Edmund smiled when he noticed Addilyn was still eating. Not a lot, but even a little bit of toast, muffin and coffee was an improvement, right? Not that he was going to make a big deal out of it. Or mention it at all. He was just relieved that she was actually eating something. He nodded, "I guess that makes sense. I just don't take the time to really look for anything. I go in, grab what I need and get out. Unless it's in Quality Quidditch Supplies," he added thoughtfully. "I could honestly spend a whole week in there looking at everything. And just staring at the brooms. SO I guess if all shopping is like that for you ... I can understand it a little bit." He glanced over at his plate, surprised when he realized that he'd hardly eaten anything. Oops. He reached and grabbed a sandwich off the plate and started taking bites, not wanting Addi to tell him off for being a hypocrite. Not that he really thought she would. She probably hadn't even noticed he wasn't eating yet.
Addilyn as a teacher ... Addilyn working with animals. Honestly, he could see her doing either one. If it was up to him- which he knew it wasn't- he thought working with animals would be more exciting. Actually, exciting was what Edmund was looking for. Working with dragons was something Scorpius had mentioned before, one of the only things he actually liked the sound of. Not that he was positive he wanted to do it ... but maybe he'd mention it to Addi and see what she thought. He grinned at her, "Well you're farther along than I am then. Honestly, I could see you doing either of those things. As for me, I just want something exciting, but I can't figure out what. Last year Scorpius said something about dragons so maybe I'll look into that a little more, but I don't know. It's a good thing we have another year after thing one to figure it out, huh?"

@edmund <3 Addilyn gave him a small smile, shockingly. Ah, Edmund in that Quidditch store was always a riot. "I know, E. You love that store." She looked up at him. He was...so fantastic. Everything about him was so great. She didn't know how she got so lucky. Edmund was everything she was not, he was so sweet and caring. And he loved her. He loved her. Memories ran through her brain. When they first met, their sorting, their first classes together, growing up, everything. It was all so bittersweet. "Hey, E...remember when I first met you? On the train?"
Her ears perked up when he mentioned dragons. "Dragons? I'd love to work with dragons." Addi smiled. Animals were so fantastic, and dragons were so...precious. Maybe she'd study up on that more...and try to figure out how she'd get into contact with Charlie Weasley to ask him. That would be so much fun!

Edmund shrugged, a slightly comical expression on his face. "What can I say? I may be slightly obsessed with the greatest sport in the world." He winked, his mood rising as they continued to talk. She still was sad, that was obvious to him, but she was talking and eating and even smiling a little bit. Things had ended better than he thought they would and he was relieved and happy about it. Then she mentioned the day they met and he grinned. If she thought he wasn't going to tease her about the day they met ... she was dead wrong. He laughed, "How could I forget? You said you'd be my friend and then gave me a booger flavored bean." He grimaced, remembering the awful taste. Then he smiled at her, looking in her eyes as he told her something he'd never told her before. "And you said you wanted to be in Gryffindor. I was so disappointed. Here I was, making my first friends in years, and she wanted to be in the one house that I had no intention of joining." His smile turned to a smirk. "Then you got put in Slytherin." At the time, her sorting came as a complete shock to him, but he was overjoyed when he realized she'd gone to the place he wanted to go and he decided that they really could be good friends.
His eyes widened when she said she would love to work with dragons. "Really?" he asked with a sly smile, "Or are you just saying that because you want to be with me?" He knew she wouldn't do that, but he was teasing her all the same. Dragons would definitely be exciting ... he just needed to look at other options before he made up his mind.

@edmund <3 "You are obsessed. It's gross." Addilyn gave him a small smile. But hey, she couldn't talk. She loved Quidditch as well, just not as much as Edmund did. They played on the team together and had for a few years now. It was great fun, but she didn't even consider continuing her career in Quidditch. Edmund did make her a bit happier, but she was still in the same mood as a little while ago. She still wanted a cigarette. And as she looked down at the food in front of her, she really didn't plan on eating all of it. The coffee...she'd drink that.
Addi couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. "I did...that was pretty funny. Gosh I was so ugly, that short hair." She gave a small shudder, remembering her horrible haircut she had. She was not cute in her first year, no wonder Grey didn't want to be known as her brother. But hey, was that the same reason now? Edmund brought up that she had wanted to be in Gryffindor, and she nodded her head, glancing over at the Gryffindor table, searching for a familiar brown haired boy. "Yeah...I'm not sure how well that would've worked out though. I just wanted to be with my siblings but...I think I'm better off over here." Addi looked at Edmund and gave him a sad smile.
Looking at him she gave him a 'really?' look. "No, that's not why, E." Addi took a sip of coffee and smiled into her mug. "I love dragons. They're beautiful."

