Why couldn’t she have been one of the people bitten by the werewolves at Hogsmeade? The tortuous monthly transformation sounded, while unbelievably inconvenient and painful, like one of the most metal experiences ever. Tilly had long since wanted to hang out at Claustrum de Lupus in Horizont Alley on the full moon to be able to witness the change, but for obvious safety reasons had never actually been allowed. Something about the ripping and tearing of her human flesh as the wolf forced its way out…it gave her shivers in all of the best ways.
She kept this fascination to herself though, as willingly becoming a werewolf was frowned upon and it really would mess with her life plans big time if she happened to find herself as one. For as much as she was injured from Quidditch, she also didn’t want to have the exhaustion and pain that was supposedly associated with the turn. The only reason she could deal with her frequent broken bones, nose, and missing teeth was because the school nurse patched her up right fast. There was nothing quick about it turning into a vicious, man-killing beast unfortunately.
Leaving the Hufflepuff locker room behind her at the Quidditch Pitch, Tilly pulled her travel cloak tightly around her as she was met with a blast of biting, November air. Winter was already trying to creep in. It made practice miserable. Even with thermal gear, the frigid air still went through it all when she really got going on her broom. It wasn’t often that she was left miserable after practice, and probably why her mind drifted towards wanting to be a werewolf. That creep towards death’s door before being yanked back was the real high she was chasing. Quidditch should have taken her mind off of it, but not when she was cold and tired.
Having departed after the rest of her team, Tilly could see them climbing back towards the castle as one blob of black robes, battling together against blast of wind that was hurtling down towards her. All she wanted right now was a steaming cup of coffee, to warm her up and get the energy going again. Her parents disliked the caffeine consumption, something about being too young to be dependent on the stimulant. Tilly always mentally blocked them out. What did they know about magic school and broom flying? Nothing.
With the first school building fast approaching, Tilly popped through the only door she could see. The instant change from freezing to somewhat warm was unbelievably welcomed. The only problem was that she had no idea where she was now. Quite a few of the LIFE buildings for programs she didn’t care about were complete unknowns to her. From a quick glance at the glass cases on the walls, this was where the Cursebreakers tended to hang out.
A spark of excitement bubbled up in her. Cursebreakers dealt with tomb raiding and mummies, right? That meant they had knowledge about death and practices surrounding it from all over the world? Even though she was starving, finding someone that she could force into conversation about all of that would be awesome. Bringing her cold sprint down to a slow walk, she took her time, hoping to ‘accidentally bump’ into one of the students or professors.
