April 19th
So Andy hadn't been 'home' in three weeks. Her and Vik were seeming to get too serious, and she did what she knew how to do best - she ran. Well, second best. But she wasn't going to go killing Vik or anything. So it was just easier to disappear. She was kind of worried he would confront her at work, but he didn't. She laid low in Diagon Alley and whatnot too, he never appeared. Today, she was at the Flower Festival thing, she was off for the rest of the day. She felt bad about leaving him without a word but... she didn't know what else to do. She wasn't good at conversation, anyone who knew her well enough knew that, and she didn't know how he would take it. He was mature enough that he wouldn't have freaked out... but she chickened out anyway. But, as she walked down the greenhouse, she saw the back of his head. Or, she thought it was him. She panicked, but didn't know what to do next, so she just kept walking, hoping she could get past him. @vik

Something strange happened over the past few weeks. Despite the fact that he was crazy over Andy Lestrange, he hadn't been home for weeks. He wasn't necessarily trying to avoid her, but every time he thought about her he got this twisting feeling in his gut and didn't know what to do about it. He'd never felt that way before, so he fell back on what he always did. He ran away. Vik had plenty of places where he could hide and do whatever he wanted, places she didn't know about, so he stayed at those. He thought about writing her or leaving a letter to explain why he'd left, but he didn't really have an explanation. So he did nothing. As he was walking around at the Flower Festival, Vik got the feeling that someone was looking at him. He hated that feeling, so he turned around and spotted her. Andy. His heart lurched and he found himself walking towards her, though he had no idea what he was going to say. "Hey," he greeted in a low, gruff voice. Wow, he was an idiot. @lestrange

Suddenly Vik turned around and she stopped in her tracks. She felt her own heart get caught in her throat, and her gaze softened a little. She held her back close to her with both hands, not realizing that she was hugging it. He moved toward her and she didn't take another step. He greeted her and her brow furrowed. He wasn't acting mad? Just... okay, he was being weird. ”Hey... hi, Vik,” she greeted in return, swallowing hard. How was she supposed to explain that she just... left him? Was he relieved? He didn't seem too happy, actually, but he didn't seem like he was furious with her either. ”Listen I'm... sorry,” she added, but it probably wasn't incredibly convincing. She was sorry if his feelings were hurt, but she wasn't sure she wanted to take back leaving... not yet, at least. The more she looked into his eyes though....

Andy seemed to be just as nervous as he was, which kind of made sense, but it also made Vik feel more guilty for what he'd done. Abandoning her. Why did he do that? He actually cared for her, more than he'd realized. Sure, it freaked him out a little and sure, he wasn't quite sure how to deal with it. Still, he shouldn't have left her. He smiled, trying to lessen the tension between them, but he didn't think that was going to be easy. There was so much going on between them. So much that wasn't simple or easy to take care of. Then she apologized and his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. She was sorry? Maybe she blamed herself for him leaving. Vik shook his head fiercely, "No. No, Andy. You don't need to be sorry. Really, it was all my fault. I should be the one apologizing. Don't- please don't blame yourself." He didn't want that on his conscience. Now he had to come up with a way to explain himself. Great. @lestrange

He told her it was his fault and she raised an eyebrow at him. "How is it your fault?" she questioned. She was the one who had up and left without saying a word. She didn't think he'd be the type to blame himself for that, which made her question if they were really talking about the same thing. But what else could they be talking about? "I'm the one who left you, Vik. Don't blame yourself for that," she said, her skeptical look being replaced again by one of concern. "I should have said something..." she added.

Vik frowned. How was this not his fault? He never came home? She must have felt terrible, or at least been confused about why, but those weren't the questions she was asking right now. This didn't make any sense. She spoke again, saying she left him and that he shouldn't blame himself for that. Vik shook his head, "You what? No, I'm the one who left, Andy. I didn't come home and I'm sorry. I don't even really know why I did it, I just ... had to stay away. I don't blame you leaving after that. I was being a jerk." He felt bad about that. He never wanted to hurt her, he just ... freaked out. He wasn't sure what to do anymore. "I'm sorry," he repeated, reaching forward to see if she'd let him take her hand. @lestrange

She shook her head, "no... I left... wait," her eyes narrow and all her thoughts of tenderness and sadness vanish. This was and entirely different kind of situation now. He reached for her hand and she pulled it back, taking a step back. She brought her hand to her chest. "You left me? You left without telling me?" she questioned, her tone harsh at first until a small smile started to crack her lips, "Vik, seriously, I left you. I stopped coming home without telling you. I freaking ghosted you," somehow a chuckle escaped through her nose and she kept her mouth shut, trying to stop it.

This conversation was all sorts of confusing. Andy was insisting that she left. Vik shook his head, rolling his eyes at her. Did she think she was being funny? Then she started yelling at him and he felt guilty. "Yeah, I did. I'm- I'm sorry. Really, I am." He never wanted to hurt her, he just wasn't really thinking about what he did then. He couldn't seem to control himself. His eyebrows furrowed. Why was she smiling at him. Why was she saying that she left him. "No, you didn't. I ghosted you." He paused a second. "Wait ... did we ghost each other?" There was no way. That would just be ... the odds were astronomical. @lestrange

He repeated that he was sorry, but Andy was barely listening. She was too busy figuring out what they had done. When he said it out loud, that they had ghosted each other, she nodded, and she couldn't resist the smile of amusement that was on her face. "I've never heard of anything like this," she shook her head. "I think we just... Went too fast," she admitted, the amusement making way for a more real moment. "I don't want to give it up yet. Not really. I just... Like you said, couldn't help it." Her brow furrowed. "Guess we're both runners. Come on, let's get coffee or something," she suggested.

At least Andy started to think it was funny now. She wasn't glaring at him and giving him the evil eye. He rolled his eyes, "Well, we are pretty unique, you and me," he teased with a small laugh, nodding when she suggested that they went too fast. "Probably. Sorry if you felt pushed into it," Vik said, but he didn't really think she'd felt pressured into it. She moved in because she wanted to. He smiled, a little more sincere when she said that she didn't want to give up. "Me neither," he agreed, smiling at her. Then he chuckled, "Maybe we are, but now that I know you are ... I might just seek you out instead of running," he teased. --- the end --- @lestrange
