She restated the name of her house, saying it was for the hardworking, loyal ... and something else, kind of people. Jace nodded, trying to remember that. Okay, no he was just trying to remember the name of the house and one quality. Hard-working? Sure! He could remember that much, he figured. Jace chuckled when the girl rolled her eyes, kind of proud of himself for getting her to think that he was sincere to start with. It was fun to tease Sari and he was definitely enjoying this encounter.
His eyebrows furrowed when she confirmed that a hat made that decision. "That sounds ridiculous," he muttered immediately. Why give an inanimate object the ability to choose something you should be able to choose for yourself? Yeah, he definitely thought that this was much better the way it was done at Ilvermorny, even though he hadn't seen this hat in action yet. Then she started explaining. Jace's head tilted to the side a little, pursing his lips as he considered her words. "Okay ... maybe it's not so ridiculous. I will wait until I see what happens and then decide what I think about a hat making my choice for me," he announced decisively.
Sari started looking around the room and Jace followed suit, though he didn't really know what he was looking for. Then she started talking about and he grinned. "Sounds good to me! I don't want to have to hang out here for hours, that'd be completely boring." He started to follow her as she moved, then snorted a little. "You'll try? Is it hard to remember where your favorite place is?" Jace's tone was blunt, along with his words. This girl was interesting ... yeah, it would definitely be interesting, this tour. He followed her out of the room, pretending he was doing exactly what he was supposed to. People had a tendency to ignore those who behaved casually about what they were doing. He learned that a while ago.

Shaking her head lightly, the blonde looked up at Jace, a small smile just twitching the corners of her lips. ”You were messing with me…Weren’t you?” She questioned, her small index finger pointing up at him while her eyes narrowed – attempting to be somewhat intimidating and angry towards him. But the fit of laughs that passed her lips couldn’t control and set the mood any further, ruining her future chances at seriousness alongside the Ilvermorny boy.
With a shrug, Sari let her mind wander a bit. Why did Hogwarts exactly allow a hat to function all of their school choices, set their futures into place for them? ”I know.” She snorted, picking up on the mutter. ”Exactly that!” She responded, clapping her hand lightly on his back. ”There’s nothing to fear, except if you know the houses you dislike because of rumours, like most students here anyway.” With a pause, the Fawley pursed her lips. ”Something you wouldn’t do since you don’t know the Houses.” She knew other Wizarding schools had different ways of sorting their students and Sari was just a tad bit curious to what Ilvermorny’s version was like. But she didn’t ask.
Walking so she directed the young boy, Sari came to a stop, her eyes narrowed as she looked back at him over her shoulder. ”There’s more than one place you dork.” She stated, turning so she continued on. ”Hence the confusion.” She added with a mumble. Now away from the large entrance of the Main Hall – away from the oversized double doors, the blonde stuffed her hands into the pockets of her robes, turning to her side so she walked side-by-side with Jace. ”First is where I used to go when I wanted to be alone. Or where some students just hang out at.”

Sari looked up at him, her expression a little more serious than before as she pointed to him, asking whether or not he was messing with her. Jace shrugged, unable to keep the grin from slipping across his face. "Yeah, I was," he admitted shamelessly. "If it's any consolation, you at least realized it eventually. There are lots of people that never do and think that I'm always serious." The girl was laughing by now and he was glad that he hadn't really upset her. He wanted to make friends at this school and figuring that upsetting someone would not help him accomplish that.
He hadn't meant for her to hear him say that it sounded ridiculous! At first Jace was taken aback by the fact that she heard him, worried that maybe he'd offended her, but that didn't last long. She snorted, telling him that there was nothing to fear, except perhaps getting into a house that he'd heard bad rumors of anyway. He shrugged, nodding when she added that it wouldn't be an issue to him since he didn't know the houses. Yup, she took those words right out of his mouth then. "I guess I'm good then," he agreed easily. It sounded like there wasn't anything to really worry about when it came to the sorting. That was definitely a good thing.
He grinned when she chided him, telling him she had more than one favorite place. "Ohhh! I was thinking you'd forgotten your way around the castle over the summer," Jace said, only partly teasing. He waited patiently beside her, waiting for her to decide where she wanted to take him. He nodded as she explained that the first place was somewhere she went when she wanted to be alone. "Okay, that sounds like a good place to know of," Jace answered with a nod of his head. Knowing a good place to meet people or be alone was definitely something he wanted to do.

