Angie and Olive walked out of Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream Parlour on that calm, March afternoon. Angie had some errands to run and promised Olive she could get an ice cream so long as she behaved herself well while they were in the alley. Angie wasn't sure how she managed to let her 4 year old talk her into letting her have the ice cream before they began their errands, but here they were, just arriving in the alley and already Olive had a single scoop cone of chocolate pumpkin ice cream in her hands and slowly getting all over her face. Angie was fairly sure she had wet wipes in her purse and as she stopped to search for them, Olive took it upon herself to climb up onto a bench and exclaim, "I'm flying. Mummy!" the 4 year old lifted up one foot at a time while she flapped her arms like wings. "Sweetheart, you'll drop your ice cream." Angie warned her, she looked up and saw that the bench had been previously occupied and her daughter was standing next to a person who still had plenty of space on the bench, but Angie could see that Olive was likely disturbing the person. "So sorry about her." Angie insisted, scooping up her offspring into her arms.

Written in these walls are the stories that I can't explain Diagon Alley, they say that this place has everything. But one was very wrong in that opinion. If there was one thing it lacked, then it was a certain calmness. This place always lacked the peace and though it is a market area to be honest, Diya kind of expected a much more dignified place ever since she first entered this place with her mother, all those years ago. And even after all this time the place remains to be just the same a few more shops were added, some were removed while some were renovated. But the Alley itself was the same. That day she was at Madam Malkin's, for some work and upon completing it she decided to take a break and stepped out into the hustle and bustle of this Alley. As Diya walked through the cobblestone streets looking around and enjoying. Some old ladies smiled at her recognizing her as the worker of the Madam Malkins they all come often to. While some students recognize her as the worker at Honeydukes. And a very few recognize her from their time at school and some random guys wink at her. Shaking her fondly at this Diya walked on and reached a bench so that she could just relax and enjoy her ice cream she brought earlier on her way. And then she was joined by another witch who had on a little toddler. Di just concentrated on her ice cream, until the little blonde head decided to enjoy herself and was trying to fly. Diya's smile grew as she watched the little kid, and the witch spoke to her, the mother of the child he thought. "Not a problem, let her enjoy"said Diya as she faced the other witch with a smile on her face letting her know it was okay. Honestly though, Diya can never shy away from kids and their smiling faces. It soothes her a lot, more than she cares to admit. With a smile she spoke "what's her name? She is quite a lovely girl" and then she added "I'm Diya by the way.As she saw the witch sitting by the end of the bench, there was something about that witch which seemed awfully familiar, as she smiled back. Who was she? She was not someone in Di's year so may be she was younger or elder to her. Well, only way to find out, "have we met before? I think that I have seen you".

Angie was glad to see that Olive hadn't disturbed the woman. As unfortunate as it was, there were many people who dislikes children and found them a nuisance. However, Angie loved her daughters imagination and always let her know how important it was to be herself regardless of what people thought. Angie only intervened because, while she didn't have any sort of gift of sight, she could see the inevitability of her daughters ice cream falling on the woman and either ended in tears from Olive or strong words from the witch. Angie was always cautious with strangers. However she was very glad when the woman insisted that Olive was fine. Angie set Olive down and let her continue to enjoy her ice cream. "Thank you, her name is Olive, she's 3." Almost 4, Angie almost had a 4 year old daughter and nothing made her feel older.
The woman introduced herself and her name sounded vaguely familiar to the Slytherin girl. "Angie." she introduced herself back, "Truly a pleasure to meet you, Diya." she said sweetly. She asked if they had met before and Angie couldn't help but agree. "I was thinking the same thing. Likely in school." she admitted. "I was in Slytherin at Hogwarts and graduated in 2019." she explained.

