Yadi was sitting at a table in a quaint diner somewhere in Diagon Alley after a long day of shopping and fun. He always looked forward to spending weekends with his daughter when he could. At the moment though, he was staring at her, unblinking, with a stern look on his face. To others sitting around the two of them, the scene looked particularly odd because the girl was doing the exact same thing, her hands resting intently on her hands. They were in the middle of an intense staring contest. He wanted to blink so badly; she was actually pretty decent at holding her eyes open for long periods of time. He attributed it to the amount of time she'd spent staring into windows that day because she wanted something. When he felt himself close to the brink of blinking, he couldn't take it any longer. He leaned forward and muttered the two words he knew for certain would end the competition quickly. "Flobberworm mucus." She burst out into barrages of 'ews' and laughter, saying that he cheated. He blinked a bit to relieve his dry eyes but he chuckled along with her. The sound of the door to the diner opening distracted him for only a moment and he noticed a woman and her young daughter walk in. He smiled just a moment remembering when Lucia was that young and turned his attention back to her now; she was still fussing at him about his clever move.

Angie and Olive had been spending a long day running errands in the Alley. The day had started with ice cream, and Angie still wasn't sure how she had let her 3 year old talk her into ice cream before lunch, but it made her happy and Angie was a sucker for a happy child. The pair walked into the diner, Angie carrying a few bags on her arm and asked for a table. the waiter took them into the back and to a table next to a man and a child who seemed to be having a grand time, the child was fussing at him about how he cheated at something and it wasn't fair. Angie knew that sound all too well, whenever Angie won at a game, which, since her daughter was only 3, Angie did often. Olive was still a little too young to grasp the concept of planning moves and thinking ahead and strategy. And of course, Angie was easy on her, but there was only so much 'letting her win' she could do before Olive was breaking the rules of the games to win them. Angie wanted her to be clear with rules and respect them. "Hello." Olive said to the girl at the next table while Angie suffered their bags under the table and the waitress brought them over some waters and a menu.

Yadi was still getting a not-so-stern and thorough talking to amidst laughter from his daughter when the wait staff brought the woman who'd walked in with her daughter over to a table that was near their own. She'd had a lot of bags in her arms and he'd wanted to move to help her but just as he was going to she got herself situated perfectly fine at the table, getting her bags in order, her daughter situated at the table, and then herself in that order. He got a closer look at the happy looking child and found himself amused remembering how Lucia had been at that age. She would have been loud and bubbly, entertaining the entire restaurant from the moment she sat down right up until she fell asleep in her chair. His daughter must have followed his line of sight because she leaned over and whispered to him. "She's so cute! Was I that cute when I was little?" Yadi chuckled and nodded of course. The baby then turned to Lucia and said hello. Lucia couldn't contain hr excitement enough. "Hi baby! She's so cute!" her words were directed towards both the baby and the child's mother then as she waved. Yadi laughed once again and waved at the woman, mouthing a quick 'sorry' for his daughter's excitement. He didn't if the woman wanted to be bothered, she looked like she'd had a busy day already, so the apology seemed to be in order if his daughter had disturbed them.

Angie had been quite the social butterfly when she was in school, she wasn't exactly friends with everyone, but she would have talked to anyone, whether it went well was a completely different story and one that she hoped Olive would never hear. However, Angie realized as soon as Olive began to learn to speak that she was going to be just as same, at least, she was just as social and extroverted. She really hoped however, that she never inherited her mothers love for mischief. The young girl sated next to them responded when Olive said Hello. Angie wasn't at all surprised that Olive had greeted their dining companions, everyone they saw today got a hello and normally a little bit of conversation also. The man across from the girl, who Angie assumed was her father mouthed sorry to her, but Angie shook her head and Olive flashed his daughter a huge smile when she called her cute. "It's really okay, I should be apologizing, I hope we didn't interrupt your meal, my little one is very personable." Angie explained, a little bit of a blush on her cheeks. "My name's Olive, what's your name?" Olive said, sitting up in her booster seat a little. Angie gave a little giggle and a small, 'what can you do?' gesture to the man.

He quickly waved off her comment about her apologizing. She had as much control over her daughter's social tendencies as he had over Lucia's apparently. He chuckled a bit at her blase gesture as Lucia continued her conversation with the young girl. "I'm Lucia, Olive. " she had a big smile on her face as she talked to the younger girl and Yadi loved that about his daughter. She had obviously gotten her social skills from her mother and he was eternally grateful for that. When he wasn't with his daughter, Yadi came off as dismissive of others because he really couldn't be bothered to entertain others unless he was out on the pitch. He usually had one thing or another he could be doing anyway. When he was with Lucia though, he was pretty much a different person. He'd had a few of his players comment on it before and he'd dismissed it but he could see what they meant when he had interactions like the one he was having now. "You're not interrupting. As you can see, Lucia's just as sociable. How old is she, if you don't mind me asking?" Just looking between the two of them he knew that the little girl was much younger than Lucia's age of 12. Well, twelve going on thirteen at the end of the month. "I turn thirteen on the 25th!" He'd known Lucia was going to add it in and he shook his head, amusement clear on his face. The woman herself looked young as well so he couldn't imagine the little girl being close in age to Lucia.

