Dustin didn't understand why they were having a game night, really. half of the team wasn't available in the first place, and he wondered if Yadiel just wanted n excuse to give him and Evelyn some supervised interaction. It would be horribly Slytherin of him to do so, but... Yadi was a Slytherin. So, a pack of cards - the Muggle kind, not Exploding Snap or anything of the sort - was on the table, as were a Monopoly board and three butterbeers. Dustin had considered opening his own bottle, but he considered it more polite to wait for his guests. He had also second-guessed is choice in board games, but he honestly didn't want to end up singed or with bitten-up fingers from the miniature dragon figurines that so many Wizarding board games seemed fond of. Since he wasn't drinking his butterbeer, Dustin set about setting up the Monopoly board, ignoring the strange looks he got from several of the other patrons. It was Saturday night and he was playing a board game at a pub - what was so wrong with that? Things would only get stranger when his teammates came by and people figured out that the Falmouth Falcons loved Muggle board games.

In theory, this had been a good idea. He'd sent out an owl to the team to get everyone together just for fun. He'd been having a bit of a rough week with plays and then he'd been hard on the team at practice to try and get everyone together as to not have any mistakes in their next game. He may have been too hard, if their reactions had been anything to go by. At first, he'd brushed it off as no big deal, they'd get over it and see that all of their hard work and his planning and pushing would pay off in their next game. And then he'd thought maybe he could dial it back and get everyone together in some environment that didn't require them to work every muscle they had. So he'd thought about having a game night at the Three Broomsticks. Then the declines had started rolling in. Most of the team had told him they'd been unavailable for one reason or another and the only ones who'd told him they could come were Dustin and Evelyn. That was fine. He decided not to cancel it because why not. And he was a little bit curious to see how the were getting along outside of practice now. So he grabbed his favorite board game, Clue, and headed to the pub. Dustin was easy enough to spot when he walked in and he was the only one there at the moment. Yadi took a deep breath. The last time he'd talked to the kid outside of practice hadn't gone so well, not at any fault of his own though. He approached the table and sat his board game down before taking his own seat. "What are you having, kid," he asked, skipping the greetings?

When her captain sent out an invite for a game night, Ev was instantly interested. Not that she really ever played board games. All right, she hadn't. At school she sometimes watches others playing games, but they didn't have any appeal to her. Her parents hadn't been interested in games either. At least, not the type of games she expected to see tonight. She mostly wanted to go for the chance to spend some time with the team. She was back in practices now and things seemed better, but not back to normal and Ev felt almost desperate to find a way to help with that, if possible. She walked into the Three Broomsticks, her eyes instantly finding Dustin and her captain already sitting there together. Well, at least she wasn't the last to arrive. She approached the table with chairs on all sides- perfect for playing games, she assumed. Or else they would have chosen a booth. They both sat across from one another so Ev took a deep breath and took the seat on Dustin's left and Yadiel's right, trying to contain her nerves. Now they just needed at least one more teammate to come take the seat across from her and the square would be complete. She looked up at Dustin and gave a small smile. "Hi, Dus," she greeted before turning to her left. "Hi Captain. Who else is coming?" She hoped he could tell she felt better than the last time they'd met off the pitch. Of course, everything wasn't perfect, but she was improving. mina pandora oliveira @dustin @yadi

Naturally Yadiel would be the first of his teammates through the door. He was carrying a Clue box, and Dustin blanched. Whenever he played that game with Yadi and Ev, he lost by a mile and a half. He just wasn’t as good at deduction or strategy as either of them were. Yadi asked what he was drinking, and Dustin glanced down at the bottles that he had arranged around the table. “Just butterbeer, sir.” Dustin replied. “I have to Apparate home after this.” He said. Technically, there weren’t any laws about Apparating while intoxicated, but if he splinched himself, or worse, Apparated to the wrong location, in front of Muggles, then he and Yadi were going to be having words about him being responsible and doing things that were good for the team, and a bunch of other things about how disappointing he was. Dustin was sure that his Captain still hadn’t forgiven him for the mess that was their meeting in the tea shop, so he figured that erring on the side of conservative and polite was his best bet at getting Yadiel to forgive him.
Speaking of being polite, Dustin tried not to flinch when Evelyn came through the door. Things were better between them since they had talked and flown together, but he still wasn’t sure that he would qualify their relationship as normal. They still needed time to work through all of the truths that they had blurted out during their visit in the park, and forcing their same sort of closeness wasn’t going to work out well for either of them. “Hi, Ev.” He answered, gesturing to the seat next to him for her to take. “No one else is coming… right, Yadi?” Dustin asked, hoping that his information was up to date.

