The normal, almost boring life that Jim had been used to for so long was thrown for a loop in the past six months. It had already started to be shaken up before that. Between the purifier attacks, dragon attack and meeting Victoire Weasley. still those had been events while his normal day to day remained the same. At least till one drunken night six months ago where he had somehow found himself married to Victoire. It had been hard for either of them to remember but he still always felt at fault when he attempted to remember the night more clearly. Jim was sure any normal people would have tried to annul that type of marriage as soon as they found out. Not Vic and him, they both kept finding reasons to put it off.
At first he questioned why they both were doing it. He didn’t exactly mind as the initial shock wore off. Yet he didn’t want to hurt Vic’s reputation with the rumors which were true about their drunken marriage. Jim didn’t have much of a reputation to worry about. Most, if not all, of his worry came from how it would affect Vic. He was slowly getting used to it just getting fixed whenever they got around to it. They were dating now anyway so it wasn’t like the marriage actually meant anything at the moment besides some title they both had been ignoring.
The newest reason to put off their annulment was the Quidditch championship. Something Jim had been very excited for and for some reason between the two of them was so soon they shouldn’t worry about taking care of the marriage yet. Jim was actually lucky enough to get rather good seats for the event in one of the good boxes. After telling Vic she explained that the Weasley’s already had a box for the family. Thankfully he avoided that, Jim still felt uneasy around the other Weasley’s just because of how they had ended up married. No one had actually said it, he just felt like he wouldn’t necessarily be welcome with the actual family. Even he still felt like he didn’t deserve to be married to Vic. The driving force for why he kept bringing up the annulment. Vic did explain after learning where the box was that it was right next to the Weasley box. Something he was nervous about.
The day arrived and Jim was noticeably more excited for the game than Vic was. Jim had always been obsessed with Quidditch, ever since he was a kid at Hogwarts. Sadly, the dream of being a Quidditch player never actually worked out. So he had to enjoy it from the sidelines. “Come on, we need to get to our seats before it starts.” The excitement in his voice was obvious as they arrived at the stadium. "Unless you want any snacks or something?"

The last few months had been... well, frankly, incredibly. It was way too late to annul the marriage, so now it'd have to be a divorce, and they just kind of... didn't. They were dating now, they were happy. It was still underneath it all, weighing on them heavily sometimes when they thought too hard about it and what it implied for the future of their relationship. She just wanted to be with him and keep it simple, for now... Vic was never good at simple. She always had to make things complicated. This was complicated, even if she pretended it wasn't. But here she was, and she was happy to be here. They were moving to their seats, and she shook her head at the offer for snacks. "Got the only snack I need right here," she smirk, patting him hard on the back and then laughing. "No, but really, I'm okay," she offered. They took Jim's seats, which were fairly close to her families box. She waved to them, acutely aware of every single member of her family making eye contact with her. She honestly didn't know what a lot of them thought, but Dominique accepted what she'd done, and that was good enough for her. Dom was her partner in crime, after all. She glanced at the Ministers box where her aunt sat and instantly felt a sink in her stomach. She used to sit there... she still could have been if she had tried a little harder to... what, not get sick? She looked away, but it would be clear to Jim that she did so violently and abruptly. @jim

Jim couldn’t help but laugh as Vic replied back about getting snacks, he should have expected it but he hadn’t one bit. “Please refrain from stealing all of my good material.” He got out through his laughs. “I won’t have anything funny or cute to say if you steal all of my lines.” Honesty he didn’t think he’d have even said that, he probably would have actually been more focused on actual snacks instead of using that line on the beautiful woman beside him. Which he kept to himself as he would just feel silly making himself look bad by pointing it out. Vic did say she was fine without the snacks and they headed toward their seats.
Once sitting down he could feel a few of the Weasley’s in the next box over looking toward them. Vic even waved, Jim on the other hand still didn’t know what to do. He just looked over and smiled before pretending to be focused on the pitch in front of them. He hadn’t followed any of the steps that went along with marrying someone and he didn’t know exactly how they all felt about him. They hadn’t dated for a second, he hadn’t met the family, he didn’t ask for approval to marry Victoire. The last one being unneeded but it was still the respectful tradition to follow. They weren’t supposed to be married in the first place but it just worked for them at the moment. For her family was another matter though, he wasn’t sure off.
Vic went from waving to looking out to the pitch as well. Not so much the pitch as he could tell she was looking more toward the ministers box before looking away quickly. It was obvious she really missed her old life as being the minister of Magic. He was aware of that even before now. Jim took her hand for moment, “you want to know something I haven’t told you yet?” He asked waiting for her to look back at him. “You have to promise you won’t get mad, okay?”