The blonde couldn’t help but match the grin Jace had on his face on her own lips once he revealed he was in fact – messing with her. ”Sarcasm and all is usually my weakness…But looks like I’m getting better.” Most things passed over the Fawley’s head and she was known for her terrible habits to overthink every little situation. But with age and understanding; she tried to do less of it.
”You’ll be perfectly fineeee.” She agreed with a nod, dragging out the last syllable of the word. Though out of sheer curiosity while the two walked, Sari somewhat leading the way. But with Jace’s next comment, she couldn’t help but snort once more. ”Mildly offensive” The blonde commented, a hand pushing through her curls. ”But no, I know this place like the back of my hand.” Which was quite true, considering most times spent outside class in her first year was used to make friends and explore the castle grounds. She knew almost anywhere and everywhere to know. Lost? Sari is your gal.
”Only bad thing about it is, it’s quite open – so if you’re out of place, it’s quite easy to tell.” Clearly, Sari was talking in regards to the Courtyard – large enough for most students to socialise and others to keep to themselves. On bad days, Sari would try find herself an empty spot while most students had classes and others she relaxed alongside her friends. As she passed through the hallway that led to the Courtyard, she turned on her heel to face Jace, walking backwards momentarily. ”Surely you had one back in Ilvermorny. A courtyard.”

Jace laughed when Sari admitted that sarcasm was a weakness of hers. "Maybe I'll be able to help you with that," he teased. Jace came from a very sarcastic family. At least, his father was sarcastic. Not in a bad way, mostly a humorous one and Jace had already started to develop a similar humor as his father. He chuckled a little, "It's generally safe to assume that I'm teasing, but if you are ever unsure, let me know and I'll let you in on the secret." He'd try at least.
She said he'd be fine and Jace decided not to argue the fact, mostly because he was already sure of that. Jace did pretty well, no matter what situation he was in. He didn't expect that going to school at Hogwarts would be any different, other than the fact that it was a new place and all that. He'd figure things out. He nodded, grinning when she argued that she knew the school very well. "Good. I want to know the place like that," Jace answered, hinting that he'd like her to help him know it. Since she was already showing him around it was kind of like she'd already agreed to help him though. He was glad of that.
Sari told him about the courtyard, saying that it was bad that it was so open. Jace wasn't entirely sure why that would be a bad thing, but he was also too busy looking at the place as they walked through to argue with her. She did know it better than him, so he was also sure that she knew what she was talking about. He shrugged, "Yeah, I tended to spend most of my time out on the grounds though. Our school wasn't as interesting as this castle." At least, it hadn't been that interesting to him.

Laughing, the blonde threw her head back a little, looking up at him with a wide grin. ”I would very much appreciate it.” Sari didn’t really listen to the sarcastic comments between her siblings, avoiding their own conflict – or even the conflict she created from her own mischievous actions – and instead preferred to bring in random smiles and dumb laughs. She just loved being the light of the Fawley’s even though she truly wasn’t. ”I will.” She responded, almost tempted to use her own rubbish sarcasm to respond but instead appreciated the offer/gesture. ”Just like if you’re ever struggling with finding pretty girls or classes, let me know and I’ll be there.”
While Sari didn’t know Jace rather well, from her own observations – he didn’t seem to be the kind of person that would do…too bad in Hogwarts. He definitely wasn’t afraid to speak his mind like most people were – considering he was teasing her already – but that would be a good thing for when he needed help. ”I’m guessing you’ll be here in Hogwarts for at least…A year…Depending on the condition of Ilvermorny when they next assess it” she paused, trying to lighten the situation with a small smile. ”Give yourself at least three months. You’ll know of every nook and cranny and remember every secretive place by then.” Three months was ambitious for most people, but with Sari’s help she knew he’d get it almost instantly.
With a laugh, the blonde pushed her curls back. ”It’s not too interesting when all you see are the main areas. The secret places or the forbidden places are the best sights.” The restricted section in the library, the whomping willow, or even the forbidden forest. And with enough time, Sari hoped to introduce all of them to Jace. Passing by the courtyard, her intentions was to get the two of them onto the Hogwarts grounds without necessarily being caught by a Prefect or even a Professor. She wanted to take the younger male to the Black Lake to begin with and so she turned. ”Black Lake first. Aka the place I go to be alone.”
It was usually occupied on most sunny days, but students were still forbidden to swim in it because of the dangers it brought. Not that it mattered to most people anyway.

