Jessie grinned from ear to ear, as the half-vampire before her pointed to the nearly faded mark below his left eye. Perhaps she would have felt more sorry for him if it hadn't healed so quickly, and if the situation had been a little bit less heart-wrenching. But the lioness didn't doubt that Sofia had a wicked arm. Though, she'd probably tell Sofia to go easy on him, especially if the two bickered at any point in their relationship. Her best friend wouldn't be inclined to listen, however. A small smile still played on her lips as she thought about the loyalty Sofia had. She was truly one of a kind. The brunette gazed at Simon as he shook his head, refusing her apology. She was about to speak again, to insist that she had caused an issue between the half-vampire siblings when he squeezed her hands. Her warmth clashed with his cold grip, but nothing had ever felt so comforting. "It's okay," she began, "It's water under the bridge at this point. The flowers and letter was an amazing idea, probably your best," she teased, using their grip on one another to pull him into a warm embrace.
They stood there for a moment in a comfortable silence until Jessie pulled away. "I'd love to stay, but I'm afraid I'll end up in your bed if you keep apologizing," she admitted, her eyes fluttering over to the bed with a minuscule look of longing. She didn't trust her willpower enough to stay off of it, or him. The reassurances of his regret were magnifying her desire to wrap herself around him. But it was too soon. The lioness stood up on her tip-toes and planted a soft kiss on his lips before slowly pulling away from him. Her body instantaneously ached from the lack of his touch as she inched towards the door. "I can't wait for our date. Though I'm not sure how you'll ever top that letter you wrote. Who knew you were such a romantic?" she teased, giving him a playful smile. "Goodnight, Simon," she said, before exiting the doorway. The lioness all but skipped down the hall, towards her own room, a never-ending source of elation coursing through her.
