@edmund <3 Her sad eyes looked up at him. "I was pushing so I wouldn't get hurt, Edmund. I've been hurt enough...I don't want to get hurt by you too...it would, it would tear me apart." Addi wasn't going to take that chance. Yes, she wanted Edmund to comfort her. She also wanted her siblings to talk to her. But there wasn't anything Edmund could do about that. He was just her boyfriend...Grey and Claire wouldn't listen to him. Not at all.
Edmund squeezed her tighter. Addilyn listened to his words and she sat up immediately, turning to look at him. "What? You do?" Edmund had grabbed her arms and looked into her eyes. The green in her own looked beautiful, and as she glanced into his dark brown ones she breathed slowly. "I...I won't. I won't, E. I promise." Addilyn moved forward and wrapped her arms around his waist, placing her head on his shoulder, tears falling.

Glad as he was for her explanation, this was not what he wanted. He wanted her to agree to let him help, but it didn't seem like she was willing to even give him a chance. "I won't hurt you," he promised softly. "I won't let that happen." He could tell she probably didn't believe him. More likely than not because she didn't expect him to be able to make good on his promise. He was going to prove her wrong. Today. He didn't know Claire and wasn't sure he wanted to after all he'd heard about her but he knew Grey. He was going to find out what was going on. He wouldn't tell Addi until after though. He didn't want to get her hopes up.
She finally looked at him, and he smiled. "Of course I do, Adds. I've loved you for years. First as my friend, and now as my girlfriend. I won't hurt you, I promise," he repeated himself, hoping that if he said it enough times she'd believe him. Then she agreed to not push him away. Edmund could hardly believe it. She leaned forward, wrapping her arms around his and crying on his shoulder. Instantly he wrapped his arms around her, "Thank you Adds," he muttered quietly, not able to think of anything else to say.

@edmund Close by Nick Jonas <3 Addilyn nodded her head at Edmund. She didn't know what to say. All she knew was that she just wanted him. His arms, his lips, his voice. Everything about him always made her feel better. She didn't know if he actually wasn't ever going to hurt her like she was right now, but Addi was going to take his word for it now, there was nothing else she could do.
"I won't hurt you either, E..." He confessed his own love for her, and although she felt like crap, and incredibly sad, her heart felt a small little jolt of energy at Edmund's words. He loves her. He's loved her for awhile now. She squeezed him in their hug. Addilyn didn't want him to let go. Her heart was breaking and being repaired all at the same time. Her tears eventually stopped, and she let go of Ed only to wipe them away. Addi took a deep breath, taking in that wonderful scent she's missed all week.

Edmund relaxed when she promised she wouldn't hurt him. For the first time in a week, things were all right. Still, everything wasn't good because even though she finally agreed to let him try and help and to stop pushing him away, she was hurting. He knew this, he wasn't so happy that he forgot that important detail. Grey and Claire were still causing her problems, driving her to smoke, making her depressed. Edmund was going to have a talk with Grey, but he wasn't sure what to do with Claire.
Now he needed to focus on Addi. It was lunchtime and he was determined to get her to eat something, now that she wasn't pushing him away anymore. He wouldn't just watch as she struggled through this, he was going to try and help her as much as he could. He watched when she pulled away, wiping her tears and breathing deeply. He smiled gently as he reached forward to take her hand. "Come on Adds. It's lunchtime. I know you're not hungry, but you've got to eat something," he suggested as he stood up slowly, trying to pull her along with him. He really wasn't sure how she'd react to this, but he couldn't leave her out here and he knew she needed food. He gave her a wry smile, "I'll sit by you if you come with me," he teased with a wink.

@edmund <3 Addilyn gave Edmund a look. Of course he wanted to make her eat. Why didn't she know this? She stood up and kept his hand in hers. "I'll go with you, but I'm not promising I will eat, Edmund." Even thinking about food right now made her stomach turn. She wanted another cigarette...that was probably not a good sign but it would calm her stomach down. Maybe she'd just have a coffee. And a bite of ... nothing. She looked up at him and smiled gently, wanting him to know she wasn't angry.

