Gideon couldn't believe his mum was forcing him to go on a blind date. This was her own form of sick torture, forcing him into stupid situations, and dangling inheritance in his face if he didn't oblige. She was more concerned about giving the Ollivander family name a strong bloodline, so Blishwicks Match Making services was the obvious choice in the wizarding world. Before summer, Gideon never anticipated having to deal with such stress as meeting a stranger in a random place and pretending he liked them. That sounded horrible. Hell, he didn't even know if he wanted to date anyone yet. Or ever. None of that interested him when he had work and school to focus on. Gideon wanted to be the smartest student in his class...if he was distracted with dating that would never happen. Not to mention the idea of allowing himself to be vulnerable or to go out of his way to show someone that he didn't hate them, left a weird taste in his mouth. He wasn't ready for that yet.
On his walk toward the London Zoo, there were too many times he could count where he almost decided to turn around and go home. His mum would be livid if he did that. The closer time ticked to the blind date, he was overwhelmed with anxiety wondering who he would be paired up with. Sweaty palms and heart pounding out of his chest, he arrived at the London Zoo, where he awkwardly stood in front of the admissions office where Blishwick instructed them to meet. He felt like a sore thumb mixed amongst the groups of Muggles. As much as he enjoyed traveling, he wasn't used to being in heavily Muggle populated areas solo. Mama's Boy.
Taking a breath in through his nose, Gideon's eyes scanned the area around him, attempting to keep a more laid back expression on his stone-cold face. He wasn't always as angry as he looked, but alas, the resting bitch face. Today his dissatisfied expression looked more...uneasy. As his stomach flipped and flopped, he walked over to an informational sign and pretended to be interested. He couldn't care less about it, the nervousness was overwhelming, there was no way in hell he could concentrate on reading. Gideon crossed his arms across his chest and stood awkwardly, contemplating if it were too late for him to run off and hide.

THE LAST THING YVONNE WANTED to do during this terrible summer was go on a date. Let alone leave her home. So when her grandmother approached the twins, full of excitement to reveal Yvonne had been signed up for Blishwicks Match Making Service, Yvonne wanted nothing more than enough anger to murder the woman where she stood. Not only did she hate Lia but she always decided for her. Just because she was her guardian. Valid for certain reasons but not to take over her life completely. Yvonne was sure she didn’t want to…Date anyone. She found more enjoyment in playing with others minds, teasing with the lower-minds in a way they didn’t understand that they were exactly being…Bullied. It was fun. Cruel but completely and utterly fun.
With little information to meet her date at London Zoo, Yvonne had plans to dress up in a completely revolting outfit, hoping that her date would bolt the moment they saw her. But…Lia seemed to counter-act Yvonne’s plan, coming up with an outfit of her own, and that’s how the De Snaijer found herself in a floral dress and flats, hair tied up with a few baby strands out. Yvonne was supposed to be fifteen. Not going on thirty. With her walk to the Zoo coming to a brief end, bright eyes looked around in hopes to find someone sticking out like a sore thumb. The brunette looked from the admissions office to where her and her date were supposed to meet over to a few signs but the relieved laugh that left her lips was nothing but familiar, especially once her eyes settled on that familiar face.
”Gideon?” She called out, slowly walking closer towards him. He had her back to her, but with that stance and that hair-do, the De Snaijer knew she couldn’t be wrong. ”Are you here for…”

Gideon started to read an informational poster about there being over 260 species of monkey's worldwide when he heard his name called out. As he turned on the heel of his foot, his eyes widened. That was a familiar voice. His stomach dropped as his eyes deciphered what they were seeing. "Yvonne..," he said out loud in disbelief, taking a step backward. "Heeey." Gideon sang an awkward greeting, his face going beat red as he smiled awkwardly. "You-You're my date," he stated, though he meant for it to sound like a question. Anxiety filled his stomach from embarrassment. He couldn't believe that his mother was making him do this, and now he was matched with his former arch nemesis. They were cool now, but he didn't want anyone he knew knowing that he did this stupid Blishwick thing.

THE FAMILIAR FACE WAS ONE Yvonne most definitely didn’t expect nor was she mad to even see Gideon Ollivander before her. Gideon had become a…friend as of lately, due to their civil-ship so going on a date with him was…more than enough to see his true side. Or Yvonne simply hoped for the best anyway. But from Gideon’s realisation that Yvonne was his date, she could tell he was neither happy or relieved?…Or so she assumed anyway.
A flush of red made its way to Gideon’s face and from watching the rush of colour came Yvonne’s own embarrassment. ”Yeah…You’re…My date…” It was awkward now that Yvonne came to think of it. If Lia hadn’t pushed forward the De Snaijers application…She would have been no where near this cult-like thing. ”My uh…My grandmother forced this onto me…Not Yvette…Just me…” It was better to be honest than anything.