Jace liked this girl. She was easy to talk to and didn't seem to mind teasing herself for a joke, which was a trait he definitely shared with her. He nodded and winked when she admitted that she'd appreciate his help. "Consider it done." Then she was saying that if he ever needed help with finding pretty girls or classes and Jace grinned. "Oh, that is a very useful promise. I'll probably take you up on that," Jace agreed without hesitation.
He nodded when she said that she thought he'd be here for at least a year, "Yeah, my dad said it would be at least one year." He wrinkled his nose, thinking about how that didn't give him a lot of time to know the place, but then Sari said that he'd be able to get it in three months and his expression cleared. "Oh yeah? You're that good of a teacher then? You don't even know what kind of student I am ..." Jace trailed off, teasing her. He was excited that she thought she could teach him the place that quickly. Then if he only did get one year here, at least it would be a good one.
Sari started to explain how the main areas weren't interesting at all, but that it was the secret and forbidden places she liked. There were secret and forbidden places here? Would he have to go back to Ilvermorny next year if they did get it fixed up quickly? Couldn't he just choose to stay here? It definitely sounded like much more fun. She mentioned the Black Lake and Jace nodded. "Black Lake, got it." He followed her, taking in all the sights as they walked. This place was huge on the inside and it seemed to be even larger on the outside. Jace had his work cut out for him, but he was excited about it. "Is it really black or is there a reason they call it that?" he asked curiously. They might as well talk as they walked.

Sari was sure none of her friends had made her laugh as hard as Jace had her. And she had only known the younger Ilvermorny transfer for a literal hour or two. And now with his help as a human sized sarcasm detector, the blonde was sure everything she needed in life was complete. With a giggle, she nodded in his direction - ”You better! I don’t offer my help to everyone or anyone.” She joked, nudging his side.
Mimicking his exact expression, the Fawley’s nose wrinkled while her brows furrowed. While she was indeed a narcissistic social butterfly, she heard most Americans were usually harsh, filled with more blunt words unlike other British folks. But regardless, Sari had the intention to somewhat befriend as much transfers as she could. ”Hopefully it’ll be a year filled with greatness!” She grinned, appearing to be rather optimistic. Classic Sari. With a scoff, Sari peered over at the taller boy. ”Are you doubting my skills? I’ll let you know I’m the best teacher in all-things-socially-related here.” Given the fact she hadn’t really taught anyone apart from…Well…Herself.
”Black Lake sounds cooler than its name.” She clarified, waving her hand in front of her. ”It’s not actually black but it’s known to have the weirdest and creepiest creatures inside of it.” She explained with a shrug. ”Hence why you never see anyone actually swim in it. Maybe a brave dip of the toe but most people just sit around it.”

Jace grinned as she told him that he'd better take advantage of her offer. He was glad that he'd found such a willing friend so quickly. If all Brits were like this girl, then this year was definitely going to be fun. She nudged his side and Jace let out a chuckle. "I will, promise!" he said, pretending like he felt pushed into promising. He honestly didn't mind. Sari was fun and he fully expected to learn a ton about the castle from her, which would be great.
Sari said that she hoped the year would be "filled with greatness" and Jace was inclined to agree. "You're not the only one," he answered cheerfully. His goal for the year was to make it his best one yet. The only thing that made him doubt it a little bit was not knowing how hard the work load would be ... but Jace would make time for his work around his fun. It had always fit in before. Now shouldn't be any different. He shrugged when she asked if he doubted her skills, "I mean, I don't doubt you ... but I'm definitely excited to see what you have to offer." Mostly, he was excited to learn as much as he could from her. He nodded, "Okay, but don't get annoyed if I follow you around then. I prefer to learn from the best, you know?" Jace smirked.
He listened intently as she explained about the Black Lake. The place definitely sounded interesting, in the least. Jace nodded as she explained that it wasn't black, but that no one went swimming because of all the creatures. His eyebrows furrowed. "Seriously? No one swims in it at all? Not even in the shallow areas?" Were they just cowards or was it really that scary? Her saying that no one swam in the lake actually made Jace want to try ... would he get into trouble if he did? Or was it just an at-your-own-peril kind of thing?

