Oscar grinned at Anna when they pulled away from their kiss. He didn’t mean to be cocky, but she looked a little off-balance by how amazing his kisses were. Anna asked what it was for, and Oscar raised his eyebrows at her. “Does it have to be for something?” He asked smoothly. He was definitely going to capitalize on how much Anna had appeared to like that kiss. Teasing her about it was going to be too much fun, though she was teasing him, too, so it wasn’t like he was being mean or laughing at her inexperience – or at least it wasn’t meant to come off that way. “I can show you a whole new world, Anna Weasley.” Oscar said with a wink. Thus far, their relationship had been fairly tame, physically, and they erred on the side of emotional, ooey-gooey stuff instead. That was fine by Oscar, but he was looking forward to the physical stuff too, all of the things that he could show her that she had never experienced before. He hoped that she didn’t think it was any less special because it wasn’t his first time, too. “Because I love you.” Oscar added, a belated answer to her question to distract him from his solemn thoughts

Anna couldn't focus on anything but the handsome man in front of her. A part of her thought it was dangerous, how strong her feelings were for him after only a few months of knowing him, but she didn't care. It was worth it. Every second she spent with Oscar made her happier, more excited for the future, which was something entirely new to her. She shrugged, smiling at him. Did she ever do anything but smile when he was around? "No, I just wasn't sure if it was," Anna explained. He seemed to be just as happy as she was, which made her even more delighted by the situation. "Then why don't you, Oscar Gauthier," she teased right back, wondering idly if he would take her challenge but not caring either way. She was just overjoyed to be with him and to finally have their feelings out in the open with one another. Her smile softened when he answered her question from before. "That's the perfect answer, you know," Anna answered with a wink of her own. Really, she had the feeling that him saying those three words would always be the perfect answer, no matter what the situation was. She couldn't get tired of him saying them. It just wasn't possible.

“It is not the sort of thing that we should do in public.” Oscar said, lowering his voice in both volume and pitch as he moved to be even closer to Anna, his lips right next to her ear. “Perhaps some other time.” He pulled away from her then, grinning lasciviously at Anna for a moment before letting his face relax back into something a little more appropriate for a public venue. He didn’t think that anyone was watching, but if they were, there would certainly be a rumor or two about Anna come morning. Oscar didn’t want her to have to deal with something like that, which was most of the reason why he didn’t continue to make remarks of the more sexual nature.
Anna said that his answer – that he loved her – was the perfect answer, and a more innocent smile crossed Oscar’s face. “I will keep that in mind.” He replied. Oscar always had worried about arguing with Anna in the back of his mind, but now he had a new way to resolve them – just proclaim that he loved her and hope that pardoned whatever offense he had committed. Oscar didn’t expect that the answer would work all of the time, but it was nice to know there was something else he could do to avoid arguing.

It took Anna a minute to even register what he said. She was too overcome by how close he was and by the sensation of him whispering in her ear. The word that really did register was "public" and Anna grimaced at him when he pulled away, though she understood what he was doing. They decided to date one another, but no one else knew that yet and what if someone was watching her? That could ... be an interesting turn of events. One that probably wouldn't end up very well. "Perhaps?" her eyebrows rose, challenging his word choice. So ... he told her he was going to show her a whole new world ... perhaps. She wouldn't push him about it now, since he was right and they were in public, but Anna wanted to find out what he was talking about. Especially after how much she enjoyed his last surprise.
Anna's eyes narrowed slightly in suspicion. "Keep it in mind for what?" She couldn't help but ask. What was he planning? Granted, his smile wasn't as mischievous now as it was a few moments ago, but still. Was he planning on using that against her somehow? Not that she really cared. She trusted Oscar, completely. Of course, she would continue to tease him, but that didn't mean she didn't confide in him.

