Will said that she ought to try Windsor Castle instead of the Queen, and Jamie made a face. “Well, that’s less fun. How will I know that the Queen knows my name, then?” Not that Jamie particularly wanted the Queen to know her name or anything of the sort, as was evidenced by the fact that she laughed again after saying her question. But she would remember that. Windsor Castle wasn’t hard to remember, since it was their last name and everything. And also…a castle, apparently, because being related to the Queen wasn’t cool enough already without your own castle!
Jamie made a sympathetic noise when Edmund walked away from them. He hadn’t seemed happy, and that was partially Jamie’s fault. “Sorry.” Jamie apologized, casting her gaze downwards for a moment before letting her eyes flicker back up to Will’s. “My little sister’s a Slytherin. She can get the same way sometimes.” Like with the whole Georgiana situation, which Jamie didn’t care to relive.
“Well, this is me, not saying no.” Jamie said, taking Will’s extended hand. “I would love to dance with you, William Windsor.”

"Well... I suppose she could find out some day. Maybe, depending on how good of friends you are with my brother," he said slowly, about Jamie's name and the Queen. "Plus, it'd be easier if I didn't have to explain the whole owl thing to the Queen right now... the Prime Minister knows about the wizarding world but she doesn't so that would be weird to explain," he added.
He felt bad that Ed left, and that Jamie made that sad sound when he left. She said 'sorry' and Will shook his head, even as she spoke of her own younger sibling. "Awe, well. Maybe it's a house trait," he said half trying for a joke. It wasn't really in good taste, though, but that was how he dealt with this. With Edmund. If he didn't calm down then he'd just get angry too.
Then, thankfully, she accepted his hand, reminding him that she wasn't saying know. "I'm glad for it," he said softly, pulling her gently toward the dance floor, "Jamie... uh... what else do I go with? Or is it just Jamie?" he smirked, gently tugging on her hand to pull her into a proper dancing stance.

Jamie nodded in understanding when Will said that explaining the owl thing to his great-aunt would be complicated, since she didn’t actually know anything about the magical world. “I guess since she doesn’t have any political power they don’t want her to be in the loop?” Jamie asked. “No offense, I mean, but rulers are figureheads now, right?” If so, that made the whole Will being royal (Edmund being royal, too, Jamie supposed) a little less scary and a lot cooler.
“Wouldn’t surprise me if it was.” Gryffindors could have tempers, sure, but most of their temper was shouting and being very obviously angry, whereas Slytherins just stalked off, like Ed just had. Jamie wasn’t sure which one she preferred, mostly because she didn’t like it when people had to be angry at all.
Jamie allowed herself to be led onto the dance floor, promising that she’d only let herself do one dance so she didn’t do something stupid like faint all over Will. “Jamie Greyback.” She said when Will asked if there was anything to go with it. She had agonized earlier about telling him her surname, but if he was going to find out in the end, it would be better if it happened now, while they could both still…what, run away? Part as unlikely friends, Jamie decided. That sounded better than running away.

At her question about how they didn't want the Queen in the loop due to not being politically important and all, Will chuckled. He nodded when she asked him not to take offense, "yes, that's pretty much right. It's still a bit nerve racking for some to be royal, though," he shrugged, "I'm fine with it, though. Used to it," in fact, William believed that he'd be a pretty good king if it ever came down to it. He was pretty much raised to believe that he could be. Sometimes even that he should be, but he didn't worry too much about that.
"It took me a long time to stop yelling at him," he admitted, "I was a Gryffindor and I definitely fight a little differently than he does," he said, turning his head to look after the direction Ed went again. Then he sighed, but turned back to her, "I mean, I'm a fencer, so, we could just sword fight," he joked.
Soon they were on the dance floor and she said her name before his hand could find her waist. He froze for a moment, before placing his hand there and pulling her a little closer, "you're not going to bite me, are you?" he said this in full teasing mode, hoping that she wouldn't take offense to it...
A Greyback. Interesting. She didn't look anything like her father, which was a really, really good thing. He wondered for a moment if she was a wolf, too, but then his eyes flickered toward the ceiling that mimicked the sky outside and he found the moon. Almost full.

Jamie nodded when Will said that it was still nerve-wracking to be royal, even if he didn’t actually have any political power. “I understand. Everyone’s watching you, and you have to set an example for an entire country of people.” Jamie couldn’t even imagine how it must have been for Will, knowing that he could one day be Britain’s figurehead and know that most of his subjects didn’t know about magic, which Jamie assumed was at least some part of his life, given that he was a wizard. “Good that you’ve gotten used to it, though. We all get used to our burdens after a while though, don’t we?” She had certainly gotten used to being a werewolf, even if that was a different kind of burden entirely.
“Ed mentioned that you’re all different houses, and since I know his house, and Susan’s, and Lucy’s, I kind of assumed yours.” Jamie said with a shrug. At the comment about fencing, Jamie raised her eyebrows. “I didn’t know that people actually did that anymore.” She laughed. “Is it much harder than it looks?” To Jamie, it just seemed like poking people with a fake sword, but there was probably some finesse involved that she just couldn’t see.
Jamie nearly froze at the mention of biting. She cleared her throat, and then forced a smile back onto her face. “Maybe I will, but not for that.” She teased. Saying no to that sort of question felt like lying, since she had bitten people before, but at least it seemed more like teasing when she put it like that. Will glanced towards the ceiling, and Jamie offered him a wry smile. He had probably been looking for the moon, after hearing her father's name. “Whatever you’re thinking, the answer is probably yes.”