Angie loved watching her daughter interact with the older girl. Angie didn't get to see Olive with other children often as she was only at daycare with others her age while Angie was working, and while Angie got positive reports back from her daycare teachers, and Olive wowed her the whole way home with stories of her day with all her friends; but Angie was the first one of her friends to have a child, and both of her siblings were still in school so, hopefully, they had a while to go. "Lucia is like a princess name!" Olive insisted, in awe over her admiration for the grown-up girl. She was a very independent 3 year old. "She's 3." Angie answered the man with a smile, happy that she and her daughter hadn't been as disruptive as she thought. She was so lucky with Olive, she only ever through fits when she was tired, but Angie knew her daughter well enough to know that it was time to go home before Olive got to that point. "She'll be 4 in May though," Angie added. "May 1st." Olive corrected her mother. "Yes, May 1st." Angie nodded with a laugh. "And happy early birthday, Lucia, you must be in Hogwarts then, what house are you?" Angie asked the girl. Angie then looked to the man sitting near her, "I'm Angie, by the way." she added, not wanting to be pushy, but figuring their daughters seemed to be happily interacting so she didn't want to be rude.

Oh boy. Yadi snickered when his daughter looked up at him with pure happiness in her eyes over the younger girl's compliment of her name. "Well if I'm a princess, of course you're a princess too!" Yadi was happy that Lucia was able to interact with the younger girl so easily. He'd been a little bit stuck up at her age and had hated interacting with anyone younger than he was, trying to be mature for his age. He blamed it on the fact that he was an only child but seeing as Lucia was an only child it was probably more due to the fact that he hadn't been the nicest kid when he was younger. He'd grown out of it. He thought anyway. When the woman mentioned that her daughter was going to be four soon he nodded his head. That seemed about right, Lucia had been the same at that age. She spoke clearly and in full sentences and Yadi smiled and waved at the little girl. "I'm sure she keeps you busy. This one surely did at that age," both he and Lucia laughed at that. He'd told her stories about how much of a handful she had been when she was younger and they laughed about it often. As soon as the woman, who introduced herself as Angie, mentioned Lucia going to Hogwarts, Yadi groaned. Here it comes.. "Well I actually go to Beauxbatons. I'm a second year. I wanted to go to Hogwarts so I can be closer to papa but he and mama both said no. They thought Beauxbatons would be better for me. I like my friends and my professors but I think going to Hogwarts would have been so cool!" He held in his laughter as she went on about how she'd wanted to go to Hogwarts. "She lives in Spain with her mother so Beauxbatons was the better choice. She tells this story to anyone who will listen," he shook his head at his daughter as she huffed. "And I'm Yadiel," he introduced himself after the fact.

"I like fairies more than princesses because fairies can fly." Olive explained. Olive wasn't a very princess obsessed little girl, she much preferred magical creatures when playing pretend, dragons and hyppogriffs were popular in the James flat, but Angie knew the daycare center likely read books and encouraged play about princes, especially since Olive went to a muggle center and the teachers and other kids weren't really well knowledge about magical creatures. Angie cleared it all up, telling the teachers that Olive had a very active imagination and liked to make up creatures. Angie and Olive knew they were real, but that was their little secret when they were in the muggle world. "She's a handful, but so worth it." she agreed. Lucia explained that she didn't actually go to Hogwarts and Angie felt a little embarrassed even though the young girl didn't seem to mind her mistake. Lucia explained that she went to Beauxbatons even though she wanted to go to Hogwarts, possibly as a little comment towards her dad, Angie was dreading when Olive began to learn about sarcasm and any sort of passive-aggressiveness, Olive was a nice girl, but she was also very sassy. "Oh, I'm very sorry for assuming." Angie insisted. "I'm sure Beauxbatons is lovely, though, I've heard it's a beautiful castle and the uniforms are very stylish." she smiled. Yadiel explained that she lived with her mother in Spain, she wondered why the two didn't live together, they were likely separated, but she had no room to wonder, she went around telling people that Olive's father was dead to cover up a stupid mistake with a man who only came around when it was convenient to him. "pleasure to meet you." Angie insisted, but Olive was far too captivated by her mother's use of the word castle, "you get to live in a castle?" the 3 year old asked Lucia.