While Sari Fawley was usually seen as the social butterfly amongst others, she wasn’t particularly the best at helping them. But with her help thrown at Jace, she knew she would do anything and everything for him if he simply asked. The young boy reminded Sari of her younger and only brother in some format, except he liked to talk more than her younger brother ever did. With a teasing narrowing eye and a raise of her brow, the blonde couldn’t help but break into a fit of laughs afterwards. ”You seem to be so scared. As if you’re being pressured into this.” She giggled. ”No but with every inch of honesty. I’m here for anything Jace. Anything and everything!” She added.
The Fawley couldn’t help but not hide her smile around Jace. He seemed to be rather confident with anything that left his mouth, at least from what the blonde seemed to observe from. ”Well, Mr Hunter…You can trust me when I say…There’s lots in store for the both of us. I, a newly Sixth Year will face…NEWT classes…” The blonde sighed, tempted to even face palm herself. ”But! You don’t have to worry about that until next year!” She added with a breathless laugh for reassurance. ”I could never get annoyed having followers of my own. Then I’ll truly be able to start my cult.” She teased, rubbing her hands together as if she had an evil plan made.
Sari shook her head. ”Yup. No one swims in it at all. Unless you’re a first year or it’s the Triwizard Tournament is the only time you’ll actually be around it.” Sari remembered her first year, sailing across the water when a boy stuck his hand out for a few mere seconds, only for his finger to almost be bitten off if it wasn’t held as high as it was. ”It’s cold, filled with the strangest creatures and apparently a giant squid too.” She shrugged lightly before turning her head back to the situation at hand. ”Okay let’s go-go-go!” She whisper-yelled, pushing at Jace’s side for the two of them to keep walking across the fields, in the direction of the Lake itself.

She seemed to catch a little bit of the pressure he was feeling. Jace couldn't help but grin wryly when she started laughing and then teasing him about it. He shrugged, "Well I don't mind asking for help ... just don't want to be a bother." That was only part of the reason he didn't like being pressured into things like this, but Sari actually did seem like she truly wanted to help him. She insisted that she was being honest and that she was happy to be there for anything and everything he needed. He felt his confidence return as he smiled back at her. "Okay, just remember you offered!" he teased back. If she got overwhelmed by him coming to her at any time, she could tell him and he'd leave her alone for a bit. She didn't seem to mind the idea of helping him though.
He grimaced when she mentioned that this year she was taking NEWT classes. What exactly was special about those? He figured it was a special class they took here, but did everyone have to take them, or just the older students? "What are NEWT classes?" he asked, tilting his head to the side a little. She'd mentioned that he wouldn't have to worry about it until next year and Jace held back the retort that he wouldn't have to worry about it if they fixed Ilvermorny before then. He didn't want them to fix his school that quickly. He laughed when she mentioned starting her own cult. "Oh, so that's what I am to you? A potential cult member?" he shot back, teasing but still curious at the same time. Did she befriend everyone like she was him?
Sari confirmed that no one swam in the Black Lake and Jace couldn't help the disappointed look that covered his face. He'd love to swim in something like that. Not only would it be cool to see all the creatures that she said were inside, but it would be something he could brag about to others, potentially. Maybe he'd find a way to swim in it, even though she didn't suggest it ... maybe when he got sorted into a house, the people he was with could give him suggestions. Obviously Sari didn't think it was a good idea. That likely would stop him. She started pushing his side, trying to get him to go faster. Jace moved faster, laughing. "Okay, I'm going, I'm going! Are we still headed to the Lake or are you taking me somewhere else?" he asked curiously.

The blonde shook her head lightly, her smile only growing upon her lips. ”I’d tell you if you’re being a bother.” She retorted, teasingly rolling her eyes. With a giggle, she slowly nodded at his teases. It felt natural to do so, a tease that would remind her of how her sisters would treat her and ultimately pinch her cheeks. ”I won’t forgeeeeet!” She sang, turning so she paid attention to the direction she walked in.
Looking back at him, she noticed the change in his expression, her eyes widening in concern. It wasn’t until Sari heard the question and her own expression softened, her lips parting as she tried to find her words. ”They’re really nothing to worry about just yet. In Sixth year you just select the subjects you’d like to study, study a small portion of it and take the actual exam in Seventh!” She then paused, her hand clapping lightly against his shoulder. ”You’ll be fine. Even if you return to Ilvermorny by then, I’m sure they’ll have something similar.” She beamed, trying to reassure him. ”Oh most definitely.” She nodded, pretending to act serious. ”I need as many Sari-nators as I can find!” Bring socially active, Sari truly just wanted to make as many friends as she could so.
The Black Lake was a place that visually, the blonde enjoyed overseeing. But knowing what lied within, she refused to even dip a toe in for more than five seconds. ”To the Lake first!” She whisper yelled, breathing a sigh of relief once the two were in the clear. Blonde hair flew over her shoulders once the wind hit the two of them, a warming smile forming on her lips. ”It’s amazing to sit around and watch the sunset or just relax in general…You’ll see.” She grinned, facing forward while her feet crunched on the grass. ”Okay so…Lake first…Then maybe the Forbidden Forest, Whomping Willow…Only for brief stops…” She muttered, her hands playing with her fingers as she listed the locations to herself. ”I’m sure no one will notice your disappearance back there.”