He asked her to refrain from stealing all his good material and she shook her head, leaning her face closer to him as she did so as if to taunt him, "you just have to be more original, my darling. What, can't take a challenge?" she teased, wiggling an eyebrow up and down at him. It was always easy being with Jim, even if they're situation was different. After she looked away from the Ministers box, Jim started to speak to her. She waited a moment, trying to control the look of hurt on her face before she turned back to look at him. He then said that she had to promise she wouldn't get mad... which made her brow furrow intensely. Generally when someone said that it meant that had something to say that would in fact make her angry, but she was hoping to give Jim the benefit of the doubt. Plus, it could always be a joke with Jim, it was hard to tell. "Okay, what is it?" she asked. She was hoping to make a witty retort but none came to mind. @jim

Vic leaned her face in closer to him and refused to stop stealing his lines, instead he just needed to be more original and be up for that challenge. He smirked for a moment before leaning in the rest of the way and kissing her quickly. “I believe challenges is what got us in this mess, not that I’m complaining.” Jim said once he pulled away from the kiss. “I just wasn’t prepared for having all my cheesy lines stolen so quickly. Now I have to actually think of original compliments on how pretty you are, smart, funny and so on and so on.” Jim smirked still looking toward Vic before looking forward as they continued toward their seats.
As he spoke he was thankful she was distracted for a moment from her gaze toward the minister of Magic’s seats. The face she gave him was only slightly better than the one she had when she was looking away. She asked him what he was going to tell her, “that isn’t exactly a promise, I’d feel much better about my safety if you promise first.” Jim replied jokingly, before continuing. “I was just noticing that the Ministers box is over there somewhere and remembered something silly.” He paused, now not too sure he should have brought anything up at all but he was already half way there. “I didn’t vote for you as minister, I didn’t vote for anyone actually. I forget why now. Yet, if you ever decide to run again I’d love the chance to change that. You have my vote.”

He said he believed that challenges were what got them in this mess, and he was not wrong about that at all. That made her giggle as he continued to say he just wasn't prepared and how he had to think of original compliments for her. She narrowed her eyes at him and shook her head, "honestly, with those eyes, you could say anything and I would think it was amazing," she half teased, but really - they were beautiful, so why not say it? Sometimes she forgot that this relationship wasn't as 'new' as she felt it was. She could be upfront with him, right? Especially with compliments and flirting. So he started to speak, saying that he'd feel better if she promised first. She shook her head and then nodded, confirming. Then he spoke about the Ministers box... saying he didn't vote for her. Her jaw dropped only slightly enough for her mouth to open, but she closed it quickly. She bit down on the side of her lip, still looking confused and concerned for a few seconds before finally breaking into a small smile. "That's really nice of you to say," she swallowed hard, "but I'm afraid my life is over. Um," she cleared her throat, shaking out her hands, "that part is over, I mean,"@jim

“It’s good to know that if I ever run out of compliments I can just say non-sense.” Jim teased as she complimented him on his eyes. He had never really thought of himself as having good features, at least not his eyes. They were just his eyes. He just never thought about it, not like he did with Vic and hers. They were far more beautiful than his and equally showed whatever emotion she was feeling when she wanted to show it. Like when she smiled they just sparkled. With that he felt he was staring a little to much now. “Blah blah blah pretty. Did it work?” Jim joked looking away and toward what was ahead of them.
As he attempted to comfort her in what now seemed like a weird way. Vic said he was being nice. She added that her life was over before correcting it to that part of her life was over. “You say that but I see the way you’re looking over there. It doesn’t have to be over, just on hold.” Jim said grabbing her hand and holding it. “It doesn’t have to be next election, or the one after that or the one after that. Hell, even if you really decide not to run for minister again. You still have my vote.” Jim was serious, while he liked to joke, there were moments that didn’t need it or weren’t the time and reassuring someone he cared about was one of them. At the very least being serious till it was time to break the tension. “I also wouldn’t mind getting a better look at the ministers office, after hours.” Jim added with a wink and nudge of his elbow.