Edmund smiled, relieved when she agreed to go to the Great Hall with him. Even if she didn't eat, getting her to go there was half the battle, wasn't it? He hadn't seen her in the Great Hall hardly at all during the last week. He nodded, smiling at her as he squeezed her hand gently, "I understand Adds, and I'll try not to push you, but don't get mad at me." That sounded like a fair enough trade-off to him, he wouldn't push her too much if she didn't get mad at him. That was a good thing, right? He'd even be happy if she would drink something, or try a bit of bread. Either way, he hoped her not eating wouldn't last for long. Hopefully the talk he was going to have with Grey would help.
He led her into the Great Hall and sat down, still holding her hand. He smiled at her as he put some food on his plate. Honestly, he wasn't too hungry at the moment, mostly because he was worried for Addi, but he was trying to be a good example. After he had some things on his plate he looked over at her, "Does anything here look good to you?" He asked, hoping beyond hope that something did.

@edmund <3 Addilyn nodded in response to him. She wasn't going to get mad at him unless he tried to shove food down her throat. Which, she knew he wasn't going to do but that would be the only reason she would get upset.
As they walked in, hand in hand mind you, which shocked her, they went and sat down at the Slytherin table. She rose an eyebrow at him, smiling gently. "You didn't let go of my hand, E. You let everyone see." Granted, there weren't many people in The Great Hall but the news would go around the school fast, she was sure. And as she glanced down, she shrugged, her stomach doing circles. "Coffee. Maybe toast. Or a muffin. I don't know how much I'll eat..."

Edmund glanced over at Addi when she commented that he let everyone see them holding hands. He could tell she liked that and he smiled back, glad that he could make her happy. "Come on Adds, it's not the first time they've seen it. We normally hold hands or drag one another around after a fight. Not that this was really a fight, but I'm sure everyone else thought it was," he answered quietly, smiling to make sure she knew he wasn't trying to be mean. It was true. Whenever they'd made up in the past, Addi normally dragged him all around the castle by his hand. He hoped that's how everyone would interpret it now because he still wasn't ready to tell his sisters about his relationship. "Besides, I didn't want you to change your mind and run away, I'm tired of eating on my own," Edmund teased, hoping she'd take it the right way. He squeezed her hand, rubbing his thumb along her knuckles.
His smile widened when she said she wanted coffee or toast or a muffin. He reached across the table and grabbed a little of those three, putting them in front of her so she didn't have to make the effort. "It doesn't matter, Adds. A little is a good way to start." He tried to think of something for them to talk about, something to take her mind off food. Maybe if they were talking she would nibble while they talked. "So I haven't heard enough about your summer, Adds. What was the best thing you did during break?" He asked with a smile. He knew his change of subject was obvious, but he didn't care. She was talking to him again and that was all that mattered.

@edmund <3 Addilyn's smile declined a little bit. Not that she wasn't glad that Edmund was holding her hand. She had just wished that he had done it to be proud of his girlfriend that he loved. But apparently it was just a friendly thing. Addi nodded her head at him. "Don't worry, I didn't plan on running away."
Ed then piled her plate with the three things she said and her eyes widened. Goodness, she couldn't remember the last time she ate this much food. Taking a hard swallow, she sipped her coffee slowly. "It was good...I did a lot of shopping and reading. And I hung out with Grey and Kyle a lot but that's really it..."

Edmund was watching when her smile flickered. He was so focused on Addi, on her actions and expressions, how could he miss it? He glanced around the room quickly, wondering if someone did something that upset her but he couldn't see anyone. His eyebrows furrowed in concern as he looked into her beautiful eyes. "Adds, what's wrong?" He whispered, finally giving up on figuring it out on his own. Then the words he said only moments before popped into his mind and he groaned. "I didn't mean it that way, Adds. I'm sorry. It's just, this year has been one thing after another and I haven't had the chance to talk to my sisters. Sus would kill me if she found out from other people, but don't worry. I'll tell them soon and then it won't matter what's going on, I'll hold your hand all the time." He smiled apologetically at her, hoping to get a smile back but not really expecting it.
"Shopping and reading, huh?" He said with a smile, not commenting on Grey and Kyle on purpose. For one thing, he didn't like Kyle one bit. For another, Grey was being a prat at the moment and he didn't want to remind Addi of that. "I spent my summer doing one of those things. Bet you can't guess which," he teased with a quick wink.