Yadi snorted when Dustin called him sir. So he was walking on eggshells? He had only been this formal for about three months after he'd met the kid before he jumped right in and made himself comfortable. It wasn't like him to call Yadi 'sir'. "If you want me to be upset with you I can but I'm over it. You get over it too," instead of looking at Dustin when he spoke he was looking down at the Monopoly board he'd set out. He'd only played the game a few times but he had the basic rules down. He wondered why he'd decided on this game though. It was then that Evelyn showed up, sitting down in between the two of them. Her formalities were expected; she'd never quite settled into calling him anything other than captain in the few years she'd been part of the team and he didn't think it was necessary to push her into it. "Hey Evelyn. You're the only two that said they could come. Didn't mean I had to cancel the night," he shrugged before looking at the butterbeer Dustin had opened. He'd said something about apparating home afterwards and Yadi looked to Evelyn just as the wait staff came to the table. "Are you having anything Evelyn? You're free too. First one's on me. Second one's on me Dustin." He was certain they wouldn't have any decent enough wine there for him to drink so he'd probably stick with a firewhiskey. He didn't plan on getting drunk but he certainly planned on enjoying a few drinks. It was going to be an interesting and long night if Monopoly was what they were playing first and he wanted to enjoy it freely. Dustin and Evelyn didn't seem too entirely awkward which meant they may have talked since he'd last talked to either of them and Dustin wasn't pouting so the night was already going much better than he'd hoped.

Dustin greeted her back, which was a relief to Ev. She didn't expect him to ignore her or be obviously mad at her, but she still felt like she was walking on eggshells. She didn't want to do anything to make him angry with her again. She nodded slowly when Dustin said that no one else was coming and Yadiel agreed, saying they were the only ones coming and he hadn't wanted to cancel. She felt a small surge of excitement. Alright, this might make things better between her and Dustin, interacting with others around, but being around one another again. Either way, she still just wanted her friend back. Then her captain asked what she wanted to have to drink. Honestly Ev just wanted water, but she also didn't want to be a stick in the mud. "I'll just have a butterbeer," she said, then looking around and realizing that's what Dustin had. She bit her lip nervously, but her choices were either that or tea or water. Ev refused to drink anything that took away her ability to think logically. Rather, she wouldn't get drunk because she always wanted to be in complete charge of herself and her actions and it was easier to stay away from the drinks than to make herself stop in the middle. "So ... what's this?" she asked after a moment, looking curiously at the board in front of them. mina pandora oliveira @dustin @yadi

