Dom sat at his desk at the front of the classroom, his chin resting on one hand as he gazed off into the distance. He was waiting for his seventh year students to arrive so they could get classes started but until then he was deep in though. His book hadn't seen much progress since the beginning of the year because he had put in off in favor of teaching. And he'd also put it off because he was frustrated that his calculations hadn't brought him any closer than he wanted to be to a world changing prediction. That was what he was really looking for. Some prediction using the number six to tilt the wizarding world on its side. He was so close that he could feel it.
The sound of the door opening and the footsteps of students entering knocked him out of his daydream. He quickly sat up, crossed his fingers neatly and put a bright smile on for all of the brilliant minds entering his class. "Hello, hello! Come in! Pick a seat anywhere and we will get started as soon as everyone has arrived. Or I guess until it seems that the last student has arrived. Or until the start of the actual cla-- I guess we'll get started whenever," He mumbled on until he felt he'd spoken too much. He gave a grim half smile, scratching his head. This was already starting off swimmigly.
(Strict posting order to start off. There will be a total of 4 posts from each of you, Your character showing up, your character doing the assignment, your character pairing with another character regarding the assignment and your character leaving. I will be posting in between each round as well. I'm hoping that it pans out that every character will have a character to pair with but if not then pair with an imaginary character because the ten of you are not the only people in my class. Of course it is the usual three days to post and tag the next two characters in the line with their due dates. I would super appreciate it as well if you would check back after the second date you place and tag the next person if your second person does not arrive Also if there are characters added to the class list before my second post is done they will be added here. Have fun~)

Roxy just smiled at Professor Riveras as he rambled on about when they would start class while she walked into the room, the first one to arrive. He was a little odd and distracted, but he was nice, knew what he was talking about, and was engaging enough that she never fell asleep in class. It was more than could be said for some professors she could name. Arithmancy itself wasn't her favourite class, but it was still pretty interesting; she didn't want to sleep through it.
She took to her seat - second row, to the left, neither too keen nor too detached - and pulled out her textbook, parchment, quill, and inkpot. She set up her space neatly so she would be ready whenever the nebulous everyone arrived. Or the last student. Or the professor simply gave up and began. She smiled at her mental joke. Whichever it was, she'd be prepared.

Actually getting herself to come to class was sometimes a struggle for Cecelia. Most people thought that since she was a prefect she ought to be the most studious student ever to exist, but if she was honest, Cecelia wasn't all that great of a student. She had gotten an earful about studying from both of her Ravenclaw sisters, and she probably looked like a better student when compared to your average Gryffindor, but Cecelia still had a hard time getting to class, especially Arithmancy. Cecelia wasn't born with a head full of numbers, and she dreaded that class. She spent most of it cloud watching, if she got the chance. She was determined to pay attention this class, though, in case something interesting happened for once. That was what kept her going through the hallways: maybe this time something interesting would pop up. Cecelia was surprised to find that she was one of the first people in the room, but didn't make eye contact with anyone before retreating to sit in the back of the room.

Arithmancy wasn't Jamie's favorite subject by any stretch of the imagination, but she enjoyed going to the class well enough. It was interesting, and she liked the professor, so really, things could be worse. When she walked into the class, Jamie noticed that there were already quite a few seats taken, but most of them were scattered towards the back. At the risk of being labelled a go-getter, Jamie sat in the front row, though she refused to sit smack in the middle. Instead, she sat a little off center, pulling out her quill and parchment. The room was oddly quiet, with the exception of the professor muttering to himself, and while Jamie wished it was louder, she wasn't going to be the first to talk. Instead, Jamie waved at Roxy - one of Harper's cousins - before turning back to face the front and waiting for the lesson to believe.

Liona entered the classroom with a thoughtful look upon her face. She did like Arithmancy, though not nearly as much as she liked Divination, so she was curious to see what the professor had in store for them for today's lesson. Since the beginning of the term, there hadn't been anything too interesting so she was hoping today he would shake it up and give them something a little more fun to do. She noticed that the classroom had quite a few students scattered. She wasn't late this time at least. She made her way to a desk in the middle of the classroom, nodding and smiling at a few students who acknowledged her. Taking a seat, she took a piece of parchment and a quill from her bag before setting it down near her. What would she be able to predict today? Numbers always gave her something interesting.

