Nodding as the woman mentioned that she was formerly a curse breaker. He knew what that was, though they never came to Hy-Brasil. That would explain the variety of cultures that she had on display. That answer also had the potential to shed some light on her injury. Curse breaking was not a safe career, form what he understood.
Based off of the ingredients, he could think of a few herbs and spices that would go good, though he doubted they would be here, seeing as they were special to his former home. While he didn't have any recipes from there, he did know some things. He shrugged looking over the ingredients. "Devil's Snare could go good with it, if you have any." He doubted it. Perhaps they would have some at the school, but he was sure that most didn't think about eating it, though it was technically a magical herb.

Renfri... missed curse breaking. The adventure. The challenge. The discovery. It had been her entire life after graduation. There'd been nothing really tying her down at home, and she'd dove head first into the ruins and never really planned on surfacing. But, the accident had forced a lot of change in her life. A crippling new disability that made even the most mundane of tasks difficult. But Ri didn't need to hear the sob story. Maybe one day he'd ask, but she didn't plan on sharing that tale willingly any time soon. She didn't want the look of pity. Though part of her knew he wouldn't pity her. He had his own scars, emotional and physical.
Ri suggested Devil's Snare and she gave him a surprised look, eyebrow raised. Devil's Snare in food? It took a fraction of a moment for her to remember he was a Druid, though, and that it must not be a strange ingredient in cooking on Hy-Brasil. She'd only really known it for potions and other herbal remedies, however. After a second though, she chuckled. "Unfortunately not. My gardening skills are somewhere between 'keeping a cactus alive' and 'remembering to water it once a month'." She admitted. It wasn't intentional, she'd just always been on the go. Never really had anything to take care of. It wasn't that she was inherently bad at Herbology, just severely out of practice keeping plants alive.

Not having the plants that he was used to, Ri let Renfri take the reigns. Happy to cut up anything that needed it. As it seemed that the food was just about made, he moved to her alcohol cabinet. "Quite a selection" He commented as he looked at the bottles that she had. There were a number of expensive and well made beverages. As he went down, he spotted a rack of wines laying on their side. Pulling a few out, being quite familiar with the process, but not as familiar with the muggle varieties.
As he searched, he spotted a cork that was quite familiar. He pulled it out. It felt different. His fingers tingled with familiarity. Standing up, he held the bottle in his hand, slowly turning it around, his fingers gliding over the hand made glass, feeling the crafted label and the cork. He knew exactly what was in it. As he read the label. Eyes widening, Ri froze, even his lungs stopping as he read the date. 2017. That meant, that this bottle, this wine was made when...

Somehow they managed to throw together a makeshift stew, using whatever the found in the fridge and cabinets. As the pot was left to simmer Renfri left the kitchen to change into something more comfortable, leaving Ri to snoop in the cabinets. She heard him speak as she was pulling her hair over to one shoulder, clumsily looping a hair tie through the hair to keep it from her face. There was no question in her mind what her found. She smirked, walking back to the galley kitchen ”Hey, I’m a woman of simple pleasures. What else would I spend my money on?” considering the apartment she clearly wasn’t the sort to spend it on extravagant goods. She wasn’t the sort they cared for that sort of thing.
Renfri entered the little kitchen right when he’d fished out a wine bottle. It took a moment for her to recognize which bottle it was, but his reaction.... it clearly bothered him. She reached out, placing her hand on his arm. ”Ri?” she asked softly. A silent question of concern.

The collection of alcoholic beverages that Renfri had was truly impressive, but there was one that was more special than she knew. Motionless Ri looked at the bottle, feeling the druid made quality and craftsmanship. Years ago, before his banishment, he would have just thought of it as something he and his family had made. But now....
He felt the soft touch of Renfri's hand on his arm. "This..." It was hard to say, his eyes growing wet. "I helped make this." His fingers moving over the date. This had been made the year before his graduation. He remembered it. The harvest had been very good, he and many others would get out of class and hurry over to help harvest, press and make bottles just like this. Many to be stored and later used for celebrations and religious holidays. He breathed softly. Transfixed by the bottle. The name Wormwood was on the label, thinking of his mother, he let his fingers move over it. The craftmanship was excellent, much like all the wines that came out of the Wormwood Vineyard and Winery.

Renfri knew little to nothing of Ri’s life before his banishment. Hell, she knew nothing of how he was banished. But she should have considered the potential sentimental value of a Druid crafted wine. As he spoke though, she stopped breathing. He’d helped make it. She should have known. His moonshine concoction. It wasn’t just some talent he’s picked up in the last few months. His family must be in the wine making business. Seeing the bottle was probably a painful reminder.
Renfri took a step closer to him, leaning into him just a little with her head resting on his shoulder as her hand moved from his arm to rest around his waist. She didn’t say anything. As no words felt right in that moment.

