Anna was excited. It was finally the Hogsmeade weekend and she was going to spend the day with Oscar. Their plan was to look for a seamstress. Anna was pretty sure that there weren't any in Hogsmeade, but she was willing to look. Besides, she got to spend more time with Oscar, so it was worth it. She was so relieved that he asked her to the dance and that she would be going with a friend. Now, no matter what happened, she didn't need to worry about the Ball. Except for the dancing part, but she wasn't going to worry about that yet. She was sure Madam Macmillan would make sure she knew what she was doing before the ball actually happened.
Today was about having a good time and getting to know Oscar better. At least, that's what she thought it was about. She was waiting for him right outside the school, where they decided to meet one another so they could walk down to the village together. It was a nice morning. Not cold or hot, just somewhere in between and Anna was enjoying the nice weather while she waited.

The village by Hogwarts was a popular place, though Oscar didn’t exactly see its appeal. His friends who had gone to the village lauded its candy shop and pub, but Ozzy didn’t see how they were any different or any better than any other pub or candy shop. Buildings were just buildings, and a village was just a village, not the magical fantasy land that everyone seemed to think it was. Still, he needed to see if there was a seamstress there so that he and Anna could coordinate their outfits, and since he was going with Anna, it wasn’t as bad as it could be. Oscar would probably never go to the village on his own, but he liked spending time with Anna. He liked Anna, period.
Finding her outside of the school wasn’t difficult – the red hair gave her away. Rather than approaching her from the front and calling out her name, as he tended to do, Oscar decided to have a little bit of fun. He allowed himself to blend into the crowd of students that was milling about, moving closer and closer to Anna (hopefully) without being seen. When he was right behind her, Oscar leaned down next to Anna’s ear and whispered, “Boo.”

Where was he? Obviously, he didn't have to come first thing in the morning, but Anna didn't think it would take him this long. Maybe he was having a bad hair day. She smirked to herself as she imagined him showing up an hour later, apologizing profusely. Still, she didn't want that to happen. She was ready to start her day in Hogsmeade with him. Really, all she wanted to do was spend the day with him and have fun. In order for that to work, he was going to have to show up sooner or later.
Anna jumped when he whispered "Boo" in her ear. She spun around and hit his shoulder lightly, glaring at him. "I can't believe you did that!" She accused. Anna's heart was racing and she was surprised. It wasn't easy to catch her off guard, what with her relatives and all, but he certainly had. She wasn't so much annoyed at him as she was annoyed at her reaction to him. She could hardly believe that she actually jumped. "I'll have you know it's not normally so easy to make me jump," she told him, doubting that Oscar would believe her, since it wasn't that difficult for him this time. "Are you ready to go?" Anna asked, trying to change the subject as quickly as possible.

Oscar was pleasantly surprised that his approach had actually been as silent as he had believed it to be. Anna had seemed genuinely shocked by his presence, and he grinned at her despite the fact that she had punched him in the shoulder. It had been barely more than a love tap, but Oscar considered pretending to be mortally wounded. No, it was probably better that he not do that – he didn’t want Anna to think that she had actually hurt him, and sometimes she had the tendency to overreact. They both did, when they thought they might have done something that might have offended or hurt the other. It was a sad vestige of their first meeting, but Oscar supposed there were worse things for them to overreact about.
“I know.” Ozzy responded, nodding sagely when Anna said it wasn’t easy to make her jump. “I was…born ready?” Oscar said. It sounded like a question because he wasn’t sure that he had gotten the idiom correct, but he was sure that Anna would tell him if it was wrong. “I hear there is a good sweets shop. Can we go there before seamstress?” Whoever it was probably wouldn’t appreciate sticky fingers, but what was the point in going into the overcrowded town if they couldn’t get a little overpriced sugar on the way?