When it seemed that the last few students had filed into the classroom and had taken their seats, Dom stood up and walked to the front of his desk. He clasped his hands together and began to greet the class more formally. "Welcome to class my brilliant Arithmancers," he grinned as his eyes scanned the class. There were students who looked bored and ready for the class to end but those weren't the student he taught for. The few faces that beamed back up at him, eager to learn were what made the job worthwhile. Plus, it helped that with this job he had a little more free time considering his lessons practically planned themselves. He was eager about this one though.
"I know you all have been going over the history for quite some time now and are tired of doing text translations. Today I thought we'd do something more fun and look a little more in depth at yourselves," with a wave of his wand, instructions appeared on the desks of all of the students. "We're going to look at Nurmerology today. Now some of you might roll your eyes and think this is stupid and doesn't even work but if you give it a chance you might learn something new. Just follow the directions and you'll find your social, character and heart numbers. Once you've calculated those we'll move on from there. I promise this isn't nearly as hard as translating Thai tomes," he gave another grin at his student.
(Use your character's first and last names and the instructions described Here to calculate your character's numbers. What each number means is linked in the first article as well but I will link it Here too~)

Cecelia wasn't sure that she liked this assignment. For one thing, unlike the other assignments they had been doing in Arithmancy all year, this one wasn't useful. She didn't want to know anything more about herself, because what she already knew was scary, and not all that pleasant. But it was an assignment, and she had to do it. Sighing, Cecelia got out a piece of parchment and a quill and carefully began scratching the numbers down. 3...5...3...After the tedium of copying all of the numbers onto the parchment, Cecelia was glad to get to the relatively easy part of the process, adding all the numbers together. Cecelia bit her lip as she added, then double checked her math. Her character number was four, her heart number was two, and her social number was also two. What on earth was that supposed to mean?
(@dominick , i didn't know if they were supposed to know what each number meant or not, so if they are, i'll edit this)

Liona listened intently to the professor as he spoke about today's assignment. As soon as he mentioned numerology, excitement swelled up in her and a big grin appeared on her face. She'd looked a little bit into numerology and had wondered why they hadn't covered it even a little over the years but knew it was kind of frivolous. Arithmancy classes were supposed to prepare you for your career, more likely careers as Arithmancers for the ministry or Cursebreakers or something of the like. Nurmerology was more geared towards seeing into the minds of a specific person rather than decoding ancient tomes and prophecies. When the instructions appeared on her desk, she quickly got to work calculating her numbers. The math was very simple actually. At the end of it all, she came out with her three numbers. Her character number was 4, her heart number was 8 and her social number was 5. She scanned the parchment that was given to them with the instructions. No explaination for what the numbers mean? Was he going to give them the explainations? She was curious as to what her numbers meant and what he was going to have them do with them.

Professor Riveras explained the assignment, which Jamie thought was simple enough – she knew how to spell her own name, and it was just basic arithmetic, nothing that she hadn’t already done. It was a welcome break from some of the other classwork, which could tend to be a lot more difficult, especially if you didn’t have a mind for numbers. Jamie wrote her name large across the top of the parchment, carefully writing the corresponding number beneath each of the letters. This seemed a bit unfair to her – your name could change easily, for one thing. If (when?) she got married, Jamie was intending on changing her last name, and she anticipated that all of her numbers would change, too, but that didn’t mean she was a different person. Jamie shrugged her shoulders to herself, and turned back to her parchment. Her character number was two, her social number was three, and her heart number was eight. Jamie looked around to see if anyone else had figured out their numbers, and it seemed they had, but were just waiting for Professor Riveras to tell them what this meant.

The instructions that appeared on her desk were easy enough to follow. Roxanne was not the fastest at the arithmetic part of Arithmancy, but she diligently wrote out her full name, then the associated numbers and summed them all up - her character number was 3, apparently. Summing the vowels said her heart number was also 3, and the numbers for the consonants summed to 9, so that was her social number. The numbers complete, she looked up to find other students looking at the professor waiting to find out what that all meant. She drummed her fingers on her thigh - she'd never been much good at being patient.

