The silence between Jessie and Simon was nearly deafening, as the two Gryffindors stomped their way towards the Herbology greenhouse. She absolutely refused to be the one to break the quiet bubble surrounding them. You see, she was in a rare form. Jessie, the ever-so-bubbly, and lord knows talkative, Lioness, was in a royal mood. And Simon was to blame. It was nearly impossible for her to remain angry for more than a few seconds without falling apart with guilt. Now, she wouldn't say she was absolutely boiling in rage quite yet. She was, however, aggravated enough to keep her mouth shut. Which in itself was a rarity. As the dew gathered at the tip of her shoes, her thoughts her were pulled back to how early it was. It was just after dawn. An ungodly hour to be up on a Saturday. The night before Jessie had received an owl from the Herbology professor, detailing that she needed to go ahead an harvest the Chomping Cabbage before the greenhouse was to be used for last minute tutoring. To be perfectly honest, Jessie also hated getting up early on days off. She knew though, that it would be their only chance to collect the Chomping Cabbage in the right stage of it's growth. So that night she had sent an owl to Simon, informing them that they would need to bump up their time. Whether or not he received it, Jessie did not know. After waiting for him in the common room, for more than half an hour, she finally sent one of the early rising boys to fetch him and bring him down. Needless to say, he was not happy. She had originally tried her best to put on a cheery attitude, but Simon clearly wasn't having it. It was soon evident, by his snide remarks and angry glances, that not even she could bring him to a happier state of mind. It angered her because she was trying her damn best to make sure they could still brew this potion within a reasonable amount of time for him. She was too angry to admit this though, so on they trudged in silence. simon sixten svendsen

IT ACTUALLY MARCH, IGNORE THE APRILS IN THIS THREAD SORRY
April 2025Simon couldn't believe he was up at such an ungodly hour. Somehow he managed to get some extra sleep until that stupid underclassmen tried to wake him up all thanks to Jessiel; earning the kid a swift pillow to the face. Simon waited an extra ten minutes before prying himself from the mattress and slowly getting himself ready.
Truthfully, he received the owl and he pretended like he didn't. Jessie was crazy if she thought she could get him up before the sun on a weekend...
Well, the joke was clearly on him as his feet dragged him to the greenhouses, a couple of steps behind Jessie as he yawned and grumbled his way. He was completely content with peace and quiet; at least he didn't have to listen to her talking a million miles a minute when she was pissed. The angry look on her face kind of made him want to laugh, and his vampire senses were tingling, because he could sense a part of her that definitely wanted to rip his bollocks off.
As they approached the pathway to the greenhouses, he removed his hands from his hoodie pockets and pushed the door open, holding it open for her because he wasn't a complete jerk. Simons eyes looked up at the plants hanging from the ceiling and scanned the random pots scattered throughout the learning space. He didn't take herbology anymore, so this wasn't an area he was familiar with. Simon enjoyed smoking plants, not growing them. Simon shoved his hands back into his hoodie pocket, hood up to conceal his bed head, "Where do they keep the cabbages?" he asked stupidly, a yawn slipping past his lips as he leaned against the pot of a mandrake, nearly knocking it over.

Jessie's anger wavered just the slightest as Simon held the greenhouse door open for her. Though, she was still upset. The gesture only thawed her heart a little. She stalked past him without muttering a thank you, purposely forgetting her manners. The familiar smell of the greenhouse soon filled her nose, as he asked her where the cabbages were. She rolled her eyes as he yawned. Still refusing to talk, she made her way towards the back of the greenhouse. The little corner where the cabbages were remained untouched. It was the same as it had been everytime she had gone to check on the plants. Her cauldron had also been left here overnight, seeing as how she didn't want to carry it so early in the morning. Jessie began to fire up her cauldron. She carefully glanced at Simon out of the corner of her eye. Blimey. She didn't know why the other Gryffindor made her so angry. It brought out a part of her that she didn't like too well. She shook her head to clear her thoughts, pulling out the instruction list from her cardigan pocket. Her thumb and index finger carefully pinched her lower lip as she read over the instructions once again. Boy, he was not gonna like this part. She cleared his throat in order to gain his attention, but refused to look at him. She pretended to ready the area for the cabbage extraction as she spoke. "So, I'm going to be extracting the cabbage from the soil while you... well, while you sweetly compliment it. You'll have to first distract it by holding a carrot out. After that you can start complimenting it. I'm not quite sure how long it will take to get it comfortable, but I'll be able to feel when it's ready. Can you do that? Or is it too early in the day still?" Her snarky comment fell off her lips with a touch of anger. She just couldn't help it. simon sixten svendsen

