Edmund said he wasn't scared, of course. That was what they did, countered each other when joking around. He said he didn't want to overwhelm her and she scoffed again, then tossed her head back a little in a light, breathy laugh. Addi wasn't really one to laugh aggressively. Just simple and sweet, just like her.
Well, how she used to be before all this strangeness.
As his eyes narrowed and he questioned the truth of her skipping count she pursed her lips, trying not to smile, her own eyes narrowing. "You don't believe me? Ooh, some friend you are," she chuckled. "I do have an idea though," she opened her eyes to normal again, "how about we go again, and this time we count each others skips?"

Edmund laughed when she said nothing, just laughed at his argument. Yeah, he knew it wouldn't hold water with her. She knew him too well. They knew one another too well, actually. He knew that she'd stop him if he was ever overwhelming her with something, but he still didn't think it was possible.
Her words started out serious, but Ed could tell she wasn't taking his doubt seriously. She knew him too well for that. "I'm the best kind of friend. You know that Addi," he countered with an innocent grin. He watched her curiously when she said she had an idea. "Alright, I can do that. Just remember you're counting my rocks jumps, not your own," he teased. "Get ready," he directed, pulling out his own rock "Get set ... go!" He flipped his own rock out of his hand, eyes already trained on her rock.

He said he was the best kind of friend, and she rolled her eyes at that affectionately. He really was, though she wasn't going to admit that right now. They were in a moment of competition, this was no time for sentimentality.
He reminded her to count his rock skips and not her own, and she stuck her tongue out at him. "Well, duh. It was my idea," she laughed. Then he counted down and when he said ´go´ she tossed her rock, making sure her eyes watched his. 1 2 3 4 5 6, oh, come on, 7! He was really bringing in the hard game. She turned to him, a grimace on her face. "Seven," she said out loud.

Edmund merely shrugged when Addi said that it was her idea. Then he followed her rock, counting as it skittered across the water. Six times. He looked over to her, smirking when she was already grimacing at him. She didn't even know how well she did and she was grimacing? That was telling. He started to laugh when she said that he got seven. "You got six," he told her.
He picked up his next rock, tossing it into the air and glaring a little bit. How come he was only getting measley sixes and sevens? He was used to getting things like tens through twelves. "Wanna try again? Maybe you can beat me this time," he teased, quirking an eyebrow at her. Really, he needed to raise his game.

Six. Addi pouted, her brow furrowing. "Well, well, well," she shook her head. He asked if she wanted to try again and she shook her head. "I'm tired, Ed," but she was smiling. "Let's go back," she held her hand out for him to take. Whether he did or not, she'd start walking back toward the castle. She leaned over and bumped shoulders with him, "I'll beat you in this game, Edmund Windsor. The tournament shall be fantastic," she teased.
She was just happy to have something else on her mind. Something other than blackouts and missed moments. Her mind briefly drifted to Adrian, and what he would think about all this blackout stuff...