@dustin @yadi @evelyn Tonight was definitely different than most nights out. Mina somehow found herself at the Three Broomsticks, which was so far out of her normal range, that it was almost absurd. She had been craving attention from other witches and wizards for weeks now, but had absolutely no way to convey that to the usual crowd that she went out with, since they were muggles. They wouldn’t understand. Plus it was fun to drink other kinds of alcohol on occasion. The muggle stuff only served to get really, really intoxicated. Mina hadn’t been planning on doing that tonight, but it happened anyways. At least she was in the Broomsticks and not the…whatever it was that the other bar in Hogsmeade was called. Words weren’t exactly putting themselves together for her right now. The one positive out of this, and yes there was a positive, was that she was sure if all else failed and she ended up in a horrible position tonight, Imogen was close enough to swoop in and save her. Maybe if she was really lucky, her friend would stop by regardless. What a surprise that would be! Mina knew that Im loved her more when she was drunk, or at least had more of a tolerance for her. That was a hard thing to do apparently, because her sister absolutely hated it.
So there she was, sitting at the bar in the Three Broomsticks chatting away with some grizzled wizard and exchanging stories of stuff she really didn’t care about, but couldn’t find a way to escape from. She had been counting how many drinks the geezer had put down since her arrival, and knowing old dudes, he was probably getting ready to clock out. Then she could enjoy the rest of her night in peace. It wasn’t exactly his fault to begin with. She had struck up the conversation in the first place, and then got increasingly bored of it by the time he told her the same story for the third time. Clearly one of the ones that had memory lapses when drunk. She liked to think that she was the fun drunk. Again, her siblings would contest that.
The man finally decided to leave, and topping off her drink, Mina spun around in her bar chair a few times to see if there was anything else interesting to do there. If not, back to solo drinking it was. It hadn’t killed her yet, and she doubted it would tonight. During one of these spins, she watched the strangest thing ever. A boy, or maybe he was a man, she had a hard time telling from where she was, had entered the pub and laid out what looked to be a board game on a table. He was soon joined by a long haired guy, and a girl – a girl that Mina remembered seeing in the store a while back. She couldn’t remember when that was, but recalled having the conversation. That practically made them friends, right? Plus the boy-man looked young enough that if she got close enough she would probably remember him from school.
Slapping down some money on the counter for another beer and a tip, Mina grabbed her two drinks and somehow made her way over to the table. This was far too interesting to pass up. Why would anyone be playing a board game in a bar? That was just strange. Bars were for drinking and finding people to bring home. “Looks like a board game to me,” Mina answered for the girl that she recognized. “Obviously.” Setting her drinks down on the table, she stared at the boy. Where had she seen him before? “Dustin, right?” Mina squinted after a few seconds. “Falcons.” It was starting to look like she was only using a few words at a time now. “And hello again,” she said to the girl again. Mina had forgotten her name already, but a little reminder (or more alcohol) would probably help. “Mind if I join? Games are more enjoyable when there are enough players,” Mina pointed at the fourth and final chair at their table, which was currently empty and didn’t look like it would be occupied otherwise. Doing this was definitely more interesting than passing out at the bar.

Dustin looked at Yadiel cautiously when the other man said that he was over being upset at Dustin. With what Dustin had said, he certainly would begrudge the man another week or two of being upset at him. The formalities weren’t a way for Dustin to keep distance between them, really… just a way to make sure that Yadi wouldn’t bite his head off for being a stupid kid the way he had obviously wanted to when they had parted in the tea shop. In a way, Dustin wanted to get angry at Yadi all over again for assuming that he was so childish that he would still be holding a grudge over that meeting, but he was not in the mood to have another sparring match with his captain. It was better just to let the subject drop. When Yadiel said that he would pay for Dustin’s second drink, the Gryffindor nodded. He wasn’t planning on drinking more than two drinks anyways, but it was nice to know that his second drink would be free anyways.
Dustin made a confused face at Evelyn when she asked what it was. Before he could respond, though, another woman swooped in, saying that it looked like a board game. “Yeah. C’mon, Ev, you’ve never played Monopoly?” He knew her parents were strict and all, but Monopoly was just about as educational as board games came, teaching about probability and money management and capitalism. With his disbelieving question out of the way, Dustin turned his focus back to the mystery woman. She knew his name, despite her slightly intoxicated state, and Dustin thought that should be a compliment. “I don’t have any objections if they don’t.” He said, not wanting to speak for all of his teammates but also eager to have another buffer to keep the fragment of the team from slipping into awkward silence.

Well, this night was already beginning off differently than he'd expected. He nodded when the only thing Evelyn requested a butterbeer and he signaled to the nearest waiter to come take both of their drink orders. Both Dustin and Evelyn had decided to go light tonight. He was unsure if he wanted to impressed by the responsibility and restraint they were showing or if he wanted to snort because he was a little bit annoyed by it. Someone had offered them a free drink and they only wanted a butterbeer? That was really some restraint, even for the two of them. It made him change his own mind and he would only have one firewhiskey but from then on he'd drink a butterbeer. One firewhiskey wouldn't affect him. As he waited for the waitstaff to approach, Evelyn asked about the board game in from of them and before anyone could answer her, a woman who was quite clearly past her beginning stages of drinking approached the table and began talking. Her words were choppy; she didn't even speak in complete sentences but it was just enough to get what she was trying to say across. Maybe. Yadi's brow pushed down but she spoke comfortably with Dustin and Evelyn, she knew them apparently. When she asked to join, Yadi almost fixed his mouth to tell her that it was a Falcons gathering, meaning Falcon players only, but Dustin spoke to her saying that if he and Evelyn didn't mind then neither did he. He couldn't turn her down now could he? She was clearly drunk and she probably needed to get home. She didn't seem to be with anyone else and she looked young. A bit of worry creeped into him for the girl. She was alone in a bar. At least with them, he would know that she wasn't being swept up by some creep. And she was their friend."Sure. Just take it slow with the drinking, Ms..." he left it hanging in the air, asking for her name.

