Just a rhyme without a reason Never-ending maze drift on numbered days April 18, 2026 Rhys looked over at Max who seemed to also be a bit perplexed by Lily’s statement. Then again Max would likely know who this Jimmie person was. ”Sometimes. She’s a trainee so she works with me mostly and wherever the bank needs another body.” It was the simplest explanation and especially when Rhys preferred not to work in Egypt and Dahlia did. His preferred area of the world was North, Central and South America with additional jobs also on other continents. Though he found that he worked in Greece a lot less now that Jasper was retired. Even places like France, Rhys hardly visited.
Lily explained again the connection between Jimbo’s Girl, Jimmie and pizza when Rhys noted the slight hesitation. Thankfully. Because the way she reworded that sentence made him shift uncomfortably where he was standing. Surely she knew how it sounded and it wasn’t something Rhys would point out and especially not in front of his sister. Laugher came from Lily as it all seemed to finally click. Had this been one of his friends making this joke he wouldn’t feel so awkward but, again, it was Max--his sister and Lily was like a sister so he felt a bit awkward. Rhys cleared his throat, shaking his head a bit. ”Well, I hope this Jimmie has a sense of humor.”
Glancing at Max, who had explained she had no idea this crowd would be here--it appeared they were all on the same page now. Rhys glanced around again, if he was being honest he was starving and he was sure Dahlia might be as well. The werewolf metabolism was a good and bad thing. Good because Rhys was rather fit between that and his work (even though many calories were liquid calories) but bad because he swore breakfast was not that long ago. ”Anyone have a menu?”

April 18, 2026 For all the escapades Rhys had that Max didn't want to dwell on, at least he was as confused by Lily's comments about Jimmie as she was. It seemed that Lily was intent on continuing that conversation just to see what their reactions would be, though Max had a feeling that she would have to check with Jimmie herself at some point during their prefect duties.
A little bit of conversation later, and Rhys asked if there were any menus around. There had been quite a number of them floating around; Max had seen them herself, but she wasn't sure what had happened to the massive pile of menus that had been laying around. With as many people as there were, they were probably being passed around the crowd, and she realized that that was a good bet when she saw a group of people not too far away from them with a couple of menus at which they weren't actively looking.
"Yeah, erm…" Max began, stopping her looking around for Dahlia to check with the other group if she could borrow one of their menus. Since they had more than one, especially, she didn't see the harm, and they were happy to give one up to her.
"Here," she told Rhys, glancing at it as she handed it off to him. "I'm not picky," she added, if it mattered to him what her preference was, "but I think I'll, er… save Jimbo's Girl for Lily…"

▲ “She’s named Jimmie. Obviously she’s got a sense of humor,” Lily continued with her laughing, as if the girl’s name and her aptitude for comedy were exclusively mutual to one another. Now that she knew what she was saying though, it made it that much better. And she could weaponize that for the dorm room later. Catching all of her roommates off-guard would be hilarious. Then she could individually ask them if they had tried the pizza yet. This was perfect! Rhys had asked for a menu, and before Lily could toss hers at him, throwing star-style, Max had forked her own over. Thinking about it a little longer, she sort of wanted to keep her menu, that way she could make a checklist of all the pies she had tried. Trying to remember the ones she had already eaten would be a little difficult, but she had no problem eating them all over again. That was part of the fun, after all. “I think I’m going to go find James. I have to tell him how I figured out my joke that I didn’t know was a joke,” she said out of the blue. Time didn’t really exist in her little bubble, but it had definitely been a few minutes since she had last seen her brother’s position in the line. “If I find Greyback Number Three, I’ll point her in your direction.” As she turned around to head back towards the line, she sidestepped a woman that was standing almost directly behind her. She looked like a Dahlia. “FOUND HER!” Lily screamed, grabbing the girl by the shoulders and moved her into place with the other Greybacks. Hopefully that was her. @tag ● ### ● Song by Artist MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

