Elaine rolled her eyes as Fin called her secret passage cliche. Perhaps it was; no, she knew it was. But still, why shouldn’t she be allowed to have some fun twists and turns in the place she called home? It wasn’t as if she could broadcast her whereabouts anyway, seeing as she was a wanted criminal, so she may as well make her home as interesting as possible. Bad things happened when Elaine Dupree got bored. “Oh, just dabbling here and there,” Elaine said airily, waving her hand. She didn’t know too much about voodoo, but her newest recruit did, and she was proving herself to be very useful.
The tone of Fin’s voice sounded fearful; Elaine had a keener sense for fear than most, and it didn’t go unnoticed this time. “Don’t worry Fin, they’re not going to be used on you,” she said softly. Unless you betray me. The threat was unspoken, but very clearly there. Elaine did not take well to betrayal; one could ask Theodorus how she handled it, but that would be difficult to do from the grave. She reached up and gently traced her finger down his cheek. “You would never give me any reason to use them, right?” she asked him sweetly, cocking her head to one side.

She said she was just dabbling in voodoo, which seemed more dangerous to Fin then actually researching things fully. Elaine was smart, though. She wouldn't hurt herself. Other people, of course, but not herself and that was mainly who he was worried about at that particular moment. She told Fin she wouldn't use her new toys on him, but he knew better. Well, he knew that she wouldn't do something to him, of course, but he also knew that this could change. It all depended on him. He wasn't afraid of pain, though. Not as much as he was afraid of losing his best friend. She asked if he would ever give her a reason to use them, touching his face cocking her head to the side. He couldn't help but chuckle, a sound of affection, and slowly shake his head. "I would hope not, my dear. Though, I suppose I could be a good test subject if you need one."Elaine Lyra Dupree

Elaine shook her head with a small smile. “No, I wouldn’t make you a test subject Fin dear. That special position is only for people who displease me,” she stated matter-of-factly. She could always of course find human guinea pigs to test some of her dabblings on, both magical and Mudblood, but she did have a sadistic streak in testing things on followers who disappointed her. Alastor in particular had been rather fun to test this voodoo magic out on. Fin was the only person alive who currently knew the “head” of the Purifiers was under the Imperius Curse thanks to Elaine, and she doubted he would tell anyone. He wasn’t that stupid after all.
She beckoned him to follow her back up the stairs into the library where she closed the bookcase door encasing the passageway behind them with a series of enchantments uttered rapidly under her breath. “I do have an assignment for you after all Fin,” she said casually as she crossed the room to head back into the library. The chef had sent up tiny chocolate tarts, Elaine’s favorite, for their dessert. She picked one up and popped it into her mouth, chewing thoughtfully as she prepared to deliver him his mission. “I need intel on one of the Aurors, Claire Slater. The one who killed our beloved Desirae,” she said, her eyes flashing. “I’ve been hearing rumors that she is transferring to the Hitiwitch program, which would make any accidents in the field seem to be just that. I need to be updated on her in the Ministry, what she’s doing, who she is spending time with. Try to get close to her; you’re a charming, good looking boy Fin, I don’t think this will be a problem for you,” she explained, watching him carefully with her dark eyes. She had Addilyn as her spy on the inside, but that just provided intel on Claire’s homelife. The woman was a workaholic, so she needed someone to get the intel on that aspect of her life. Besides, best to keep Fin busy so he had less time to fawn over that Mudblood girl.

Well, he sure hoped that he would never displease his best friend. Even from just a friend standpoint that would suck, and knowing what she was capable of made it even worse to think about. He was glad that she didn't think of him that way... and he hoped she never would. Of course he hoped she wouldn't. No one in the world wanted to be on the end of her anger. But, as a friend, Fin felt he especially didn't want to be. She said that she had an assignment for him as they went back up the stairs. Claire Slater? He nodded, trying to take in all the information. He knew who Claire was, of course, and speaking to her was... not something he was interested in. He understood why it was important, though. Fin could easily get assignments near Claire if he tried. Getting close to Claire Slater would be... interesting. Very, very interesting. "You got it," he said, nodding. "Guess I'll get started on it," he said, saying his goodbyes before making his way out. Elaine Lyra Dupree(the end )
