As much as Harry considered Viv one of his own brood, he was relieved to have disentangled himself from her spouting ideas about a new Witch TV pitch. She was ingenious and incredibly creative, delivering speeches and scripts better than even her father had. Her enthusiasm was catching, though Harry had been reluctant to agree this particular evening. He was hovering on a knife's edge between sobriety and inebriation, and as he left Viv and Drizzle to their own devices, he plunged himself firmly into the side of the latter.
Harry plucked a shot of firewhisky from where they hovered around the outskirts of the lounge and knocked it back. He placed it on one of the many hovering platters that drifted throughout the crowd, supported only by Ginny's exceptional charmwork. Harry wished he could have taken more credit for the party, but he'd only helped hang some of the holly and paid the bills. This had been Ginny's brainchild, a way for her to focus her unbounded energy into something to bring others delight.
Head slightly fuzzy, Harry glanced around the room, searching for a flash of fiery hair. Not much to his surprise, there were numerous gingers here. And not only Weasley's, though they made up the vast majority. He recognised one of Lily's classmates, among others. He hadn't spotted Teddy yet, though he wondered if his godson would make an appearance in the wake of so much alcohol. Perhaps it was better if he avoided it for now. At last, Harry spotted the person he had been seeking, and made a beeline for her. Ginny looked, if possible, more beautiful than he had ever seen her. He thought she'd been jaw dropping in the gown she'd worn to the Quidditch gala, but now... "You never cease to amaze me," said Harry in a low growl, his lips grazing his wife's ear as he wrapped an arm loosely around her middle.

The annual Potter Christmas party had been a tradition now since Harry and Ginny had left school post war. It had started as a small gathering for their close friends in the dingy little flat they had shared in Diagon Alley, and over the years it had morphed into something on a much grander scale for anyone who ever had any brief connection to them or the extended Potter/Weasley clan. Ginny had put in her utmost effort as always, looking elegant and gorgeous as ever in a backless velvet green dress for the season. It made her feel good, even if Molly ad told her she was too old for it. Moving effortlessly through the party she had mingled enough now and was mostly exhausted as she stood to the side of the room out of the main crowds to fix herself a drink and give herself a few minutes of a recharge. It was both a surprise and unsurprising when she felt Harry's arm wrap around her from behind. She knew it was him of course and that lended her a thrill, but she was surprised that he was as bold with it here and now. The boldness of him doing it in front of so many people made her cheeks burn red. "Harry.." she murmured in quiet response, eyes darting around to make sure they hadn't been caught "Not here." Though she wasn't exactly mad at the risk he had taken. Ginny had been watching her husband drift around the room since arriving earlier and had found herself wanting him closer, but she hadn't wanted to break the self imposed rules just yet. Yes they had found themselves drifting closer and closer together after the Gala and what had happened that night, but Ginny had tried to delay it a little; to try make sense of the whys of it. But after years of loving him it was just too much to stay away it would seem. She had been enjoying their little rendezvous, and of course it was getting harder to stay away from him in public settings like tonight, and yet, she just wasn't ready to go public with it all just yet. Going public and letting everyone know she was back with her husband was making it official, and somehow in her mind that was so much scarier. It put her out there to get hurt again, and that was not what she wanted. With a quiet rumble of a laugh, she rolled her eyes and led him out into the main corridor, away from the rented lounge where the party was and in to a move private alcove where there was nobody about. "This is better" With another laugh she leaned in and pressed her lips against his, now much more relaxed that they were away from prying eyes. It hadn't been all that long since they had seen each other, she had only left the room above the pub this afternoon when she had to come home and get ready for the party, but it seemed a lifetime ago now they were here face to face again.
