months?” She asked, tilting her head inquiringly. She didn’t really want to play any of these silly arcade games. She wasn’t nearly drunk enough for that. Another sip, and then another.

Lilith seemed relieved to see Lucy and Lucy was proud to deliver well. There was no better feeling than when someone lit up upon seeing you, however, she also liked the look of fear in peoples eyes when they saw her. Maybe those feelings were equally weighted to the red headed girl. Lilith offered her a kiss on the cheek in greeting, but Lucy didn’t repay the favor with any sort of cute greeting from her end, it wasn’t really her thing, at least not usually. There were a few little exceptions to that rule, but not many. Lucy, as nice as she presented herself as, wasn’t the most hospitable unless she was being paid to be. “I think it’s just us.” Lucy agreed with a wink after Lilith asked the question to the bar. There didn’t seem to be anyone else there that carried themselves the way wizards tended to. This place wreaked of muggles. It was kind of disgusting, actually. Lucy took the barstool by her date and ordered a double shot of whiskey, neat. The bar-man busied himself making her drink and she turned to Lilith, who was asking more questions. “Thank you, so do you.” she did look good, but Lucy wasn’t entirely sure that either of them looked better than they ever usually did. “Oh I’ve been fine. Just working and minding my sister.” Lucy said with a shrug. Of course, Lilith knew what else she had been up to with the purifiers, but that wasn’t something she’d say out loud, even in a muggle place. “How about you? Life treating you well?” she asked, finally getting her drink and pressing her lips to the rim of the glass as she sipped.

With the usual pleasantries out of the way, Lilith ordered another drink. She was going through them quickly, mostly because this was not a place she wanted to be sober at. Granted, the company was not bad. She couldn't have imagined some muggle lover as her date.At least she and Lucy were like minded. "Minding your sister? In a literal sense or figurative?" Lilith knew Lucy's sister only vaguely, and she was also well aware of the fact that Anna was not as like minded as the two girls sitting at the bar. But she said nothing more on the topic.
"Well, I've just been assigned a new partner, but I have no idea who it is. We haven't gotten our first mission yet. Hope it's not some crazy savage lover," said Lilith, wrinkling her nose in distaste. She was slightly disappointed that her partner wouldn't be Irina, but the girl was too young and inexperienced to be a valuable partner. No matter if they got on or not. Lilith sighed, and took another sip of her drink. She glanced around.
"Look, do we have to stay around here the whole night? This place is depressing," she said disdainfully. "I know it's a blind date or whatever right. But we know each other. And I know that we could have a lot more fun elsewhere. What do you think?" asked Lilith.

Lucy hadn’t exactly wanted to get into specifics regarding Anna, but it seemed like Lilith wanted to know. “Literally. She’s staying with me for a while.” Lucy told her. It wasn’t exactly ideal, given her sisters political connections and ideals and their vast opposition to Lucy’s. But she was still her sister. Anna was honestly the only family she cared for. She hadn’t talked to her parents since she graduated. Or any cousins, other than the ones also in the purifiers, and even them she didn’t get along with well. It was a struggle for power with them. Lilith went into explaining that she had gotten a new partner and that they were waiting for a mission. Lucy nodded. “I’m sure that’ll be interesting.” she said, sipping down her own drink with her elbow rested on the bar-top. Lilith asked if they had to stay here the whole time and Lucy offered a smirk, “We’re adults, we can do whatever we want, regardless of what a piece of paper tells us to do.” she shrugged. Honestly, she wasn’t sure why she still went on these blind dates. She never particularly enjoyed them. “What do you have in mind?” Lucy asked, raising an eyebrow and the blonde.

Lilith wasn't really interested in Lucy's sister, but thought it was only polite. She had glanced around the bar for some sort of inspiration, quickly knocking back another drink. Nothing came to her, except the fair air of depression and old socks. "Oh, that sounds crowded," said Lilith after a moment. She couldn't imagine being stuck in the same house as her brother for more than a weekend. They'd never really gotten on well. Lilith tentatively mentioned her new partner, but Lucy didn't seem really interested in that either. It seemed like the dullness of the place was seeping into the respective girls. They needed to get out of there.
"I was thinking something a bit... livelier. I know a club not far from here. Drinks are cheap, music is loud, and the lights are colourful. What do you think?" she asked, finishing her third gin and tonic. When she stood, it was slightly unbalanced. "To be honest, anything is better than here. Even a bloody coffee shop would be preferable," she added with a grimace. The bartender made a scoffing noise, but Lilith ignored him.