Reality was starting to sink in that Yvonne was his date. He wasn’t sure if he was supposed to be relieved or mortified. He didn’t have to go through the awkwardness of a date with a stranger now, so it was probably working in his favor. Maybe he and Yvonne could swear to never mention it again or something... When she revealed that her guardian only made her sign up for Blishwick and not her sister, his eyebrows furrowed downwards. ”That’s completely fucked.” he stated frankly, never feeling the need to sugar coat anything. ”Why only you though? Is your sister the favorite or something?” he asked her seriously, before adding, ”My mum threatened inheritance if I didn’t go. ” he told her, instantly feeling lame, but it was nice to know they were in the same boat. Maybe his “first date” wouldn’t be so bad...Blishwick was supposed to have a gift for pairing people, so it had to mean something, right? Well, Gideon would still take more convincing because he was sure that Blishwick fellow was a bloody fraud. yvonne rae de snaijerWill update with code when I get home!

STANDING THERE WITH DARKENED CHEEKS, Yvonne couldn't stop her face from growing darker with a blush. She had never expected to ever go on a...Date with a friend, nor ever see Gideon in a get-up that was definitely for a date. Yvonne herself didn't know how to feel, if she was...Happy...Or completely terrified that Gideon would push some sort of scenario that never happened at school despite their civil-ship. She cleared her throat then, and felt some kind of relief when he began to speak. "Agreed." She sighed, fingers reaching for the ends of her hair in nervousness.
"That old shit bag hates me. Mainly because...I'm mean to her but...Yeah. Yvette's the saint and the favourite so here I am." Yvonne shrugged as she looked at him and forced a slightly wider smile on her lips. "She mentioned something about blood purity though. Wants my future kids to be half-blood or pure. I don't think the wise ass has realised I'm only fifteen. We're not in the early 2000s anymore." Yvonne laughed quietly then, especially as Gideon added about his inheritance. "Lila threatened the same thing! Yvette's and my older sibling's is secured but mine? On a long line."
Considering she was more...comfortable and laughing amongst him now, the De Snaijer began to wonder whether or not the date would actually be decent or not. But she still believed this whole Blishwick service was utter nonsense anyway. "The real question though is...Who goes on a date to the zoo?"

Gideon listened to Yvonne as she shared her family woes. A part of him felt bad for her. Gideon was grateful to be an only child. He never wanted to share his mother love with anyone, he couldn't imagine what it would feel like. There was another part deep down in Gideon that regretted making fun of her for being an orphan. At the time he wasn't really thinking of the weight of those words in the privileged household he was raised in. "That bitch is probably doing it to you as a form of punishment." he agreed, a slightly furrowed brow at the thought. Shaking his head slightly in disapproval, he found himself actually caring... "You can just lie to her and make her think the date went well so she doesn't make you go on any more." he told her, wondering if her caretaker would really be that stupid. Gideon and Yvonne's civilship improved drastically over the past year, he wouldn't have ever imagined himself willing to help her with anything last year.
Yvonne asked who went to the zoo on a date and he shrugged, "Losers who sign up for Blishwick go to the zoo on dates, I suppose." he chuckled, honestly finding the humor in it this time. His face heated slightly because he felt his niceness capping out, but he didn't want it to yet. Their encounter away from school had been positive and he liked it. Ruffling a hand through his neat hair he gestured and started toward the entrance of the zoo so they could go inside. "Well, I'm actually kind of relieved it was you and not a stranger. I don't feel like I'm really ready for a blind date." he told her honestly, allowing his usual barriers to go down slightly since she had shared her family struggles with him.

DEEP DOWN, YVONNE WONDERED WHAT life would be if she genuinely liked her grandmother and Yvette was the unfortunate one. She wondered if she would've gotten the special treatment that Yvette and their elder sibling recived from Lila or if it would be completely different all together. Although, Yvonne knew one thing was right, Gideon was actually talking sense. "She said it would be a great opportunity for me to explore my horizons...Whatever that means." Yvonne rose her hands, making finger quotes as she spoke in between. "I doubt she would fall for that..But its worth a try."
Yvonne snorted at Gideon's reply before letting out a little laugh alongside him. "I guess our family must be losers then...But your mum seems cool." She bumped his hips with her own, smiling a little wider. Taking his gesture, Yvonne walked by his side, her cheeks heating up a little as he mentioned he was relieved his date was actually her. "Is it insane to say I am as well?..I mean if someone had mentioned I would be on a date with Gideon Ollivander maybe three months ago?...I'd call them crazy." She laughed quietly then but appreciated how honest he was being with her. "Well...Let's not call this a date...More like two friends meeting up to go to the zoo?" She smiled over at him then before showing off their tickets to the clerk by the entrance. The two tickets were sent alongside the letter that revealed where Yvonne would be going for the day.

