Colton was ready for the additional work, he was ready for getting his hands dirty in a new land. Both to help Europe and in its own way help America as well. What Colton wasn’t prepared for and what he noticed in his first week of being a foreign aid captain, just how lonely it would be. Colton had always been around people he had known for as long as he could remember. Growing up he was raised on the McCoy ranch with all the family he could possibly know. Once old enough to go to Ilvermorny he had his brother to start with and made more friends from there. Hell, when he started as an Auror he knew some of the trainees as well.
This was the first time Colton was genuinely alone with no one to talk to. It didn’t help that he was now thousands of miles from home. He didn’t regret his choice but life was a little boring and lonely outside of work. With nothing else to do and no one to talk to Colton turned to getting a drink at The Leaky Cauldron at the end of his work day to relax. It was no saloon but a pub was good enough for Colton to at least get a drink at and unwind.
Colton walked into The Leaky Cauldron to the same reaction as it was the past few nights. People confused to why someone dressed like he was, was here. He did get a kick out of it and had a small smirk as he made his way toward the bar. The looks were met with a tip of his hat as well. Sitting at an empty end seat of the bar he was quickly asked what he would like. “Any bourbon whiskey yet?” He asked like he normally did each time he came, once again met with a no. Colton still wasn’t surprised. “Rye whiskey?” Another shake of the head from the bartender. “Fine, firewhisky it is.” Colton replied, it was going to be hard to find some good old fashioned America liquor in Europe. That much was becoming apparent.

Odette had spent the last few days catching back up with her siblings after being in Egypt for sixth months on a job, and finally she was ready for a drink.
There hadn't been many chances to sit down for a drink in Egypt. Hell, she probably only managed to unwind with a drink twice the whole entire trip. Cursebreaking was a busy profession, especially on site in Egypt. Merlin knows she could have used one on more than one occasion, though. What with stress from the quarantine and wondering if she would be able to get back into the country after her job was done, and then hearing about the accident at the Quidditch match. Luckily, she was able to return due to having family in the country that was in attendance at the match. And even luckier that her sisters were both perfectly fine and unharmed. She was able to finally rest.
The former Ravenclaw had found herself at the Leaky Cauldron tonight. It wasn't terribly far from her flat and she just fancied a firewhisky or two. She had been sitting at the bar, halfway through her first glass of her drink when she heard a strange accent maybe two barstools over to her left. Instinctively, being the curious and somewhat nosy people reader that she was, her eyes immediately looked to the man the voice belonged to. She did not expect to see someone dressed like that in the Leaky Cauldron in London. Maybe it was the firewhisky talking but Odette couldn't help the chuckle that managed to escape her lips. "You lost?" She asked looking up at the man with a smirk.

It didn’t take long for Colton to get his firewhisky. It seemed pretty popular here but that would make sense, it did come from these parts. Colton had nothing against it, it was a fine whisky and he had it plenty of times back in the states. He was just missing the taste of home and what he normally drank. The same whisky he would sneak out to drink while young and underage. Possibly he was already just a little home sick but Colton refused to admit that just yet. Not So soon after getting to Europe. He had just started to drink when he heard a woman’s voice ask someone, he presumed him, if they were lost. Looking in the direction of the voice he found a nearby bar patron looking toward him. Colton put his glass down and smirked slightly at her comment now sure she was talking to him. “No ma’am, this place has some pretty decent whisky so I think I’ve found the right place.” Colton joked knowing full well why she had asked that. “I can see why you might say that though. I happen to be a couple thousand miles from where I used to rest my head.”

Odette had really mellowed out over the years. Or rather, she was a bit more kind to people. Had this little interaction she started with this stranger taken place perhaps two years ago... well, it's unlikely it would have taken place. She would have continued observing the man from afar and not said a word to him. She had her family to thank for making her decidedly more outgoing these days. ]b\"The Cauldron does have a good reputation for drinks,"[/b] she agreed, though the cursebreaker was more partial to the Hog's Head in Hogsmeade. However with the bartender just a few feet away, she kept the comment to herself. She didn't fancy anything else ending up in any of her drinks tonight. "Couple thousand miles, eh?" Odette repeated, her hands clasped loosely around the glass in front of her as she leaned over the counter to make an overdramatic show of how interesting she pretended to think the stranger was. "Where, might I ask, is home?" She asked, though she could easily tell this man was American, no question about it.

The woman agreed with him about the Leaky Cauldon having a decent whisky, saying they have a good reputation. “I believe it, it’s lacking a few things but I’m not surprised by that one bit. My old watering holes would be missing many of the drinks it has here as well.” Colton explained as he could forgive the lack of American whiskey as many places back home didn’t have the selection Europe had either. Taking a drink, the woman asked about his thousand miles comment. “Yeah, a long way to come just for a drink. Don’t ya think?” Colton replied with a small smirk as he was kidding obviously. “I’m actually here for work.” Colton added just in case it hadn’t been obvious he was kidding. She asked where his home might be and at the moment Colton was more than happy to keep the conversation going. “Colorado, it’s a state in the mid-west of America.” Colton replied, just saying the states name made him think of home and his family. He wondered what they might be up to now and what time it was there. “I’m Colton by the way, pleased to make your acquaintance.”
