Hogwarts wasn’t bad so far; Chrissy couldn’t call it that, not by any stretch of the imagination. It wasn’t too different from Ilvermorny, in the grand scheme of things, and that wasn’t to mention the people whom she already knew from having been at the American wizarding school for years before. It was just the awkwardness of going into yet another place that was new to her and where she fit about as comfortably as a square peg in a round hole. Everyone had moved on and had a whole semester to get used to everything that was brand new to her, and her anxiety was through the roof because of it.
With so many people around, thanks to the combination of the two schools, it was difficult to find anywhere to be alone, not that Chrissy even knew where to go. Everywhere seemed to be so full of other students, and she couldn’t stand the sudden movements of the main staircase that everyone seemed to have to use to get just about anywhere at Hogwarts. She knew that she just needed to be somewhere the crowds weren’t, and she was grateful to get out of another lesson that was far beyond her understanding and free for the day so that she could pretend that she was marginally okay.
She kept going through the motions, hoping that she might bump into Mazie in the halls, when she realized that there was a girls’ bathroom through the next door. She walked in cautiously, shutting the door behind her so that it wouldn’t slam and looked around. There wasn’t anyone else there. Maybe nobody would notice, Chrissy thought, if she just stayed there for a little while… even into dinnertime, if it came to that. Before she could hide away in one of the stalls, however, the door opened again, causing Chrissy to jump and immediately turn her head.