▲ Why were there so many people here? She spent so much of her time in tombs and dive bars, basically away from living beings, that having to be around this many bodies pressed together felt gross. Catacombs were much more comfortable than this. Max had invited her and Rhys though, and despite having been at the pizza restaurant only a month prior, she knew that it wasn’t right to turn down the offer. This family bonding thing was starting to grow on her more, and when it didn’t, she had weeks away to keep to herself. It weirdly worked out well for her, and let her ignore people that she simply didn’t want to deal with. She hoped that some of those people weren’t here today. Finding her siblings was a headache at first. Just getting into the building meant having to use her elbows and a few swears in French, which caused just enough confusion that she could make people realize they were being jerks. She understood that everyone was tired of waiting in line and hungry, but she could absolutely out argue anyone right now because she was even hungrier than any of them were. Eventually, after waiting in line for at least forty-five minutes, she saw the back of Rhys’s head, and then a redheaded girl she didn’t recognize, soon followed by Max who seemed to have seen them before they had seen her. Dahlia rocked on her heels anxiously, waving her hand a few times in their direction, but to no avail. Leaving the line after being in it for so long wasn’t what she wanted to do. Her stomach was literally begging her not to step away from her spot. Looking at the people behind her, she tapped one of the girls on the shoulder and asked her if it was fine if she left and quickly grabbed her family to bring them back. There weren’t any protests from the small group, so Dahlia took that to mean it was fine. Moving fast, she broke from the line and managed to get right behind the redheaded girl when she heard her talking about eating someone, and then said redhead almost smacked into her as she turned around. The scream that erupted from the girl as she moved Dahlia into place next to her siblings left her in shock. “Who the fuck was that, and why was she talking about eating some girl?”@tag ● XXX ● song by artist MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Just a rhyme without a reason Never-ending maze drift on numbered days April 18, 2026 ”Right.” Rhys responded in that bored older brother fashion. And he watched as Max walked away to grab a menu from a group nearby, cracking a bit of a smile at her disinterest in the pizza “Jimbo’s Girl”. He glanced down and began to read the names, they hadn’t changed since his last visit the month before but he still found them just as ridiculous. ”What did you get last time again?” Rhys couldn’t remember if it was the ’I Wanna Dance with Some-Pizza’ or ’Pie #49’. Rhys himself found himself looking twice at the ’Pizza Haze’ with how hungry he was feeling.
Rhys looked up when Lily spoke again, saying she was going to look for her brother James and also keep an eye out for Dahlia. Before he could thank Lily and say a property goodbye she screamed and loud enough that Rhys flinched and several people turned and looked in their direction. It was quite a feat considering how loud it was with how many people were in this building. Clearly it had been charmed to allow this many people or it might be considered some kind of hazard. ”Thanks Lily, i’ll see you around.” Rhys gave her a quick grin before looking back at his sister.
”That’s Lily, Lily Potter.” Rhys made up his mind on what pizza he wanted and held out the menu to offer to Dahlia. ”She was Adrian’s girlfriend before he ran off.” Rhys added with a light shrug. The antics of his younger brother didn’t surprise him anymore so he didn’t stress over it. But if he was being honest, he felt a bit responsible for Lily now that she was a werewolf and had been turned by his brother--a Greyback. It had been some time since he’d gone to the states, though Dahlia at least got to meet him that summer she began working at the bank with him. A small smirk appeared on his face, Dahlia had heard that end of the conversation regarding Jimmie. All he could do was shake his head. ”She was talking about a pizza....I think.” Rhys mumbled at the end, shaking his head a bit. ”We’ve been waiting for you, where have you been?”

April 18, 2026 Max wasn't sure if Lily's strategy of grabbing the first person who remotely appeared to be Dahlia had been the brightest move, but it was too late for that. Luckily, she hadn't been mistaken and had grabbed Dahlia by the arm—undoubtedly scaring the living daylights out of her in the process, but at least she and Rhys could explain that Lily hadn't actually meant any harm. If Lily had been mistaken, it would have been a different story, and they very well could have had a duel on their hands. (Actually, from how frustrated Dahlia sounded from having been pulled in their direction by a stranger to her, a duel still sounded like it might have been a possibility.)
Rhys managed to explain who Lily was before Max herself could do so, which saved her that much, at least. "Hi. Sorry about her. I think she must have raided Honeydukes earlier." She gave Dahlia a hesitant smile, wanting to ensure that Lily was well and truly out of the way before speaking. She didn't want Lily to come back and end up practically tackling Dahlia to the ground or something.

