Late April 2025 Exams were coming up and Saturday was never very good at taking exams. Perhaps because he wasn’t very good at focusing on anything in general, but exams were particularly hard. He always got so jittery and anxious and never ended up doing very well. But he knew he’d do okay on the subjects that he wanted to continue because he was passionate about them, and they were about more than just knowing facts. However, he knew he had to pass more tests than just Divination, Astronomy, and Care of Magical Creatures. So when his sister asked if he wanted to study with her, he took her up on the offer. At least he was pretty sure that she had taken notes in classes and had something to go off of. It could help him start. He walked into the library and found it full of students, likely, all with the same idea they had. Every table was full, so he found a seat on the floor near the back and he was fairly sure that Thursday would be able to find him if she looked around at all, so he set his bag down and made himself comfortable. While he waited for her, he looked over his Astronomy documents.

Exams weren't the worst thing in the world. Not for Thursday anyways. Exams helped her focus on something, which helped distract her. If she felt her mind spiraling down, she could switch to a subject that she really liked, and work on that until she felt better. But she knew that her brother, Saturday, struggled with his exams. That was why she had offered to help him study. And, she really liked spending time with him, not being in the same house was hard.
Entering the library, it didn't take long to spot the one kid not at a table. That was her Saturday. She walked up and nudged his foot. "You ready?' Said as she took the spot next to him. She had changed out of her school uniform and was now wearing some leggings and a oversize shirt. Setting down her backpack, it hit a touch harder than she was expecting. She had packed it with every subject in mind. She was going to help him study, but she might as well get to the subjects that he wasn't in too. This was a good time to get all her homework on. "Where do you want to start? What exam are you most worried about?

Thursday came into the Library and like he had expected, she didn’t have a hard time finding him sitting on the floor in his little nook. It was a very Saturday thing to do. He tended to avoid crowds. If he had been on his own, he would have taken one look at the library and went and found somewhere else to be, but he had told Thursday that he’d be there and so there he was. But he still would rather not sit at a table with a bunch of strangers when there was a perfectly good floor still unoccupied.
She kicked his foot when she got over to him and then let her backpack fall to the floor, the thud caused him to jump a little more than he was expecting too. “Jesus, Thurs, are you carrying bricks? That thing could be a weapon.” he half teased. He was sure it was full of books or something. But man, it was almost bursting. She asked what exams he was worried about and he shrugged. “Uhh, potions I guess. And History of Magic.” he admitted. He was decent with his wand, so he wasn’t worried about passing Transfiguration or Charms.

Thursday wasn't a big fan of lots of people, especially when she felt them all looking at her, whether or not they actually were. Not liking crowds was something that she had in common with her brother.
“Jesus, Thurs, are you carrying bricks? That thing could be a weapon.” Well what else did he expect "It's just my school stuff. I almost brought my laptop." The truth is. She tried to put it in, but her bag was so full, it wouldn't fit. Thrusday thought about bringing it, in case she finished what she had left to do of her studying, and had a breath to work more on her personal project. She pulled her bag closer and opened it up. She pulled out her Ancient Runes book and nodded as her brother mentioned the classes. They would start there. She pulled out her notes and books for each class and set them out, putting the still heavy bag to her side. "I'm better at potions, but these are all my notes for History of Magic." She was better with doing. But she took better notes in History of Magic than her brother did. Her notes were organized and marked, she had even gone back over them after the lectures and added included side notes that she missed writing at the time.

Thursday told her that her bag was just full of her school things and that she had almost brought her laptop too. He couldn’t believe that it wasn’t already in there - he wasn’t even sure that he had that many books, but they probably did take the same amount of classes so he probably had most of those books too… just under his bed or at the bottom of his trunk. No, definitely under his bed, he had better things in his trunk and wouldn’t waste valuable space in his trunk for school books. She pulled out her books for Potions and History, and handed her notes to him. “I don’t get how you do it. Even when I try to pay attention in class I can’t get this many notes.” though his focus was really bad, even when he was really trying. He just wasn’t someone who was good at school. And he didn’t mind that. He was a writer, and that was what he focused on. He did get a lot of writing done in class. So that was productive enough.

Saturday defiantly didn't belong in the Ravenclaw house. While Thursday wished that he was, so that they could spend more time together. Just looking at their notes, you could tell. “I don’t get how you do it. Even when I try to pay attention in class I can’t get this many notes.” he stated. She laughed and kissed him on the cheek. "It helps to read the material ahead of time. But that's why you have me." She looked over her notes for the classes and smiled, she was pretty good at paying attention. It also helped prevent her bad days, and getting good grades helped her feel better. "Do you want to just look over them, or do you want help memorizing things?" With exams coming up, learning, cramming and memorizing were just about the same thing. The goal, this late in the school year, was to pass the classes.

Thursday laughed at him and then leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. He found it amusing that she found his misfortune funny, but he just shook his head a little, with a smile on his face. She said that it helped to read ahead of time and he blinked. Read before class? Wasn’t the teacher supposed to teach him? Why would he teach himself before? “I don’t get you academic types.” he admitted with a teasing smirk. When he sat by her in classes that they were in together, he would see her writing furiously in her notebook, and he would be doing the same, but he would be writing stories and descriptions, not notes from class. That was probably why he had such a hard time. He had a problem turning muse off when he had it. “I guess I should look over it. Reading a little about everything should help more than memorizing specifics.” he suggested.

