Wine Tasting (OPEN)

Valentine's Day meant little to Sadhbh, who had been more concerned with the traditional Druidic practices on Hy-Brasil than with the holidays that were celebrated by those on what the Druids referred to as the mainland. February in general, though, was a celebratory month, so she could appreciate the idea that mainlanders gifted each other boxes of chocolates and sent each other letters to profess their undying love. She could also appreciate sharing the wine her family made with a wider audience than the tourists who visited Hy-Brasil—and with less intrusion into her day-to-day life.

Combining both Valentine's Day and an event where she could provide a wine tasting was an interesting idea, and it was one that Sadhbh had decided to pursue once she knew that the opportunity was available to her despite the fact that she was selling alcohol. To keep anyone underage from accessing the wine, though, Sadhbh had agreed to cast an Age Line around the immediate perimeter of where she would be holding the wine tasting, not that she saw any issue with doing that. She didn't trust the Hogwarts students not to try something, and she didn't want to end up in any trouble with the Ministry if any children tried to take advantage of the situation.

The hardest part of the whole thing was in bringing all the supplies that she needed to Hogsmeade from Hy-Brasil. It wasn't just the wine bottles that she was selling; she also needed to bring everything along for the tasting. From wine glasses to signage to wooden tables and chairs, the process ended up requiring Sadhbh to enlist the help of her younger sister, Medb, to get everything into the village.

At long last, though, they were ready to go, situated near the Three Broomsticks with an Age Line and all, large wooden signs staked into the ground to advertise their Druid-made wine.

While not entirely sure what a Wine Tasting was, Rían knew that he liked wine. He had been hesitant to come out this evening, but something inside him had pushed him regardless. The week had been long and full of evenings spent in his own company or with only a few words exchanged with one or two regulars in the Leaky Cauldron after his dinner, before he went home to his empty flat. So when the flier for the Valentine's Festival had come to his attention in the Leaky Cauldron, something piqued his interest all the same. Despite his general disdain and dislike for people, something had made him want to come to soak in the atmosphere of the festival. A brief thought crossed his mind that it could in fact be the crippling loneliness he had suffered his whole adult life, and yet, he still went to the festival of love.

Wandering through the streets of the village of Hogsmeade had gotten him slightly het up, truth be told. The loved-up couples, young and old had made him an uneasiness in him that he wasn't quite sure how to feel about.

All the same, he tried to shake himself up and put on a brave face as he entered the Three Broomsticks, easily surpassing the age line to stand and eyeball the bottles somewhat warily, unsure of what to choose.

Ultimately, setting up everything inside the pub worked out more easily, given that it had more resources than she reasonably could bring over from Hy-Brasil. The Age Line didn't seem to have affected business for the Three Broomsticks, either, which Sadhbh was happy to see because it meant that she wouldn't run into any problems with the mainlanders. Though it took a little while for people to realize why she was there, she did get some occasional interested glances—but not much more.

That changed, however, with a relatively young man who stood in place, looking at the bottles of wine. Hoping that he was interested enough in the wine to try some for himself, Sadhbh gave him a small, tight-lipped smile. "Hello," she greeted him. She was glad that she had a good command of English in addition to Brasilic, even though she used the latter far more often. Her accent was apparent, however, but at least it was obvious that it was authentic wine from Hy-Brasil. "Are you interested in a wine tasting?"

Creasing his brow in confusion, his hand drifted forward to let his fingers trace over the labels to try and see if there would anything that jumped out at him from that. The place was bustling, and Rí felt like he was just another person in the crowd. Unsure of whether that was a good thing yet or not, he continued to survey the bottles. He hadn't quite been prepared for any sort of interaction that would come from it though. Hadn't been expecting Sadbh to actually directly speak to him.

Quickly he withdrew his hand and his cheeks flushed. Caught red-handed.

Her tone was friendly, of course, but still. The interaction had caused Rían to mentally fold in on himself. Of course with his overly large frame, it was near impossible physically, but still. It was quite apparent her directness had rattled him in the way his face blanched.

Finally looking up to meet her gaze, his mouth hung open slightly. "Uhh..." he couldn't feel more like an idiot. But really he had no idea what he was doing here. Her accent was strange, he decided, eyes glancing over her slightly sun bleached copper hair. "I wat ta say yes, but I'm not sure what it entails, and I think that makes me sound a bit like an eejit. I'm sorry.." unsure of what he was even apologising for, his brow furrowed again as his tone was low, northern Irish accent rather broad and apparent.
