Silver knew it had been a particularly hard month for Aura. She did not do well with all the consequences of becoming an animagi and had somehow managed to get herself a lot of detention, which he felt was not a good start to being prefects. He'd kept a close eye on her but found it hard to watch just how much pain she was going through for the sake of an idea he'd had. He still believed the benefits would outweigh the costs but the longer it took and the more she suffered, the more second thoughts he started to have about the entire affair. He did fine in staying quiet, he had never been about calling a lot of attention to himself and usually just let his work speak for him. He managed to keep the leaf under wraps pretty well since he wasn't overly vocal around anybody but Aura.
They didn't talk too much, she seemed to fear that she'd accidentally swallow the leaf and that they'd have to start again. Yet today a storm was coming in, meaning it was time to complete the last stage. He'd dragged himself through the mud without any problems at all, figuring he'd finally discover what Aura considered to be so amazing about flying to begin with. He constantly kept checking the vials, needing to be fully certain that nothing could go wrong. He'd done his part to prepare and possibly more. He was ready and so was Aura. He noticed she was impatient and more than ready to get it over with. The discomfort she felt doubtlessly was much worse than his and he was glad she wouldn't have to deal with it much longer.
So as they chanted and she clinked her vial against his in a mock cheers. He raised it briefly in acknowledgement before downing the whole thing in one go. It was best they did this fast. The transformation was quite something. He'd read up on it quite a bit and it most certainly could not be called comfortable. He wouldn't describe it as pain so much as awkward and uncomfortable contorting of limbs as they bended to the new shape. He stretched his wings and inspected them carefully. They looked well. He heard Aura give a hoot and looked at her, instantly trying out the movement of his new neck. Yes, full movement. Aura was first to try out the wings and he gave a bit of a regretful hoot as he too stretched his wings. It was a good thing he wasn't afraid of heights...
Yet as he followed Aura he finally started to understand the appeal of flying. Now that he could trust his wings rather than an enchanted broom, it was a lot easier to enjoy it. He felt himself getting more comfortable. While Aura had chosen to mimick her freckles he'd opted to have his spots mimic a rune in his right wing. A rune he one day hoped to get as a tattoo, although he'd neglected to tell Aura that so far. Not that he figured she'd try to change his mind or anything, it simply hadn't come up yet. He hooted again as he sped up, catching up with his twin for their night time adventure.
