Ambrosia sat in her lab, trying her best to mask her frustration. Her hand rested on one of the stainless steel tables, her fingers tapping against the steel. In the corner sat a man, tied to a chair by magical chains that looked eerily similar to snakes. Their slivering and hissing didn't help. The man was unconscious and had seen better days.
Ambrosia had grown so frustrated with her project that she'd pulled in a helping hand. A fresh pair of eyes, if you will. You see, Ambrosia was trying to create a new formula to control others. Something the Ministry and magic wouldn't detect. Something different then the usual potions and spells, so as to slow the public's response in developing a reversal. While creating something new wasn't hard, recreating something was. To try to get the same, and better results, without using any of the same components. Not only that, Ambrosia had to incorporate some memory modifications into the concoction. Because that was the real kicker. To ensure that if anything ever did go wrong, it could never be traced back to them.
That's where this man came into play. He was a Potioner from Russia, who was, according to rumors, already working on exactly that. He'd also apparently seen some very promising results. The only problem? He was very... very strong willed.
Ambrosia had been trying, for a few days to break his mind but he'd proven to be quite resilient. Well, Ambrosia still had a few tricks up her sleeve...
Ambrosia pushed away from the table, and moved to the prisoner, wand in hand. "Close the door," Ambrosia ordered the only other person in the lab, Prudence. She didn't need his screams echoing down the hall and attracting unwanted attention. She approached the man, and raised her want to his temple. "I will get what I want. Tell me." He shook his head. Not the answer she wanted. "Legilimens."
Ambrosia was a very skilled legilimens. Penetrating the mind like a hot knife in butter. The man screamed as she tore through his thoughts and memories, searching, searching. But he blocked her before she reached the vault in his mind she wanted. Frustrated, Ambrosia searched for something else, something to hurt him. Then... Ah... "Such a lovely child you have." She mentally pried at the string, plucking at the memories. "No... No, not that. Leave my family be," the man pleaded. So, Ambrosia took the first step, erasing the child's name from his memory. Erased him holding the baby at the hospital, the first steps... "Tell me what I want," Ambrosia repeated. The man was crying, but unrelenting. So, Ambrosia broke the spell, frustration mounting. While she loved breaking people, it was always a frustrating to deal with trained occlumens. "I think we need one of your potions to loosen his tongue," she said, though this time to Prudence.
