"Another week done" Jasper signed to himself as he entered his sleeping chambers. He had completed all the grading he needed to for the time being, and checked the hour. It was late. He was used to having late nights. That was nothing new. Jasper could feel the sleep coming to him, calling him to his bed. As he looked upon the padded surface the feeling of dread came to him. He knew what was to follow. Before taking the plunge into the soft material, he made his way to the table he had and pulled a glass, pouring some ale into it he sat down and swirled it, contemplating what was to come. He ripped off his tie and unbuttered the first few buttons on his shirt. Ever since the accident, things hadn't been the same. He could talk to someone about it, Parvati had offered before, but he was to stubborn.
He watched the amber liquid swirl in the glass as he meditated on the prospect of his future. The prospects of it didn't seem too high. After some time, Jasper downed the liquid in the container, setting it on the table, he removed his clothing and changed into his sleep trousers. He slid into his bed and waved his wand, turning the lights in his room off. He wasn't able to sleep right away. He moved until his body finally sank into a comfortable position. He closed his eyes, breathing deeply. In time, sleep came.
This wasn't the end, like most nights his dreams quickly turned to the times of ancient Greece. Something he studied for years. As he wondered the scenery, the shadows descended. wrapping it's hold around his wrists, and ankles, slamming him into a wall.
Tossing and turning, the man shot awake just before he was fully consumed by the darkness. He sat up in bed breathing heavily, feeling the cold sweat across his body. He moved his feet so that both were planted firmly on the ground. Proof that he was back in reality, he hoped. This wouldn't be the first time that he thought he was awake. Grasping for his wand, and pointed it at the fireplace. Flames sparked into life. As the heat of the fire landed on his skin, Jasper rubbed his hands over his eyes giving a heavy sigh. The goal was to return back to the moment. Let the night, and the dream slip into nonexistence.
Jasper set his elbows on his knees and rested his face in his hands, breathing deeply. Guess that would be all the sleep that he would be getting tonight. This was a natural way of his life. After staying like that for some time, the man finally took a deep breath and sat up strait. Changing back into some resemblance of teachers robes and left his room, letting the fire burn out.
Just like that, Jasper started to walk around the dark corridors of Hogwarts castle. Something that he rarely did as a student. The rhythmic sound of his shoes on the stone. The halls were completely deserted. Soon the clicking of his shoes silenced, a low rumble emitted from a new stalking beast. It felt good to prowl the halls. He was strong, fearless and territorial. Nothing could hurt him. The darkness and the nightmares had nothing on him. His large teeth and missive paws, concealing dangerous claws ready to strike, were enough to protect him. And if Peeves came back around, he would make quick work of that poltergeist. All he had to do was transform back to retrieve his wand and use the right hex.
