25 FEBRUARY 2025 - TAMARA'S APARTMENT It had been a few days since she had the run-in with Elaine Dupree. Of course, she had survived to tell the tale, but who knew how long that would last. Elaine had given her an ultimatum, to either break up with Liam or watch her family slowly be killed in front of her. And with that flourish of words, she had left her, alone and with her thoughts. If there were two things in this world that Tamara loved more, they were her family and Liam. She couldn't lose either...But the thought of being the reason her mother was murdered, the light leaving her father's eyes, and finding Tia dead, gave her chills. It wasn't like she had planned to kill Liam, he would survive. Her family wouldn't if she picked him. She needed those few days to think, but sadly, Elaine had only given her week. And that week, was up tomorrow. She swallowed up her pride and contacted Liam, asking him to stop by her apartment. Her voice cracked as she spoke, and he questioned what was wrong. But she shook her head, even though she knew that he couldn't see it. That, of course, resulted in him saying he would be right there. She had no more time, no more precious moments to think of a plan. The knock on the door had her swallowing, her feet shuffling against the ground as she made her way towards it. And in seconds, she pulled it open, gently, as if she were scared to break it with her pain. Without even a moment, Liam had her in his arms, and it caused her to stiffen, even as he questioned what was wrong. She shook her head, savoring the moment. But the more she savored it, the likely she would be to back out. She took a step back, "Why don't we sit?" she questioned, once more, her voice broke. 'Mara...just, tell me what's wrong.' She took a deep breath, looking down at her fingers, picking at the flesh around her tore nail polish. She nodded her head, slowly looking up at him as the waterworks began. "I...I want to break-up," she breathed out, her voice a mess as she spoke. He seemed taken aback, questioning over and over again what was happening, why she was acting like this, what he had done wrong. She shook her head, "You've done nothing wrong. You are perfect...It's...well...me." The words came out like a burn on the wrist; it was a stupid excuse that people used, and she had just done it. He laughed, seeming to think this was a joke, before he took a step forward, attempting to catch her chin. But she stepped back, shaking her head. She swallowed, "I can't...I can't tell you the real reason. But I can't be with you. And as much as it kills me to have to do this...I have to. Please...Please understand," she breathed out, shaking her head as more tears flowed freely. He seemed to break right before her eyes, giving her a curt nod. 'If this is really what you want...' She nodded her head, and with that, he turned on his heels and left. He gave one passing glance back towards her before he pulled the door closed behind her. She completely broke, sobs of pain and heartbreak, leaving her lips as she walked towards the wall, clutching at her heart. Breaking up with Ethan hadn't even been this hard, but breaking up with Liam...it felt as if her soul had been split in two. Slowly, she turned to put her back against the very wall for support, her body slipping down to the floor, knees pulling towards her as she sobbed into them. And there she sat for the next hour, just sobbing, howling in pain.
26 FEBRUARY 2020 - AIRPORT The next day, her things were packed. She had headed for the airport bright and early, bags and passport in hand. She looked back towards the entrance, half expecting Liam to be there, a smile on his face as he waved her off. But he wasn't. He never would be again. And with that...Tamara Finch left behind London. But she had ever planned to come back in a few weeks, to be with the family that she had given up Liam to protect. And she wouldn't have it any other way.