As Gideon listened along to Yvonne about her Grandmother he honestly felt a little bad. He felt bad because he could remember vividly how he treated her last year during their explosive altercation in the Slytherin common room. Also when he made fun of her for being an orphan. Gideon had detention for weeks after that. He was tired of cleaning the trophy cases, scraping gum from under tables and scooping dragon dung. The Professors were getting more creative with detentions since the Americans came over. He hated it. Yvonne said that his mum seemed cool and he shrugged. "Well, this was my mums master plan, so she's not that cool but she may fall for it." he chuckled as he wondered. It was a 50 50 chance honestly. He knew if his mother got suspicious she'd force them to prove it by a kiss or something so he would be afraid of that. Hell, he'd never kissed anyone before or even held hands. Being a teenager was weird enough.
"You need to take advantage of your Grandmothers old age and tell her the date went great and you're just trying to take it slow." he told her, more as a joke to break the ice. Blind dates were awkward but he lucked out this time. He was glad to be with a date who didn't want it to be a date. Blishwick had a knack for pairing people it seemed, especially people who didn't want to be there.
The pair stepped into the zoo and was instantly greeted by animals in different exhibits behind glass. One of the first exhibits he could see were hairy monkeys jumping around the glass marveling at their reflections and pounding on the floor, "Hey look! it's you!" he pointed at the monkeys, already knowing he'd get a dirty look or punch earned from Yvonne but it was always worth it.

OPENING UP TO GIDEON FELT...Weird. The same time last year as the students settled in for their fourth year, he was mocking her for various things. But calling her an orphan had been the top of his list. And now here they were, bonding equally together. How time flew and things changed huh? "Your Mum's?..." Yvonne repeated in question, trying to remember the times she had even seen Gideon's mother. "You don't think...The last time I came to see you...She.." It was safe to assume that was surely when the planning began between Lila and Gideon's mother...If they were working together to form whatever bond the two Slytherin's had created anyway.
"I guess it's worth a shot." She replied in agreement. "But...I actually hope it does go well." She liked spending time with Gideon..So maybe it wasn't so bad they were on a date together..Even if it felt completely set up from their families. Stepping into the zoo alongside him, Yvonne's thoughts began to change the moment Gideon opened his mouth once more. Being greeted by the various animals, Yvonne noted how Gideon began to change once he noticed the monkeys jumping around within their exhibits. Once he compared her to the monkey inside that was pounding its fists against the floor, the De Snaijer's eyes narrowed and her hand rose, punching Gideon's arm with at least half her strength. She didn't want him to bruise just yet.
"Did you...Want me to go home?" She asked as she rose her brow, passing by the monkey exhibit. Looking over her shoulder at Gideon, she couldn't help but smile before pointing out the other monkey in the corner that seemed to be scratching its head. "Hey Look!" She started, mocking his original excitement. "That's you. As clueless as ever." She stuck her tongue out at him then, walking off to see the other animals.

"I dunno what my Mum thinks honestly. But she probably thinks things.." he warned her with a chuckle. "Honestly, I haven't thought of her being suspicious about it until you mentioned it." he admitted to her, honestly feeling a little awkward about it but he didn't want to show it. Gideon wasn't used to feeling so vulnerable with people.
Truthfully, the snake hadn't thought much about his mother seeing the two of them together over break, but when Yvonne asked about it, gears started to turn. Hell, dating was the last thing on his mind. He felt like a kid still and he didn't want to rush those things until he had to. Yvonne said that she hoped that it went well and he nodded easily. "I do too," he agreed easily. It wasn't flirty but he meant it. Agreeing with Yvonne De Snaijer felt so unnatural and foreign. Who would have though they'd ever see that day.
The look on Yvonne's face was too good after he told her she looked like a hairy monkey. He could probabkly use more tip from Mr Blishwick himself. Yvonne's face reminded him why he did it. There was something so fun and exhilarating about winding his housemate up, but they had certainly come a long way from flooding the common room and tying each other up. Gideon considered Yvonne more than an acquaintance or rival these days, and more of a...friend. Weird. He snorted when she asked him if he wanted her to go home. "Oh. Is that not how it's done?" he asked sarcastically, chuckling with comical shifty eyes, "Or am I supposed to tell you your hair looks nice or something.." Gideon followed along as Yvonne started her way toward the path to see more animals. Her hair did look a little different today. Gideon had a good feeling that this would be fun.

