Finn could tell that Dominique was having fun, watching where she was going but still viewing the snake they had created behind them. Hearing her laugh was an intoxicating sound; she laughed like she was free as a bird, without a care in the world. As if any burdens she had been carrying just lifted off her shoulders as they skated around in circles. Finn didn’t know what her schooling had been like, though he was well aware that a boy her age had been murdered by Elaine Dupree, as well as all the attacks on the train and the Beauxbatons and Durmstrang students. He didn’t know if he had helped her feeling this happy, but he held onto the flame of hope that he had had something to do with it. “Ah, a girl after my own heart,” Finn said with a laugh, pressing a hand over his chest in agreement. He led her over to a table, still holding her hand, whether out of habit or because he just wanted to, he wasn’t sure. He let go rather reluctantly as they took their seats. He slid a menu over to Dominique and picked up his own. “Now Miss Weasley, I don’t expect you to be one of those girls who orders a miniscule salad only to push it around on her plate. I hope you won’t disappoint me,” he said with a mock serious tone, raising an eyebrow before grinning to show he was joking around. He perused the menu, the growling of his stomach growing more obvious. “Ladies first,” he said, gesturing to her when the waiter came over to take their order. @dominique

Dom was enjoying herself. On this date, she felt carefree and relaxed, which was a feeling she loved and didn't always feel. It wasn't entirely unknown to her, since she could normally distract herself from her struggles by being around practically anyone, but it was nice that right now she didn't have to make a plan. She just had to show up for the date and have fun. Fin was fun too. It was nice that he was taking charge and leading the fun. She noticed he was still holding her hand as they approached the table, but didn't pull away yet. He slowly let go, right before they sat down. She was glad he was sitting across from her. Easier to see him that way.
She grinned when he admitted that he loved food as well. Good. Maybe he wouldn't judge her for how much she ate, because all that skating really worked up an apetite for her and Dom wasn't about to not eat just because she was on a date. That wasn't the way she worked. As he slid the menu over to her, he said as much. Dom rolled her eyes, "I'm not going to avoid good food just because I met you a short while ago," she answered, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. She looked at the menu and her smile widened. Until she realized that they had two of her favorite foods. Crap. Then the waiter came over before she was ready and Kai was telling her to go first. Double crap! "Uhhhh I'll have the double burger with fries," she told him, before looking over and watching Kai. At least she knew she'd be happy with her food and that it might fill her ... doubtful.

Kai leaned back and pressed both hands over his heart. “Ahhh a girl after my own heart,” he said, closing his eyes and grinning widely before sitting back up. “I’ll have the same, but add a chocolate milkshake and…” He looked down at the menu. “Let’s add the appetizer sampler.” Folding his menu, he handed it back to the waiter and looked over at Dominique. “You seem like the kind of girl who can hold her own with food,” he commented, meaning it as a very big compliment. He utterly despised when girls ordered salads on dates - it wasn’t as if he didn’t know she’d head right home to eat more once the date was over after all! “You might be the first girl to order a double burger with me,” he added, then chuckled. “I hope you take that as a compliment for the record - I find it deplorable when people try to hide their true selves - or true appetites - when on a date.”
Waters came out first, and Kai took a long sip of water, letting the sounds around them soak in. After a few moments of just listening, he spoke up again. “So, Miss Dominique Weasley. Being out of school and all, what is it you’re looking to do with life?” he asked. Perhaps it was a bit of a blunt question, but she had avoided his offer to talk to his scouts about her potentially joining a professional Quidditch team, so he was curious to know what her plans were. @dominique

Dom smiled at his words, definitely pleased that he didn't find her appetite disgusting or anything. It wouldn't change anything if he did, but it was nice to be spending time with someone who she could be herself with. She smirked when he ordered the same thing and then added some other food. The milkshake did sound good, but she'd stick with what she had for now. "Oh, I can definitely hold my own," she promised. He seemed impressed, and just a moment later told her that it was meant as a compliment. "Well, I am what you see," she said with a shrug of her shoulders. No point lying to the guy.
Dom wasn't particularly in a chatty mood, which wasn't entirely uncommon when she was so hungry. Still, she got more distracted than she expected and was surprised when he spoke a few minutes later. She looked to him, smiling mischievously. "I have no idea what I'm doing with my life," she answered without hesitation. It wasn't really a secret, and while she wished she did have a plan, she wasn't about to lie to him about anything. That wouldn't make for a good first date.