April 2025Simon noticed that Jessie refused to look in his direction once she fired up the cauldron. That was humorous to him, too. She was really angry at him, which was unfortunate because he wasn't really sorry for his irresponsible actions. Simon was more sorry that he was here more than anything. He lingered behind her a few feet, leaning against the countertop as she explained what she needed him to do. She had to be messing with him...
The lanky Gryffindor cocked his head to the side, kicking dirt under his feet aimlessly. Her snarky comment caused a smirk to slowly spread onto the corners of his mouth. Well, if she was gonna fetch an attitude, he was gonna throw it right back. His blue eyes flickered over to her, boring into the back of her head, "Too early to deal with you." he stated, not holding back. Simon snorted, still not believing her instructions from before. "Uh...huh? You want me to what to the cabbage?" he asked her in disbelief. There was no way he had heard her correctly. She was trying to make him look like an idiot for making her wait for so long!

Jessie's head snapped toward his direction, as he threw an attitude right back at her. Her face quickly pinked up in anger. Her normally, soft doe-like eyes were glaring daggers at him. The slimy smirk on his face enraged her even more. Steeping with anger, she dug her hands into her pockets. As she retrieved the gloves and the carrot she was groping around for, she pressed them hard against his chest, nearly making the movement a shove. "Here," she snapped, "You might want these. Like I said, you have to compliment the cabbage to calm it. Or else it'll ruin the potion."She was beginning to take Simon's point of view on things. The next week or so was going to be bloody awful for her. With his attitude, 'devil may care' hair style, and infuriating smile... She might have to be admitted into Mungo's after this ordeal. Hell, she may have to take up drinking just to get by until their potion was done. Without waiting for him to make another snide comment, Jessie readied herself by the cabbage. Her hands hovered above the spine of the plant, awaiting the moment to grasp it. "Well come on, will you?"

April 2025Simon watched her face pink up at his snide remark; the smile growing ever so slightly on his face as her daggers pierced into him. She shoved a pair of gloves into his chest, but he didn’t falter as she pushed into him. Jessie was dead serious about the complimenting the stupid cabbage. Grumbling, he tossed the gloves aside and kept the carrot instead.
Simons eyebrows threaded at the center of his forehead when she tried to expedite the process, telling him to hurry, ”Damn, woman, like give me one frickin second...” he demanded with a scoff, rolling his eyes to the back of his skull out of annoyance. Simon finally took his place by the cabbage, much closer to Jessie than he had been, ever.
”Uhh. Hey, cabbage.” he started lamely, mentally face palming at the start already. This felt so stupid. He sighed, ”You’re looking really big and strong today, with the greenest green I have ever seen.” he said, poking his finger in the soil and wiggling it, “Will you come out? We have a delicious, nutritious, carrot for you...” he stated, eyes then darting to Jessie expectantly. ”This is so stupid.” he grumbled.

Jessie scoffed as he threw aside the gloves. By Merlin, she might have to murder him today. He'd be great fertilizer for the plants at least. As Simon finally began to compliment the darn thing, she placed her hands on the spine of the cabbage once again. His compliments were satisfactory, if that. "Please tell me you are better at this when it comes to women," she snapped. When he mentioned how stupid this was, she once again found herself staring harshly at him. She was about to bite his head off when the cabbage snapped at her finger. There was a fraction of a second where Jessie froze. The pain hadn't set in yet, and she just stared down at the cabbage that was clamped down on her finger. However, reality quickly came crashing down on her, as her finger began to throb from the pressure of the cabbage's bite. "F*CK!" she screeched. Jessie was flinging her right hand about wildly, ripping the cabbage away from its roots. Though she was flailing about, she had enough time to recognize the blood oozing from her finger. Panic welled up within her. "Get it off! GET IT OFF," she screamed. Jessie thrashed her arm about even more wildly. It was enough to get the damn plant off of her. However, she had accidentally thrown it in Simon's direction. simon sixten svendsen