Ev felt her face warm up as a girl approached them, jumping into the conversation and saying that it was a board game. Oh. She'd heard of them, but when it came to games her parents had two that they played: chess and checkers. Evelyn was actually quite good at those games, but she'd never seen this one before and felt a little embarrassed about that, since apparently everyone else had. Then Dustin's shocked question about her never playing Monopoly before and Ev felt her face grow more red. She shook her head. "No ... I've never heard of it, Dus, much less played it," she smiled, trying to make it seem like she was fine being the odd man out here instead of being as embarrassed as she was. She reached towards the box and opened it, taking out the instructions for the game and starting to read them, mostly because that gave her an excuse to hide her face until it went back to its normal color. She looked up when she heard the girl- Mina from the bookstore, Ev suddenly remembered- talking to her and saying hello. "Hi," Ev responded. The girl definitely looked quite a bit different now since she was drunk, but Ev was sure it was the same girl. When Mina asked to join them, Ev just looked at the instructions once more, reading the rules as she waited for the others to speak. Once they had she looked up and smiled. "It's fine with me," she said, adding her opinion to those already stated. Maybe Mina would make this less awkward somehow. Ev finished reading the rules and put them back in the box, looking up at the group. At least the game kind of made sense now. "So ... are we going to start now?" She asked hesitantly. mina pandora oliveira@dustin @yadi

@dustin @yadi @evelyn She knew she could count on Dustin! No objections was basically a yes already in her books, so she took the open seat before the man with the magical mane and the other woman had a chance to answer. Mina had no idea if Dustin remembered her, but she always remembered the good Quidditch players. Plus having met the woman at work and chatting about the Falcons, it made their company easier to handle. Being drunk only unhinged her vocabulary slightly. And her motor functions, but that was why she was sitting down. Thinking ahead like this made her realize what a smart cookie she was when she was drunk. Next Morning Slightly Sober Mina always thanked Drunk Mina for taking care of herself. This was just another one of those instances.
“Miss Mina Oliveira,” she semi-bowed in her chair when the lovely locked gentleman asked her name. She recalled telling the woman about her brother during their chat at the bookstore, but the last name would probably get some lightbulbs going in the other two’s heads. “You guys thwomped my brother’s team a few weeks back you know,” she started in anyways, assuming that they had put all the pieces together. “I might be biased towards the Arrows, but a good match is a good match.” Mina leaned back in her chair, shrugging slightly before taking a large gulp of her first beer. Eyeing the table, she took note of the board game and the drinks in front of everyone. Why was only one of them drinking when they were in a bar? She couldn’t have that. “No,” Mina stated abruptly following the woman asking if they were ready. “You two,” she said pointing at Dustin and the woman, “need drinks. It’ll make the game better.” She had no idea if that was true, but people drinking and talking was always more fun than half of the table doing one thing and the other half doing another.

Getting the name of the slightly-drunk, slightly-crazy woman was a good idea, and Dustin silently thanked Yadiel for thinking of it. If they waited much longer, then they’d never be able to ask because it was too awkward. Mina Oliveira. Dustin recognized the last name almost immediately, but it took him a moment or two to make the connection. Her older brother was on the Appleby Arrows, who the Falcons had, as she had put it “thwomped”. Dustin liked that word – and he was going to find an excuse to use it excessively now. Dustin tried not to preen too much. Starting the game by bragging about how they had stomped all over the Arrows probably wasn’t going to endear them to Mina… not that Dustin needed to endear himself to anyone, much less her, at the moment.
Evelyn said that she didn’t know how to play the game, but Dustin waved her off. It wasn’t that difficult to learn. It was just the strategy bit that would be hard, and since Evelyn was good at logic and all of that stuff, he wasn’t particularly worried about that. And she was playing against a drunk girl, who couldn’t possibly make good decisions about which property to mortgage. “We’ve already ordered butterbeers.” Dustin said when Mina insisted that they needed drinks. He sat down in the seat to the right of her, grabbing the dice from off the table. “Let’s get the game started, and then we can start drinking.” Dustin picked up the Scottie piece and put it at the corner of the board. “Which pieces do you guys want?” He asked, impatient to get the game started.