Finn nodded with a grin. He definitely liked this Dominique girl; she was real and bold, unafraid to be herself. He appreciated that. There were too many people in the world trying to be something they weren’t, and sometimes it could be incredibly frustrating to have a conversation with a person who was just trying to say what they thought he wanted to hear. “I appreciate that,” he told her, completely honest and straightforward. The milkshake arrived with two straws, which Finn was glad for. He had noticed a slight glimmer in Dominique’s eyes when he had ordered it, so he was fully willing to share if she so desired. “I suppose it wouldn’t be a proper date without sharing a milkshake,” he told her with a chuckle. He was pretty sure that custom was from the States in the 1950s, but he felt it may be time to bring it back. Before Finn could answer Dominiques refreshingly honest answer, the appetizer platter came out and he groaned in anticipation. “Bloody hell does that look good,” he said. Perhaps to some the food in front of them would look like a heart attack in the making, but Finn was in good health and it was just all so delicious. He plucked up a mozzarella stick, dunked it in marinara sauce and chomped down on it, taking his time before replying. “Good on you,” he said after swallowing. He smiled sincerely at her. “Take your time, and don’t let people try to talk you into something you’re not wholly passionate about. Then before you know it you’ll be a miserable person working a job she hates, and I just can’t let you do that.” He laughed a little before adding. “Of course if you wish to join the ranks of the elite and go pro, you know you can contact me.” He winked and popped the rest of his mozzarella stick into his mouth. So damn good. @dominique

Dom nodded, glad when he said that he appreciated her honestly. That was good. There were some people in the world who seemed to want people that weren't what they seemed. Either that, or they just wanted to have fun and didn't care to get to know the people they spent their time with. Dom wasn't like that at all. She did and said exactly what she wanted, whether or not the people she was with liked it. Before she could say anything in response, the milkshake came and she was drawn to the two straws. Ooooh, these people were good. Now the only question was whether or not he'd be okay sharing the thing. Dom grinned when he basically said it wouldn't be a real date if they didn't share the milkshake. "I agree with that," Dom answered immediately, leaning in to try some. She closed her eyes and sighed. It was so good. Then again, anything sweet was good. Dom had a definitely sweet tooth. "Oh, getting that was a really good idea," she told Kai with a smile.
She laughed when he said that the appetizer looked good and nodded her head. Food always looked good. She took a mozzarella stick as well, biting it plain. She'd try the sauce in a minute. She was surprised when he seemed to like the fact that she hadn't decided what she wanted to do with her life yet. Not many people were very encouraging of those who were unemployed. Wow, that dating service did a good job matching these two. She loved how he wasn't judging her. She nodded fervently, "Exactly. I don't want to get stuck with something I don't like, or waste my time when I could be doing something else." She paused when he mentioned Quidditch, the familiar pang hitting her in the chest. She'd actually been planning on that, when Ethan was alive. Now she just didn't know. Still, he didn't need to know her issues. She smiled and looked at him thoughtfully. "I actually was always planning on that," she admitted honestly. "Until about a year ago, when I realized I don't know what I want. I don't want to ruin the game though." Ruin it for herself. She didn't want to get on a team and end up hating being a professional player. She liked Quidditch too much for that. "Maybe I could join a practice or just mess around with you sometime," she suggested with a curious smile. Were pro players allowed to mess around on brooms? Or would that get him into trouble?

