Being challenged socially was one thing Sari Fawley was always used to. Especially with the big shots in Hogwarts: Gilderoy Jr, the Potters before they left Lily as the last student and even the scandals amongst the rest of them. Though, being challenged in terms of her dedication or commitment per-se…Was something different in its entirety. ”Gimme your pinky.” She commanded, grin wide on her lips as she stuck out her own. It was natural for her to do so while she drank tea or any beverage. Being the typical posh British girl she was. ”I pinky swear, if you’re bothering me or anything above the annoying average, I’ll inform you in an instant.” She grinned.
Sari nodded in agreement, he was only starting his fifth year in the British wizarding school. He was going to be completely fine. Sari missed her time in Fifth, the core classes being some of her favourites, but she knew she most definitely didn’t miss the stress of studying that led up to the OWL tests. Though, she felt she owed it to Jace not to explain all of that…Just yet. ”Exactly!” She told him, smiling reassuringly. ”I’m telling you, while you’re supporting us from the guidelines, one day you’ll just wanna be us.” His help would be taken with wide arms. In the long run it simply meant more friends for Sari.
With the sun beaming down on them both, Sari felt relieved that Jace was just as energetic as herself. It would have been draining dragging around a tired person. Even if Sari could relate after all morning classes. ”It’s not quite hard. The Forest is around the borders of Hogwarts, its just easy to lose yourself in there. And then you tend to fall curious to everything within it, eventually get freaked out and need help.” She told him. ”So I’d advise not going alone! At least for the first few times you go.” At his next suggestion, Sari felt herself smile small. ”I’d like that.” They were going to be great friends.
As they walked across the field they had come from, with time passing, it wasn’t long until Sari realised the trail had darkened, something that was natural as they headed closer and closer to the entrance the Fawley would always slip through. ”I don’t really wanna head inside of there right now, since I’ll leave it for next time but. Here. The Forbidden Forest.” Her arm raised as she spoke, standing by the entrance where the branches entwined. ”They even say, Black Flowers grow within there. Though I haven’t seen any yet.”

Okay, Jace definitely wasn't expecting it when Sari demanded that he give her his pinky. Jace gave her a strange look as he extended it curiously. What was she up to? She grabbed it with her own, commencing to talk about a pinky swear and Jace fought to keep from laughing. He didn't want to interrupt her and her promise. He nodded once she finished, laughing under his breath, "Okay, I guess I have no choice but to believe you, now that you pinky swore on it," he teased.
His eyebrows furrowed when Sari said that he would want to be one of them someday and he shook his head, "I don't think getting overwhelmed by too much schoolwork is ever going to be something that I really want," he answered honestly. Sari was fun and he was excited to explore with her now, as well as throughout the year hopefully, but that didn't mean he'd envy her workload.
As Sari explained more and more about the Forbidden Forest, Jace listened with wide eyes. The place sounded amazing! He loved to explore new places, especially ones that were interesting and forbidden. Honestly though, why would they ever name a forest that? Didn't they know it made the place seem more enticing? He nodded when she suggested not going alone his first time there, already trying to think of people he knew that would join him, Sari and Jack being at the top of that list, of course. "All right, then you can't back out on it now. I'm already looking forward to excursions into the Forbidden Forest," he placed teasing emphasis on the name, liking the way it sounded.
They arrived at the edge and Sari said that she didn't want to go in right now, but introduced the place to him. Jace smiled, "Yeah, we probably don't have time to go in anyways. Eventually they're gonna start that sorting ceremony thing and I should probably be there for that," he teased. Honestly, he'd much rather be exploring, but apparently finding out which house he would be in was important. "What are Black Flowers?" He asked automatically when she said that some were supposed to be inside the forest.

PINKY SWEARS CONFIRMED all promises. Sari Fawley didn’t make the rules, but she decided the Muggles from the movies she watched as a child — before her father banned them did. Thanks to Muggles and their...adventurous minds, Sari had learned many things. Hence why she saw no importance when it came to showing off your pureblood heritage. ”Thank you.” She grinned, even though she knew he was playing with her. Or somewhat confused. Maybe both. With a snort, Sari rolled her eyes at his answer, crossing her arms as she did so. ”I don’t make the Sari-nators do my work! I can do that myself.” She argued, a finger reaching up to tap at her temple. ”I may be blonde but I’m not all that dumb.”
Like the Forbidden Forest, Hogwarts had many other public and secret areas to it. She could see the excitement in his eyes and that’s when Sari prayed she could take him all over. ”Why would I back out? I’m not scared.” She grinned, knowing she would never back down from a little bit of chaos. Who didn’t love simple fun? Mischief even.
Shoot! The sorting ceremony! The Fawley had completely forgotten. It was moments like now she wished she wore the Muggle accessory, a simple wrist-strap watch just to confirm if the two had enough time for the rest of their tour or not. ”I’d say we have enough time for a few more sights to see, unless you wanna leave them for next time?” She questioned. At his question, all the knowledge she had around the uncommon flowers seemed to leave her mind. ”They’re uh…” The Fawley paused, her nose scrunching up as she trailed off in thought. ”You know. You’ll learn them in class.”

