"Well, when you get held back your seventh year, you sort of lose a lot of your permissions," Lily explained. Monday was willing to buy that excuse—Lily had been held back from finishing school for another year, and her family probably hadn't been super thrilled with that—but it was a disappointment that she hadn't been there. It would have been lit. In lieu of that enjoyment, though, Lily added that she had been reading books, which she seemed excited about. She said that she hadn't read two whole books since her first year, so that was progress.
"You’re probably my kryptonite, kid. Or silver bullet," Lily told her, at which Monday laughed. "I’m sure you’ve tangoed with werewolves once or twice."
It was nice to think that Lily had forgotten about the fact that she had goblin blood and wasn't quite as immune to physical damage. Luckily, she had never found herself bitten by Saturday or Sunday to know how a werewolf bite—even in human form—might affect her, with her genetics' being what they were.
"So what did Jimmie do?" Lily wondered after Friday had walked off with another joke about her punching people. "Because I didn’t know she could make someone angry enough to punch her."
"Um, there's a first time for everything, I guess?" Monday laughed awkwardly. "She basically acted like it was some huge deal that we're all named after days of week and stuff, acting like some reporter with her quill and everything. Merlin, like, no joke. She had a whole freaking quill and everything!" It was really just embarrassing for Jimmie. "Like, number one… Who even does that? It was hella weird." Monday had to roll her eyes a little. "So she's acting like the media in our penthouse, right, so she could probably go gossip about us on Vibe or something after… I don't know.
"And number two… Like, you're at our party and in our house. I don't know who she thought gave her permission to do that, but you do not go into somebody's house and talk sh*t about them. I don't care who you are.
"So I told her that, right? Like, obviously, I was like, you know, 'Who do you think you are coming in here and talking sh*t about us?' Like, she doesn't even know us. So then she was like, 'Oh,' like, 'I can quote you on that for the school newspaper,' and then she was all, 'I can leave if you're going to call your lawyer.'" Of course, Monday had to imitate Jimmie's accent while she was retelling the story to Lily.
"Like, that's real mature, and she wouldn't shut up… So I maybe punched her in the face." Monday couldn't say that she regretted it, in hindsight. Jimmie, in her opinion, had deserved it for being so rude, but it wasn't something that she planned to make a habit of doing, either. "I mean, it hurt my hand, too," she acknowledged, "but I punched her hard enough to make her have to go to the bathroom because she was bleeding, so…" That was the story of how she'd punched Jimmie Blishwick.
