Adam remembered the day he'd been crowned Queen as if it was yesterday. Except he didn't. He'd been a small child when it had happened and everything from that time was blurry except for the fire. That had always shone through the pages of his personal history like a destructive light, touching and corrupting all it encountered. Still, his entire life he'd been groom to take on the mantle he'd been given before he could realise what it even entailed. To hear somebody else had inherited the possibility of that same burden had caught his interest as well as filled his heart with sorrow. To the public, Amsterdam was the Queen and she was clearly a young woman coming into her own. Outside the public eye he was more than just the Queen. He was genderfluid, a fact he hid from most people, lest the public became aware of it. Yet royalty was always under scrutiny and only one of her own would truly understand.
So he'd sent an owl to the King to Be earlier that day to request a meeting of two that share similar burdens and even possibly responsibilities. Perhaps he could acquire some council from the other royal or give his own. Not that he had a lot of experience but the regular owls from her uncle and guardian as well as King reagent meant he had more experience in ruling than he was supposed to have at his age. Maybe it all would be much easier if he had somebody to share it with. Maybe the other man would view things in a similar light. He could only hope as he stood there, on the steps of the castle, looking out over the courtyard as he straightened his suit. Today was a day off, which only meant he had a job to do and he had a habit of dressing somewhat appropriately. At least here he could show who he truly was, most of the time at least. He did always keep his guard up, lest people try to destroy him.