Finn polished off the mozzarella stick easily and dug into a bit of the queso dip with the tortilla chips they had provided. “I firmly believe in not wasting time, whether it be yours or anyone else's. It’s not worth the trouble living with that type of regret,” he reasoned, shrugging before shoving the chip in his mouth. He took another sip of the milkshake, briefly wondering if people saw what he was eating and wondering if he’d drop dead from a heart attack, but he really didn’t care. Finn ate healthy six of the seven days in the week, and practiced harder than most people. He’d even go to Muggle Crossfit once a week to get a total body workout, just to keep in top form. So with gusto, Finn continued to eat the deliciousness that was set in front of them. Finn couldn’t help but notice the slight change in Dominique’s demeanor when she admitted she had been planning on pursuing a professional Quidditch career, but then decided it wasn’t what she wanted. He wondered what had happened to make her change her mind, unless...no that would be too much of a coincidence. He hadn’t known the boy who had been killed almost two years ago; he had been younger than Finn and in Ravenclaw, but he had been a fellow Hogwarts student. Dominique had mentioned she was in Ravenclaw, they’d have been about the same age. Something stopped Finn from asking about it though; if she wanted to talk about it she would. There was no sense in pressuring her to open up, at least not on a first date. “You should, it is allowed but after practice is ‘officially’ over,” Finn told her, putting up quotation marks when he said officially. He’d taken Rai on plenty of rides around the pitch after practice finished, and he was sure the other players stayed after sometimes as well. “I’d like to see if you’re as good as you think you are, anyway,” he added with a sly smirk, bringing back the flirty playfulness from before. @dominique

Dom nodded, grinning when she realized that Kai was expressing her opinions, but for himself. It was nice to run into someone that was on the same wavelength as her, especially when that person was her blind date. That made it so much easier to have an entertaining evening. She nodded firmly. "I don't like any type of regret, if we're going for total honesty." The fact that she didn't like regret didn't mean she didn't have any. She had lots, especially when it came to Ethan, but she still hated them. She took another sip of the milkshake, smiling again at how good it was. She should have more of these. They made life happier.
He seemed to hesitate for a moment before answering her question, but seemed cheerful enough still, which was a good thing. Dom knew she sometimes had mood swings and such, but she really wanted to just be able to enjoy this date. That was part of the reason why she signed up for a blind date in the first place. She wanted to go out with someone she could have fun with. She smiled when he told her that she should come, once practice was over. She could do that. It would be fun! Besides that, she did miss flying. She shook her head and narrowed her eyes when he mentioned wanting to see how good she was. "As good as I think I am?" Dom echoed back, giving him a look and then smirking. "I'm going to do my best to make sure you regret that little comment, mister." Ehh, who knew if she'd be able to deliver, but Dom didn't back down. It just wasn't a part of who she was and he was teasing her about one of the things she knew she was good at. Sure, he was a professional, but Dom was confident she could be among those ranks if she wanted to be. She just ... didn't. Not right now, anyway.

Finn nodded with a small smile. “Nobody likes regret, I don’t think. Just happens to befall us sometimes,” he said. He didn’t have anything in his life he truly regretted, though he did have some small regrets. Not resisting the urge to beat a Bludger towards that cowardly Chaser who got away with Cobbing last year, for one. He could tell from the look in Dominique’s eyes that she had seen some regret in her life, but didn’t push her on it. This was their first date after all, and he didn’t want to seem pushy. Especially not since he was keen on having a second date, whether as friends or something more. Dominique was an intriguing woman with a fiery personality to match his own; definitely someone to keep around at the very least. Popping some more food into his mouth, Finn had to swallow quickly before laughing at the Ravenclaws’ narrowed eyes at his challenge. “I certainly hope you will,” he said with a smirk, before leaning in to take another sip of the milkshake. “I told you two straws were a good plan with this,” he added, nodding at the half finished shake in front of them. Their main courses came out then, and Finn enjoyed the meal in the silence that was broken just by the soft sounds of chewing. When he finally came up for air, he took a sip of water to clear his pallette. “So Miss Weasley, who was your Quidditch team growing up?” he asked curiously. Finn had always been an Arrows fan, so it had been a dream to be recruited by them. As long as she wasn’t a damn Wasps fan, any team would be fine in his books. @dominique

