It wasn't even dinner yet, and already Philip was hungry. That was because he had just finished Quidditch practice with his fellow Gryffindors on the team. It had been quite awhile since he had eaten lunch, too, and after expending his energy, his stomach was growling and he just had to stuff something down his throat. The hunger was unbearable and he doubted he could concentrate on doing anything else if he was starving like this.
After changing out of his Quidditch robes into a comfortable t-shirt, pull-over hoodie, and pair of jeans, Philip had made his way to the Dungeons where the kitchen was. This wasn't his first time visiting the kitchen and the house elves should know who he was by now. He was nice to them and they quite liked it when he stopped by for a snack, so he would not have a problem getting tasty food out of them.
Philip entered the kitchen after opening the green knob, which was the picture of the pear he had tickled to turn into the knob, and when he stepped into the room, Philip closed his eyes have inhaled the smell of cooked food. He couldn't wait to chow down. It was probably wise not to eat too much so he could save his stomach for dinner, but he might just give into temptation, given how hungry he was right now.

Man was he hungry, his stomach was growling and he couldn’t stop it. They had just finished practice which was the cause of Ronan’s hunger. He quickly changed out of his Quidditch robes and put on some jeans and a t-shirt. It was kind of chilly out due to the time of year that it was, but he didn’t care since he kind of liked the cold. People thought he was crazy for not wearing a sweater but what did he care. Ronan casually walked towards the castle not too far behind Philip, a fellow chaser and friend. And apparently great minds think alike since he knew exactly where his friend was going. To the kitchens. Where the house elves treated them like kings, he didn’t mind one bit. Ronan had even become friends with most of them since he had started here at Hogwarts. At first they were a little confused when he would invite them to join him at a table when he came down for a snack or a meal that he had missed.
Going up the portrait that hid the entrance to the kitchens Ronan tickled the pear and he could have sworn that he heard it laugh. Turning the knob Ronan opened the door and stepped inside the Kitchens. Looking around he saw many elves turn and wave to him in an enthusiastic manner, which he returned in kind. He spotted Philip and standing near the entrance and went over to stand by him after seeing the table that they usually sat at while down here was open and on it was food waiting for them. “Phil! Apparently great minds think alike, or in this case great stomachs think alike. Now let’s go get some food.” Ronan said as he slapped Phillip on the back.
Making his way over to the table he passed many dishes that smelled good, and that were apparently for dinner. He was debating if he should eat a little and save room for dinner or just eat till he was full. Finally getting to the table where they usually sat Ronan saw that the elves had made that decision for him. Dinner dishes were layed out just for them. Apparently they were going to have dinner down here today. “Come on Phil get over here, the elves prepared a delicious meal which I thank them for, and there you are still standing taking in the smells.” He shouted across the kitchen as he sat down and grabbed a plate that he began to fill with food.

Before he could budge, someone entered the kitchen from behind him. He turned around to see who it was and a grin played on his face at the sight of Ronan. "Dude, you stalked me from the pitch!" he said playfully. What a coincidence that two Gryffindor Chasers, after practice, were going to combat their hunger in the kitchens. He laughed at Ronan's quip about great stomachs think alike. "Especially after hardy Quidditch practice. Talk about energy-zapping."
"Yes, let's," he agreed with Ronan when the other suggested that they go get food now and gave him a slap on the back. He followed Ronan to the table, trying not to have his mouth water over the dishes that were laying around as they passed by. However, when they reached the table, his jaw dropped at the sight of the dishes that was laid out for them, which meant that the food was actually meant for them. He stood a distance apart from the table, staring incredulously. Phil had been expecting a snack or at least a small meal, but this was a complete dinner. Perhaps being kind to the elves had really payed off.
Blinking, he snapped out of his trance when Ronan called him forward. He walked toward the table and stopped in front of it, still staring down at the food. "Dude...this is a banquet! Seriously, I had no idea the elves would do this for us," he said. "I guess that it helps if we don't act like Raoul toward them. He's missing out on a lot being mean to them...but then again, he's mean to everyone." Philip didn't like Scorpius Malfoy, but he had to agree that Raoul was the worst of the worst snakes.
He shrugged and looked up at Ronan again, smiling brightly. "I'm really going to hug the elves before we leave," he said. He then commenced to grab a plate, and, like Ronan, went to fill it with food. He chose a chicken drumstick, mashed potatoes and gravy, and a steak before walking back to the table. He laid his plate down on the table, sat down, and grabbed the chicken drumstick with his hangs and bit down on it ravenously. He was just so hungry. His goblet was already filled with pumpkin juice, so with his other hand he held the goblet and put it to his lips, gulping down the drink.

