Riley fudge was confident in his choice. Even if it meant that his entire world would change. Actually, especially if it meant that his entire world would change. However, he had to admit, he was still scared of the lashback he would surely receive from his family and his intended In-Laws. But what could they really do? Have him tortured or killed at the worst. Even that might be better than letting them force his future. The only thing he felt bad about was putting Priscilla in this position. She hadn’t chosen to be made to marry him. She was as innocent as he was in all this, and he knew that she did want to go through with all of this. So it made him feel a little bad for the scene that he was about to make.
Riley walked through the path to the village with Dom at his side until he made it to the tea shop which had been extended and decorated in a vastly different fashion than usual. The pink walls were replaced with classy tapestries and the ceiling almost resembled stars. Riley would very much have enjoyed being here if he wasn’t the one the party was being thrown for. While he hated his family obligations, he did appreciate a good party.
People turned to look as he walked in, probably having expected him earlier than now. He didn’t blame them. The party had been going on for what seemed like ages already. He hadn’t even started getting dressed before the party started. He had been too wrapped up in his own thought process. But the more he thought about it all, the simpler it got. It was Kinsey. He loved Kinsey. He would do anything for her, he always told her that. But now when it really counted, he was letting fear dictate his actions. That wasn’t who he was. He couldn’t let himself be that guy. He would never make a stand for himself if he didn’t do it now.
It wasn’t hard to find his parents in the crowd. They were near the center, at the table laid out for him and Priscilla and their family. His father was standing, talking with a few older men that Riley recognized but could remember the names of. His mother sat chatting with Priscilla’s mother across the table. Whether Priscilla and Lydia were there or not, he didn’t notice. He wasn’t looking for them, but he couldn’t imagine they were very far from the center of attention.
“Riley. There you are.” His father said in a chipper voice, though Riley could see the disappointment and frustration in his eyes. It was unheard of for a Fudge to be late, especially to their own party. “People have been wondering when you were going to get here.” Riley knew that his father really wanted to say ‘if you were going to show up’. But he was being civil in front of his guests.
“I need to talk to you.” Riley insisted. “now. Both of you.”
“I’m sure whatever it is it can’t wait until after the party.” His mother cooed with daggers in her eyes. “Let’s get you a drink and find your bride-to-be…”
“No. this is exactly it. I won’t have to telling me what to do and silencing me anymore. I won’t be marrying Priscilla. I won’t be marrying anyone unless I decide to marry them. Consider this the end of our relationship. I don’t want your influence in my life anymore. You got your claws into Liam and Lydia so they can preserve the precious family name and pure blood values. I’m not doing it anymore.” Riley felt extremely aware of how dramatic he was being, but he didn’t know another way to go about saying it.
“I apologize for any embarrassment I’ve caused today, but luckily, this will be the last time you’ll have to worry about that.” He felt kind of good about making a scene, he was doing something that he knew would improve his life. If he still had his life. “don’t expect me home ever again.” He meant it. He had enough saved up over the years to survive for a second before he started getting paid from his job. He needed need them. And he certainly didn’t want them.
With that being said, he turned and left the shop, giving a wink to his best friend as he passed her by again. He ignored his mother calling after him until he was out of earshot. He had someone else to find and he fidgeted with the ring in his pocket as he left.

Priscilla's Reaction The party had been going on for what felt like ages. Of course, Priscilla was loving every minute of it; and why wouldn't she? She lived for events, especially when she was the focus. Aside from her wedding day, for which the guest list would be cut down substantially, this was her chance to show off to all of Hogwarts—and, well, she had already seen Kinsey in the girls' bathroom that morning. She was enjoying herself, chatting with people she knew and even some she didn't. Just as promised, she was intent on making sure that her family's reputation was upheld—and that she was finally just as grown-up as her older siblings.
Priscilla, like her and Riley's immediate families, was at Madam Puddifoot's, making the rounds and greeting the students who had come to the party. Did she even know all of their names? No, but it didn't matter. Riley hadn't arrived yet, and Priscilla was desperate for any way to kill time that she could find.
When Riley finally entered, he certainly didn't look as Priscilla expected. Silently, her eyes followed him as his father spoke to him, and she quickly made her way back to the center of the room. Whatever was happening, this wasn't what they had planned.
She tried to keep a neutral expression as Riley spoke, but his words made that difficult.
"I won’t be marrying Priscilla. I won’t be marrying anyone unless I decide to marry them. Consider this the end of our relationship. I don’t want your influence in my life anymore."
Riley couldn't have been serious. She thought about cutting in to say something to him—anything to change his mind—and then remembered where she was and all of the people around.
"I apologize for any embarrassment I’ve caused today, but luckily, this will be the last time you’ll have to worry about that."
Some apology that was! He had just ruined her life, and he hadn't even apologized to her for it. Did all of those months mean nothing to him? Had someone put him under the Imperius Curse? The Riley that she knew had loved her. In fact, he had rarely said no to her.
Riley's mother called after him before she could, but he didn't seem to care. He had already left Madam Puddifoot's for wherever he was going to go.
Priscilla, seeing that he wasn't going to be returning, immediately ran back to where she had prepared for the party with her mother and sisters before their guests had arrived. Hopefully, she would make it there before any of them would see her in tears.