Dom nodded at his words about regret. He was right. No one wanted to regret their actions, but most people found some reason or another to regret during their lives. Ethan. She shook her head, pulling herself back to this conversation. She was appreciating everything Kai was doing. He was giving her good conversation, food and fun and he didn't deserve anything but her full attention. Dom could do that. She'd think of Ethan later, since there was hardly a way for her to avoid it. Besides, this guy was proving to be much more fun than she expected from a blind date. She wanted to make a good impression for sure.
Her competitive side was coming out and, for the first time in a long time, Dom wasn't going to try and hide it. If this guy was going to call her out like that, she was definitely going to do her best to give him a run for his money. She chuckled, "Be careful what you wish for," she warned with a wink. Then she laughed at his comment about the milkshake. "Definitely a good plan," she agreed, leaning in to get some more. This food was delightful and their main meals hadn't even come yet! Oooh, speak of the devil ... well, think of it. Their food was here! She couldn't help it, as soon as her food was placed in front of her, Dom dug in. She couldn't help it! She was so hungry! When he started talking again, she looked up curiously and laughed, wiping off her mouth with a napkin just in case. She didn't think she was eating too messily today ... hoped not. She didn't want to scare him away. She lifted an eyebrow when he asked about her Quidditch team. "I don't know if I can tell you that right now," she teased, unable to help herself. "I don't want to give the wrong answer and lose my date earlier than I have to." She didn't think he'd leave, even if he didn't like her answer, but Dom couldn't help herself when it came to teasing. She wasn't going to tell him that so easily.

Finn laughed buoyantly. “I’m never too careful, takes the fun out of life in my humble opinion,” he told her, winking cheekily. He enjoyed this witty, dare he even say flirtatious banter between the two of them. Finn was a natural flirt, as his cousin loved to point out every chance she could, but it seemed that Dominique was being quite receptive to his flirtations. Finn was, by no means ready to settle down with one person, but he could definitely see a second, not so blind date in their future, providing nothing too drastic happened between now and the end of the date. Finn saw Dom’s eyes light up as the main food came, smiling appreciatively as she dug into the meal unceremoniously . “I’ve said this once but I’ll gladly say it again; nothing to me is more appealing than a woman who appreciates food and isn’t afraid to show it,” he said, inclining his head towards her as a sign of respect before tucking into his own plate with the same amount of gusto. Too soon, the plates were empty of the food that had once laid thickly on top of them and Finn sat back, patting his stomach appreciatively. “I must say, I didn’t know what to expect with roller rink food, but they did a pretty good job,” he told her, suppressing a belch with his palm. “Perhaps they recognized greatness in us, and pulled out all the stops,” he added teasingly, grinning widely. “Aw, come on Dom! I promise I won’t leave,” he wheedled, trying to get her to tell him her favorite team. “Growing up I was all about Puddlemere United myself; though I have never deigned to tell the captain of the Arrows,” he admitted with a chortle. “See? You can tell me,” he added, raising an eyebrow expectantly. @dominique

Dom couldn't help but laugh at Kai's response. It was so nice to be around someone who liked to laugh and joke around like she did. "Well, if you won't be careful you might want to prepare yourself, because I'm not really all that careful either." She tapped her chin a moment, pretending to think, "Though since you are a famous Quidditch star, I'm not quite sure how humble your opinion actually is." She smirked, unable to help herself. Dom was a major tease and she was having far too much fun on this date. It almost made her forget all about ... nope. She wasn't about to let herself go there.
Kai was obviously just as hungry as Dom was. The good thing about this was that neither had to feel awkward while the other chowed down on their food. Both of them could enjoy their meal without really worrying about talking while they ate. It was nice, and not quite something she was used to. He really was different from most of the people she knew, which wasn't a bad thing. She nodded, "Agreed. I might have to come here sometime again, just to appreciate the food." Which meant Dom would definitely be roller blading again. What? It was fun and this was definitely the type of place where she could have a lot of fun. She laughed, "Well then they're definitely right. I don't know about you, but I'm quite fabulous." Dom winked, unable to help herself. She made a face as he teased her, telling her about his team growing up. She wrinkled her nose. "I've always been a fan of the Arrows," she admitted after a moment. Then she stuck up a finger, "Don't let that give you a big head though!" In all honesty, when she'd considered trying for professional Quidditch, she'd hoped she could join the arrows too.