The young woman introduced herself as Mina Oliveira and he recognized her name immediately. He tried to make himself aware of all of the incoming and outgoing quidditch players in the British and Irish League. Her brother was a player on a team in the league. The game she was referring to when they'd beat them had been a pretty close game too. Dustin had pulled the snitch in the end, putting them just slightly over in points and giving them the win. It had been in the sports news for more than a few days, giving them more positive coverage and Yadi had been pleased by it. It was then that Evelyn spoke up, asking if they were going to start now. Yadi went to nod but Ms. Oliveira decided to speak up, expressing insistence that Dustin and Evelyn needed drinks to play. She seemed to be over her threshold of drunkenness and it seemed that she wanted everyone to be a little drunker. Sometime between ordering and now, the wait staff had made their way back over to them with the drinks they'd ordered. He took a sip of his firewhiskey, almost in satisfaction because she wasn't referring to him as she spoke. She was pushy and he got the distinct feeling that she was stubborn when she demanded something, a trait he definitely didn't want to deal with. Then again, she was joining into a game that was well known to create arguments between even the closest of people so he would probably see for himself if she was as stubborn as she seemed. Dustin then suggested they start the game, asking which pieces they wanted before picking up his chosen one. The little dog sat in position at the 'Go' point of the board and Yadi picked up and placed his chosen piece next to it. The top hat. The obvious choice for him. He took another small sip of his drink and sat it on the table.

Evelyn wasn't exactly nervous to be playing a game here, but she did feel a little bit tense, especially about the fact that she was the only one who didn't know what the game was. Dustin just waved when she mentioned that she'd never played the game before. All right ... so that meant it probably wasn't too hard or complex. She took a deep breath and focused her nerves down. She shook her head and was about to say something when Mina demanded that she and Dustin order some drinks, but Dustin spoke first so Ev decided to let it drop. She didn't want to echo everything he said. Dustin seemed excited to start the game, choosing a piece and putting it at the start, telling the rest of them to follow his lead. Yadiel grabbed one as well and Ev looked at the remaining choices. It wasn't like any of them particularly represented her. She grabbed the car, moving it to the start and then turning to look at Mina, sure that the game would start once she chose her piece. mina pandora oliveira @dustin @yadi

@dustin @yadi @evelyn There wasn’t much talking going on here, and Mina wasn’t sure if she liked it or not. The game hadn’t even begun yet! And only the long-haired dude was drinking, aside from her of course. This's was clearly how athletes had fun; no drinking and taking a silly board game seriously, as if it was the Quidditch World Cup or something. Or maybe it was. Maybe the Quidditch teams banded together for one large monopoly tournament throughout the season and this was one of those matches. In her mind, all of that made sense, and was only reinforced by another swig of her first drink. The two she had in front of her would be good enough for a while. If they were taking this seriously, then she would. Or at the least, try to take it seriously. That would be difficult while playing a muggle board game in the middle of a crowded bar.
“Butterbeers aren’t real beers you know,” Mina stated matter-of-factly to Dustin. “That’s like trying to get drunk off of root beer. Trust me, I’ve tried.” Nodding her head, she watched the other three pick their playing pieces and set them on the board. “Waiting for little old me?” she giggled as she stuck her hand into the box and produced a penguin playing piece. She had never seen this one before. Must have been a newer one. “So who goes first? Me? You?” she pointed at Evelyn. “I just want to win this and buy you all a round of drinks at the end.” She was sure her wallet could handle three more alcoholic drinks today. If anything, it would keep her in check a little more.