@edmund <3 Addilyn shrugged at him. She knew he was going to tell his sister's and Will, so she didn't want to push it on him. Especially not with the way she was acting and feeling recently, having another argument with Edmund would not be best right now. She nodded her head and took a tiny piece of muffin off and put it in her mouth. "I understand..."
He then asked about her summer shopping and she smiled gently, notching he hadn't continued talking about Grey and Kyle. "Well I'd assume you were reading, but shopping could've happened as well!" Addi smiled softly at him. She wished he wouldn't be so awkward about talking about Kyle and Grey, but she didn't expect anything less either.

The damage was done. Edmund knew that when she shrugged at him and he felt terrible. It's just, he wasn't used to being careful with what he said to her. That was something he was going to have to change until he got his Addilyn back. This new, zombie-esque Addilyn was more sensitive and he felt like he needed to be careful or he'd chase her away. Again. He gave a soft smile when she nibbled on a piece of the muffin. At least she was eating something. "Thank you," he whispered, squeezing her hand again. What he wouldn't give to have the old Addi back, the one that laughed and teased and joked with him. The change in her was frightening and depressing and he wasn't sure how long he could stand it.
He gave an exaggerated shudder when she said he probably read and shopped. "You're right, like usual," he said with a smile, "Though I spent much more time reading than shopping. Honestly I think the only shopping I did was with Susan right before school started and I'm pretty sure we made a record with how quickly we went through all the stores." His smile turned more into a smirk. "She knows how much I dislike shopping, so she helped me make it through. What types of things were you reading, Adds?" He asked curiously. Did she study or was she reading for entertainment? He'd never actually asked her if she liked to read or not, so he wasn't sure.

@edmund <3 Addi gave Edmund a small smile when he squeezed her hand. She knew he wasn't going to give up on her eating, but she didn't think she looked too bad...maybe a little gaunt, but losing weight was never a bad thing. And hey, maybe Ed would think she was prettier... Better looking than before. "You're welcome, E..."
He then began talking more about his shopping escapades. "Well, personally, I don't know how Susan does it. I can never zoom in and out of stores. I love shopping. Grey and Kyle used to leave me on my own because I'd spend hours shopping." Addilyn knew that talking about them wouldn't make Edmund happy, Kyle especially, but she liked her somewhat happy memories with Grey. They were all she'd ever have anymore, apparently. "Stuff on teaching, and animals...I'm not sure what I want to do after Hogwarts."

He grinned at Addi, amused that she assumed Susan didn't like shopping. "Oh, no. Susan went shopping before I did, without me. I'm sure she spent hours doing it. And she probably went again after she helped me. She only did that because she knows how much I don't like it," he explained cheerfully. She mentioned Grey and Kyle again and Edmund kept the smile on his face. Why did she keep on mentioning them? Apparently there was no point ignoring it if she was going to bring them up over and over. "Did you shop in one store for hours when they left you or did you move around and look at other stores?" He asked curiously. How anyone could spend more than half an hour in a store was incomprehensible to him.
He nodded when she said she didn't know what she wanted to do. "Me neither. I talked to Scorpius about it at the end of last year, and a little bit with Will over the summer," in what was probably one of the most awkward conversations ever. "But I still haven't found something that really appeals to me. What have you been thinking about?"

@edmund <3 Addilyn shrugged at Edmund. "I walked into a few different stores. It depended on if I actually liked something in the store and bought it." She smiled gently at him. Glancing down at the food she took another sip of her coffee. She began buttering her toast and took a small bite of it. It felt good to eat but bad again at the same time.
"That's good that you're thinking too. I don't know, yet. I'd love to work with animals. But I'd also like to teach. I'm not too sure yet." Addi would teach Care of Magical Creatures if that was the case, or she'd go work with dragons. That would be fantastic!