Dominick paced back and forth slowly in front of his desk while he listened to the sound of students' quills scratching on parchment. It sounded like the most beautiful melody knowing that they were all doing Arithmancy calculations. That sounded weird but whatever. He loved his work and he loved it when other people took joy in Arimantic calculation as well. He walked around the room, helping a few people when they asked and grinning at the students who asked what they calculations were for, giving them a 'you'll see in a moment' answer. Once he could see that most of the students were done with their calculations he made his way back to the front of the room, clasping his hands behind him.
"Now that you've all completed that task I want you all to use your wands to write your numbers in the air above you. Pair up with someone who matches at least one of your numbers. That is someone who has the same character, heart or social number as you. Don't worry, I'll show you what everything means in just a moment. Hurry and pair up," He stated with a grin. He watched as some students eagerly walked across the room, some pairing with those he assumed were their friends. Other students begrudgingly matched with others they didn't like. Then there were those who nonchalantly paired with someone they didn't know well. Good. Those are the ones who would get the most out of the assignment. Maybe they could make a new friend.
Once they all got settled with their chosen partners he waved his wand again and near them new pieces of parchment appeared with the meanings of the numbers on them. He also waved his wand again and his own numbers appeared above his head, 8 for character, 3 for heart, 5 for social. "Just for transparency sake I put my numbers up here for you all to see. Numerology is all about personality so the numbers are supposed to represent your personality, who you are or who you could become with outside influence. I know some of you may say 'oh no this doesn't sound like me at all' but again, with the right or wrong influence this is who you could become as well. Talk about it with your partner. What similarities do you share? What makes you different? You don't have to just discuss your matching numbers either," he smiled at his class as he spoke and then gestured for them to discuss with their chosen partners.
(What each number means is Here If you want to match up with someone who posted, coolio. If you want to match up with an npc student, coolio as well! Just post talking to the student. If you match with someone who has posted then one of you can post talking to them and the other can post responding to what the first said. Have fun~)

Cecelia obediently put her numbers above her head, writing in glowing orange. She double checked her numbers one last time, which was silly since she already put them up, and then proceeded to look for someone else who had one number in common with her. Lo and behold, Liona Zabini also had a character number of four. The professor had said that they were supposed to find similarities and differences with themselves and their partners, but the only thing she knew she had in common with Liona was that they were both purebloods. Cecelia didn't think that Liona was in the Purifiers, though, so maybe they were both...the good kind of purebloods? Cecelia didn't want to bring that up, though, because then she would have to admit her own involvement in the group, in a crowded room. No, that wasn't any good. "I'm nothing like this." Cecelia said flatly, even though the professor had said not to rule anything out. "I'm not predictable." She said, just in case that wasn't clear. Cecelia was the very definition of unpredictable, especially since Braelynn's death.

Her character number was two, her heart number was eight, and her social number was three. Jamie put those three numbers up in the air, and for a moment, she couldn't see anyone else who shared her numbers. She scanned again, though, and saw that there was a Ravenclaw boy who also had a character number of two. Jamie made her way over to him with a smile on her face, indicating to the number above her head so he knew why she was approaching him. There was another girl nearby who seemed to have wanted to pair with the Ravenclaw boy, but she took one look at Jamie and walked away. Hopefully not because Jamie was intimidating, the Hufflepuff thought, chewing her lip.
Looking down at the parchment that had the characteristics of each number. Since the character number was the one that she shared with the Ravenclaw, Jamie focused on the two. Peace, harmony, commitment, loyalty, and fairness are characteristic. That...was true. "I don't know about you, but loyalty and fairness are important to me..." Jamie said, trailing off. How very Hufflepuff of her. The Ravenclaw boy shrugged and went on to talk about his own personality, which Jamie mostly tuned out, trying not to contemplate her own personality too much. Good and evil. She wasn't evil. She couldn't be.