April 2025When Jessie snapped about his compliments, he cocked his head to the side to give her a 'really?' look. He wasn't offended by it. Honestly, he had to give her a little credit for the impeccable timing for the situation. His mouth opened before snapping closed, "Harsh crowd." he deadpanned. As the words left his mouth, the cabbage shifted in its pot and Jessie let out an ungodly yowl.
"OHH--hell no, f*cking sh*t, f*ck, f*ckity f*ck--" A stream of curse words escaped his mouth as he sang. His eyes widened and he hopped to his feet, instantly alert, but feeling hopeless and unsure what to do for the situation. She yelled at him to get it off her, but the cabbage released its bite and came soaring toward him. Simon caught it easily, being the good athlete and Chaser he was... The cabbage was snapping its jaw and teeth at him menacingly, suddenly latching onto the sleeve of his hoodie.
Simon flailed his arms around wildly before slamming it to the ground with a surprised expression. Freezing with eyes wide, "I didn't mean to do that." he said quickly, looking down at the cabbage, which was now barely wiggling on the ground. Simon actually felt kind of bad that he may have hurt it, but come to think of it, the cabbage was about to be brewed anyways. The half vampire could smell blood but couldn't see it yet.

Jessie stared in horror as she realized the cabbage was now snapping at Simon. Her hands covered her mouth while he flailed around with it. Her horror deepened when he threw the plant onto the ground, effectively ruining it. It would be too aggravated and damaged to use it successfully now. Mouth agape, she looked down at the ground. Seconds later her gaze shifted to Simon, and a surge of fury coursed through her veins. Her blood was boiling. "Are you daft?!" she asked, voice rising in volume. Without thinking, Jessie grabbed the closest thing to her, an empty pot, and chucked it in his general direction. "YOU STUPID...LITTLE...DUNGBEETLE," the furious little Lioness yelled, pausing only to grab more things to throw his way. "Do you realize what you've just done?" She stomped towards him, placing her tiny hands on his chest and shoving him. "You've just set us back by another week!" Another shove. "I can't possibly spend that long with you." One more shove. The blood on her finger had been forgotten, until she noticed it smeared across his hoodie. She still paid it no heed. Anger was still bubbling over within her, and the blood was the least of his worries. simon sixten svendsen

April 2025Simon wasn't expecting Jessie to lose her composure so fast. After seeing the damaged cabbage on the ground, she flipped. An empty pot came flying at him, hitting him in the side. Simon chuckled because he wasn't sure how else to react. And because she called him a dung beetle. This entire situation was so f-cked. He felt like it was her fault as much as it was his but she was trying to blame it all on him...
The smaller girl came flying at him, "YO!" he stepped back as she shoved him. He'd never lay a hand on a female unless if he were truly afraid for his life. Jessie looked violently pissed in the heat of the moment, but she wasn't going to physically do any damage, especially to a half vampire. She threw more things his direction, making a complete mess of the greenhouse. Simon stepped back nearly knocking over her active cauldron trying to dodge other things. "Stop!" he bellowed. Simon narrowed his icy blue daggers at her, "That thing was pissed before I even touched it!!" he yelled back at her, finding it hard to take all of the blame for the situation.
He went silent as his eyes finally found the blood source, her finger. "You're bleeding." he informed her calmly, gesturing to her blood on his hoodie.

Jessie froze at the sound of Simon's bellowing. All of the sudden it was like she was being drenched in a bucket of ice water. Snapping out of her anger-fueled manic episode, a lot of things came to her attention. Her labored breathing from getting so worked up, the pain emanating from her bleeding finger, and the lack of distance between her and Simon. Her hands were still pressed against Simon's chest, as she examined the mess she had made on his hoodie. Not to mention the destruction she had caused in the greenhouse. Hot tears stung her eyes, threatening to spill out of them. She carefully pushed herself away from him to hide her face. Both from the pain in her finger, and out of embarrassment. Her face was still red, only this time it was because of shame. She wasn't sure what had happened. She only knew that the anger she felt was insane. It was unlike any sadness or happiness she had ever felt. But this violent act wasn't like her. It was the complete opposite of the moral code she upheld. With her uninjured hand, Jessie pulled out her wand and pointed it at Simon. "Scourgify," she murmured, promptly cleaning up his hoodie. She remained silent, and refrained from making any sort of contact with Simon. Jessie set about picking up the broken pots in the greenhouse, as well as the other things she had thrown at him. What a mess. She was almost numb at this point. In shock from her actions. Her finger was the least of her worries. It remained unbandaged as she focused on cleaning up her terrible, terrible mess. simon sixten svendsen