She said his obsession was gross and Edmund rolled his eyes, not believing her for a second. "Whatever, you love Quidditch too. You might not be as obsessed as I am, but you like it enough that you can't make fun of me for it," he teased her back, loving the smile on her face. It wasn't his favorite smile of hers, he really loved the one that happened when she was truly happy, where her eyes shone brightly and she was about to cry from laughing so hard ... but still. At least this smile made her seem less upset, though it was probably just a show for his benefit. He'd take what he could get.
Edmund's eyebrows rose in surprise at her next comment. "You weren't ugly, Adds. You've never been ugly," he told her sincerely. He knew she probably wouldn't believe him, but he was telling the truth. Sure, her hair did look better long, but it didn't look terrible short. Then she responded to his comment about the sorting, but not at all in the way he'd hoped. He hoped she'd be pleasantly surprised by what he told her, but it didn't even seem to register. The smile on his face fell slightly, but he hoped she didn't notice. Unsurprisingly, she decided to focus back on the reason she was sad, the reason she hadn't' talked to him for the last week. He nudged her shoulder with his, squeezing her hand at the same time in an attempt to bring her out of her thoughts and back to him. "I'm sorry if it's selfish, but I'm glad you're in Slytherin. It would've been impossible for us to be this close otherwise," he admitted, rubbing his thumb over her knuckles as he spoke. He was starting to think that all his efforts were in vain though. Nothing was helping her cheer up.
He forced a short bark of laughter at her facial expression. "I know, I know. You love animals, and that's why you'd want the job, not for me. Trust me, I know," he teased. He'd almost said that she loved animals, not him, but he didn't think she'd take that teasing very well. He hated feeling like he had to censor what he said to her. He never had to do it before.

@edmund <3 Addilyn was glad Edmund knew she was joking. They both loved Quidditch, and Addilyn even liked playing around with Edmund; it was good that he was a chaser and she was a beater, gave them the perfect chance to practice with just the two of them. However, she shrugged her shoulders at her boyfriend. "I can make fun of you whenever I want!"
It was now her turn to raise her eyebrows. She knew she hadn't been ugly per se, but she hadn't been pretty either. Not with that haircut. Now, it was long, flowy, wavy, and beautiful. She also knew how to put makeup on now as well as dressing nicely. Back then she was just a little kid, Addilyn had grown up quite a bit since then. "Oh, stop it, Edmund." She was also glad she was in Slytherin. Addi didn't want to know what her life would've been like had she been sorted in with her brother and sister. Edmund was much better to be around. "It's not selfish...I'm glad I'm a Slytherin, too, E."
He was teasing her and laughing, and it made Addi feel good to see him so happy, but she couldn't bring herself to laugh along with him. She wasn't sure what she was supposed to be happy about anymore; smiling seemed like such a long stretch for her to go. It wasn't something she was up for doing. "I hope I can work with dragons. It would be fun."

She wasn't smiling anymore. Man, today was an emotional rollercoaster. Heck, the last hour was. How was he supposed to help her if she wouldn't accept his efforts? Not that he thought getting angry was a way to fix the problem, so he held all that inside. He could be cheerful for her. He raised an eyebrow at her, "Only if I can make fun of you whenever I want too," he stipulated. If he agreed, he would probably reference this moment in the future when she got mad at him for teasing her. (it was bound to happen sometime)
He shook his head at her, smiling even though he was disagreeing, "Nope Adds. I stand by what I said earlier, even if you don't want to hear it." He wished they were alone instead of in the Great Hall. Alone, he would be able to kiss her and maybe that would help lift her mood, but he couldn't be sure of that at the moment. And he wasn't ready to kiss her in front of everyone at lunch. Susan and Lucy were probably eating in the same room. "Hmm," he tapped the fingers of his free hand on his chin, pretending to be thinking really hard. "Why are you glad to be a Slytherin Adds?" Edmund winked at her again. Really, he hoped that pretending like he was happy would lift her spirits. Not that it was working so far.
He reached forward and mussed the hair on the top of her head. "If you want to work with dragons, I'm sure you'll find a way to make that happen Adds. And if I can help in any way, you know I will." He promised, smiling at her again. His cheeks were getting sore from smiling so much, but at least she smiled back ... sometimes.