Oscar couldn’t help but chuckle that, of all the words of that sentence to latch onto, she chose perhaps. He was all but inviting himself into her bed, and the only thing she could think about was that it might not happen? That was what made Anna Weasley so refreshingly different from all the other girls that he had dated. “Eventually?” He said, testing another word that would give her as much space as she needed without any of the uncertainty as to whether or not he would go through teaching her about life’s finer pleasures. “…You do know what I am talking about, yes?” Oscar said, remembering Anna’s earlier confession that he had been her first kiss. To him, everything seemed glaringly obvious, but maybe he ought to backpedal a little. Or a lot.
“For if we ever argue.” Oscar said with a shrug. He wasn’t going to pretend that they would never argue with each other, and lying to Anna didn’t seem to be a good start to their next relationship. “You know, I think that is what keeps relationships together.” Oscar mused. Sex obviously wasn’t it, otherwise he and Margaux would have still been together. “Remembering to love even when you just want to fight.” He clarified, just in case Anna hadn’t been following his train of thought.

Oscar was laughing, but Anna wasn't really surprised. The two were teasing one another, so wasn't some laughter normal? She shrugged when he said eventually. That was better than perhaps, right? Though she still didn't know what he was talking about, maybe something even different about kissing? She wasn't going to say anything though. And then he asked her if he knew what she was talking about and Anna froze momentarily. "Maybe ...." she trailed off, figuring he would know that she meant no by that, but she didn't actually want to say it. He might make her, but if she didn't have to, she wasn't going to. Anna didn't like not knowing what he was talking about.
Anna's mouth fell open at the thought of them arguing. She wanted to say that it wasn't a possibility, but after their initial meeting with one another, that was definitely not a claim she could make. Still, she couldn't see herself being so angry that him saying he loved her wouldn't at least help. "I can't see myself ever wanting to fight with you," she told him honestly, remembering the first time they met. It was terrible. She wouldn't want to do that again with him. "But I do think love is at the center of a good relationship," she agreed, smiling at him.

It was obvious from Anna’s answer that she actually had no idea what he was talking about, and Oscar felt himself flush. He felt wrong and a little dirty for making her agree to something when she didn’t know what she was agreeing too. “Again, something that should not be spoken about in public.” He said sheepishly. “I will…explain later.” He finally said. It put off the conversation for a better time, not in the same day as their love confession.
“I don’t ever want to fight with you, either.” Oscar agreed. “But I think that it is likely that we will fight again, sometime.” It was impossible to have a relationship without love, yes, but it was also impossible to have a relationship without a little bit of tension, too. When no one fought, it either meant that there were no problems or that people were burying all of their problems, and since no relationship had no problems, it usually meant the latter. Burying your emotions wasn’t good, because they always ended up exploding, and that explosion was worse than any series of little fights ever could be. “Do you think we are too young?” Oscar asked slowly. Sometimes people used age as a reason why a couple shouldn’t get married or something of the sort, and Oscar wondered if Anna bought into the theory that they were too young to know what love really was.

Oscar was blushing, which meant ... actually, Anna didn't want to think about what it meant. It meant that whatever he was referring to earlier would probably make her blush for a week. Which made it pretty obvious ... but no, Anna was not going to think about that! She didn't want to. Not right now. "Alright," she said after a minute, trying to keep her tone normal and her expression casual, but she did feel a slight blush creep over her face. No, she wasn't thinking about this right now. She didn't want to. She wanted to enjoy her time spent with Oscar, not feel awkward the whole time.
He was right. Of course he was. It was natural for people to fight with one another, especially when they had strong feelings for one another. She saw it constantly during her time at school, she'd just never really been part of that drama before. Anna remained on the outskirts when it came to that sort of thing. She nodded reluctantly, "You're probably right," she said, frowning at the thought. She did not like the idea of fighting with Oscar at all. "Too young?" Anna repeated, but she thought she knew what he meant. "Too young to be in love?" She asked, reaching over and grabbing his hand. "No." Anna answered firmly after thinking about it for just a moment. "Uncle Harry knew he was in love with Aunt Ginny while they were in school. Uncle Ron and Aunt Hermione too. I do think they are the exception though, instead of the rule." Anna turned so she could look into Oscar's eyes, "but to answer your question, I don't think we're too young and I do love you," Anna waited, wondering what Oscar would think about that. Did he think they were too young? She really hoped not.

