She made it clear she wouldn't laugh at him, even if her tone was a little teasing. She said she liked the classic tv and that it was comfortable there. He nodded, then closed the door. "There's the backyard. It's small but has a flower box and... Then the two bedrooms and one bathroom upstairs," he explained. As he did, Ben quietly brought their bags in and took them upstairs, Fin saw him doing so behind Jess. "We've got about an hour before he'll make dinner, since it's our first night I figure we should have it here.,"

Fin explained about the backyard, saying there was a flower box there. She would definitely have to take a look at that later. She was curious to see what kind of flowers or plants Ben would take care of. It would tell her just a little more about the older man. Fin continued to explain about the house and Jess nodded as she did. He was right, it was a small place, but she didn't mind that in the slightest. "I like it," she told Fin, smiling as she looked around a little more. Then she turned her attention back to Fin. "So what do you want to do for that hour? Stay here with Ben or do something else?" Jess would be happy either way, though a part of her was hoping to explore a little of the city. She wouldn't tell Fin that though. She wanted to do what he thought, and she didn't want to make Ben feel bad by leaving right away.

Fin smiled as she said she liked the house. He took a step forward, reaching a hand up to touch her hair near her ear. "We can take a short drive," he suggested. They said a quick goodbye to Ben and that they'd be back and then went out to the red charger in the driveway. Fin opened the door for her, and soon was sitting in the driver's seat. They were in their way, just exploring up in the hills where their weren't a lot of cars. Fin cleared his throat, "make sure you're looking out the window, it's gorgeous out there."

Jess' breath hitched for a moment when Fin touched her hair for a second. She loved when he touched her. Even now, after several months of dating, he always could make her smile with the smallest touch. She nodded at his suggestion. "Sounds perfect."
The next thing she knew, Jess was sitting in the car, Fin driving her through the hills. The snow here was beautiful. Sure, Jess saw a lot of snow at Hogwarts, and even at home, but here it seemed magical. The way the slow clung to the branches in the trees, it was beautiful. She chuckled and nodded, "I am. It's so pretty!" she told him, glancing over at Fin for a second. "Is it even better in the summer? I'm kind of imagining wildflowers or something ..." Jess trailed off, looking back out the window, her eyes drawn to the landscape.

She agreed that it was pretty and asked about the summer. He nodded, "oh it's the greenest place you'll ever see. We'll come back," he suggested. She looked over at him and he smiled, but continued driving. After a little bit longer, he pulled down what was a dirt road but was now covered in snow. His car did fine, due to magical modifications... And he turned toward a big tree, parking underneath it. "Okay, see down there?" he leaned over her slightly to point out her window and down, "that's Ben's roof, the red one. And.... There," he pointed to another house in the neighborhood, a dark green roof, "my... Parents house."

Jess loved the idea of coming back with Fin. She'd hardly seen anything of the city, but even just from this drive around the hills she wanted to see more. Her mind was imagining all sorts of things. "I'd love that," she answered honestly. She looked back to Fin when he left the road, following some other path that he knew of? To her, it looked like he was just going through snow. He parked under a tree, pointing down to Ben's roof and Jess nodded, liking that she could place it among all the houses. He pointed to another one, labeling it as his parent's house and her smile fell ever so slightly. "I didn't realize they were so close ... and far away?" Well that sounded stupid. Jess honestly hadn't thought about where his parents lived at all. She reached over to take his hand and squeeze it. "I'm glad you had Ben," Jess added in a soft voice.

She said she'd love to come back, and he was glad for it. Once they were pulled over, she took his hand. His eyes focused in on his mother's roof, then blinked hard. "Yeah, a little far for a kid to walk by himself at night but I did it anyway," he explained. He leaned back a little, shifting his gaze to get face instead. "And now I have you," he added softly. His infatuation with her during school was one of the few things that kept him going back home, and now with real feelings it was like his lifeline. Even if he betrayed her every second that he didn't tell the truth about himself.

Jess watched Fin as he looked at his parent's roof, commenting that it was far for him to walk as a kid and she squeezed his hand. She wished there was something she could do to help. Though, maybe just talking about it would help him? She didn't know. Part of her wanted to ask questions, but she got the feeling now wasn't the time, especially when Fin turned to look at her. She smiled, nodding. "You do. And I have you." Of course, they grew up differently. Jess had parents who loved and cared for her, while Fin obviously struggled with his parents. She wanted to be there for him. Jess lifted her free hand to touch his cheek. "I love you Fin," she whispered. She knew they'd said it before, but that didn't matter. She'd say it every day if it helped Fin realize that he was wanted, that there was someone who truly cared for him in the way his parent's apparently could not.