He eyed his daughter curiously; she had a pensive look on her face after the girl's response and he wondered how she was going to get out of the hole she'd dug. He was certain his daughter didn't want to upset the girl. Yadi knew that Lucia didn't really have a preference, she just loved things that she thought were pretty. She had a bunch of stuffed animals and she always sent him little colorful bracelets that she made while she was at school for him. He always had some around his wrist, minus today of course. "You're right. Fairies are pretty cool because they can fly and they're magical like us. We have many that live around the area where my school is." Yadi nodded in agreement at her addition. Kids were absolutely worth it if they were what you wanted. He had never been prouder until he'd become a father. Lucia really was the light of his life and he would do anything for her. When Angie began apologizing for his assumptions, Yadi shook his head once again to wave it off, it wasn't really that big of a deal. "It's hard not to assume considering where we are. Most students around here go to Hogwarts," he commented while Lucia was nodding her head repeatedly in agreement with Angie's comments about her school. "Its's really pretty and the castle is huge but I was really jealous of the older kids who got to go to Hogwarts this year. I haven't even been once! Papa used to tell me about it but he won't anymore." He had to hold in his laughter once again at her words. "That's because all of my stories usually end in you begging me to transfer you to Hogwarts." He was then grateful for Olive speaking up and asking Lucia a question. "Yeah! I'm sure you'll get to go to a school with a big castle someday too! They're really pretty but they have a lot of stairs."

"I've never seen a fairy for real, just in books." Olive admitted, excited by the fact that Lucia had just said that they lived around the Beauxbatons castle. "I want to go there." Olive stated. Angie gave a half laugh, half sigh. She knew Olive didn't quite know what she was asking for in asking to go to Beauxbatons, especially since she was only 3 and didn't quite understand the concept of school yet, but she was closer to 4 than 3 and very intelligent. "We'll see." Angie decided, she had shown Olive the Hogwarts castle a few times, just from the outside, the 3 year old had never gone inside, but she had been in awe during their entire Hogsmead trip. Hogsmead alone had likely sold Olive, the three year old loved shops, and it was made even better when she got her very own pocket money to spend in Honeydukes on whatever she wanted. Angie had always loved the village of Hogsmead, she loved the way that the castle loomed in the distance, it felt very protective. Lucia explained that she was jealous of the students who got to go to Hogwarts for the tournament and Angie nodded in empathy. She remembered when she was that age, how everything was the biggest deal. "Well I'm sure those kids miss your castle." Angie countered. "They're sleeping in a carriage, aren't they? They must miss their dormitories and their friends that they had to leave behind." She knew the carriage was actually probably very comfortable. Lucia said the castles were big with stairs and Olive said, "I can climb stairs now." she was very proud, it was a relatively new feet for the 3 year old, she could go up the regular way, but she still had to come down one step at a time, holding the railing as she did both.

Yadi's amusement seemed to be never ending. He chuckled as Olive commented on wanting to go to Beauxbatons now that Lucia had told her that fairies lived around the school's castle. There were lots of forests surrounding the French wizarding school campus, nothing like the Forbidden Forest that sat on Hogwarts's grounds. He hadn't seen the campus himself but his ex-wife had gone on a tour of it before she'd sent Lucia to school and had told him about it. At Angie's response to Olive, Lucia chose that moment to lean over and whisper to him "That usually means no. I know because you say that all of the time." Yadi shook his head for more reason than one. She wasn't wrong about him but he couldn't assume that all parents were the same. It was also rude to whisper. "Did you attend Hogwarts yourself?" he asked suddenly to draw less attention to Lucia's social misdeed. He assumed that she had because, just as she'd assumed earlier, they were sitting in Diagon Alley. He could only assumed that she didn't live too far away that she didn't attend the school. Yadi watched as Lucia considered what Angie was saying about the older kids possibly missing Beauxbatons while visiting Hogwarts. He saw her dismiss the words just as quickly. "I don't think so. They've been there for 6 years already so they are probably really ready to leave. Now that social trait, blunt logic, was one she'd probably gotten from him. Plus he couldn't imagine the carriage being nothing less than luxurious if all of the things he'd heard about Beauxbatons were correct. "Well at Beauxbatons you can climb a bunch of stairs to get to the top of the castle. Though they don't really like us going up there," Lucia spoke to Olive but then added the last bit as an after thought. He groaned then. His little rule breaker.

