Nixie was pleasantly surprised that some muggle media got some things right. But thinking that magic and creatures were just a story, lead to many different ideas. Some were wildly wrong, while others were surprisingly close. "The lore definitely got some things right" Nixie wasn't a werewolf, but she was a muggle born. And what he said seemed true all around. She wasn't ignorant to the past wars and the reasons why they had been fought. She didn't like to think about that too much. She explained her obscure muggle reference and Rhys had caught on. ”So like us but without magic?” She nodded "Exactly." Nixie always felt more like Laura Croft, but she wasn't going to go down that road. Not right now. "As many muggle movies do, it over exaggerate, and leans away from their since or reality into the more obscure, just for good views." Muggle life was boarding, so often times the media tried to find the interest and the exaggeration to entertain.
”Ok, so don’t bring up any injuries—check.” She couldn't help but laugh, "They've seen some of my scars, but unless you want to get....'mothered', I'd avoid the conversation." Her family did know that it wasn't a safe desk job that she did, but avoiding extra panic by her mother, was a specialty of hers. Even if she came home banged up and bruised, she would hide or just not tell where they came from. There wasn't anything that her mother could do to stop her. Many times Curse Breakers bragged about their injuries, but it was no secret that some were just never brought up. "Travel is the benefit. Time off is often spent looking for "I heart" Incert place here shirts. And other touristy things. But it's a nice break from the locations, you know?" If she was somehow unable to travel anymore....Nixie would literally explode. Many curse breakers enjoyed that specific part.

Rhys nodded. The overlap between what Muggles assumed and the actuality of being a werewolf was impressive, though he was glad that some of it was untrue. ”Thankfully that whole thing about silver is false.” He recalled something about silver being some kind of weakness. Whether or not he had to be transformed he didn’t know but he knew that typically bites were healed with a silver powder and some other ingredients though the scar would never fade. But the imagination of the non-magical communities always fascinated him, it was a culture within itself but not tombs to rummage through. Though the idea of doing his job without magic was a bit scary, but then again he supposed Muggles didn’t really know the true dangers of walking into one of the Egyptian pyramids. ”If they only knew.” He supposed the Muggle media would be fascinated with some of the stories they had.
’Mothered.’ It wasn’t something he was completely familiar with—being fussed over like that. Though the closest he could get to it was Jamie or Max fussing over being injured at work—though the injuries they knew about had been pretty severe and not great for a dinner conversation. Thankfully, magic and basic first aid helped them fix what they could and nobody would have to know. ”True, its nice to look around sometimes.” Rhys didn’t often follow his own advice when it came to that stuff, but previously he had done many of the ‘tourist’ things. ”Or try all the food.” He also mused, another one of this favorite parts.

Talking about what muggles believed to be true about the magical world, compared to what was actually true was fun for Nixie. It was something that she had thought a lot about, but couldn't really talk about it too much. ”Thankfully that whole thing about silver is false.” The girl gave a hearty laugh. "Could you imagine doing our job if that was true?" That would be rough for any werewolf that wanted to be a curse breaker. ”If they only knew.” She nodded "If only they did." While her muggle family was aware of her magic, and she talked to them about it. Her family wasn't able to explain anything to their friends. And even Nixie, who had some muggle friends when she was younger, couldn't tell them anything. Maybe that was why they had drifted apart.
In many ways, Nixie knew that she was lucky. There were many out there that didn't have good relationships with their parents. And while she didn't always get along with her parents, they were close and had a good relationship. Nixie loved to travel, and not just to spend time working. She enjoyed seeing the sights. "It's always a good way to take a breath and step back." Especially if she came across a puzzle that she just couldn't crack. She had learned that sometimes the best thing to do was to step away and not think about it for a time. Rhys then mentioned trying the food and Nixie agreed. "Mmm. That's always fun. Eating local delicacies that you can't even pronounce." She laughed as she took another sip from her glass.

Curse Breaking without magic sounded a bit preposterous to him but he supposed it was possible, but even that sounded riskier than his current work as it were. He shook his head, and not to mention he wouldn’t even be able to handle most of the artifacts had his affliction given him some aversion to Silver, what would he have done with his life then? Rhys smiled, it was nice to have a good evening catching up. Though he was sure the sight would have confused some of his trainees greatly as he wasn’t known for smiling or laughing but his friends knew him better than that and his family. The lockdown had caused separations for a lot of people whether they were stuck home when they weren’t used to it as he and his colleagues had been or for those that were abroad and used to being home.
”It certainly is.” Though not apparent, there was a small sense of adventure in Rhys if only because he wasn’t used to belonging or being tied to a certain place. Really what kept him in England most of the time was visiting with one of his sisters though it seemed he’d never escape them whether he was here or working. Not that he minded. ”This was the longest vacation I’ve had in a while.” He admitted. ”But I’ll be nice to get back to work.” Rhys drank more whiskey, he’d only really planned to stop in for a drink but a better night had ensured than he expected. ”But it was good to catch up.”

Nixie loved her job, and she had no idea how it would be possible without magic. And not being able to touch silver would have made Rhys' life very different. Without magic, Nixie's life would have been different. There were many close calls where her small fox form quite literally saved her life.
It was nice to have a chance to catch up with Rhys. It had been some time since she had seen him, and she didn't know when she would see him again, seeing as she would be heading out to Rome soon. "Vacations are nice, but nothing is better than jumping back into a tomb." She chuckled and finished her final glass. She looked around, spotting the time "Agreed, It was so good to catch up. We should totally work together again sometime." She chuckled, just thinking of it. "Also, don't be a stranger, stop by my parents any time. But I should get going. Mum will start wondering where I've gotten to."

Rhys nodded, though he wasn’t one that typically like surprises he didn’t mind the pleasant ones. Sometimes he found that his mood could be fixed with a drink and a laugh as much as he might have been okay with just a drink or two. It was nice that they would be able to get back to work and he hoped that they would get to work together again soon. ”I agree, and hopefully your work goes well. I know you’ll like Rome.” It had been a couple of years since Rhys had gone himself, but he wouldn’t have minded another trip there. He finished his glass of whiskey and placed it back on the bar.
He smiled and nodded, the promise of a home cooked meal and that true family experience did make him nervous in terms of the quantity of people, but he knew he would enjoy it. There was something wholesome about it though he wondered if it was just because of his own childhood. ”Yea, I look forward to it. Good to see you.” He took a few coins out of his pocket and placed them on the counter.