Jace laughed when she was thanking him and then arguing with him again. She was definitely super interesting to talk to. "I never said you were dumb," he told her with a shrug. "I think you're fun and you seem smart, so that's good enough for me." Even if she didn't seem smart, he wouldn't have come out and told her so, but he was actually being honest with Sari.
Sari was definitely the kind of person Jace got along with. She was ready for excitement and challenged him, saying she wasn't scared and wouldn't be backing out of anything. "Sounds fun then. I'm definitely in." He wanted to have fun with her. He could only imagine the kind of trouble they could get into, messing around on the grounds together. Or in the castle.
Jace shook his head at her question. "We can sight-see now. It's much better than waiting in that stuffy room." Jace hated waiting for things. It was much more fun to act and do. He'd rather arrive almost late than be early to anything. He tried not to actually be late when it came to important things though. He cocked his head to the side as she tried to explain about the flowers ... kind of. Then Jace laughed, "Okay. I'll look forward to learning about them then." He wasn't sure when that would happen, maybe he'd just look them up in the library. "So what are our last few destinations before we get back?" he asked excitedly.

WHILE IT WAS true, he hadn’t called her dumb, Sari Fawley shrugged anyway. Most blondes — at least from stereotypes she had read — were perceived as dumb beings, bimbos if it made anything clearer. But thankfully, Sari was truthfully a brunette who just wanted the lighter colour hair. Raising a teasing brow, Sari shook her head. ”Seem smart?” She parroted, her lips curling upwards until she broke, forming a grin. ”That seem part is wrong. I am smart.” Or so she liked to believe. It was most times that her classes proved her statement to be true, especially with the backings of Charms and Potions. But Defence of the Dark Arts and even Transfiguration were simply her downfall.
Being scared was one thing Sari knew not to show in the public view. Unlike other emotions, she had perfected this one out of the lot, providing fake but genuine-looking smiles whenever the feeling of fear arose. And heading into the Forbidden Forest and other warded off areas had provided the support she needed to fake her feelings. ”Great!” She grinned, clapping her hands together before rubbing them as if she were developing evil plans in her mind. She didn’t exactly want to spook him out with the deep discoveries of the Forbidden Forest, but it was where most but fascinating things were found.
The blonde found herself laughing at his response, he was right about one thing. Many areas inside Hogwarts was quite stuffy and absolutely humid. Terrible for her hair. She forced a smile at his own laugh however, making her realise her facade as being a smart blonde was running rather…thin. At his question, Sari’s lips turned upwards in thought before it clicked together — like a light bulb going off in her mind. ”So…Forbidden Forest is done. Whomping Willow is next. Then I’ll see how tired my legs are before we decide another area”

Jace echoed her movements, shrugging when she questioned his word use. "Well, I have only known you for about half an hour. I don't really have any evidence for or against the idea of you being smart. I was just saying what I'd observed so far," he responded right back with a smirk. She was easy to talk to and he appreciated her teasing him instead of getting super offended. "But I'll take your word for it until I witness otherwise." There. Maybe that promise would satisfy her.
Sari definitely seemed like a fun person to be around too. Jace was excited for the promises of spending time with her. It meant that the two of them would definitely get to have a good time. He nodded, smiling along with her at the idea of them exploring the Forbidden Forest together sometime. He nodded when she said they were done with their introduction to the Forbidden Forest and would be moving onto the Whomping Willow. "Sounds great to me! Which way do we go?" Jace asked as he glanced around, almost trying to see the tree, but he figured it wouldn't be super close, since she was talking about her legs getting tired.