He just grinned when she punched him and Anna glared at him. Fine, she wasn't really mad that he scared her, just surprised. His response took her by surprise. He knew she wasn't easy to scare? Her eyebrows rose in surprise. "And how exactly did you know that?" she asked loftily. Then, when he said he was born ready, Anna grinned and nodded to silently signal him that he said it right. She was pretty sure that's why he said it like a question, but didn't want to put her foot in her mouth by commenting on it if he wasn't worried about getting it wrong. "Are you saying you think you can do it again?" she asked, surprised by his attitude.
Anna laughed, "Sure! I never say no to sugar," she told Oscar easily as she started to walk down the path and lead him towards Hogsmeade. "What kind of sweets do you like?" Anna asked curiously, wondering out loud as they walked side by side.

“You are not as much of a mystery as you think you are, Anna Weasley.” Oscar said with a smirk. That was a lie – she was still an enigma to him, but he enjoyed that. Being able to figure people out was kind of boring. Oscar liked being surprised by Anna and nearly everything she said and did. When she challenged him, asking him if he could sneak up on her, Oscar shook his head as vigorously as his newly-gelled hair would allow. He wouldn’t want it to get messed up, otherwise their whole excursion would be ruined. “Nope. Once is enough.” Oscar liked to try everything once, and then let it go from there.
Oscar beamed at Anna when she said she would take him to the sweets shop. Sure, it was no different than any French sweet shop, but Anna didn’t go to any French sweet shop, either. “I like anything grape flavored.” Ozzy informed her. “Grape juice is my weakness.” Especially so because he liked to wear white. “You? You like chocolate, don’t you?” If he wanted to keep up the illusion that he knew everything about Anna, guessing candy was a good place to start.

"What if I want to be a mystery?" Anna retorted in a fake-whiny voice. She didn't think Oscar would believe her for a second, but she couldn't help herself. It was surprising that he read her so easily though. Most people- even her close friends- couldn't tell how she would respond to certain situations. It seemed like Oscar was the exception, which she was starting to feel was normal for him. Maybe that was one of the reasons she liked him so much. She smirked at him, "You know I take that as you thinking you can't do it again, even if you wanted to, right?" Anna wasn't sure if he would rise to the bait, which is why she had to put it out there. Unlike Oscar's uncanny ability to see through her, she was lost when it came to reading him.
She nodded when he started talking about grapes. That was a good flavor. Not particularly her favorite, but there were definitely times when Anna wanted grape flavored things. "I'm going to remember that," she told him with a smile. He guessed that she liked chocolate and Anna laughed. "Of course I like chocolate, but when it comes to sweets I'm a mood eater. Sometimes I feel like chocolate, sometimes I don't." She shrugged. When it came to desserts with Anna, it was all about her mood. Though she was almost always in the mood for chocolate. She didn't have to tell him that though.

Oscar scoffed when Anna asked about what would happen if she wanted to be a mystery. “Well, do you?” He teased, bumping his shoulder against hers. “Because if you do not actually, I will not give you answer.” Anna’s whine didn’t sound genuine, but if she actually did want an answer, Oscar was sure he could pull one out of somewhere to give to her. If he stopped trying to understand her, maybe that would be easier? Oscar nodded when Anna said that she took his admission as him saying he couldn’t sneak up on her ever again. “I will prove you wrong.” He assured her with a smile.
Anna saying she would remember his favorite flavor made Ozzy unsure whether she was promising him something or threatening him. The smile made it seem like the former, but Anna could be feisty when she wanted to, and Oscar was sure that she could get into some trouble with that kind of information. Anna said that she was a mood eater, and Oscar raised a dubious eyebrow. “When are you not in the mood for chocolate?” He asked her. He wasn’t chocolate’s biggest fan, but there wasn’t a single situation that Oscar had encountered in life that couldn’t be improved with a little bit of the sweet.