SCRUNCHING UP HER LIPS, YVONNE began to think. "Well I mean...You don't...Potentially think they're conspiring with each other...Right?" It wouldn't of made sense in reality, considering Yvonne's grandmother was strict on blood-purity and always reminded Yvonne and Yvette at every moment within the day. Unless?..."I mean no offence of course but...Lila's obsessed with blood-purity...You know?...Pure-bloods with pureblood's, etc." The date didn't exactly matter to Yvonne now especially since they both agreed to enjoy the day as friends....Right?
At his agreement, Yvonne felt her smile widen a little more while her cheeks flush red a bit. Gideon had finally become her friend after a long mass of time of simply being her enemy and she finally liked the position they were in. Even if their day was considered as a date, the Ollivander was her friend before anything else. The soft moment in itself was ruined as they progressed and Gideon decided to compare her to a monkey. Punching him seemed to be the best plausible answer and at his snort, Yvonne couldn't help but join in with a small laugh. Back then, it would've definitely been an insult, but now? She knew he was kidding. Well. Hopefully.
"Exactly that Ollivander!~" She chimed, walking ahead with excitement in her eyes, looking upon the other animals and reading their small fact files. "I actually done my hair all nice for this..You could at least say it looks pretty." She added, feigning a pout as she looked over at him. He looked good himself and...Way different from his usual robes and scruffy hair. "Did you actually dress yourself today or did Mommy?" She asked as she teased him, before snorting and laughing a little louder.

Gideon's eyes met Yvonne's when she asked if there was a chance Lila and his mother would be conspiring to match them together longterm. His eyebrows scrunched together at the center of his forehead in thought. That wasn't something he thought about. "I...don't know..?" he told her honestly in an unsure tone, not liking his answer, knowing his mother was fully capable of such actions if she wanted to take them. As much as Gideon was happy that he and Yvonne got along nowadays, the thought of arranged marriage upset him a bit. Deep down inside, he knew it wasn't what Yvonne would want either so he didn't want to give her a hard time over the situation. This was all awkward enough as is. The snake shrugged his shoulders upwards, "I wouldn't put it past them though..." he said, biting the inside of his lip.
Yvonne didn't like when he called her a monkey but the sentiment felt natural in the moment. Gideon was trying to keep a good balance between being nice and a complete turd, he felt like he was doing alright so far. Yvonne turned the tables a bit by what felt like flirting but the fifth year wasn't confident. She did look very nice today, or as she requested, 'pretty'. "Oh, sure. You clean up well..." he commented in a half assed tone before smiling ever so slightly. "Just kiddin'. Your hair looks pretty, Yvonne. Gideon rephrased for her, trying to sound more genuine this time. The snake wasn't used to throwing out compliments so freely, but maybe if he did girls, would look at him. Was that how it worked?
Gideons mouth gaped when she asked if his mommy dressed him today. "She may have influenced this ensemble." he fessed up, ending with a chuckle as he fixed his tie. Shit, who wore a tie to the zoo?! His head then cocked to the side after a second, "Why, whats wrong with my outfit?" the snake asked, suddenly feeling self conscious about what he was wearing.

WITH THEIR EYES MEETING, YVONNE knew Gideon was slowly agreeing with her. It seemed...Odd that the two of them would be paired, especially since Yvonne was informed fairly late that she had been put forth in the Matchmaking service. Picking up on his unsure tone and how his eyebrows scrunched together, Yvonne didn't want to believe in such a thing but it seemed more than likely now that they were putting their thoughts together. "I'll call her out on it when we head home and keep you updated in an Owl..."
Keeping up her teasing attitude for a moment longer, Yvonne didn't actually expect him to somewhat compliment her. As a result, her cheeks flushed a soft pink shade and just for a moment or two, she avoided his gaze out of embarrassment. "Hey!.." She whined, before continuing. "You can't try and be genuine after just calling me a Monkey, Momma's boy."
At her earlier retort, the De Snaijer snorted at his confession before looking at him with complete seriousness. She looked him up and down quickly before smiling softly and genuinely. "Nothing at all. You look nice." It was similar to the usual out-of-Hogwarts attire she had caught the Ollivander in and he honestly did look good. "You always dress more 'smart' out of H-School." She added, using 'school' instead of Hogwarts, considering they were surrounded by Muggles.

This 'date' was fun surprisingly fun so far, Gideon was relieved to be paired with Yvonne because he didn't have to endure walking through a stupid zoo with a stranger. So far the conversation flowed and they seemed to be having a good time together. Gideon wasn't paying attention to the time or where they were going, it was a great feeling going with the flow in his usually meticulously structured life.
His eyebrows shot upwards when she said he dressed more 'smart' out of school. She didn't mean it out of malicious intent but he coudln't help but take some initial offense, "I'll take that as a compliment, although I'm sure you just sugar-coated telling me dressing like a dork away from school." he chuckled, not taking offense because it was true. The Ollivander pointed at her, "Okay, we're even now since I called you a monkey." he patted her shoulder.
