It was already curfew, which meant that Colleen was confined the to the Gryffindor Common Room from now until she decided to retreat to the Girl's Dormitories to fall asleep. But the night was still young and it was still quite early, so Colleen wasn't going to give in just yet. She hoped that she could mingle with some of her housemates, particularly her older brother Ronan, before she finally succumbed to sleep.
Although, right now Colleen wasn't ready to talk to anyone yet. There were a few Gryffindors hanging about the Common Room, but Colleen was sitting on a couch with her back against the end of the couch, and with knees drawn up so she could place her journal against her thighs as she wrote down the day's events, her thoughts, observations, comments, etc. It had been a pretty regular weekend day at the village of Hogsmeade that had not been out of the ordinary, but each day had its own uniqueness to it that always deserved a new journal entry dedicated to it. She did pay attention to the details of her surroundings each and every and remembered the ones that had made an impression upon her, and thus recorded them at night so she wouldn't forget them. While Colleen was writing, she was also humming of the tune of the song Scarborough Fair to herself, because she simply loved medieval songs.

It was past curfew and of course no one was out in the corridors of the castle right? Wrong. Ronan was still out and about, granted he was currently making his way to the Gryffindor common room. Having dodged several professors, followed by a Siberian Husky, chased by Professor Grey’s patronus, run into Professor Grey and Sasha King who were doing rounds and talking about something. They had told him that he better hurry back to the common room or he might not run into someone that was not as kind hearted as they were. Finally after going up five flights of stairs in secret passageways Ronan found himself in front of the Fat Lady who guarded the entrance to the tower. He turned his head and saw that the Siberian Husky was still following him. “I am going to go in, and you don’t have to follow me anymore. From one prankster to another say nothing of what I just setup. Okay? Have a good one Rob.” Ronan said to the dog that turned back into Rob Hudson a Auror that was stationed at Hogwarts, who gave Ronan a smirk before disappearing into the shadows and off to who knows where.
Ronan gave the password to the Fat Lady who was going on some rant about holigans and their pranks and being out late. Smirking he walked into the common room and looked around to see who was still up. Of course all of his mates were up in the dorm and most likely asleep. But scanning the room once more Ronan spotted one of his favorite people in the whole world. His little sister Colleen. Who was currently writing in her journal about the day’s events like she always did, and apparently she was lost in her own world humming Scarhborough Fair. Which was something she did all of the time, hum or sing a medieval song.
He walked past several people who just looked at him as he passed them quietly. Ronan came up behind Colleen and bent down so that he was right next to her ear. “What does my favorite little sister think she is doing up this late?” Ronan asked his sister before he pulled his head back so as not to get hit when she turned her head or if she jumped. He loved his sister and he loved to sneak up on her, but what he loved the most was that they could talk for hours and hours without getting bored. And tonight was as good a night as any to do so.

And Colleen was still scribbling down with her quill on the pages of her journal. She had been expecting serenity and peace as she did so and was not prepared for any sudden interruptions. No, rather, she had not been prepared for any surprises. She wouldn't have seen anything out of the ordinary if someone approached her normally and got her to glance up from her journal to see what they needed of her, and not unkindly.
However, all of a sudden, her brother's voice could be heard from right behind her, at right at her ear as well. Colleen gasped, sat up straight, and when turning around to look behind her, she she accidentally hurled her journal at her brother out of her surprise.
Whether the journal did impact against him or not depended on the next post, but nonetheless Colleen was still startled, even when she saw that it was just her brother trying to give her a shock. "Ro!" she exclaimed. Laughing, she said, "You weasel, you were reading my journal! And you don't announce yourself properly. I declare that you should be sent to manner school!"
She completely turned her whole body around now and was sitting on her knees, facing him. Remembering what he said to her, she rolled her eyes and grinned. "Oh, Ronan, don't pretend to be so sweet. I'm your only sister, and there isn't any other one who I compete against for your favor."