Will nodded, "exactly," he confirmed as she deducted what he meant. "I'm glad I'm accustomed to it now, too. And yes," he said, nodding again, "we do. Though, I think we can turn them into strengths if we really try." He didn't really see his royalty as a burden, but he knew a lot of members of his family did. He had his own burdens to 'get used to' or get past, at least. Like his rocky relationship with Edmund.
"Awe, yes, quite the sleuth you are," he chimed with a little chuckle as she said she figured out his house. He laughed, too, when she said she didn't know people did fencing anymore. "It's pretty hard, yes," he confirmed. "The movies often make it look so much about hacking away without any focus but... some of them get it right. It takes poise and practice. Almost like a dance," he added, his smile slightly mischievous for a moment.
He knew he had struck something in her when he made the joke about biting, and he was relieved that she teased back rather than get upset. "I'll make a note of it," he said softly. Then, she caught him looking up at the ceiling and called him out on his thoughts. He looked back down at her face, finally moving to start the steps of the dance, "if dancing gets to be too much for you, just tell me," he offered gently.

Jamie had been guessing well that night, it appeared, when it came to what Will was thinking about his obligations as a royal family member. When he said that burdens could sometimes become strengths, Jamie raised her eyebrow. Perhaps for him, being royal could become a strength, but Jamie hesitated to try to twist her lycanthropy into anything resembling a strength. The man who had given it to her she could make into a positive thing, since he had also given her all of her siblings, but the disease itself? More difficult.
“Yes, it was so difficult to deduce the fourth sibling.” Jamie said with a laugh. “I have a brother in Gryffindor, as well.” She added, since she had mentioned her Slytherin sister. Will said that fencing was hard, and Jamie just nodded, listening to what he said about the movies and how it undermined fencing’s difficulty. “Are you suggesting I become your fencing partner?” Jamie teased. Jamie Greyback with sharp objects probably wasn’t a smart idea, but since he had compared it to a dance, and they were dancing, how was she supposed to resist drawing the conclusion? (She absolutely was not looking for more reasons to spend more time with Will Windsor.)
Jamie shook her head when Will said that she ought to tell him if dancing was too much. “I’m having a good time.” She insisted. “Besides, I kind of do this thing on a regular basis.” Granted, she didn’t normally spend the night before the full moon dancing all night, but Jamie was fine. Getting a little dizzy, but that was just as much because of the turns of the dance as her physical weakness, she was sure.

Will chuckled as she mocked his calling her a sleuth, saying that it was 'so difficult'. She said she had a brother in Gryffindor as well. "Oh? And is he as aggressive as the others?" he half joked half asked. He might even know of her brother, since he only graduated three years ago... but he wasn't recalling a name. Then, she was teasing about becoming his fencing partner and he held his hands up for a moment in a sort of surrender pose, "hey, hey, I'm just saying there are a lot of dances I could teach you."
She shook her head at his worry about her health and said she was having a good time. "What kind of thing.... Dance with handsome graduates?" he asked, raising one eyebrow very high in as comical a way as he possibly could. Still, he kept a tight grip on her waist and hand, a little tighter than he had a moment ago, so that he'd be prepared if she faltered.

“Oh, goodness.” Jamie said, shaking her head when she thought of Adrian. “He’s aggressive in denying his emotions, but not much else.” It was interesting, because to Jamie, it seemed Adrian would rather flee than fight. Maybe it was because he knew how much damage he could do with a single bite, or maybe it was just because she was his sister and he didn’t want to hurt her. Figuring out Adrian was something Jamie wasn’t sure she would ever do, which was alright. When Will said there were many dances he could teach her, Jamie let out a laugh, but shook her head. “Let’s stick to this one and fencing for now.” She said, winking. Maybe Will hadn’t meant the innuendo, but Jamie had spent too much time around Gryffindors not to catch onto it.
Jamie let out another laugh when Will asked if she danced with handsome graduates often. “I was talking more about the other thing I do at the full moon,” Jamie said with a smile. “But I wouldn’t be averse to making dancing with handsome graduates a more regular thing.”