▲ Redhead was Adrian’s ex? She felt like a lot made sense now, but also not, at the same time. If she remembered the way the story went, that also meant this was the girl that he turned into a werewolf. The Potter name wasn't exactly unknown in France either, so that was just another layer on top of it all. The girl had...something. Energy, yes. But she seemed completely unhinged, to the point where she was randomly grabbing out and getting lucky she had a hold of the right person. Dahlia was still rattled, and the explanations being given by her siblings helped a lot. Max stated that Lily must have been at the candy store, while Rhys was still trying to reason the eating a person thing. “Right...well I don't get the similarities between the two, regardless of which she meant.” She certainly didn't see eating pizza and...yeah. ”I was in line,” she answered, though that made her remember the whole reason she had stepped away from it to begin with. ”Are you both fine to go there? A nice person said she was fine holding the spot so I could find you.” Dahlia wasn't naive enough to take the girl’s word at face-value, but she had a feeling it would be fine to head back and reclaim her spot. ”I got pretty far up in it too,” she stated as she started walking back, which was far away from Lily Potter. @tag ● XXX ● song by artist MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Just a rhyme without a reason Never-ending maze drift on numbered days April 18, 2026 Rhys actually agreed with Max, it was likely that Lily had consumed quite a bit of candy prior to coming here, though it was hard to tell with her natural energy levels. While Rhys had interacted Harry Potter minimally, he’d interacted with James more and he was an energetic fellow himself. Harry was calmer so he wondered where it all came from. Still, Rhys would rather the talk about ‘eating pizza’ stop. Especially now that he was with his sisters and if that last conversation over pizza wasn’t awkward enough, this would be. Rhys cleared his throat slightly again and nodded to Dahlia to lead the way. If she had a good spot in line that meant they might be able to get some food before the next full moon afterall.
”We can look for a table when we get closer to the front.” Rhys suggested. Again he made a hesitant glance behind him, Sarah was still there but she was looking anything but excited to be there. Still, he knew her back all throughout his school days and in that entire time he couldn’t have ever imagined her with that ridiculous hat on her head. After that incident in their seventh year he’d done everything he could to distance himself. They disagreed on many things and enough to be enemies and the last thing he needed was her seeing him, let alone with his siblings.
They began to walk in the direction of the line and Rhys’ eyes scanned the people standing. He saw James’ in the back with a very excited Lily but otherwise he didn’t really recognize many people. It had been so long since he’d graduated that the student’s faces weren’t familiar anymore.

April 18, 2026 Dahlia told them that she had actually been waiting in the queue the entire time, so that meant that they had just wasted however long she had been standing there prior to Lily's having dragged her over, Max thought, until Dahlia mentioned a moment later that she had managed to get someone to save her place for her so that she could find them. That had worked out well enough, and it sounded like a good idea to Max to go back into the queue so that whoever had been nice enough to assist them hadn't been left waiting for nothing.
Rhys suggested that they could get a table once they were out of the queue again, and Max nodded. As long as they didn't have an angry mob coming at them for cutting in, she considered, they probably wouldn't have any problems. Besides, it looked like people were watching as the woman who was attempting the pizza challenge threw in the towel on that.
"Merlin," Max muttered. She couldn't even imagine attempting that, and certainly not with as massive a pizza as had been presented to the woman. It wasn't really a problem, though, because she knew that she wouldn't have gotten dragged into something like that. Actually, considering that Lily had forced Dahlia over to them, maybe it would have been more of a possibility than she first thought.
"I feel bad just skipping the queue," Max mentioned to Rhys and Dahlia, "but it's either that or we'll be here for a week…"

▲ She hadn’t been aware of the length of the line until she turned back around and saw it winding even further throughout the building. It had a fun-house effect, as where she had been ten minutes prior was now zig-zagging back and forth, fancy line dividers now keeping people in their place. Everything she had been in so far had been free-flowing, presumably part of the reason that led to the chaos within. Lily Potter had caught her eye again as she led her siblings away from where they had all been standing, as she attempted to hop the rope that separated the line from the seating area now. Somehow the girl didn’t fall despite it being well above her waist. It would have been easier to go under it at her height. “I think the Blishwick man is organizing things as more people come in,” Dahlia explained as she led them along the line, looking for the blonde girl that had been nice enough to hold their spot. With the way everything had been reorganized in the short period she had been away, her spot could have been on the other side of the restaurant by now but not actually advanced. The simple restructure really helped though. “I don’t mind taking it to the Pig’s Brain bar,” she added, as Rhys mused that they would still need to find a table when they got closer to ordering. She finally spotted the girl she was looking for, sort of near the front, but approaching the line Dahlia realized that there were still a few more back and forths to go before they actually made it to an employee. The sink in her stomach told her that she really needed food, and then to drown it in alcohol. “Right there,” she pointed at the girl and her siblings. “The blonde said I could bring you two back.”@tag ● XXX ● song by artist MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Just a rhyme without a reason Never-ending maze drift on numbered days April 18, 2026 Rhys shrugged, if he was the one waiting in line he might think different but at this point he felt his stomach might digest itself if they didn’t order soon. The idea was enough to make him a little grumpy. But, he was trying to be patient—this was quality time with his sisters after all and Dahlia had the foresight to secure them in line. ”I’d rather eat before the next full moon…” He mumbled mostly to himself. Though Dahlia would understand. His eyes continued to scan the room, a habit of his. Even he didn’t fully register everyone he was looking at—this many years as a Cursebreaker taught him to be mindful of his surroundings.
Lily was jumping a barrier to get to her brother and made it look effortless. ”I wonder if he had expected such a crowd.” Rhys certainly hadn’t, but he’d manage. Plus Dahlia had a good suggestion, they could order and take their pizza elsewhere while giving the current crowd their space to participate in whatever event this was. Even if he had gotten the name of the bar wrong, which made him smile a bit, but they’d spent enough time together at this point that he knew what she meant.
Dahlia pointed to a set of siblings in line, one with darker hair and a blonde and a third girl who’s hair color changed a few seconds after Rhys looked in her direction. That was something he never quite got used to when encountering Metamorphmagus in the wild. ”With the one who’s hair just changed color?” Rhys would let Dahlia approach since he was technically and probably the one most familiar with them at this point.