Finn laughed loudly; of course Dominique was right, his opinion was not exactly humble. “Well, I stand corrected. In my NOT so humble opinion,” he relented, smiling widely. He was amazed that Blishwick was able to actually set him up with someone that matched his relatively high standards. He and Rai would usually go out together, dressed to the nines, with every intention of being each others wing man. However, it frequently ended up being the two of them ending the night with beers at their local dive bar, decidedly unattached. Finn didn’t used to think he had high standards, until they started going out and he would find fault with every person Rai would try to set him up with. It was a tribulation he had to deal with; fortunately Dominique was nothing like those other girls. She was a wonderfully refreshing breath of fresh air, something Finn hadn’t even known he needed until tonight. “You can call me Finn by the way.” The words tumbled out of Finn’s mouth before he realized it. Kai was the name he had decided to go with professionally; his teammates all called him that, and it was the name he gave any hookups he met at bars, mostly because it was a name they tended to recognize. “I mean, my friends all call me Finn, and I prefer it over Kai. At least, in a more casual setting,” he explained. “Not that this is necessarily casual, of course. But….more familiar, if that makes sense.” Merlin, Rai would be laughing hysterically over the way Finn was acting right now. He was relieved though, when Dominique finally responded that she had been an arrows fan her whole life . “Well, when you finally decide you’re ready for the Big Leagues, I’m sure we’ll find a spot for you,” he said teasingly. If she was anything like her family, she would have excelled at Quidditch, and could easily make the leap to professional. @dominique

Dom nodded when Finn admitted that his opinion wasn't humble. "There you go," Dom teased. "Way to admit your faults. I ... will not be admitting mine unless you make me. Just a warning." She grinned. It was interesting how easy this was to converse with him. It was almost like they'd known one another a long time, even though Dom was fairly sure they'd never really talked with one another before. If they did at school, it didn't count because neither of them remembered it.
Her head quirked to the side a little when he told her to call him Finn and she lifted an eyebrow. "Oh? I thought you were Kai," she teased. Then he started to explain that his friends called him Finn. Dom's smiled a little more, "You're making sense ... I think." No, Dom couldn't help herself. It was so easy to tease him and he took it so well. "So ... we're friends then?" She liked the idea of having another friend, one who liked Quidditch as much as she did. Sure, he was professional and she wasn't, but Dom was convinced that she liked the game more than some professional players. She laughed, "Oh I'm ready for the Big Leagues, they're just not ready for me. And aren't you all full on players anyway?"

Finn felt his cheeks turn warm at Dominique’s teasing tone. “We’re definitely friends. We’re both outgoing, love Quidditch and are incredibly good looking. It would be a crime against humanity if we weren’t!” he exclaimed, casually throwing in the compliment. He didn’t take Dominique as a woman who wanted to be known just for her looks, but he’d have to be blind to not notice how her red hair complimented her fair skin tone so nicely. Perhaps Blishwick did actually know his stuff. “Well….” Finn hesitated when Dominique asked if they were full on players currently. To the public, they were, but the season had not yet begun. Trades were still happening; they had acquired a Greek Seeker from Puddlemere just a few days ago, and rumor had it that his fellow Arrow beater was contemplating retirement to spare his wife the anxiety of another concussion. “We might be looking to recruit a player or two,” he said finally, being purposely vague. In all fairness, every professional team was always scouting for good talent as a cardinal rule, so if anything somehow leaked to the Daily Prophet it couldn’t be his fault. “If you’re interested in at least meeting the coach, I could always arrange that,” he added casually. Sure, he and the coach of the Arrows had had their arguments, mostly about his rivalry with the Chaser from the Wasps, but overall their relationship was very solid. Plus, a casual meeting wasn’t a contract signing of any sort; Dominique could meet with him, no strings attached. “No pressure though of course,” he added quickly. @dominique