She said that she had him, and he smiled. His soul felt full, his heart giddy with the thought that she was here, in his hometown, looking over his past. It was good to share the positive and the negative with her. That's what relationships were for, wasn't it?
He felt that familiar thing again, that guilt over what he did with Elaine. But he was going to break out of it. Jess didn't need to know now. Not here. He'd tell her after it was over... If he could stand to.
She said she loved him and he nodded. He kept his eyes on her as he unbuckled his seatbelt, then hers. "And I you," he promised again, leaning forward to kiss her. He didn't start softly this time though. He got right into it, as if they'd already been kissing for hours and working up to this one. Leaning over the console between them wasn't the most comfortable, but he'd rather do it than make her.

Sitting here with Fin was honestly all that Jess wanted. She wanted to be near him, to be with him, to see where he grew up and learn everything she could about him. She wanted him to know how deeply she cared for him and wanted him to remain in her life. She felt that same kind of longing coming from him right now.
He undid their seatbelts, leaning closer as he told her that he loved her. Then he kissed her hard. Jess went with it, wanting him to feel how much she cared for him through their kiss. She still loved kissing him. Every time felt like the first time and she never wanted him to stop. She smiled against his lips, unable to stop herself. She felt so happy here! Granted, kissing in a car where there were things between them wasn't as comfortable as kissing on a couch or basically anywhere else, but Jess didn't care. She went along with it, moving as close to him as she could with that console between them.

He kissed her for a while longer, glad that she was trying to get closer to him. He cupped her chin at points, played with her hair, took her waist, anything to feel like they were closer than they were. Finally, eventually, he broke away. "Oh, Gobdaw," he cursed in the way only an Irish person knew how, "we gotta get back," he pulled away from her and started the car, buckling his belt as he did.
Once they were off, he took the chance to catch his breath from their little snogging session. He glanced up in the rear view mirror to make sure he didn't look as disheveled as he felt. Soon they were back, and he quickly led her into the house where Ben was just taking a dinner quiche out of the oven. "I thought you may have never come back," Ben teased, placing it on the table. He gestured for them to sit and Fin held out a chair for Jess.

Jess got entirely lost in the moment, sitting there kissing Fin for who knew how long. She didn't care how long they were there, she didn't ever want to stop. However, they really couldn't stay there forever. He pulled away, saying something she'd never heard before and Jess chuckled. "What was that?" she asked in a teasing voice.
At least Fin was being responsible, pulling away and starting the car. She buckled her seat belt and the next thing she knew, they were on their way back. She glanced at the clock. They'd almost been gone an hour. She ran her fingers through her hair as they drove, looking out the windshield window, though she glanced at him frequently. Ben teased them when they got there and Jess moved to the seat Fin held out for her, shooting him a smile. "Fin was showing me a view of the city," she told Ben.

"An Irish thing," he responded to her teasing, waving a hand. He slipped into a deeper accent and more Irish slang talk when he was back at home - it just felt right to let his natural born self show. It was a nature verses nurture thing, but in this case both took a hand in how he spoke when he was back in Ireland. "Just means I've been a bit of a... 'tosspot', as I suppose they say in England," he chuckled.
Ben smiled as Jess said where they had been, "awe, yes. That boy loves those hills. Sometimes he'd spend the night up there I swear to the gods," he suggested. The food was in front of them now and Finley started to eat, speaking between swallows. "I go wherever I want in this city, that's not gonna change," he promised. He was confident here, in this house, in his city. There was only one place here he wasn't confident, and he wasn't planning on taking Jess there... this trip. Maybe in the future if he could stand it.

Jess watched Fin as he answered her question, almost casually. He seemed so comfortable here and she absolutely loved it. She smiled first, then laughed a little. "Well I don't think you've been a tosspot at all," she answered with a quick wink. "I've quite enjoyed our ... activities thus far on this trip." Yes she was teasing him maybe a little more than usual, but Jess was confident that Fin was up to it.
She loved how Ben understood exactly what she was saying, telling her just a little more about Fin. Merlin, she loved these little tidbits. Every time she learned something new about Fin, it made her feel special and warm inside. "I can understand why. It's beautiful," Jess answered before she started to eat. Then Fin was saying that he went where he wanted here and she looked over at him. This was definitely a new side to Fin and she planned to enjoy it as long as she could. She glanced between Fin and Ben, "So are there any specific sights that I need to see while I'm here?" she asked curiously.

She said she didn't think he'd been a 'tosspot' at all and that she'd enjoyed their activities so far. He shook his head, smiling. He kept his eyes on the road but reach his free hand over to place on her knee. "Me too," he agreed. She was definitely teasing him, but that didn't make the exchange any less accurate.
Jess said she understood why he liked the hills. As she asked about specifics, both Ben and Fin delved into filling the rest of the dinner with talk about places to see, things to do. At points Ben and Fin would argue over which sight was better between a few and end up moving on without coming to a conclusion. Fin was totally in his element. Happy, talkative and upbeat. His Irish was accent was stronger than ever, especially talking to Ben. Finally, the food was gone and Ben insisted on cleaning up the dishes alone. "You two get some rest, you have a lot of sightseeing to do tomorrow," he suggested, nodding toward the stairs.