Way I feel right now I swear we'll never change Diya just enjoyed little kids considering that she had quite a number of cousins and many distant relatives who had young kids. And considering that their family has always been the type to spend time with their oh so distant relatives, Diya often found herself in company of kids and considering that she was the eldest unmarried witch she was the defacto nanny to look after them. And while she did not like to be the nanny, over time she grew to like and enjoy the kids' presence. And now she totally adores them. As the other witch introduced the kid as Olive to which Di smiled and said "nice name". And looking at the little girl, she said "hello Olive". Even though Diya wanted to converse with the girl, she did not know how the other witch would take it as. After all they were both strangers to each other. As the women introduced herself, once again Diya was stuck with a familiarity she could not quite place her finger on. But nevertheless she said "the pleasure is all mine Angie." And when the other witch too agreed with her earlier comment, Diya began to think all the faces she has seen during her time at Hogwarts. And just then the other witch mentioned her graduation year which sparked her interest and memory. "I remember you, I was in the same year as you in ravenclaw though. But we did have a few classes together, history being one of them"said Diya with a smile. Not that Di was an anti-slytherin to core, but she often stayed away from them in order to not drag herself into awkward situations. And besides, it was not as though Di has been present in her history class often to know who other sat in with her. TAGS : @angie NOTES : If Angie was born in 2001 June, she would've been a graduate of 2019 making her an yearmate to Diya who was born in Jan 2001 <3

"Helllllooooo." The 3 year old sang as she licked her ice cream and jumped over every crack in the pavement that she could find. Angie gave a giggle. "She's a little personality." Angie explained with a smile. "Watch out for her, she's going to be a big entertainer one day." she laughed. She loved her daughters personality and encouraged her to be herself. Life with a 3 year old was certainly entertaining. Angie sometimes wondered where her daughter got her personality from, but then she thought back to herself in school and it all made sense. "Right! I remember, though if I'm being honest I rarely went to History..." Angie admitted. It was an easy class so she continued to take it all 7 years because she knew that even if she skipped a lesson she'd be alright. Angie had nothing against any of the houses, but she found Gryffindors' a little pompous, though it was possible she was judging the entire house based on one or two examples. "How are you? What have you been up to since we graduated?" she asked, happy to catch up with her classmate that she likely never would have spoken to. My how things had changed. @kyles3 ((Also, thanks! I realized I had been calculating wrong! ))

Diya's face lighted up with a grin as the young kid smiled at her and greeted her. It always brought a smile to her face and this cute blonde was just soo adorable as she jumped on. And at Angie's words, Di found herself nodding and said "a very sweet and cheerful personality". And at her comment about her future, she gave a small chuckle and said "yeah that's for sure" and she then proceeded to try and converse with the kid, "Olive, will you remember me when you grow up and be famous?" As Angie mentioned that she rarely went to history, Di found herself giggling a bit as she spoke "well, since I myself never attended that class, I don't think we had much of a chance to interact".It was quite nice to catch up with her former classmates, it always brought her a sense of happiness and she clung to the fact that they were all still happy and living. What with the kidnappings and murders, she always felt on edge. As she asked about her, Diya gave a bright smile and said "I am doing quite well, working part time at Honeydukes and Madam Malkin's"as she took a mouthful of ice cream. And then she asked the same "how about you, how have you been?"

Olive shrugged when Diya asked her if she would remember her once she was famous. Angie held back a snort, it was a rather snarky little remark, but she knew her daughter hadn't meant it to be rude, "I think she's just very invested in that ice cream." Angie insisted, a small blush on her face, slightly embarrassed. Olive continued to skip around the pavement , sometimes deciding to hum to herself in-between licks and bites from her cone. Angie however, listened to Diya explain her job situation, keeping one eye on her child, whos blonde hair was starting to frizz out of her pony tail. "That's great, those both seem like fun places to work. I remember I applied for Honeydukes way back when, but Madam Puddifoot's scooped me up first." she admitted. "I still work there, full time." she loved her job, but recently she began to wonder if she should be reaching higher and aiming for a better and higher paying job. She and Olive got along fine with her current job, but she knew their quality of life had potential to increase if she aimed higher. "Oh, and obviously I had a child." she added with a smile.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] You know I can't fight the feeling. And every night I feel it. [attr="class","itokaytext"] Diya chuckled in amusement at the reaction she got from the kid. She kind of expected that or similar reactions from the kid, after all she wouldn't even know what exactly Di was talking about. As Angie answered her back, she nodded and said "of course she is. but I am quite surprised that Olive has a good attention span. kids at that age usually shift a lot, if you know what I mean"and looked on at the girl who was in her own world. At times, Di wondered if she herself can be like that and escape the harsh reality in front of her, and the same mind would classify that as cowardice and while she was not a lion, she sure was a little bit brave, and that was what pushed her forward in life. At Angie's words, Di gave a smile and said "yeah they are, two are quite stark workplaces for me to work at which makes it more interesting for me."When Angie mentioned that she was working at Madam Puddifoot's Di smiled and said "mmm I quite like the tea they serve there, well if you're going to be there, might as well drop in a few times after work".At the mention of Olive, Diya had a on a small smile and wondered if there was anything in her own life which she could say with a smile. Yeah she was an order member, which was a rather proud thing for her, but that wasn't exactly public knowledge which gave her no reason at all.

