Selene was not a malicious person, although the same could not be said so easily about her sister Luna. Luna was the vicious one, Phoebe the sweetheart. Yet Selene was probably the odd one in her ability to tolerate most people, even if she pretty much despised them. Today was one of the days it was quiet in the common room for the most part. She'd opted to take her knitting to the sofa's near the fireplace, where one Gideon was sitting. She knew he'd recently gotten his ass handed to him in a fight because he'd been... well pretty much himself. She didn't know the details, nor did she care about them. As her fingers deftly worked on her little knitting project she decided to turn her attention to the boy that had been attracting a lot less attention than before of late. "Hello Gideon." She said politely as ever. "I notice you've been more quiet lately. Is everything okay?" Now she wasn't going to mention the fight he'd been in unless he did, nor did she plan on being anything but polite unless he gave her reason not to. He wasn't exactly a popular kid right now and she knew a lot of people didn't see him in a very positive light either. She figured that everybody needed somebody and well, she could deal with him well enough on her own to be able to supply him with some support if he should so desire. His temper surely wouldn't be the thing to endear him to their classmates anyway. Perhaps though, with some patience, she could assist him in making himself less troublesome, if he should desire to do so. It was entirely possible after the physical altercation. That could change a perspective after all. gideon edward ollivander

Gideon was sitting in an arm chair tucked at the back corner of the Slytherin common room, minding his own business as he tried to be unnoticed. The past couple of weeks, he'd gotten used to blending in and laying low, feeling like a dog with his tail between its legs. After getting his ass handed to his prison style on the rotating staircases by Nessa, Gideon felt himself go through a gravitational shift. He knew he screwed up and he regretted it thoroughly. Maybe an ass beating into another dimension was what he needed to stop being such a jerk.
Gideon tore his eyes from the book at the sound of a females voice politely greeting him. Before the ass beating sponsored by Nessa, he probably would have rolled his eyes and told the voice he was busy. His brown eyes locked onto one of the triplets. Honestly, he couldn't tell them apart. His jaw clenched, feeling slightly uncomfortable, "I'm fine." he told her unconvincingly, but he didn't tell her to 'fuck off' like he would before.
The question alone got his gears turning. Nobody other than Yvonne asked him if he was okay after the incident. He felt like more people were laughing at his double black eye combo more than anything. Thank Merlin that had finally started to fade away and his face stopped feeling so tender. Gideon had many moments of reflection, contemplating the most on the fact that no one helped him because he probably didn't deserve it. That was embarrassing.

How utterly unconvincing Gideon seemed to be. He said he was fine but he was quiet rather than irritating everybody that came within a few feet of him. His shiner hadn't fully faded yet and he looked like he was trying to disappear rather than start a fight. It was highly unusual but well, Selene did quite believe he deserved his condition due to his behaviour. She just didn't believe isolation to be any kind of cure for his behaviour, as it very often had a very interesting source. Being misunderstood or just not getting enough support at home, things like that. Friendship could fix a lot more of that then isolating somebody and beating them up, although that did help at times. She just wasn't one to take on the violence herself. She smiled slightly and nodded briefly after his claim. "Good." She said simply and then pulled up a chair and sat down with him. "Considering you're perfectly fine, I'm sure you wouldn't be so rude as to refuse some company, since you seem to have been lacking that since the little incident." She told him pleasantly as she took out on of her knitting projects and tossed the yarn on the floor so it could freely roll around as she knitted. Her cats were at home since she couldn't bear to separate one from the other two. Much like separating the triplets had never been something people were all too keen on. "Now would you prefer small talk, comfortable silence or do you want somebody to talk to about more meaningful things, since I am open to any of those." She said, not looking at him even a moment as she appeared to interest herself far more in her yarn and knitting than him. If he wanted to, he could always choose to leave, but she had no intentions of moving after she bothered to pick up a chair and move all the way here. Not to mention she hadn't been rude at all, so asking her to leave could easily be manipulated into calling him rude and impolite if needed. Not to mention that would only lead her to very politely demand a very clear reason as to why she ought to leave. If he managed to provide that? Well of course she'd leave him alone. gideon edward ollivander

Well, maybe he should have went with the approach of telling her to 'fuck off' like he originally planned to. As the blonde pulled up a chair to sit near him, too close for comfort, his entire body stiffened. Gideon's eyes peered up from the book in his grip to send Selene an uninterested stare. All he wanted to think about was the Yew wood he was reading about but her mouth kept babbling and ruining his train of thought.
The clone freak spoke like she knew him and the entire situation that unfolded in the staircases. It was really annoying. Gideon felt his gears beginning to grind as he clenched his teeth, hard. He was working on his anger after the aforementioned incident. Deep down, Gideon knew most people didn't like him and it was his own fault.
But still, he couldn't help but lash out like the unforgiving snake he was..
Gideon dropped the book in his lap, rage flaring inside him that he'd lost the his page. The Ollivander was prepared to chuck her ball of yarn across the common room out a fit, just to make her pick it up. Now he knew the triplet he was dealing with was Selene, because the other two weren't grandmas who knit. Gideons eyes bore into her, "You don't know me. I don't want company." he told her begrudgingly with a sigh. "And I don't want to talk to you. Freak."