Anna agreed that he was probably right about the fighting in the future, and he just nodded. It was a truth, albeit a sad one. He didn’t think there was much to fight about now, but he could imagine them fighting about petty things, someday in the future when everything wasn’t so new and shiny. Anna’s answer to his question about whether or not they were too young was a lot more nebulous. Even though she said that no, they weren’t, Oscar thought he sensed some hesitation. Whether that hesitation was hers or his own, he didn’t know, but Oscar enjoyed listening to Anna talking about her aunts and uncles, who had loved each other since they were in school (and were presumably still married, otherwise they wouldn’t have been good examples at all). “I do not know when my mothers got married.” Oscar said, crinkling his brow. He couldn’t remember them ever celebrating an anniversary, and obviously they had both been around when Oscar was born. He didn’t have as many examples of young love, and therefore his conviction wasn’t nearly as strong as Anna’s. “I do love you, too.” Oscar agreed. “But I also worry.” He worried that others would see him as a gold digger or a fame seeker, and…honestly, that would be a smart assumption to make, given Oscar’s past and the fact that he had only realized he had a romantic interest in Anna after she had become the Champion. “But love will be enough.” Or at least Oscar hoped it would be.

Oscar seemed very somber, which was a worrisome thing for Anna. Was this the first time she told him she loved him that he didn't smile at her when she said the words? She thought that it was, since they'd really only confessed their feelings for one another a few minutes earlier, but all in all that shouldn't be an issue. She was just starting to wonder if he was doubting his feelings for her. Or maybe he was simply lost in thought. Then he responded, saying he didn't know when his mothers got married and Anna decided he was lost in thought. He was thinking about his family, which was a perfectly normal reason to be distracted. She smiled when he said he loved her, but it was short-lived. "What are you worried about?" Anna asked instantly, not wanting to have to figure that out for herself. What was he worried about? She looked at him closely, trying to figure out what he was thinking; what was going on in his mind. "Love will be enough for what?" Hopefully it would be enough to help them when they fought in the future or had disagreements, but she didn't know if that's what he was talking about and that worried her.

Anna asked what he was worried about, and Oscar struggled to find a way to put it into words. “I…” Oscar began slowly. “You make me a better person.” There. That much was indisputable fact, something that anyone who knew Oscar would agree on. “But…before you…” Oscar sighed. “I have not always been a good person.” He didn’t want to turn this into some sort of ‘you deserve better’ scenario, but Anna needed to understand how some people were going to perceive their relationship. This affected her, too. “And there will people who think that I am taking advantage of you.” And of course, Oscar would never do that, at least not on purpose, but people were going to think that, and if enough people thought something, it started to look a lot like the truth. “And I hope that love is enough to prove them wrong.” It was a simple enough premise, but Oscar felt guilty for neglecting to mention any of this earlier. He hadn’t meant to ruin their special moment like this. “Because I love you more than I think I have ever loved anything.” Oscar whispered. “And I do not want it to disappear.” Especially not because of the mistakes he had made before.

He was hesitant and Anna couldn't imagine what was wrong. Oscar was having a hard time speaking and she wondered if it was the language barrier or if he didn't know how to tell her something. She reached over and grabbed his hand, hoping that some physical contact might help him. It was weird seeing him like this and she didn't know how to respond. Finally, he said that Anna made him a better person and she looked at him curiously. If she made him a better person, then why ... oh. So he didn't used to be a good person, apparently. "What do you mean, you weren't always a good person?" She asked. She wasn't trying to push for information, but she had no idea what he was talking about. "I mean, if you don't mind me asking," Anna blushed slightly when she realized she was demanding a bit from him with that question. What if he didn't want to talk about it? Or if he didn't want to tell her about it? Her eyes narrowed when he started talking about what people might think. Honestly, she didn't care what other people thought. "I don't care if other people think that," Anna answered bluntly, "as long as it's not true, I don't care what they think or what they say. Didn't we decide the other day that what other people think doesn't matter?" She could see the guilt on his face and all she wanted to do was brush it away. So she lifted her free hand and brushed it across his creek, almost cradling the side of his face with her hand. She didn't want Oscar to worry about this. Then he told her how much he loved her and Anna's eyes started to water, but she didn't cry. "I love you back," Anna told him gently, "and that's not going to change any time soon." She stared into his eyes, hoping beyond hope that he believed her and that her reassurances helped, even if it was just a little.