Angie gave a quite snicker at Lucia's comment. She wasn't wrong, but Angie couldn't help but giggle, she was almost exactly how she expected Olive to be at that age, funny, blunt and sweet, everything Olive was now, but she couldn't quite grasp the concepts of yet. Angie took a sip of her water to take a second to clear the laugh off her face before nodding at Lucia's comment, "You are a very smart young lady." she insisted, traces of something she would surely laugh about later still on her face. Being a mum was all about reserving the best stories for friends and family, children were so funny, even without meaning to be, because they had't quite grasped the adult concepts and manners than you learned growing up yet and it came out in strange and humorous ways. "I did go to Hogwarts, I was in Slytherin House." Angie nodded to Yadi, she remembered from the conversation earlier that his daughter had spoiled his answer for him, he had gone also, if she was remembering correctly. "Yes perhaps your're right," Angie said again with the corners of her mouth turned up as the girl decided that the 7th year students who traveled to Hogwarts were likely ready to be done. She couldn't really argue with that, she felt that way when she was a 7th year, she was anxious to get on with her life without school, little did she knew what her life would bring her. "Can you see the fairies from up top?" Olive asked, bringing the conversation back to where it began.

Lucia beamed at Angie's compliment of her intelligence and Yadi pressed his lips together to hide his amusement. So it seemed that, yes, apparently 'We'll see' usually meant no in her parental language as well. "Thank you, Ms. Angie." It was then that Angie revealed that she had been in Slytherin when she'd attended school. She looked to be younger than him so he didn't think she went to the school during his years there but it was interesting. She didn't give off the usual vibe he got from fellow members of his house. "What a coincidence. So was I," he commented with a nod and half smile. Though his earlier years in Hogwarts were difficult due to pureblood sentiments, with the the war having just ended and the school newly reopened, he still took a bit of pride in his house. Slytherin house had a bad name, within reason, but he'd had been proud of the true traits the house represented. There was good and bad in every house. He liked to think that he contributed to the good side of things. "Papa told me what that means! He told me about the four houses too. Does that mean your--." Yadi's eyes widened just a bit. "Oh look the foods arriving," he commented suddenly as the waiter was approaching their table. Telling Lucia about each of the houses had been... interesting. She'd formed her own opinion about each of them. She'd decided she didn't like Slytherin, like most people. "What? I was just going to ask if her favorite colors were green or silver..." said innocently. Angie agreed with Lucia's statement about the older students at Beauxbatons and he did as well. At his seventh year he'd been ready to start his Quidditch career. He'd put in a lot of hard work and had been scouted at one of Hogwarts games. "I'm sure you can! You can see over the top of the forests and that's where they live so it makes sense," Lucia replied to Olive with a laugh.

The man told her that he was in Slytherin house too and she gave him a smile and a nod, it was a coincidence and something that maybe left her feeling a little softer towards him. She already was enjoying their dining companions, but she had a soft spot for people in her same house, especially if, like her, they were nice people who were in Slytherin for some of the non-evil aspects of the house. Slytherin's often got a bad reputation, however, Angie was fairly certain she was a Slytherin because of her recklessness and her confidence rather than her desire to sweep muggle-borns from attending magical school or anything. Angie never cared about blood status, she found it a pointless importance. Anyone who could do magic was magical and that was all that was important. "What a coincidence." she agreed with the same soft smile. Lucia began to ask her a question about being a Slytherin and she was interested to hear the question, she wouldn't take offense to it, no matter what it was, she figured it would either be a simple question or a learning opportunity to the young girl. her father cut her question off when their food arrived. The waiter then turned to Angie to take their order, since the other two had been there much longer than Angie and Olive had been. Angie ordered for them and then Lucia continued her question. "I do very much enjoy green and silver." Angie nodded matter-of-factly. "I like Pink." Olive intercepted.

Yadi felt a tick of camaraderie rise up in him as she repeated his statement of coincidence, a smile on her face. She seemed nice, not at all like any of the stuck up purebloods that had been from his year who'd given him trouble just for his blood status. He didn't know her well but she seemed like someone he would be pleased to know. He felt like that sometimes when it came to fellow Slytherin. Only sometimes. When the food arrived for both he and Lucia, he dug in with all of the grace and manners instilled in him by his mother and father. While Yadi wasn't a pureblood, his father was. His paternal family were considered noblemen in Puerto Rico so with that title came all of the rules and necessities of proper society. Including proper eating etiquette. The food was good. It was their first time ever trying the cafe out and it was a decent pick. He'd have to come back sometime. Once the waiter had taken Angie and Olive's order, they both comment on Lucia's question about favorite colors. He smiled at Olive's and watched as Lucia began to grin. "How funny. My favorite color is pink too. she replied just before taking a bite of her food. He personally thought their house colors were hideous together. But that wasn't important. "So Ms. Angie." Yadi smiled at the honorific, "Do you like quidditch at all? Yadi tried not to listen to closely to her answer. She hadn't recognized him as a famous quidditch player so he didn't think so. Everyone in the UK who were hardcore fans knew who he was.