Angie was very impressed by Olive for her age, but she didn't want to giver her too much credit, she was after all, a 3 year old and there were still many developmental milestones that she hadn't come to yet. "Oh her attention surly slips." Angie admitted with a laugh. "I think in her mind she slips between reality when someone talks to her or she has a question, and then back into her imaginary world. Every now and then she'll have questions about her imaginary world though and those are always fun to answer. She's at that questioning age." Angie nodded. She knew it was coming, they survived the terrible twos and now were on the curious threes. However, Olive would turn 4 soon, but Angie really didn't think the phase of seemingly never ending questions would end soon. "I was thinking of taking her to Honeydukes fairly soon." Angie admitted. "She likes going in there because I give her a little bit of money and she can pick whatever she wants and hand the cashier her money at the till and she feels very grown up." of course, Angie didn't let her do everything herself, but Olive was quite independent and Angie always encouraged her to be however she wanted to be. Plus, it was nice for Olive to start recognizing the value of money even before she understood what money was. "Please do, it's nice to see adults rather than students in the tea shop from time to time." she gave a laugh.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] Don't let it go like this Maybe we can go from this [attr="class","itokaytext"] When Angie began to talk about her daughte, Diya found herself listening intetnly. She was going to become a mother soon, if her family had a say in it, and knowing about kids would help her a little. "Imagination and reality the two things sperated by a very fine line"said Di with a mile. Often she found that adults too mixed those two up, and looking at the little girl, it woould happen of cousrse. But while the adults do it less when they're particularly drunk, but the kids on the other hand,do it more often and slowly grow out of it. And looking at Olive, she knew that it would be a long time. "Questioning is actualy pretty better, at least we get the chance to teach them many things with the simple things they ask about" said Diya, rememebring her mother's words. When Angie mentioned that she was thinking of coming to Honeydukess, Di smiled and said "it would be great to see lil Olive do the shopping herself, and smiled. She always likes kids, and this blonde one had made her way into the list easily with her cute smiles and gestures. "I wish I would be there to watch her"as she wondered about her own shift coming weeks. As her idea of dropping by was met with a smie, Di nodded and said "of course, and I totally understand what you mean by seeing adults at workplace."Thogh Di was actually happy about having two jobs making her chances slightly better than Angie.

Angie could agree more with the woman's statement. It was a very fine line. Even adults often asked and answered questions in terms of hypothetical's, a more advanced form of playing pretend that required degrees of knowledge and a clear grasp of the concept for foresight and planning. "I love that she asks questions, she's learning so much right now, at this age, it's incredible, it's true what they say, that their brains are like sponges. It's also a little challenging because I really have to watch what I say, if I accidentally slip a bad word at all she'll be on top of asking what it means, there's no escaping it." she explained before taking a deep breath with a soft smile still playing on her lips. "I'll definitely bring her by again, maybe for her birthday, it's coming up in Early May." Angie insisted regarding bringing Olive to Honeydukes, she still wasn't quite sure what she wanted to do for Olive's birthday this year, but she had the day off work, so they would definitely do something fun. She then realized Diya probably didn't want their entire conversation revolving around Angie's daughter, so she decided to ask, "So what about you? Are you like, seeing anyone or anything?" she asked with a smirk.