@edmund <3 Addilyn wouldn't mind him making fun of her. At least she'd know he was kidding. Other kids...they were just cruel. But then again, Addi really never got made fun of. Almost everyone at the school liked her, and they liked her even more now after she punched Grey. She was the sweetest, bubbly girl in school...with a nice arm. Only people like Theodosia made fun of her...but she just ignored it. "Go ahead!" She gave him a small smile.
At his response Addilyn squeezed his hand. She didn't really know what to say; she wasn't used to compliments so she wasn't sure how to respond or react to them. And she figured that by giving Edmund some type of physical contact he might understand that. Addi looked down at her plate. She had taken two bites of toast and a small piece of muffin. She sighed and took another sip of coffee. Addi looked up at him and gave him a sad smile. "I'm glad to be in Slytherin cause that's where I found my best friend...my boyfriend...the person I love most in this messed up world."
"I know you'll help, E." Addi glanced up at him and made a face. He looked pained. She actually laughed. "Edmund, you don't have to keep smiling. I'm happy to be with you, even if I'm not showing it very much."

Edmund cocked one eyebrow at her, "All right. Just remember you gave me permission." He told her, glad that she was smiling again, if only for a moment.
She didn't say anything about how she looked, which Edmund considered a good thing. At least she wasn't putting herself down. And when she squeezed his hand, he knew that was her way of thanking him for what he said, even though she didn't say it out loud. He stared into her beautiful eyes, felt his heartbeat increase when she told him why she was glad to be in Slytherin. For him. He wanted to wrap his arms around her and pull her into a hug, but he couldn't in front of everyone, could he? Well, maybe just for a second. He let go of her hand and leaned forward, wrapping his arms around her tightly, whispering in her ear, "I feel the same way. I really, I don't know where I'd be without you Adds. I'd be lost." He squeezed her before pulling away. He took her hand back in his and took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heart.
She laughed. She actually laughed and Ed's smile became real, though he knew he wouldn't hold it for long. How did she always notice those types of things? Well, most of them, that is. "Good. Just ... you might want to make sure you remind me that every once in a while," he told her honestly. He didn't mean to say it, but he did before he could stop himself. Hopefully she wouldn't take it the wrong way.

@edmund <3 Addi was okay with giving him permission, but she did actually have to make a mental note to herself reminding her that she did tell him he could make fun of her.
And then Edmund looked like he blushed, and it made Addilyn happy. She enjoyed making Edmund know he was important to her, he deserved to know that. And to her shock, she gave him a big hug. In front of everyone! She gave him a true smile. "I love you, Edmund."
"Don't worry, I'll try." She didn't know why she'd have to remind him, but she would either way.

He grinned when she told him she loved him again. He squeezed her hand, "I love you Adds. And don't you forget it," he teased, finishing off the rest of the food, just wanting to get out of there.
"Thanks Adds," he looked at the food on her plate. She'd only eaten a little, but it was better than nothing and he was good with it. "Are you all ready to leave or do you want to eat more?" he asked, not wanting to push her either way, but he was tired of being in the Great Hall, where it felt like everyone was watching them.

@edmund <3 Addilyn smiled gently at him, nodding her head. "Don't worry... I won't ever forget it." She really hoped she never would. Love is a precious thing, and to not remember that would be... Absolutely horrible.
She glanced down at her plate when Ed mentioned it and she shrugged at him. Addilyn took one more small bite of her muffin and chugged down the coffee. Looking into Edmund's eyes, she let go of his hand and stood up. "I'm ready." They began walking back to the common room, side by side.