Anna asked him what exactly he meant when he said he wasn’t a good person, and Oscar flinched. That was a loaded question for sure. Anna gave him an out, saying that he only had to share if he wanted to, but of course he was going to tell her the truth. Keeping secrets from Anna wasn’t going to help him in the long run. “I used to be…I do not know the right word.” Oscar wasn’t sure if there was a good word for what he used to be, other than mean. “Shallow.” He finally decided. “And vain.” Oscar sighed. “I still am vain.” Anna had to have realized that by now, but admitting it still felt like a betrayal. “I judged people by their outside, not their inside.” And if Oscar was honest, he hadn’t quite outgrown that, either. Anna was an exception to his rule. She was the biggest exception, but an exception nonetheless. “I thought I was in love with a Veela girl, because her outsides were beautiful.” Oscar continued, wondering if he was crossing the line into thing that Anna would rather not know. “But you…” He trailed off. “I think that your insides were too beautiful to ignore.” Anna’s soul had always been shining. Even when he had hated her, he thought about her all the time, and Oscar couldn’t see a reason for that beyond the fact that Anna was just so good that even someone like him couldn’t ignore it.
“We did decide that.” Oscar said after a pause. He had been so adamant about it then, but now, everything seemed to be different. He loved Anna Weasley, and he wanted to protect her from all the bad in the world. And if some of that bad came because of him, Oscar didn’t know how he was going to be able to forgive himself. Anna asserted once again that she loved him, and Oscar just nodded. He rested his forehead against hers, and closed his eyes. “You are the best thing about me.” He said, still not trusting him to open his eyes. “And that will not change any time soon, either.”

Oscar clearly didn't like this conversation and was uncomfortable explaining, but he still did. Anna listened to everything she had to say, keeping her expression neutral. She didn't want Oscar to think she was judging him, but at the same time she wanted to give him the chance to get everything out that he needed to. Her stomach twisted slightly when he said that he thought he was in love with a different girl once, but she pushed those feelings to the side. Anna knew he didn't feel that way anymore. She smiled when he said that her insides were too beautiful for her to ignore. "Oscar," she stared once she felt like he was done, "Everyone has their faults. Just because you're not perfect doesn't mean you are a bad person. I have a temper, like you've seen, and when I want to I can definitely hold a grudge against people that upset me. I've realized those aren't very good traits of mine, and I'm working on them, but I'm not a bad person because of them. And neither are you. I don't care if anyone else thinks you haven't changed or that you're being shallow with our relationship. I still love you and I know that they are wrong."
"Then don't go back on our decision," Anna said with a small smile. She didn't want Oscar to doubt what they had because of what other people were saying. She sighed when he moved forward and rested his forehead against hers. She followed his lead and closed her eyes as well. "I don't know what I would do without you," she told him, not knowing what else to say.

Anna seemed to know the perfect thing to say to him, and Oscar had to resist the urge to cut her off by kissing her. Yes, they were both flawed, and yes, they both had work to do, but that was a part of being human, and a part of being in love. They accepted each other’s flaws, and tried to help the other person become better. “I love you.” That was the only way Oscar could respond to that. He didn’t want to thank her for it, because thanks just seemed so insignificant. He had thanked hundreds of people before, but he had only ever loved a few, and Anna was one of of them.
Oscar nodded when Anna said that he shouldn’t go back on his decision. He wouldn’t want to add promise breaker onto his long list of flaws, after all. Anna asked what she would do without him, and Oscar just looked at her and smiled, tucking a stray piece of hair behind her ear. “Without me, you would still be brilliant.” Oscar told Anna. She was the sun, and he was just a little magnifying glass – something that could focus her and make her burn hotter and brighter in one little spot. Without him, she would still burn, she would still warm the earth, she would still be brilliant and fantastic and unexplainable.