Diya nodded at the other witch's words she let out a chuckle when she mentioned how the little one picked up all the words including the curse words. Di half wondered how her children would turn out to be considering the colorful language she finds herself using most of the time. And even after all these years her mother still finds it annoying and often thinks how Simmie ended up learning them. Looking at the witch she asked something which had been bugging her quite some time, "not to sound overly rude, isn't Olive's father around?" The way Angie spoke, it seemed to her that she was a single mother and that had her thinking of the father of the little kid. Besides she didn't even want to know who it was, she only wanted to know if they were present in the kid's life or not. But then again that didn't matter much in her eyes, for she believes that women are capable of handling things without a man on their life. How she wished that her mother would agree to it, but that was too much to ask. As Angie mentioned birthday, Di brightened up and she spoke up "that would be wonderful to have the kid on her birthday. I'm sure she will have a surprise waiting" her eyes shining with pure look of happiness. She may have had known the kid for only a few minutes bit in Diya's eyes kids were absolutely lovable and she would love to get a chance to spoil them with chocolate. When Angie asked about her love life, Diya turned to look at the other I've as she spoke up "I wish" she said sighing softly. She had always had a bad luck when it came to dating and effective after all these years she still was very much behind when it came to relationships. And not to forget the drama which would ensure in her home upon knowing of it. "My family is a bit on the old side when it comes to things like wedding and such. So they never approve of anyone apart from their own choice" said Diya with a shrug. It is rather difficult to explain the workings of her family considering that their family was from a totally different cultural background than the natives here. And living in this place for all these years did nothing to change that. And while some were beneficial in her eyes, some were outright hilarious and some were even towards the support of the patriarchal society. @angie

Angie felt her heart drop a little when Diya actually asked about Olive's father. It was hard for her to answer. Olive's father had asked that Angie not tell anyone that he was the father. They hadn't ever been in a relationship, it was a one-night-stand during which Olive was created, however Aerick was still in their life a little. He came by every now and then and Olive knew him, but she knew him as her God-Father instead of her father. Anyone who had known either Angie or Aerick would have known that Angie hadn't known him well enough to want to make him the god-father of her child, but they had never been questioned about it. He was nice to them, he was sweet to his daughter, and Angie and him got along well enough since there was no romantic feelings between them and no hard feelings besides the fact that Angie had no idea why he didn't want people to know he was Olive's father. She tried not to make a big deal about it, but it ate at her. "Uh no actually." she responded to the woman. "Olive's father died just before she was born." she admitted, going through the story that she and Aerick had put together just after Olive was born. "It's just the two of us." she smiled.
Diya launched into an explanation about how her family was quite traditional. Angie wasn't very surprised by that, however she did find it fascinating. "Really? Do they plan on setting you up in an arranged marriage then?" she asked just out of curiosity, things like that had always interested her. "How do you feel about all of that?" she asked again.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] Don't let it go like this Maybe we can go from this [attr="class","itokaytext"]
When Angie took her time to answer her back, Di momentarily felt bad for bringing it up. May be it was a sore topic and she made it worse by bringing it up. Oh dear Merlin, she did not want the other witch to think that she was trying to dig up on her personal life. And she knew that mothers were rather protective over thir kids and wondered just how much bad her question might have sounded. She was put out of her thoughts when Angie answered back with a negative. Di nodded her head sadly upon hearing the reason and said "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked that".And the last statement made Di feel more guilty than before, if that was possible.
While it was not common to see people follow the old ways, many find ot barbaric, while it was considered traditional in their family. When Angie pointed about arranged marriage, she frowned a little and said "if they get their way, yeah, they would no doubt set me up in an arranged marriage."When she asked about how Di was feeling, she looked at the other witch and said sarcastically "definitely not happy."And then she realised that there was no need for her to be all snarky and annoying towards the other witch. She was only trying to know, and thus she spoke up again "sorry, I shouldn't have.... the topic has always been the cause of my irritation"and not to mention that she recently had a fight with her mom over this.

Angie shook her head when Diya apologized for asking the question and bringing the subject up. "That's okay. Olive's still to young to really ask questions about it so that's good at least." she admitted. She didn't want to make a big deal about it. Olive knew that her father was dead, but she didn't exactly know what being dead meant. It wasn't a concept that her 3 year old brain had grasped or began to question. She herself felt weird about the whole thing. She felt weird about lying to her daughter, she felt weird about lying to her parents and that Olive's fathers parents didn't even know they had a granddaughter.
Angie shouldn't have asked such a stupid question, but, how was she to know that Diya wasn't okay with going the more old school route? Some people were fine with it. She felt bad, however for upsetting her. "Right, of course." she said, hoping that she wouldn't hold it against her. Of course the topic was sensitive and Angie really shouldn't be prying into the life of this total stranger she met in the Alley. "I'm guessing your family would be really upset if you didn't go along with it then?" she asked while nodding.