Jace nodded, glad when Sari said that she would tell him if he annoyed her. That was good to know. Jace was aware of the fact that he had a pretty strong, energetic personality and that not everyone was up to doing things with him or dealing with his energy all the time. Most of the time he didn't worry about it, but when he was trying to make new friends ... he didn't want to chase them away. She promised she wouldn't forget and Jace laughed, feeling like he didn't really need to say anything else to that.
Sari explained that NEWTS weren't something he needed to worry about yet, explaining what they were. He listened carefully, but found himself nodding again and smiling by the end. Okay, so they were the classes that you took in your later years of school. Classes that you wanted to learn about in even more detail. He was sure they did something similar at Ilvermorny, but he didn't remember what it was called. Honestly, he hadn't needed to pay attention to it before, so he didn't. "Yeah, that sounds fine. Just a different kind of classes," he agreed, feeling comfortable again and laughing at her joke before shaking his head, "Oooh, I don't know if I want everyone to know me as a Sari-nator ... that might ruin my street cred," he told her with a wink. He was having fun with this comfortable back and forth with her.
The pair moved closer to the lake and Jace watched it closer. He liked how big it was, how it seemed to go on for miles, though he was sure it probably didn't. "That sounds awesome," he told Sari as she explained what she liked to do at the Lake. It sounded like fun. Maybe a good place to study or something. His eyes widened as she explained other places she could take them. "That all sounds awesome!" Then she brought back where he should be and Jace grimaced. "Naaaah, no one will notice." Okay, so maybe some of his friends would notice, if they looked for him. They were probably too busy catching up. If Brooke were here, she'd notice, but she wasn't so he didn't need to worry about that. "Let's go to all those places, quick stops," he encouraged.

Sari Fawley was usually direct about most things, except for her feelings around certain people or certain topics. Mainly topics. To others, they knew she wasn’t afraid to speak what was on her mind but she hadn’t exactly found that friend to confide in with her problems with her…love life. But above all, Sari was pretty nice. Or so she would call herself. ”Do you need me to pinky swear it?” She asked as he nodded, teasingly. Even though the Hunter boy was a lot taller than her, considering he was just a year younger, she could definitely ‘protect’ him the same way she protects her own younger brother.
NEWTs were ultimately going to be the death of the blonde, but considering the real stress didn't begin until her Seventh year, Sari knew she didn't really have too many things to worry about. She envied the younger boy, Jace didn't necessarily need to worry about anything for pretty much two years. How she wished to be 'young' again. "More so tests and exams over classes." She corrected. As he laughed at her joke, and winked alongside it, she couldn't help but stop the grin forming on her lips. It was probably for the best that he wasn't a Sari-nator, considering there weren't many of them to go around. "Your loss.", she shrugged - grin disappearing to feign seriousness. "There's not a lot of us. Some say we're a dying breed." Some being her family members that refuse to put up with the blondes nonsense.
Blue eyes watched the excitement on Jace's face, especially when she offered to quickly take him to the other places. The Fawley nodded, her hands lifting to make small shoo signs, gesturing him to walk in the opposite direction from where they came. "The Forest isn't too far from here. Then the Whomping Willow isn't too far from there!" It was just convenient as to how close things were in Hogwarts, even though the grounds as a whole were massive. "You know of the demi-human students we have here? Some say most of them hang out in the Forest and are let off easy for it. I wish it were the same for me." Sari had a tendency to put her nose where it wasn't necessary and the forest was one place out of many.

Jace laughed as she asked if he needed a pinky swear. "I mean, if you want to commit that much, then go for it," he encouraged. He was mostly teasing, but he was also curious to see what the British girl would do. He was still trying to figure her out a bit, honestly.
She explained that NEWTs were more the tests than the classes and Jace nodded. Of course, the classes just got tougher to prepare you for the exam. It was natural, though he was excited he had a bit of time to relax before he'd have to worry about all of that. "Got it. Good thing I don't have to worry about that yet," he teased lightly. She started talking a little more about Sari-nators and Jace couldn't help but laugh again. "Well I can definitely cheer for you guys, if that's acceptable," he offered. "Or try to find others to join your group." Yes, Jace was teasing, but he wasn't suggesting anything he'd be against doing. Jace was definitely willing to help Sari however she'd allow him. She seemed really fun and kind.
"Sounds great!" Jace enthused, following her as she started leading him even further. He loved that he'd already found someone willing to take him to interesting places. Jace wasn't one who wanted to waste time when it came to exploring. He nodded when she asked about his knowledge of demi-human students, but didn't say anything. She was busy explaining a little more. "Is it hard to get into the forest?" He asked, a little disappointed. "I'd be willing to join you going inside sometime, if you want," Jace suggested. He'd love any excuse to go into the place.