Thursday was an exceptional student. She didn't always read right before class, but she did like to take some time looking through her text books before the semester, when she was ready for classes to start again. She usually tried to skim the right chapters before the actual class though. She laughed again at her brother. Of cores the slacker who liked weed and getting high didn't get the study and excel in classes type. But they were close either way. Maybe that was what made them so compatible. "And that's okay. This academic type wants to help you not get a Dreadful or Troll." She knew that he wasn't the best at taking notes. They did sit next to each other in many classes. She was used to seeing him writing creatively. It was hard not to dive into his writing. She had to focus on the teacher during class.
"Suit yourself, and let me know if you have any questions" She smiled, settling down and pulling out her ancient runes text and homework.

“I just need an Acceptable or Poor.” In most of his subjects he was realistic about what he would get - and that was fine. He didn’t need or even want to advance to NEWT levels in most of his lessons. Just in the ones that he really cared for and felt interested in. And those select few, he was already confident enough in that he wouldn’t bother studying for those exams. He needed to be smart about the very limited amount of time that he already had and he needed to spend that time focusing on subjects he just needed to pass to not look like an idiot. He knew he wasn’t an idiot. He was smart when he wanted to be, it was just that he was also realistic, and he knew school wasn’t where his talents lay. He flipped through her notes for a few minutes before asking “Any subjects you’re worried about, Thurs?” he was mostly just trying to put off studying.

Thursday and Saturday where great friends. And this years exams were the ones that really counted. This determined what NEWT level classes they would be able to take. Honestly, Thursday didn't see herself going into a magical career, unless she wanted to work on merging technology and magic together. But her true dream had nothing to do with magic. Now, that didn't mean that she wasn't going to pass all her classes. She was going to excel in everything that she signed up for. She enjoyed sharing her notes, and helping her brother study.
“Any subjects you’re worried about, Thurs?” Thursday stopped working on her Ancient Runes homework. This was not the thing she should be working on. She looked up at her brother with her popular puppy dog eyes and gave a sheepish smile "Well Sat, I know what you are doing, but to answer your question," She paused, taking a deep breath, "Herbology, and a little bit of home economics." She wasn't perfect. Plants and her just didn't get along, why did she even take the stupid class?

Thursday called him out, which he basically expected that she would. She saw through him better than anyone else had ever. She just seemed to know him, and most of the time, it was nice to have someone like that around to call him out and keep in going, but right now, it was kind of frustrating because it probably meant that she wasn’t going to give into his conversing for that long. She did however answer his question and admit that she was worried about Herbology and Home economics. Two classes that he also took and didn’t really have a problem in. “Really? Perhaps I can help with those…” but he didn’t really have any notes to share with her. However, herbology, for obvious reasons, was a subject that interested him. And home economics was just fairly simple. Most of it, he, as a creative person, took a natural liking to. “if there’s anything you want to go over for either of those.” he offered with a shrug. He would have no idea where to start.

The connection that Thursday had with her adoptive brother Saturday was remarkable. They understood each other so well. They both had bad times, and both had helped each other during those times. The connection was amazing. She understood what he was doing, because she understood Saturday. “Really? Perhaps I can help with those…” She smiled. He was still stalling. But she smiled nonetheless. Saturday was also in those classes. It also made seance that Sat would be good at those subjects. home economics was a simple class, and if she thought more about it from a potions standpoint, she was sure she would pass the class. Herbology was defiantly something that she needed to study on. "Thanks Sat. I'll have to review the text for herbology, but I might take you up on that offer. But, you really should focus on your studies." She smiled as she put her Ancient Runes homework away, and pulled out her herbology text book. She didn't have formal notes for this class, because of how hands on it was. But she did read through the book, and she had her notes in the book. With a deep breath she looked at her brother "So, any questions on my notes" It was her turn to stall.

Saturday didn’t think that Thursday would take him up on his offer, but it was still something that he felt like offering, maybe just as an attempt at a distraction. He really wasn’t the best study buddy. When he went too long without smoking, he got antsy and fidgety, and that was starting to happen now. He wasn’t really someone who could focus well in any situation. Maybe it was the werewolf in him. Or maybe it just was a part of his personality. He told her that he should focus on his studies instead of trying to help her and he rolled his eyes, he knew she was right. And that was exactly why he rolled his eyes. This sucked. He was never going to get much out of it. But he did kind of want to try. There was some feeling of accomplishment that came with doing well on exams. “Yeah, actually… What ink do you use? It’s so smooth.” more stalling. He was good at that. He didn’t have any questions about the text. He wouldn’t even know what to ask. You never know what you don’t know until it’s obvious that you don’t know it.

Thursday caught a glimpse of Saturday rolling his eyes at her, shortly after telling him that he should worry about himself, when it came to studying right now. She just have a huff, with a small smile as she shook her head. She could tell that he had gone some time without a smoke that day. She recognized the unfocused and antsy behavior.
She asked if he had any questions about her notes and he sure did. "What ink do you use? It’s so smooth.” She furrowed her brown and looked from her Herbology textbook to the notes, then to her brother. She had really not expected that. "I-it's the same ink that mom bought for all of us. I think she got it in bulk" With eight teenagers, it was no wonder their trend obsessed mother would shop in bulk when she could. Especially on something so well used during the school year. "Don't you use the same stuff?"

Thursday answered him, saying that it was the same ink that mom had bought for all of them. Saturday had kind of expected that, but, maybe she had gone out and gotten her own. He only used ink and a quill for essays, when he wrote in her journal, he used a regular, ballpoint pen. Ink and quills were so outdated and so much more work that writing needed to be. “Nah it’ll be the same then.” he admitted with a shrug. And then a yawn. Man, this was exhausting work. Maybe he could just take a nap instead. That would be a lot more ideal than being here and studying. But he didn’t want to be rude to Thursday, he knew that she was trying to help him. He was starting to feel less and less like he wanted help though. It wasn’t going to make a difference, he knew that, realistically.