Coming to terms with his banishment was one thing. He had successfully done that, more or less, even if it still hurt. But what helped with that was banishing memories from his mind. With this simple bottle, it all came flooding back. The good, and surely the bad. Feeling Renfri's weight on him helped steady his emotions. He moved a hand from the bottle and wrapped it around Renfri. Turning away from the bottle towards her, He stood like that for a moment, as his breath steadied and returned to normal.
After some time like that Ri, broke away, carefully placing the bottle back in it's spot, he pulled out another, muggle brand. "This should go well with the stew." He said softly, moving back to Renfri, placing his lips on hers. Thankful for the comforting that she had wordlessly given him. She must have known how hard it was for him.
In time, the stew was completed and the two sat down to eat. It was a nice meal, filled with some meaningless small talk, and some talk of Hy-Brasil. As the meal wrapped up, he helped in washing and cleaning up the dishes they had used. It had been a long time since he had been in such a domestic setting. While it wasn't his strong suit, it was nice, for a night.

Ri didn't speak for many long moments, just put an arm around her and silently worked through the emotions. No doubt seeing the bottle had stirred up many memories. Eventually though he put the bottle back, reaching for another and mentioning it going well with the stew. She turned her head so she could look at him, smiling just a little and leaning into that soft kiss. "I'll get the bottle opener," she answered in an equally soft tone.
Renfri wasn't the domestic type, much to the dismay of her family, probably. Her parents were likely rolling over in their graves at having such a rough and tumble daughter. But she didn't mind in the current situation. Because, honestly? She was just enjoying Ri's company. They'd have a vey sexually charged few encounters, so it was almost nice to have something different. That wasn't saying there wasn't still plenty of tension between them. It just showed that there was more to this then just sex. Once everything was cleaned and put away, she picked up the wine bottle, which was still about half full. "Grab the glasses and follow me." she said as she moved to the window. She set the bottle down just long enough to open the window, then picked it back up and climbed out. There was a roof there, while it probably wasn't the most advisable to be climbing on roofs with one hand, it didn't stop her. She'd clearly done this before though, as she maneuvered the rooftops with ease until she'd gotten onto the roof of her apartment. Only then did she sit down, letting her legs rest down the incline of the roof. The view from the rooftop was nice, looking over the rooftops of the magical village, the dark forest off in the distance and then the castle.

Ri had not expected to come across a bottle that he, personally, had made when he was back on Hy-Brasil. That had thrown him off balance. But now that he knew, and had taken a moment to work with it, he would be fine....he hopped. The spoke softly, and shared a tender kiss before she left to get the bottle opener.
It was nice having a quiet evening. It was very different from the meal times on the ship. Most cre members were loud, and rambunctious. Having a "nice meal together" never happened. There were rarely fights, but it was far from quiet. After their meal and clean up, Renfri took the bottle and told him to grab the glasses. Unsure what was next, but happy to go along with it, he grabbed the glasses and did as she said. He watched as she masterfully made it out of the window and onto the rooftop. Normally he would transform, but having two wine glasses in hand, he wasn't quite able too. Eagle talons were not made to hold glasses. He maneuvered out the window and followed her movements, taking to the rooftops easily, he had traveled much more trimerous ground when he was just a child. Sitting down next to her, Ri saw the view, noting the familiar shops and finally the castle and forest. Letting his legs dangle he held out a glass for her to fill.

Ri didn't argue, though she didn't expect him to, and he followed her out the window and onto the roof tops. Not the safety activity, but she liked the view from the roof top. It was a nice, quiet spot. She only did this at night though, not wanting to attract the attention of her landlord, obviously. It also wasn't exactly the right time of year (being winter) but the roof had been dry enough for the scrambling. Settled on the roof top, she smiled as he finally caught up and sat down next to her, holding out the glasses. She raised the bottle of wine, tipping the contents into the glasses, filling them half way, before setting the bottle down between her ankles, crossing them to act as support for the bottle from falling. Then, she took one of the glasses from him.
Renfri raised the glass to her lips, taking a slow sip before lowering the glass to her lap. "So, Ri. Ever thought you'd spend New Years eve and New Years day with a woman you randomly met at a pub?" She teased, commenting on the strange turn of events the past two days had been. She turned her head to smile at him. Even in the dark she could make out those pale eyes of his.

He didn't think he would be in this area again. When he was eighteen, leaving after the NEWT exams, his young naïve mind was positive that he would never be back. He was wrong. Watching Renfri poor into the glasses, he waited until she took one of them, before moving his hand.
Bringing the glass to his lips, he sipped, masterfully, and mentally, noting the different flavors of the wine the way he had been taught to from a young age. The silence was broken by the woman, she posed an excellent question. In a way, they were still strangers, but there was no contending the connection they had between them. He looked at her, shaking his head. "no, but I'm glad it happened." He looked at her and smiled. This here, was proof that the stars and fate didn't always get it right. From a young age, he was told that he was destined to be with another woman. Their argument, they were born on the same day, that fated them together. He moved in for another sift kiss. "Ever think you'd be sitting here with a druid sailor?"