April 2025Well. Things got intense fast. Simon didn't know what to do now. Jessie was still fuming and the look on her face admittedly made him a little uncomfortable. When she raised her wand up and pointed it at him, he raised his hands and stepped back, more out of defensive reflex. Having a wand pointed at him after royally pissing her off was actually pretty scary. Only because she seemed crazy enough to hex him for destroying their cabbage. Luckily, she merely cleaned the splotches of blood off of his hoodie. "Thanks.." he said quietly, eyes dropping to the floor for a moment. The smell of blood filled his nostrils from what he guessed was from her finger.
The energy in the room had shifted dramatically. He could sense that she was upset... she looked liked she wanted to cry. Simon didn't know why he suddenly felt bad; he didn't want to make her cry or sabotage their project. Truthfully, he didn't want to spend anymore time with her than she did with him - but here they were, adding time to their sentence.
Simon was quiet for a moment as he scanned the mess before them in the greenhouse. It looked like they'd spend the rest of the morning cleaning. Ruffling a hand through his hair, he swallowed sharply as he studied her face from afar, "Are you okay?" he finally asked her, his expression softening probably the first time ever talking to her.

The pain in her finger stopped her from cleaning momentarily. She observed the gash for a second, before decided which healing charm to use. Once again she pointed her wand and said, "Episkey." She examined the wound once more to make sure it was healed correctly, before continuing on with tidying. Jessie felt brave enough to look at Simon, when he asked is she were okay. It wasn't worth being angry anymore. The morning had emotionally drained her, and she could feel a headache coming on. "Yeah, I'm okay," she said, voice soft. "I'm sorry," she added, barely above a whisper, dragging her eyes away from his once more. Despite how deep her pride ran within her, she felt terribly remorseful. There was no telling what he would go around saying about her now. All of her housemates would consider her insane. Jessie gulped at the thought. She was the sweet, bubbly girl everyone could go to for some cheering up. She placed a hand on her forehead, smearing dirt and blood on herself. "I can harvest the other cabbage next Friday, if what the professor said was accurate. Just another week," pulling herself together long enough to give him a tiny smile. Jessie wasn't sure if he was upset about the cabbage, but she attempted to reassure him if he were. She doubted it, however. Worrying about school wasn't his forte. Clearly. simon sixten svendsen

April 2025Simon was trying to surpass the awkwardness of this situation. When Jessie quietly apologized for her outburst, he nodded, "I'm sorry, too." Simon told her, trying to sound sincere and not cold about it. He meant it. This was a team effort screw up.
When Jessie started talking about harvesting another cabbage, his face faltered, "Next...Friday?" he repeated after her in disbelief, eyes widening. "That's barely enough time before the deadline." he stated lamely, reality setting in. This was only the first step and they had already screwed up, there was no more room for mistakes. Simon was starting to doubt their chances of completing the project without killing each other. Merlin, he had to pass if he wanted to play quidditch still next year..
Since Jessie's notes were still scattered neatly near the cauldron, he peered down and scanned the paper, "Nettle leaves and rose oil will be at the classroom...the nettle leaves just might not be fresh enough.." he said, finally attempting to participate for once. Simon was trying not to be a complete pest since the cabbage was destroyed, "We're probably going to have to scavenge the burdock root somewhere on the grounds." the lion informed, already dreading that he was going to have to spend more time with Jessie this week. He knew that she hated his guts at the moment, which was funny at first, now he was a little worried that she may hex him.

She couldn't help but to let a shocked expression cross her face when he apologized also. As to not to be rude she quickly replaced it with a poker face. She nodded as he confirmed about next Friday, while moving to join him looking at the list. "We may just have to spend that weekend together in order to get it done. If we do everything perfectly, we may be able to finish it by Saturday. And I can do the last few steps alone, if you have somewhere to be," she babbled. Jessie really didn't want him to bail, despite being so darn aggravated by him. By pushing their completion date so far back, she couldn't risk being the only set of hands brewing the potion. Jessie went back to cleaning the area up, starting first by extinguishing the flame under her cauldron. "Also, I know you won't like this, but we need to work on the writing portion one night this week. I'll even let you pick which night," she said, giving him kind smile. Alright, so she was playing nice after her big explosion. So what? Jessie couldn't have another day like this without going mental. She might as well try to make the best of it. simon sixten svendsen