WHILE THE TALL boy had a point, Sari Fawley's hands waved in front of her, disregarding the comment. Observations were meaningful for a small first impression but Sari was already guiding him around, talking for England to know the fifth year a little easier. Comfortability should have settled in by now. ”Quiz me on anything and I’ll prove you wrong.” She grinned, staring up at him. From the half-an-hour she had only got to know the American lad, it was safe to say being comfortable around him would be fairly easy. Especially since he was allowing her to run her mouth, fuelling his mind with stupid comments and views on things she found ridiculous. "Though I think the hair colour will still sway you. Blondes tend to be dumber." Or at least that's what stereotypes followed.
At the mention of Whomping Willow and even Jace’s question, Sari looked around, humming to herself quietly as she tried to decide which trail to follow. Pointing once she realised it she looked back at the younger boy. ”If we follow this trail we’ll make it in five or seven minutes. Estimated.” Lifting her other hand to wave at Jace, Sari started to walk in the suggested direction and just as she said, within five minutes or so, the Womping Willow was in view. ”It’s best not to go too…close to it.” She told him, grabbing his arm to slow his pace down. ”While it’s great to peer upon, unless you have a death wish I wouldn’t go…so close to it.”

Jace laughed when Sari insisted that she’d prove him wrong if he quizzed her on anything. “Sorry, I’m all out of quiz questions,” he teased. Honestly, he hadn’t come to school expecting someone to want him to quiz them, so there was no way he’d be prepared for something like that on short notice. Jace did well enough in school, but his grades were definitely not his focus. He much preferred to explore and have fun. “Don’t worry, I’ll come up with some stuff for next time we hang out,” he promised with a smirk. He shrugged when she said that she thought her hair color would still sway him. “Nice to see you think so highly of me,” he teased, though a bit seriously. He liked to think of himself as the kind of person that didn’t judge others based on their appearances. He liked to get to know people.
She said they could make it to the Whomping Willow in five minutes and Jace grinned. He was excited to see the tree that apparently was such a big deal. “Got it,” he said before they started making their way. Then she started talking, explaining that you shouldn’t get close to the tree. His eyebrows furrowed. “Why not? Does it have poison leaves or something?” He’d never heard of a tree like that, but most plants he wasn’t supposed to go near in the wild had some type of poison on their leaves that made it annoying once you touched them. Maybe a magical tree would be worse somehow?

QUIZZES WERE THE LAST THING on Sari Fawley’s mind, especially with the ending results from her fifth year. Though an exam was intense, more detailed than a quiz, the two held some similarities. Many said sixth was supposedly different, a ‘chill period’ was what it was referred to, a time to prepare for her official examinations at the end of her Seventh year to prepare her for the realities of the real world. And above all, Sari was absolutely frightened by it all. Though it had only begun a few days prior, the pressure swam in her mind, while procrastination and such slowly caught up. ”Whoever created quizzes should be hexed.” She said out of the blue, lips curling upwards as she looked back at him. ”Thank god. I don’t think I can answer any quiz questions for another six months.”
She laughed at his promise, her head nodding in a response. ”Hopefully that’s soon, what am I gonna do without ya kiddo?” She teasingly joked, closed fist lightly jabbing at his arm. ”What can I say? Blonde’s just usually wanna have fun. No wonder why most of us are stupid.” At his question about Whomping Willow, the blonde shook her head, lips turning upwards at the thought of the battering branches of the willow. ”Not exactly…” She began, sidestepping so she paid attention to him as well as where they walked. ”Let’s just say...it has a mind of its own." A mind she wouldn't dare messing with if she wanted to live. Her sisters had warned the younger Fawley before her first year of it, noting how it would attack anyone that strayed too close to it. "Pretty sure it almost took someone's eye out." She added, looking back at him with a devilish smile.
With minutes of time passing by, the blonde began to picture the silhouette of the Willow tree and with feet crunching on small twigs, her arm rose to stop Jace in his place. "I think here is fine enough. Any closer and I'd be responsible for some kind of murder." It wasn't the prettiest of things to see but every curious eye had wondered of the Whomping Willow every now and then. She just sped up the process for the Ilvermorny boy.