Anna laughed when Oscar asked if she wanted to be a mystery. He was teasing her and she liked it. "No, I'm not very good at being mysterious," she confessed, though she was sure he already knew that. He spent enough time with her over the last month that he should know it. She grinned when he said he would prove her wrong. "You can try," she challenged. Anything that made him want to spend more time with her was a good thing.
He seemed surprised when she said she ate according to her mood and then asked when she wasn't in the mood for chocolate. Anna grimaced at him. Why was he so perceptive? "I am always in the mood for chocolate," she confessed. "It's just that sometimes I want something else more." Would that make sense? "What about you? Do you like chocolate?" Not as much as grape, but she did know that some people didn't like chocolate at all, which was a tragedy.

Oscar shrugged when Anna said she was not mysterious. “That is not your best quality, no, but you have many other good things about you.” He said with a smile. She was excellent at just about everything, as far as Oscar was concerned. Everything except for challenging the right people. “Sleep with one eye open.” Oscar said. He would wait at least a month before trying to scare her, long enough that she would forget this conversation had ever happened, and then he would strike. He would make Anna rue the day she said that Oscar Gauthier couldn’t so something. She had been right about the Champion bit, but…Okay, maybe he wouldn’t sneak up on her. He probably would fail anyways.
Oscar chuckled when Anna admitted she always was in the room for chocolate. That was what he had thought. “I like chocolate, yes.” He responded. “Chocolate in France is best chocolate.” She could try to argue that, but she would lose.

Oh, Oscar really shouldn't have left his comments at that. Anna wasn't trying to be annoying, but now she was really curious about what he thought her good qualities were. "Like what?" she asked innocently, cocking her head to the side a little as she waited for his answer. However, when he teased her about needing to be careful one of her eyebrows rose in surprise. "You can't get me while I'm sleeping," she argued. "You have no way to get into the Gryffindor tower." Maybe it wasn't good to challenge him like that, not when there were people who might let him in if it meant pranking Anna, but oh well. She already said it.
They were coming up on the sweetshop when Oscar said French chocolate was the best. Anna smirked at him, "I'll believe that when you prove it to me," she told him, not necessarily saying he was wrong, but not saying he was right either. She loved her chocolate and was pretty sure that was hard to beat. "Now come on," she told him, grabbing his hand and pulling him inside Honeydukes. "What looks good to you here?" she asked, leading him to an aisle that had grape flavored candy on one side and chocolate on the other. Yes, she was teasing him and was excited about that. Really, though she was just excited to spend the day with him.

It was hard to think of what to say when Anna asked what her good qualities were. Not because she lacked good qualities, but because she had so many, and it was hard for Ozzy to choose just one or two to highlight to her. Still, he would try. “You are good at giving second chances.” Oscar told her. She had given him one, and that was the only reason they were here together. “You are good at hugging.” Oscar adored Anna’s hugs, and something inside of him hoped she took that as an invitation to hug him again. “You are smart.” She knew a lot more about a lot more than Ozzy did, at least. “And you are not as much of a braggart as you could be.” He wouldn’t say that Anna didn’t brag at all, because he was in a habit of being honest with her, but Anna was no Emile, constantly crowing about her own achievements. “I met your friends.” Oscar said with a wave of his hand when Anna said he had no way to get into the Gryffindor tower. Maybe one of them would let him in, if they knew that he just wanted to play a harmless prank.
“When I go home for summer, I will take you with me, and we will eat French chocolate.” Ideally, Oscar wouldn’t wait that long, but since he was booked for winter break now because of the Yule Ball, that seemed the earliest time it was possible. Anna led him into the sweet shop, and Oscar’s eyes nearly bugged out of his head. An entire aisle devoted to grape-flavored candy? He had died and gone to heaven. Oscar swallowed. He had to be smart about managing money, he reminded himself. Only one bag of candy. Or maybe two… “What do you recommend?” He asked Anna. She had been here before – she knew what was good.