If anything he was not expecting Colleen to throw her journal at him. It hit him in the chest and fell to the floor with a silent thud. Ronan chuckled and picked up the Journal. "You weasel, you were reading my journal! And you don't announce yourself properly. I declare that you should be sent to manner school!" Ronan continued to chuckle which turned into a laugh. “I was not! But I am now.” Ronan teased as he quickly flipped through the pages without looking at them, because he kept his eyes on Colleen. “Manner school? Well if I have to go then you definitely need to go as well. Granted I think we would terrorize them to much and get kicked out.” He stated in a wondering but also somewhat accusing tone. Manner school now that was a joke he had perfectly good manners all of the time…no strike that only most of the time if truth be told.
"Oh, Ronan, don't pretend to be so sweet. I'm your only sister, and there isn't any other one who I compete against for your favor." Pretending to be sweet no that did not sound like him at all. “You make a very good point Colly, but nonetheless you are my favorite sister and that will never change.” He said in an honest tone. Why? Because he meant it. They shared a special bond as brother and sister, more of one than most other siblings did.
Looking around Ronan noticed that they were now they only people in the common room and that was perfect. He wandlessly cast several privacy charms so that no one could hear them talk, and if they did those people would forget what they had overheard within seconds. “Come on Colly let’s have a chat.” Ronan said as he vaulted over the couch and sat next to Colleen who was still kneeling on the couch. “Come on sit down already and take your journal back.” He prompted Collen to do so as he poked her in the side playfully. “So how was your day? Any boys that I need to beat up or scar away? Because you know I will, all you have to do is say the word. How are classes going, and do you need or want any help learning spells and whatever else there is?” Ronan asked all of this in a casual tone. He was just looking out for his sister as he always had. Nothing would ever change that. He wanted to hear about how things were going on in her life and if there was anything that he could help with. Granted Ronan also knew that he would probably have to answer a wide range of questions that Colleen most likely had for him, but that was okay.

Now, Colleen felt assured that her brother hadn't really seen what she had been writing. He most likely had just crept up at her for the sake of scaring her, and the way he was flipping through the pages obviously was a joke, because he wasn't even looking at the words. But even if he did, she didn't have anything that was secretive in there unless he wanted to read about her observations on cute guys. She wasn't shy about that. She just liked it when Ronan became protective like the indulgent younger sister she was.
She giggled when he made his jest about the manner school. Ronan was right; Colleen, too, was an imp. She wasn't any less mischievous as he was. Perhaps she was not as boisterous as she had been when she was younger, but she was too much of a free spirit to conform to strict manners like a matron. She did like to act ladylike when she felt like it, though, because she liked to pretend she was a well-mannered noble lady from medieval times often. But she normally did as she pleased.
"Nothing can ever tame Irish people!" she quipped, but it was kind of true. Irish people were courageous and spontaneous--well, at least to her they were. But they did have a reputation of being that way, and she was proud of it. "You and I always get into some sort of disastrous trouble when we put our heads together. But I blame it all on you because you're the older one!" It seemed that, ever since she was old enough to comprehend, she and Ronan were always as thick as thieves and causing immense trouble and hell for their parents or whoever was responsible for them. She had been influenced by her older brother and she was born with that nature, anyway.
She felt flattered when he told her that she was still his favorite sister regardless. Colleen already knew how much she meant to him, but it still made her feel pleasant when he said it in words. "Aw, how cute. Unfortunately, Ronan, if we had another brother, he would be my favorite one. But because we don't have one, I'm stuck with you." That was obviously a joke, of course, because Ronan was the best brother a sister could ever ask for.
Colleen raised an eyebrow at him when he said the wandless charms. "Whatever would we need that for?" she asked, wondering why he wouldn't want others to hear their conversation. "I doubt that we ever say anything that warrants as either vulgar or profane." She smiled smugly. "Unless...you've got a tricky scheme in mind that you wish to talk to me about?"
She liked how he kind of jumped over the couch to sit down on it instead of properly walk around to the front of the couch to plop down. Ronan, ever so dashing and sporty. She grinned when he told her sit down properly and take her journal back. "Alright, alright, no need to be so hasty, Ro," she said with amusement as she sat down on her bottom and lowered her legs down so that her feet were touching the ground, thus sitting properly. She took her journal back and laid it on her lap. "I wasn't sleepy, so I decided to write in my journal to kill time...but now that you're here, I'd rather be talking with you." She leaned over to give her brother a quick hug before pulling back.
Colleen chuckled when her brother let out a storm of questions. "Goodness, one at a time, please," she said jokingly. "My day was perfectly fine. I'd rather you not touch any boys at the time being, because I'm quite in love with a lot of them. Classes are going well--studying is a bore, but I can manage."
After she had responded to his questions, Colleen poked him on the arm. "So, what about you, Brother? How was your day, are there any girls you're smitten with who I need to know in the case they will become a future Finnigan, and...how are your classes?" Pretending to sigh with regret, she added, "I wish I could say that I can help with your spells and homework, but it wouldn't do if I don't even know as much as you do." Colleen realized that she just admitted verbally that she wasn't as good as him on something, and normally the girl wouldn't have one that. She was competitive and hated losing to her brother of all people; even if it was something that made sense such as the difference of their academic levels. Just because she didn't know as much as he did in school didn't mean that she lost to him or anything. She was two years below him, so it made sense. But still. "But that's because I came here two years after you, of course," she said quickly. "Otherwise, if we were both in the same year, I'm sure I would've been the smarter of us two."