April 18, 2026 Dahlia pointed out that a blonde girl had been the one to hold their place in the queue, and Max realized precisely about whom she was speaking. It was none other than Penelope Bainbridge, though Max was surprised to see that it didn't look like all of her siblings were there with her. The triplets, at least, almost always seemed to be within close proximity to one another.
Rhys mentioned another girl whose hair was changing color along with the blonde girl, and Max nodded. It was definitely one of Penelope's older sisters. "Yeah," she said to Rhys, motioning for him and Dahlia to follow her over. "I know them. Penelope's in my year but in Hufflepuff," she explained, though she wasn't at all surprised that Penelope hadn't known who Dahlia was. Allowing someone to leave the queue and then come back to it seemed like something Penelope would do, though.

▲ The plight of the hungry werewolf. Dahlia understood that feeling, and with a line of this length, it absolutely seemed like they were going to be locked up in it until the moon came back. On the flip-side, it could be worse. They could still be launched to the back if people thought they were slipping by and trying to jump line. “I could eat a horse again,” Dahlia muttered to her brother. There had been that one instance where she may have not been locked up properly and happened to miss a potion the week prior to the full moon. At least she wasn't hungry in the morning? Max seemed to know one of the girls in line, and Dahlia nodded. “Not the changing hair one, but the one that looks like her but isn't.” They looked like siblings, definitely close in age, but she was having trouble deciding if they were twins or not. Certainly didn't look it but she had been absolutely wrong about things like this before. Looking at all the Greybacks, only a few distinct characteristics occasionally stuck out, like the eye color she and Rhys shared, or that they all had severely traumatic childhoods. That definitely seemed to show at times. “Pardon,” Dahlia butted into the conversation that the three sisters(?) were having. In the moment, she forgot what the English phrase was. “Are we fine to get back in line?”@tag ● XXX ● song by artist MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Just a rhyme without a reason Never-ending maze drift on numbered days April 18, 2026 Rhys looked Max, it was lucky that she knew the girl who was saving their spot. He supposed that might make it less awkward and less like they were trying to jump spots in line with people in the back glaring at them. But then his eyes glanced at Dahlia as she muttered. He’d forgotten about that, but honestly every werewolf had a story or two that might confused non-werewolves so Rhys didn’t react much to it. ”Yes, we wouldn’t want that…” While Rhys had never encountered a Horse (to his knowledge) he’d definitely had those experiences where he’d missed a potion.
A look of confusion came over Rhys’ face, so they were sisters or they weren’t? It was hard to tell, one was blonde and one had dark hair and the third was able to change her appearance so who knew what she really looked like? Unless they were like his own family where few features from their father was noted (minus the eyes and the boys’ heights) and fortunately they often took after their respective mothers. Dahlia approached the younger blonde girl—Penelope, as Max had noted. He smiled awkwardly while standing behind his sisters.
While the line curved around the shop in a strangely efficient fashion, Rhys noted that a few other tables were also participating in whatever challenge Sarah had been placed into and other tables were like side by side with kids and other adults standing in front of them. Rhys couldn’t be sure what was going on exactly, but they seemed just as antsy as those in line. Meanwhile, the blonde girl looked at them, she looked about Max’s age though more shy.

April 18, 2026 They went back over to where Penelope and her sisters were, and Dahlia checked with them to ensure that it would be alright for them to take the place back up that they had been holding for them. "Hi, Penelope. Erm, thanks for saving our place in the queue." Max added, feeling sort of awkward about the whole encounter but not sure if she should just introduce her half-siblings or allow them to do that for themselves.
Trying to keep from angering anybody else who had been waiting without having gotten out of line, Max tried to slide in as quickly and as unnoticeably as she could. Just from having been in classes with Penelope, she knew that the Hufflepuff wasn't too great with confrontation but knew that she couldn't bring that up to Rhys and Dahlia without accidentally embarrassing her.
Either way, things were moving, though they were moving at about the pace that one would expect for a pizza parlor packed with people. At least they weren't all the way at the end of the queue, Max thought as she glanced backwards over her shoulder. Those people would be in for a long wait.