He said that it was good to know he could just say nonsense and she lightly smacked his chest, "hey, I still expect and effort Jimothy," she countered. At his fake compliment she shook her head and grinned, "ugggh, it did work, damn it all," she laughed. He said that he could see the way she was looking over there, and she felt her cheeks get warm at that thought. He said it could just be on hold, and then took her hand. She looked down at their hands and felt her stomach do a happy little flip, then she looked back up at his face as he spoke about her always still having his vote, and she nodded, believing him. "There you go saying that nonsense again," she teased, leaning forward slightly, but then he added the joke about getting a better look inside the office and nudging her. That caused her to laugh loudly and she leaned back slightly to do so. "I think I could maybe arrange that anyway," she said softly, leaning forward to plant a kiss on his lips. The game had started and honestly, she barely paid attention. Her focus was everywhere, but it was in the wrong place when the bomb exploded. She was looking to the side at her families box rather than the Ministers when suddenly things started to break into panic. "Hermione!" she screamed, immediately leaping away from Jim, not registering how bad things were for him too. How could she? The ministers box was gone. @jim

Jim just smiled as Vic explained she still expected an effort out of him with his lines. “Of course, but I could always move the effort I put toward complimenting you to more... physical matters.” Jim teased for a second pretending to be fully serious before smirking slightly followed by a quiet laugh. She shook her head after his gibberish and said it worked with a sigh. “I didn’t know I was putting too much work into it all this time. Saying your pretty is enough. I can save all the other adjectives I want to call you for later then.”
She claimed he was saying nonsense again and Jim just smiled. “As we’ve proven, my nonsense can be very effective but in one of the rare times I’m talking, this isn’t actually nonsense. I believe in you.” Jim kept holding her hand as he had said that. He didn’t know everything about Vic but he knew enough to believe in her as a person and how she was determined to help people. She claimed that she could arrange them getting into the minister of Magic’s office after hours and smiled while going slightly red as she kissed him. “I-I was only kidding. I’m not going to say no though. Ever.”
Their focus eventually turned toward the game, Jim was sure he was more wrapped in it than Vic was. He loved Quidditch and if he had only been better at it he could have actually been a player. Sadly that dream had passed him. It was a bittersweet feeling watching people do what he had always wanted to. Some even so carefree like it was nothing. Jim’s life wasn’t all about his broken dreams. It had been more boring but Vic was certainly helping with that. Jim was snapped from the game by a loud sound and rush of wind from a large explosion nearby. There was a sharp pain in his left arm but he ignored it or rather quickly forgot as he turned toward the explosion. Vic had screamed for Hermione and Jim could see the Minster's box was pretty much gone. Nothing but flames and rubble. Vic jumped up and was already rushing he way toward the center of the explosion.
Jim attempted to follow but was soon reminded of the pain as it jolted from his arm and through his body. Finally taking note he looked over and found two large pieces of wood embedded in his arm. He didn’t exactly have time to worry about this and he wasn’t about to be stuck somewhere like last time as Vic ran off. Taking out his wand he bound his arm in tight bandages. He could still move his arm even if it was painful. It was thebest he could do for now. Especially with people and Vic running around in possible danger. Jim chased after Vic, “Vic wait!” He called just in the hopes he could get her attention.

He said that he could put effort into complimenting her physically and she narrowed her eyes at him.... but nodded, "I suppose that wouldn't be the worst thing... but later works," she smirked. Man, he was definitely an awkward nerd a lot of the time but damn it if he didn't have a way with words and those flirty eyes. And, of course, the famous nonsense that he was so good at. But then... it wasn't nonsense. He was saying, in all seriousness, that he believed in her. He was sweet. Too sweet, maybe. He blushed when she kissed him and shook her head, "I'm only kidding too, darling," she smirked, kissing him quickly before getting back into the game. But that fleeting happiness vanished, as it always does. As she leapt for the Ministers box, she heard Jim call. She stopped, turning to face him... and the floor vanished beneath her, crashing her into the next level. Everything went black after that. @jim(yaaaay injuries of old)