Anna was blushing. Sure, she asked him what was good about her, but she didn't expect Oscar to come up with so many reasons. She was embarrassed, but in a good way. She liked the feeling and she liked knowing about the things that he liked about her. It made her feel a little more confident around him. He liked her hugs? Well, there was only one thing she could do for that. She laughed and turned to face him, giving him a big, albeit rather quick, hug before continuing on their way.
At his last comment, her mouth fell open. "Not as much a braggart as I could be?" Anna repeated, making the phrase a question. Where did that come from? Was he saying that was a good thing about her or not? She couldn't decide if she should feel offended by that, but even if she should she didn't. Then her eyes narrowed as she looked at him, "You wouldn't go to them ..." it wasn't a challenge, it was more a probing question in the form of a statement. He wouldn't do that, right? Andy might let him in, Irina probably would and Lily would definitely help him with whatever he had planned. Maybe introducing them hadn't been the best idea ever ...
Anna grinned at the thought of going to France with Oscar. On her own, she wouldn't want to go, but with him she would definitely be interested in going to France. To be honest, she'd be happy going anywhere with him. Not that she would tell him that. Saying something like that would probably scare him off. "That sounds great!" Anna answered, possibly a little too enthusiastically. Hopefully he wouldn't mind. Anna grinned and shrugged, "When it comes to grape flavors, you're on your own," she confessed. "I like them, but I only eat them when they're given to me ... my money tends to be spent on chocolate." What was the point in trying to hide that? She turned to the chocolates and tapped her chin, trying to decide what she was in the mood for today while letting Oscar make his own choice out of the grape flavored candies.

Oscar winced at his own phrasing. Hearing it out of Anna’s own mouth made it sound a little harsher, but she had made him a promise, and she hadn’t gone through with it. “I did not see my name in the Daily Prophet article about you.” He mentioned, trying to sound as nonchalant about it as possible. It wasn’t that big of a deal, really, but he was…disappointed, he supposed, that she hadn’t thought to even mention him by a description rather than his name. Maybe the interview had happened before he had asked her to the Yule Ball? Even then, Oscar was saddened that he wasn’t important enough – that her promise wasn’t important enough – to be mentioned in passing.
They moved on to the subject of his revenge and whether or not he would enlist the help of her friends, and Oscar shrugged. “Maybe I would not. But maybe I would.” He challenged. How far did Anna think he would go to prove a point? She would probably underestimate him, since as of now, she had really only seen Ozzy’s soft side. He didn’t have a hard side, exactly, but he definitely had a side that wasn’t as tender with others.
Ozzy frowned at Anna when she said he was on his own with the grape flavors. Hadn’t she at least tried one of these candies before? He really didn’t want to waste his already limited money on a poor choice. Eventually he settled on some grape flavored jellies, plucking a package that didn’t look all that magical, but definitely appeared to be high quality. He turned around to see if Anna was done making her selection, bumping his shoulder against hers. “Let us get out of here before we get crushed.” He mumbled to her. There were definitely more people coming in than leaving, and Oscar was worried about being crushed in the throng.

Anna cringed slightly when he mentioned the article. "I wanted to talk to you about that," she started. "How did you want me to bring you up? I mean, I really don't have any problem mentioning you but you are from Beauxbatons and I didn't want people to give you a hard time for helping the competition ..." she trailed off, feeling like her excuse was lame. At the moment she was doing the interview, it seemed like a much bigger deal though. She didn't want anyone to think poorly of Oscar.
Anna bit her lip nervously. Hopefully he wouldn't go to her friends, but saying that he wouldn't wasn't going to help her case much, so she might as well stop fighting with him about it. "I guess I'll have to wait and see then," she answered with a shrug and a small smile.
Anna didn't know what to get. When Oscar nudged her shoulder and said they should get out of there before they were crushed, Anna laughed and grabbed a few chocolate frogs. At least she couldn't go wrong with those, right? "I'm ready. Let's get out of here," she agreed, leading the way to the register. She paid for her chocolate and waited for Oscar before going outside. He was right, it really was starting to get crowded in there. "So what do you want to do now?" She asked once they were safely outside the building.