Like Ri, Hogsmeade was a place she'd never thought she'd see again, or at the very least that she'd spend much time in. After graduation, and starting her career as a curse breaker. Sure, she didn't hate Hogsmeade, but being stationary like this had just never been her style. No, her plan had been to forever be on the move, the world being her home, and not a single location. But clearly, life had other plans for her. So being here, despite fond members, was bitter. It reminded her of the end of her "freedom", or at least the freedom she'd had before. But right now? Well, she didn't mind being here. Because she might not have met Ri if she'd been off on an adventure somewhere.
He leaned closer and she followed suit, making sure to keep a firm grip on her glass and the bottle so they didn't tip over as they kissed. It was nice he felt the same, glad that it happened. After the kiss she grinned. "What can I say, I'm not one for boring," she answered. That much was true. Because what was boring about a druid sailor with mushroom moonshine and throwing knives? Clearly, boring was very out the window when it came to the pair. She raised her glass to take a sip.

While he didn't fully believe in fate, and destiny like he used to, Ri felt that fate had some hand in this. There were too many factors for it to be anything else. But he was glad that it had. While he loved his life on Hy-Brasil, he felt like his choices had already been made for him. He became a Guardian, in part, because that was what his father did. He grew close to Fae, because the island and it's people expected it. Sure there were real feelings there, but a big part of why, was because of others. This, with Renfri, was different. They fit together perfectly. No expectations, no one telling them that they are supposed do be together.
He was glad that she said that she didn't like boring. He didn't live a calm life, and it seemed as though she hadn't, before her injury. "I think I can help with that." He smirked and took another sip of the wine.

Renfri smirked as he answered. Oh, she had no doubt about that. They didn't talk too much on the roof, just watching the view and finishing the bottle of wine, before finally retreating back inside when the cold winter night started to get too much for them. Back inside, with quite a bit of wine in their system, they started kissing and fumbling at each other's clothing before finally making it to her bed. While there had been many quiet moments between them tonight, there was still that undeniable physical attraction, pulling them to each other and never completely satisfied. Always wanting and needing more. Intoxicated and enthralled by each other.
Eventually, they fell asleep. Renfri lay on her side, right up against her back with and arm draped across her waist. It was... comfortable. Renfri felt safe in his arms like this. Something that was quite an off feeling for the former curse breaker. Especially of late. People didn't make her feel safe right now. Ever since the accident, when someone else's actions had almost gotten her killed. Her trust in most people had been shattered. And yet, here was Ri. She couldn't explain it. But she didn't deny it either as she was lulled into a deep sleep.
Though peaceful, her sleep was not. It rarely was. The only time she didn't have nightmares was when she drank herself into oblivion, like the night before. Most nights she was plagued by nightmares of fire. Of an ancient Chinese crypt, a dragon statue. Then, four words. Four words in a voice that haunted her. You are not worthy. And finally... flames. green flames engulfing the chamber and the blinding pain. Pain Renfri had never experienced in her life. Pain that should have killed her.
Enthralled in the nightmare, Renfri was trembling in Ri's arms, sweat beading at her forehead and eventually rolling onto her back. Her right arm shifted, cradling her left arm just a little. Finally, she woke with a start, gasping for breath and.... attempting to sit up, though it seemed in moment of panicked awakening her mind hadn't caught up with not having use of her left arm. Instead of having the stability of both arms in sitting up, she ended up rolling onto her left side again. Phantom limbs, often tricking the mind to believe the limb was still there, or at least still in use, were a common occurrence for those of... limb losing accidents. "Shit..." she breathed between her gasping breaths, as she rolled back onto her back, her right arm draping over her eyes.
(little bit of a time jump at the beginning.)

It was nice, seeing Hogsmeade, and the surrounding areas in a new light. So much had changed since then. There wasn't much talking, the two passed the comfortable silence finishing the bottle. After getting back into the small flat, the couple had their way with each other, making it to the bed. The hunger as deep and carnal as the first night they had connected.
In time, they fell asleep. It was nice being with her. Ri hadn't made a habit of sleeping next to another body, but he was comfortable with it, whether they were arm in arm, or simply sharing heat. Their soft contact was comforting as they were in their dreams.
Probably from seeing the bottle of wine, Ri dreamed of home, the home he had grown up in. The good, but especially the bad. He was woken by some sharp movements, slowly coming out to see Renfri, not in a good place. He moved so that he could better see, coming close. "Hey, everything alright?" He said, concern in his voice. Still feeling groggy, he wasn't sure what had happened.