“Dude...this is a banquet! Seriously, I had no idea the elves would do this for us…I guess that it helps if we don't act like Raoul toward them. He's missing out on a lot being mean to them...but then again, he's mean to everyone." Ronan nodded in agreement as his mouth was full of food and it would be rude to speak with a mouth full of food. Finishing his bite he swallowed and then almost felt like punching Philip in the arm for mentioning Raoul. That kid annoyed him to no end. “Yup they sure know how to take care of us. That’s what friends are for. Sure the elves serve the staff and students of the school but they will always serve and forever be the friends of those that treat them with the respect that they deserve.” Ronan had always liked house elves and he got along with most of them. Looking around he saw the smiling faces of many of the elves, and all of them were looking at him and Philip. Those were looks of happiness since they had been called friends, and they had been showed the respect that they deserve.
“You know that Raoul, I would really like to punch his face in one of these days. You know what I saw him doing the other day? The slimy git was eyeing my sister, and then when he noticed that I was watching him and sneered like he always does when he gets an idea to do something.” Ronan informed Philip and then he took a bite off of a sausage and took a drink of pumpkin juice as well. “If that git goes anywhere my sister and tries anything I won’t even think about getting expelled before I hex him like he has never been hexed before.” And that was a promise not a threat, he would carry it out no matter the consequences. Ronan could go on and on about things that he would do to Raoul, the name tasted like he had eaten something foul. Rona hated that kid with a passion. In certain ways that kid was worse than Elaine. He had half the mind to suggest to those two that they hook up or something. They were some of the worst bullies in the school and he hated bullies, and they also happened to be epitome of the old ways that Slytherins used to act. He hated them and he was sure that if they were asked they hated him and he was perfectly fine with that. Someone had the audacity the other day to ask him what would he do if he hadn’t met Elaine. Well that was an easy question Ronan didn’t even have to think about it. His answer was simple, He wouldn’t give a damn, at that was the truth.
Ronan took another bite before asking. “Hey Phil do you know why your sister has been so uptight lately?” It was a simple question that he asked about a good friend. He had noticed that Alice was pissed about something and he wanted to know what it was. Granted he noticed that Alice started to act all angry and what not around the same time that Aurora and her sister had returned to school. And if he had to hazard a guess that was it. But then yet again would Philip know or not?

Philip smiled thoughtfully at Ronan when he spoke about the house elves. His friend was a person filled with compassion and kindness, and it never ceased to touch him. It seemed that his good heart was something that was naturally inborn to him, no matter how his parents raised him. Ronan was a guy with a mind of his own. Sure, Phil wasn't fond of people who were "too good" and "perfect", people who could do no wrong and always appeared favorable on all aspects. Although, there was a difference between having flaws in your personality that made you obnoxious and evil, and in making human mistakes. Phil knew that Ronan was capable of making mistakes like a normal human would. For one, he couldn't contain his sense of mischief! Phil could already imagine a strict goody two shoes preaching on the sins of pranking people and giving in to such foolish desires, and he kind of wanted to land his fist in that imaginary person's face.
"Truest thing you ever said, Ro," he said. "They'll be my friends, always."
He put on a grim expression when Ronan told him about Raoul's latest grossness. The creep had been eying Colleen and sneered at Ronan for noticing? His face went red with anger, just by imagining things. Was he challenging Ronan to try to stop him from doing something to the poor girl? Colleen seemed like a girl who wouldn't be peachy with her brother's enemies, so he doubted Colleen would voluntarily accept the freak's advances. So, did this mean that the freak was going to try something fishy? Was he going to force her into something she would not want to do? He didn't know Raoul well, but knowing how disgusting he was Philip wouldn't put it past him to do something that cruel.
"I'm with you, Ronan. If he dares to do anything stupid to Colleen," Philip drawled, "I might just spike his drink with poison." He sighed and added wryly, "Hell, I'm not all that protective of my own sister, but I think I'd go rabid if he tried anything on Alice, too." Alice and him were pretty distant, and he normally let her live her own life in peace. But, he really would not like it if she started a dalliance with Raoul.
Glancing back at his food, he took another bite of the drumstick, chewed, swallowed, and then grabbed his goblet of pumpkin juice and took a sip. He looked at Ronan from the corner of his eye when the other Gryffindor asked him if he knew why Alice was being uptight lately. "When isn't she uptight?" he jested, although it had a ring of truth to it in his experiences with her. She was such a quiet, reserved, and critical person in Philip's opinion, not to mention she had been a nasty hydra to him in the past.
He put the goblet down on the table and looked at Ronan fully now. "Alright, I honestly don't know what's going on. We really don't spend a lot of time with one another, so I wouldn't really know what has happened to make her feel bothered," he confessed. "From my experience it's rather easy to trigger her moodiness. Maybe she had a row with someone she didn't like, like a Ravenclaw. She doesn't like Ravenclaws, but I'm just guessing from what I know about her the most."