Believe it, I see it I know that you can feel it No secrets worth keeping So fool me like I'm dreaming BERENICE'S REACTION Berenice was walking around with her son, carrying him in her arms as she took in the entire event. From where she stood, she took note of her husband dancing with their daughter, her mother and father conversing at a table, Prissy making her rounds and talking with people, and her various other siblings doing their own thing. Her gaze continued to move around, finding the two siblings of Riley as well as his parents, but she frowned, she hadn't seen him yet. Where was he? It was his party, after all. She started making her way towards Prissy; however, she was stopped by the sound of someone speaking loudly, almost angrily. Her attention snapped towards the sound, finding Riley talking to his parents. Everyone fell silent, even the music seemed to stop, as Riley continued to grow louder and louder as he spoke. 'I won’t be marrying Priscilla. I won’t be marrying anyone unless I decide to marry them. Consider this the end of our relationship. I don’t want your influence in my life anymore. I apologize for any embarrassment I’ve caused today, but luckily, this will be the last time you’ll have to worry about that.' And with that, he was gone, and everyone was left shocked and embarrassed as Mrs. Fudge screamed after him, calling him back. Berenice looked for her sister, finding her making a run for the background. She quickly moved towards her husband, handing their son to him before turning on her heels and taking off after Priscilla. What kind of son did the Fudge family raise? After all this...he refused? Who did he think he was embarrassing, not only his family but her family as well. Oh, the Rita Skeeter was going to have a field day over this, hell all the Tabloids were.

Dom and Riley were on a mission and she, for one, was very proud of her best friend. She knew he struggled this year with his engagement and his feelings for Kinsey Bainbridge. She knew that he was trying to do the right thing, though her opinion on the "right thing" to do didn't always match up with his. Either way, Riley Fudge was taking a stand and making his decision today. She wasn't quite sure how it was all going to turn out, but she was proud of him for what he was going to do. The pair of them walked through Hogsmeade in silence until they reached the familiar tea shop that the Fudge's and Rosier's rented and decorated for the event. She nodded to Riley as he moved on without her, though Dom kept as close as she could on the edge of the crowd. Having her nearby definitely would not help his parents deal with this, since she was a "blood traitor" Weasley. She just wanted him to know he wasn't alone. She listened to the beginning of the conversation, frowning as both of his parents spoke to him in their condescending tone, his mother disregarding Riley when he explained wanting to talk to them. Then she smirked. If they accepted his offer, maybe Riley wouldn't have done this in front of everything, but they treated him like a child and she guessed what would happen next. Dom was right. While she didn't know exactly what words Riley would use- or how dramatic he would be- she knew what his message was and he got it across quite clearly. She couldn't help it when the corners of her lips turned up ever so slightly. Riley was standing up to his parents with confidence and determination and she was proud of him. He apologized before turning to walk away and winking at Dom as he did so. She nodded to him, watching him leave for a second before noticing the reactions of Priscilla and her sister. Then Dom set off, looking for Joe in the crowd. She felt bad that she was a little late, but Riley needed her support and she'd do it all over, just the way she did. At least things were finally looking up for her best friend. He deserved that.

And the walls came tumbling down.
Riley, her brother who she knew had been struggling with the family values, had finally made the commitment to Priscilla and the engagement party was under way. But, of course, he ruined all of that.
The first thing Lydia noticed when he walked in was how his suit shirt was not the color she would have chosen for this occasion. For the occasion of engagement party or of making a scene. Either way, he was not wearing the right thing. That was his second biggest sin. The first, of course, being fact that he was making a fool out of the family by behaving this way in such a public setting. He couldn't have had this conversation with their parents in private? No, he had to be a drama queen about it. As he marched away, Lydia searched the crowd with her eyes for Wesley. She wanted to tell their older brother to go after Riley, to talk some sense into him.
She took a breath, and turned to look at Miles beside her. She reached for their hand, grasping it tightly as anger and shame rushed through her.
And Kinsey Bainbridge was dead meat.

To think that his night was going so well. He had been flirting with multiple women, both older and younger, that had graced his brother and future sister-in-law's party. They had been into him, especially the beautiful blonde that he was currently putting all his charm into wooing. He didn't know who she was, what her blood status was, but she was going to be in his bed that night. At least, she was going to be, until his younger brother ruined everything.
The moment that he heard upset words coming from the other side of the room, all attention was on his parents and younger brother. He was telling them that he would not marry unless for love, that he didn't want to be with Priscilla and that he was done with the arranged marriage that had been set up for him. He left in a rush, leaving many people visibly upset and some looking slightly uncomfortable.
Glancing towards the girl, he gave a soft chuckle. "Youth...am I right?" he questioned, trying to lighten the mood; however, she was done with him and not having it. Grabbing her drink, she got up and disappeared, leaving him angry with a clenched fist. Not only would his parents want him and Lydia to marry to save the family name, but now he had to get married as soon as possible. "Thanks a lot, prick," he muttered to himself, referring to his brother, as he threw back his drink.