Will laughed, "awe, well, I'm the opposite," he explained, "I am really obvious about my emotions. Sometimes way more than is appropriate for an adult. Or royalty. Or just for anyone." It was true, though. Will was always very abrupt and up front about how he was feeling. It was hard for him to hide those things, and he wished that he was better at it than he really was.
Jamie let out a laugh at his comment about 'dances' and shook her head, saying that should stick to this type and fencing, for now. Then she winked. Will laughed again, tossing his head back. He hadn't even meant for that to sound... well, he didn't know what he had meant. "Deal," he agreed.
He chuckled again. Wow, there was a lot of laughter happening, wasn't there? That was incredibly nice. Will loved to laugh, and did it as often as he could. She spoke about the 'other thing' she did at the full moon and he nodded to show he understood. Then she was speaking about making this a more regular thing and his eyebrow lowered again, his features softening a little. He just... stared into those eyes, for a moment, silently beating himself for... well, for not noticing them sooner. "How many graduates are you planning on collecting?" he joked, bringing the humor back into his face.

Will said that he was obvious about his emotions, and Jamie nodded her head vigorously. “Don’t worry, the phrase ‘heart on your sleeve’ was practically invented for me.” She assured him. “It’s probably not appropriate for me, either. I’m the Captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team, you see, and while it’s obviously nothing like being the grand-nephew of a queen, sometimes there are times where I wish I could hide my emotions a little better.” Like when they lost, or when she was frustrated, or angry, or sad, or had just had a bad day. It was bad for team morale if she couldn’t hype everyone up.
Jamie had to think a moment before responding to Will’s question about how many graduates she would be collecting that night. “Well, I quite like one, but I’m not sure whether or not he’ll let me keep him.” Jamie said with a small smile. “He’s very important, you know. His great-aunt’s the queen of England, and he might have something better to do than dance with me.” The song was drawing to a close, and Jamie’s face was definitely beginning to feel warmer than normal, but that wasn’t going to stop her from trying to persuade Will to dance with her again.

"We have that in common," he added as she spoke about how 'heart on your sleeve' was about her. She went on to say that it wasn't necessarily appropriate for her, either. "Wow, Captain? Impressive. I was a chaser," he explained. "You may have even seen me play... I graduated in 2020? You would have been in third or fourth year," he knew Quidditch was easy to get emotional during. Especially for the Captain of the team.
She paused at his question and he felt his stomach tighten strangely, as if he was actually nervous about her answer. But then her answer came and she said keep him. His own smile vanished again for another moment, once again really bad at hiding his emotions. He was surprised... and amazed. At her words about him possibly having 'something better to do than dance' with her, he shook his head slowly. "Dancing is important, too," the song was wrapping up, but he didn't loosen his hold on her.

Jamie nodded when Will repeated that she was Captain. “I was kind of a shoo-in, honestly, since I think I’m the only seventh year on the team.” Unless her brain was exploding, which was totally possible, because she was beginning to feel the effects of all of the dancing and the moon and everything else. “I play Chaser, too.” Jamie bit her lip. “We might have even played against each other, then. I joined the team in my third year, which is I think the year before you graduated?” Weird – Jamie was sure that she would have remembered a face like this one. Then again, she had only been thirteen, and not that interested in much as far as the romance field went.
Will’s smile vanished, and Jamie wondered if she had said something wrong. But he said that dancing was important, too, and she smiled at him. “Important enough that we could dance another?” Jamie asked innocently, even though Will had made no motion to let go of her.

"Well, sixth years have been captains before, I think, but I don't know if that's common. I'm sure you're great at it," he said, "quidditch, I mean. Maybe I'll come see you play Slytherin some time. That'd be fun," she chuckled. He grinned when she said she played chaser too but then paused to think if they'd played against each other. "You know, we probably did," he said, letting out a low chuckle of bewilderment. "Small world," really small, like he and Ed taking two sisters to their family ball small.
He nodded at her next question, "well... if we don't break apart then it'll be like one long dance, won't it?" he half joked, but the song came to and end, it was silent, and he still didn't move away or stop dancing. He wasn't even sure if he was really aware of the music at all. His hand that clasped hers tightened around her palm again in a short squeeze, "are you sure you don't need to sit down?" he asked, his brow furrowing.

Jamie nodded along when Will said that sixth years had been Quidditch captains before. She wasn’t sure if a sixth year had ever been given precedence over a seventh year, but she still appreciated that he seemed to have confidence in her Quidditch skills. “Or you can come see me play Gryffindor, so you can feel second-hand embarrassment when I win.” Jamie teased. “It’s long been my dream to beat Gryffindor, since my little brother plays for them.” She explained. Beating Adrian and Lily at Quidditch was something that Jamie had wanted to do for a while, without ever really knowing why.
“Sure, if you want to think of it like that.” Jamie agreed. The music ended, but their dance didn’t, and Jamie had to resist the urge to bury her head in her hands from embarrassment as the rest of the hall came to a stop but she and Will kept going. “Nope, I’ll be fine.” Jamie assured Will. “And if I’m not, guess it’s your job to catch me when I fall, right?”
