Summer 2023Lee had never seen herself as a parental figure of any sort. She hadn’t been overly mature in school, and no one had ever called her an old soul. But, she loved being an older sister, and she felt a calling in that role beyond her own younger sister. Lee thought of Chrissy often, the young girl she had rescued from the Second Salemers years before. Chrissy wasn’t the first person she had saved. Not even the first child. But, she was the only child she had saved who didn’t have anyone to go home to. It got to Lee, it gave her a sense of responsibility. She decided to keep up with the younger girl, mentor her as she aged, if she could. She wanted to give her a sense of stability in some way; a sister she could always count on.
And now that Ilvermorny was on summer vacation, Lee had ample time to see Chrissy. She tried not to bug her much during school, but she wrote periodically to check in and ask how the year was going. Lee kind of liked hearing about her time at school, it was almost like reliving her own.
She picked Chrissy up from her foster family, who she always tried her best to stay on good terms with so they would let her visit, and decided to take her out for the day for a day of summer fun at the Santa Monica Pier. Sure, it was overwhelmingly filled with No-Majs, but it was pretty, and she had heard great things. She had even exchanged some money into dollars so they’d be able to enjoy it to the fullest. “well… anywhere you want to start?” she asked as they stood under the large sign, the whole pier before them.