Well at least he made it plenty obvious why nobody enjoyed spending time with him. He was rude and barely had the decency to keep from shouting. Yet Selene (at this point in time, mind you) was still patient and willing to explore how to help people. She wanted to see if her housemate needed something that she could provide him with. He wasn't exactly easy to be around after all. She smiled slightly as the first rather childish combat came out of his mouth. "We you don't make it particularly easy for anybody to get to know you either." She told him simply, not giving much of a crap that he was being snippy with her. "I'm pretty sure that your entire shindig of not wanting company or anybody to know you is exactly why nobody would bother to defend you whenever the next time inevitably comes that somebody wants to punch your face in." She continued. He'd taken the first blow and she was just countering and working off what he said. He made the beginning, but she kept the yarn spinning. He called her a freak and she smiled a rather genuine smile at him. "Well that's the first nice thing you've said to me." She said calmly with a warm smile on her face. Then she inspected her knitting for a moment before she continued. "And you might not want to talk to me, but who else will you talk to? You don't seem to have many friends and unless you want to end up living on the streets until you eventually piss off somebody that'll kill you it might be wise to start learning how to be tolerable to your peers. You don't have to befriend them, but at least you can work on pissing them off a little less significantly." She told him a little dryly. She shrugged. "But if you're not interested I'm not going to stop you from walking up. I might give you an estimate of how long it'll take you to get killed though." She said casually, knowing she could at least attempt to peek into the future to find out. Ever so helpful, in her own peculiar little ways. gideon edward ollivander

Gideon sat frozen watching the blonde with utter scrutiny, eyebrows crumbled at the center of his forehead. Now, he was more entertained by this looney girls tongue but he'd much prefer his readings on Yew for his woodworkings. Maybe her words were annoying because they were partially true. If he barked up the wrong tree, one day he may had ended up in a ditch.
The snake slowly looked her up and down with judgement, "You really think you've got it all figured out, don't you?" he scoffed with an eye roll. Watching her, his eyes fell on her pathetic knitting project. "I don't care if anyone likes me or not. Someday people like you will work for me." he told her, meant to be taken in full offense.

Selene didn't particularly care if people were nice to her. It had never been much of a priority to her if people were nice to her or not at all. So as he snapped back with all the evidence that she was right, she simply shrugged. "Feel free to prove me wrong." She said with a careless shrug as she kept her knitting needles clicking against one another rather calmly she considered that it was all wasted effort but well, so many things she did were wasted effort. Knitting a sweater for Luna most certainly was as her sister would never wear it. She liked to think it was the thought that counted. Selene smiled slightly as he claimed that one day people like her would work for him. "And what exactly will your job be in this scenario? Considering I was thinking about going into quidditch or working at an elderly home I find it hard to imagine working for you." She said with a held back chuckle. Attempting to envision him as a caregiver in any sort of capacity was nothing short of hilarious. "I don't think that caregiver would suit you very well to be quite candid." She told him, a hint of a smile playing on her face. gideon edward ollivander

Gideon shut his book with a huff, nostrils flaring. He was painfully embarrassed about the incident on the staircase with Nessa. He was more pissed off at Selene for bringing it up as an introduction. Yvonne was the only one who made him feel better about it. Not that he deserved it.
"I've got nothing to prove to you." Gideon told her sharply, his eyes looking her up and down with judgement. He had the intrusive thought of unraveling her ball of yarn for bothering him.
A smirk pulled at the corners of his lips after she told him she didn't picture him as a caregiver. And she was right. There was no way in hell he had the patience to be a caregiver. ”Well, guess you can’t hear, either.” he quipped as his eyes rolled to the back of his skull. ”I said people like you.” Gideon emphasized in a condescending tone, looking at her like she was stupid. ”Simple minded peasants who..waste their time with grandma activities..” his eyes narrowed on her knitting project. Selene appeared to be a skilled knitter by the work she had curled up in her lap. Giddy's eyebrows furrowed at the center of his forehead, "People who're content with wiping asses as a form of living." he snapped. His view on the world was obviously a bit warped, being a pretentious, snobby, rich kid, who had everything handed to him on a golden platter.

Well he was truly worthless. She agreed he had nothing to prove and with every word that came out of his mouth she felt less and less like he deserved any sort of compassion. He certainly had none of his own to spare. She looked at him in utter boredom as he called her a simple minded peasant. "Well at least I'm capable of making something rather than breaking everything that might well be worthwhile that comes along my path. Should you ever require help I don't think you ought to find yourself surprised if you end up covered in your own shit without the ability to clean up because nobody is willing to help you, no matter how much you'd offer to pay them. That is your path." Or at least, that was his path if he didn't manage to change his behaviour. Not that such a thing was her responsibility. "That choice is your own, but I shall have no regrets if we won't meet again after summer." It was likely, even if she didn't know why. She just had a very strong feeling about it all. Maybe their parents would have them transfer? Anything was possible really. gideon edward ollivander