Jace laughed when Sari commented that whoever created quizzes needed to be hexed. It was a random question, but he appreciated the randomness of it. "I think that was probably a muggle," he said, mostly just to tease her. "I'm going to have to see if I can come up with some in the next few days," Jace added, mostly just to be a punk. He couldn't help it! She shouldn't make it so easy.
He shrugged at her teasing, "I don't know. I can hardly imagine you made it this long without me." Jace smirked. It was fun to tease her. Sari took everything in stride and teased him right back, making the whole thing that much more fun. She said that she just wanted to have more fun because she was a blonde and he chuckled.
Sari hesitated at his question and Jace watched her curiously. Why was she so nervous about a tree? It had a mind of its own? She was definitely giving him more questions than answers, which Jace didn't really appreciate all that much. "It's a tree ... how could it almost take someone's eye out?" Jace asked, feeling like they were finally getting to the point of the matter. There was something about this tree that he didn't know about, something that was obviously clueless about.
He stopped when she told him to, saying that they were close enough. The tree didn't actually look dangerous, but he wasn't going to test the limits. He didn't want to get injured his first night here. That would go over very well with his parents. "Have you ever gotten closer?" Jace asked curiously.

NODDING IN AMUSEMENT, SARI BEGAN to ponder on exactly what Jace would question her on. She would consider things for a tad longer if they hadn’t slowly arrived at their next destination. ”Oh believe me.” She began, feet crunching under a few twigs. ”I’ve survived through many…many things without you.” The grin that grew on her lips was only a teasing one, but truthfully, it was rather true. Their dynamics seemed to be flowing well, especially since the two of them were only newly friends. Sari always saw that was an advantage of hers, to befriend others fairly easily. Sari felt the need to laugh at his observation, but then again, he was American and clearly not used to the differences the UK had to offer.
”It’s not just a tree.” She warned. ”That magical beast there is ruthless. But I’m sure your classes will teach you more about that…” She murmured, not wanting to take all the credit in Jace’s teachings. In fairness though, Sari’s words would probably go over his head, but the stern look from the Professors were surely enough to scare the upcoming fifth year. ”Never.” She responded. The Willow was truly something the blonde feared, even if it did look like a simple tree. It feared no one, and would harm almost anyone even if they had the kindest soul. ”And I recommend you stay far back also. Which leads me onto our next destination. Let’s go!” And with that point, Sari was tugging at the taller boys arm, leading him away from the Willow and down the trail they came from.
”Up for one more or do ya think the Professors finally caught on?”

Sari was a tease, but the best kind. Jace loved running into people like her, people who seemed to understand his humor and wouldn't get offended by his teasing. It was one of the things that helped his friendship with Brooke. Ugh, he missed his best friend. It was so weird that he was on a whole other continent without her. He shrugged when she confirmed that she'd made it through lots of things without her. She knew he was teasing. That was good enough.
Jace listened as she explained that the beast was ruthless. Was she calling the tree a beast? Or was there a creature that somehow lived on it? He was confsued, but he didn't want to make that obvious. He had a feeling that Sari was being vague on purpose. It wasn't the worst thing, even though it was slightly annoying. She told him, in a solemn tone, that she'd never gone closer to the tree and advised Jace to do the same. Ugh, but that would be hard. Now he was so curious. Maybe he could research about it or get someone else to tell him so he could make up his mind about if he wanted to approach it or not.
Then Sari was pulling him backwards. Jace tripped for half a second before he got his balance back and followed her down the trail, chuckling a little. She asked if he thought they could do one more and Jace glanced at his watch. "I doubt it. I think the stuff is all supposed to start soon." He grimaced. "We'll have to continue this some other time though ... and don't forget that you have to take me back to where you found me. I won't be able to find my own way there yet." That likely wasn't a surprise, but Jace didn't mind asking for help with this.

THE WHOMPING WILLOW SIMPLY WASN’T friends with anyone. Even if you had the purest heart, made from the finest gold, it would still swipe you in an instant. At least that was what the Sari learned from the accidents the tree had performed on curious students. Her lips twitched upwards at his stumble, but it was for his own benefit that he kept his distance. The Fawley didn’t want to be responsible for a student who wasn’t…technically a student just yet. She didn’t want to give the poor kid any lingering nightmares before his first day. Nodding in agreement, she knew Jace had a strong point. They had been gone for some time after all.
Resting her hand on his shoulder (with slight tip-toeing), Sari grinned up at the taller male. ”Don’t worry. I won’t forget!” She responded, ending her high in a sing-song tone. The blonde concluded it would be best for the two to trail off in the direction they had come from, to cut time down and avoid being seen by any official trailing the grounds. By the time she had managed to get Jace back to the courtyards and inside to where all the other students were, the Fawley watched as he had enough time to slip inside and play it off as if he were there the whole time. Lucky for Jace, he got it off easy with that friendly face of his, while Sari on the other hand…Was facing detention. For at least a week.
